[0:00]" Joining us right now as he does every Wednesday is the any -- and I don't know how you know I mean a team is one of the six through the first couple weeks. Believe this is what you expected from this being."
[0:13]" No I you know I mean I think that we we have more wins we've given a couple of way but you know like to -- guys who -- could really are edited the players are frustrated coaches frustrated obviously you watch the game that we and then all the games in it's it's not expect."
[0:30]" I can understand everybody being frustrated but you look back at last season and you seeing a lot of the same stuff marching band in the fact that. -- guys are staying in games and then when the game is on the line even when you make a big hoop like he did the other night take the lead to give up five uncontested points it almost seems to me like. It's similar to what we saw last year in games and what do game's on the line they can't pull a W. I think so -- Did he is now is not a matter of execution down the stretch."
[1:01]" It's you know it execution it -- a lot of different things the that the execution opposite execution you know making shots they treat -- you know I think that it comes down to a lot of things. But yeah I've been execution ultimately it comes down to making more shots and getting more stopped."
[1:20]" The anything you get to the point I mean we've we talk a lot about how a young the other team is and it's you know it's on -- indisputable it's a very young team but can you get to a point where -- losing. You know kinda stunts the development of young guys to mean to you have to win at least some to get some sort of development."
[1:39]" While you get some sort of development -- playing well skiing course and ultimately that's what we finish our season last year that we talked about articles in the issue was learning that now we don't how to play we know we complain that this talent to compete with with the Philippines RB but we need to learn that we. In perspective and -- in the play basketball essentially have to win in our I think our guys or shall we have to and they want -- hand in the it would start losing some sense to add pressure. To already depressed situation management and and so that's were brought up to -- start."
[2:17]" Day these guys you know just not listen to dock particularly at the end games don't push comes -- so we always hear Dickerson on the sideline talkies the whole talking about what doctors trying to tell these guys and where they should be. And it just doesn't seem like they're listening beyond"
[2:34]" I. I think it I think it that would -- which you do it that it but it one."
[2:39]" It's better not kinda scary if that's the case that's all."
[2:42]" That if I don't think that I think these guys are listening to -- I don't think he's lost here for matters of interpretation going on in an experience itself but they are. And beginning you know to know where guys -- be in the -- now you know who put on the mean there's been received likenesses or rotation which I think it would you know winning as educating -- build -- with all the great success he's out for play calling you know I mean obviously are at at this thing and that the at a at a museum. But you know so there's going to be questions what but to make it you know -- we don't have a guys in one job rotation yet."
[3:30]" It's it was backers think as we talked about missed two weeks ago. And you addressed it in the one of the newspapers that come out with most likely it fired disease in the doc rivers -- it seeing it now obviously as the team is losing. It seems to shell out every once in awhile haven't talked talked about -- of the pre game show of the government which immigrant stated in its inevitable if you lose games that's what happens coaches -- thinks about it as well it is their one of those votes of confidence the go to the coach right now hours it's still -- the Seattle how do you guys deal --"
[4:07]" I I see talk everyday he works he which he's working with our team. And so I feel like I I can be a battery I waited there but he -- with one game Eric Dickerson will be as awful as he with the Japanese practice. With happening she programs but he with doctors tried it -- al east and prepared and I have all the cup world. And I am hoping that they continue to work as hard as they are in the not to lose -- spear it. Determination and will park where he's putting in the and you know if everybody works of art as. Disorganization on players continue to believe in each other and believe in what do -- believe they do right going to be fine and -- it stopped listening in stopped believe me obviously pop -- since that at all I think doc has there year. I think they are listening in -- work extremely -- practice that you believe people in each other. And in yet you know we still have a tendency of the line them all much in the two -- are more balanced team. It would -- continued to and the pro."
[5:23]" Dickerson actually in the huddle isn't important to understand it actually I try to dismiss everything Dickerson well no he wasn't pouring into the on the brought he loses he was relaying what -- in the holly wasn't referring else resentments -- in the same thing you said two weeks ago -- going nowhere is that since dislike. My annual accounts excellent regular."
[5:43]" Now doctors are doing great job I think it's. It's just so easy and again like I I don't believe for a second that elbow checked off the patriots the game but we want to do it looked -- still don't blame Grady little loop and to be take."
[5:58]" You its own demons yeah -- good place outside the Bible. Bring -- players."
[6:04]" Believe that he -- any good players to come and I believe the when you look at it became that we lost for example in the in the -- I would make them back there and Williams as a great player. Number three pick in the draft. They even had as Paul he makes the -- 20 foot -- wrote and had nothing to do with Jerry -- doc rivers. You know we we missed free throws in turn that over driving in the lane he plays that all that was there for -- eat so I don't look at it the same way. You know I I just feel like I played on teams that played on a lot of good teams in my career that didn't come down to whether coach made the player coach made substitution -- became -- the players making shots and players they can stop it read back. And you know that's where it lies and it still believe them out and the coaches don't happen impacts. But a thing in players have to yield ground ball pitchers have to get guys out shortstop have to make plays in same thing about on me he got to make plays of the players game Tom Brady estimate -- receivers after it opened I'm just I'm just one of those guys just don't sit back in criticize coaches because -- coaches it way too much blame and way too much."
[7:19]" Let's talk about players you brought here and Ron Billy shown. Some nice things that affect that that was interest in -- Adam. In the final moments of the game the other night he was -- crunch time he was out on the on the court but I'm a little bit concerned about Sebastien itself you know a lot more about it you've obviously seen a lot more -- of and then an idea. And and -- it certainly is as befits the other times I feel bad for Perkins playing behind him commits the filing and granted you you know -- might be a little bit out of position whatever but it almost seems to me. Like the guards and specifically welfare is not doing his job defensively. Is a better -- lets a player little seen so far."
[8:00]" You know at. I think that that's unfair because even though he has not made indeed the plays -- resign after it and we also."
[8:07]" What you expect he's a great Sebastien the third your -- Right I mean it it Broncos play three games four games in the India."
[8:14]" I understand -- I think that he that -- we have seen we need it better I think we we've made strides last year but the political you know I think Sebastien -- that are decent but I'm not dispute which saying I think that it. A simple I think the wall that'd be I think Paul need to play better -- the -- and he played better I think the lot they play better I'd I'd I'd look at all of those guys what's that it's the beginning. They all need to make at a place in and that's with the work on the market it better but -- Sebastien has the plane with oh in them. You know pocket of choices because the absence -- and so good in Cleveland in our game -- and oh in these tough choices as to."
[9:02]" Well I think he went and -- last but not saying that he that he in the 50s if that are -- that -- that think that there's been times that guys by. And you know at a stop but I don't think it's like -- I think there's you mistakes that we etiquette that are so."
[9:23]" What did you find it a little bit strange that doc rivers -- in the game and not Sebastien the and the other night."
[9:28]" Well I didn't use points the world I didn't yet because even -- Sebastien plate rate you know which on on the court when we make in the broad and I think it pop will be value you know that last three minutes top choice because Sebastien was playing really well on -- come back there and but I think that that still -- that talk to a indicate that the thing."
[9:51]" anywhere is your your individual patients with regards to the development of some of these younger guys and uses. Now all requiring more patience than you initially thought."
[10:02]" Well if I'd get it requires more patience the whole. But realistically when I watch practice each day -- where our team is I constantly reminded that need to be patient either that or make trades you know speed up the process and you know but but we don't want to do that we don't want to make it mistake like we did with Chauncey Billups we did with you know Joe Johnson trade weakened players because these patients you know we don't want it is and so I I do believe that there is patient be patient but that would mean we can't win. But that just means that we have to be case."
[10:42]" Do you. Do you think or don't you think it is also critical to have some land where I become -- point -- you have too many young players out one time that some veteran players are needed to help that developmental process. No question. Poetry and are you at a stage now where you feel like you might have too many young players -- not there yet."
[11:02]" Yes I felt that -- summer -- And you know the question is I don't want to bring veteran players in just because they're -- and it would again players to but but I but it view they do out."
[11:16]" It respectable we're talking about though. During a summer in that it's kind of a fine line here because you've got to be able to develop players find out which ones are are are going to be the base of your team going forward correct."
[11:30]" and without them we got to talk to -- of them and I like that they -- we get the united guys that I I of course he has been starters in the and potential starters on the road in in in in we have another -- that I think are legitimate in eight bench players. In which brings to about 11 guys or you know and have made upside in so that makes stuff mean."
[11:54]" How -- how do you serve two masters here how'd you win games knowing that in the NBA you don't win games with young players. And yet how do you develop if you're that high on a guy like -- you're that high on a guy like Gerald green how do you develop those guys. And still win games right now in the NBA without disappointing it you know that your your your your base out -- the fan base but sit there saying -- winning any games right now."
[12:23]" I you know I I still feel that our fans like you're our -- more credit -- that I think -- concede some of the good things I think that it is tough serving two masters there's no question about that. And that's the question that we constantly evaluate as we need to discuss where we're where we're at it. And that's that is a very difficult process to go through and because you're winning can develop some players good young players an opportunity -- should not can win as many games to the exit and received from the that."
[12:53]" Yeah wanted to get back to something I think that we talked about last week when you mentioned the point guides in the defects that -- brought -- that I think you mentioned last week that the defense of both point -- you know had been a little bit of an issue when. And that night I think Rhonda didn't play want to say it was in the -- game maybe -- not not to royals -- you -- start Charlotte stance child and Rhonda didn't play at all do you agree with that I mean obviously you'd -- dot that did the defense was an issue but. Not playing him altogether and I guess the back to the -- you -- Is that the best way do you think you know maybe get that point home."
[13:27]" adults think that that that the doctor by any stretch I think that. And -- roster issue you know like -- they liked the want to -- at the we have one little bit better. He wants it thought his -- on field ability is one of the best players on the team started it back into the -- be why is that. And that's sometimes there's going to be up you know there's going to be in need for the want it if some one which could mean some minutes in there for Sebastien on you know I act like its soul 1. You know so many people criticized docked for not have a rotation because it would -- nine guys when it doesn't play and -- want to criticize him about playing in result -- There's going to be teams like that now for on runs of -- the MPs for you know seven games straight eight straight and you know in the proper -- that. I'm getting pants and not playing in it in public at responds to those kind of situations -- which can react to -- next day an improvement and then maybe be -- little very important part of develop."
[14:37]" And recognizing. We're only seven games and obviously there's there's still a long ago. But given all of the issues in specifically concerning youth club that you talking about the start it's gotten off to. At what point does it reaches stage where you feel like you would have to do something wars that you just ride it out and continue to elect guys develop and or or you try to bring in more veteran guys like I I guess -- Isn't it -- it will -- it actually December 17 the data than mine but I'm wondering when the NL."
[15:19]" Well you know I like it towards I think this summer is that it too many guys that. It but I but that's just not these -- from the -- of young players wait for Portland that. And so it is the process in what we're trying to do in elect our talent level is significantly better than we were a few years ago I'd just don't be RT. As a whole right now. And so that the two that the solution that we yet or process of developing as we have we have acquired more assets in our team and more use and -- And now the -- statement with those -- in --"
[15:58]" So obviously as players continue to develop then you may find yourself a better position to make et cetera et cetera."
[16:04]" Yeah or or or you find that the players that you that you want to keep in the in the players you know that they're better fit to -- this sort of the best player but that's that we that would when he gets -- data and the like telling developing last year -- in green. And -- we don't have room for all these young players."
[16:23]" Al Jefferson and him. You know what he experienced is this -- situation where it's going to take him awhile to get strong again."
[16:31]" I don't think so I actually had this seated at a few years ago. And down I don't think it's going to be happy if the deal and you know I think that there may be a -- to beat it himself back acclimated after he has if you practice and -- belt that. You know I think after two or three weeks out he should be. Close to being backed themselves."
[16:53]" We your courage with what you saw in the first few games that the that he play"
[16:57]" I was very encouraged by about. Halfway through our training camp in media after our third exhibition game -- for the last year or exhibition games the first part of he's in an all of the practices in between the -- separate itself in. And really but the plane like like people play."
[17:17]" I -- his body looked totally different this year and yet east you guys started -- playing back they five words I guess where he was more comfortable haven't played there. In high school back at the five do you see him having to change that body he -- maybe building up a little little bit more into the frame a little bit more strength."
[17:36]" I don't think so in that still weighs 260 -- I mean it's not like he's like Bofors even with his new body you know opinion and I think you're that -- and body pitchers. And he continues to work in the weight room and so forth he'll probably be 65 -- 70 that the player which is which means like mark for example mark while -- 250 you know and it only see in the ways you guys like -- in a lot of the the players are ever going to the body like Dwight Howard but them now as he'll play the position needed to 60."
[18:13]" By the way -- in the in the old ones we don't a lot of areas I'd I'd say appendicitis no I have now most of -- in the -- not -- I I must tell you Dwight Howard is just such a tremendous play just watching him the other night some of the things that. That he does in the -- control team inside pretty amazed accurate for young player you know you were talking this review couple weeks ago you know. It usually with these young players it takes such a long time we don't know what you've got early on and you guys dealing with -- right now with. That was Jefferson in the course Portland dealt with that with -- O'Neal actually went to India and yet what Howard just seems like a million right now."
[18:53]" Well you know differences al like 15 pick in the draft mean he'll listening to wrap things in. It sort of it was a pretty much consensus number one correct I mean even say in the same category as the belt in the -- and you'll in this millennium everybody knew how good player like Howard -- bought it because of -- eyes is is that he and is that a ladder system. Word you know unbelievable at Saatchi and so I don't think anybody's surprised by is development hurt that was in -- in becoming very."
[19:29]" How important was this month when you -- schedule is that the itself meant an awful lot of home games we're playing against teams that weakened we can win against. And how important was it when you look at the schedule a month ago and how do you look at it now seven games into how important is for well."
[19:49]" I think that that's with. There's so many things to the schedule first first of all in the -- Cleveland on the active -- team you know -- rested for four days to become backed by home game you know after a couple teams are resting place India and I was out of that it but -- they have played since Saturday. I mean there's a lot of things that go into schedule in this games that later on it you know hopefully it peculiar way right now it hasn't been as fine as it would seem on paper. Haven't said that I mean you you know that -- watch games that we should you know we should absolutely and now anyway -- You know there's a lot of factors that make -- paper -- it's been much in our neighbors as people make up."
[20:36]" I that you get same situation that Washington game -- you what you got to -- and that is that whole hall where they would sit around waiting. That's the question of fact I'm just looking at that schedules okay it is a winnable games and -- playing a lot of the -- games of all people know that you're going to be taken some long road trips here. It gets a little bit tougher because your points so much on the road when you get out of November."
[20:56]" Well I think -- you that if you look at our team you -- compares to a team like new world and we put the first night girl mean you'd think the best team that we probably should be on our home court from mr. talents and right. They don't have a great roster they have the -- better and I think that our our our players feel like we're better. And electric coaches know that and in the same thing with Orlando's one of the you know of the team that everybody's predicted that the system. The dark horse in the Eastern Conference this year and you know they have some talent of that team grant hill and in. Howard and to deal now and so portrait of the they have they have depth in the world right there where there's not teams that are just so much better than."
[21:42]" Do you think you guys do you think you guys ran out of gas in Cleveland great to have that I believed any and to be -- that well. And suddenly have -- just fall apart we can't make a stop."
[21:53]" Well you know I mean I've been on teams I've been on championship teams have had that happen to them before you can stop that. That moment."
[22:00]" That was Larry's -- christmas christmas thing you know."
[22:03]" still went promote Walt you know both both things happened in our league all the time this bird Celtics of course everybody thinks that should ever happen what happens view that they fingers in it shouldn't. And yet we needed a first time the last time and hopefully it will be the games we got back."
[22:31]" I hopefully we talked to you next week that the couple more wins that the left in the column will be able talk about work towards things but do I good luck tonight -- and Danny --"
