Until this whole thing gets sorted out and figured out and he said he's talked to a lot of other coaches in the league head coaches and coordinators. And they're all convinced that they're just going to have to use hand signals again until everything gets sorted out what."

They just couldn't use the old system at least for now. And and figure out you know as they be as they go along. I get the sense from him that you know if if the defense and helmet system works he's going to be pleasantly surprised he doesn't think it's going to work."

[8:56]" Well it might not be able to work under the current rules. You might just have to do the only way can work in that in the offense would cry foul. And the commissioner probably wouldn't let it go through the owners when medical through because we know in this league everybody wants to see offense but the only way it could work. Is it every guy on defense. -- has a helmet. With the with --"

[9:19]" I was wondering though that at Illinois and up well and I'll take it one step back from you. Could you have one player. From each position group you know say once -- I matter one linebacker one defensive back have one to beat now they may all three -- on the field at the same time. But chances are. I mean short of injury it's hard to imagine that one of those three guys isn't going to be on the field for every defensive snap."

You got a problem because I really believe if you had. A defensive player who was able to do what a quarterback is able to do speak with a coordinator. For possession of 200 into oxycontin -- who returns to your lineup and it's like nobody."

[11:48]" Well I open it this way you know you sit there are no storyline -- there are plenty of story lines here. Comment on -- maybe its -- and they -- controversy here too I think nick catcher as a perfect example that's that's an extremely controversial story. But the Patriots. Don't cooperate. And I guess we let him get away with. We in the media let him get away with it. If you're a beat writer. In -- catcher comes it is comes up the pup list. That's a story that's right -- for a couple of days but the Patriots. Kind of cut us off -- play the game don't let he who he's not available any."

[12:27]" Probably won't be available all year that he will not be able to talk to the media. I I would guess the entire series. Not the -- onto a lot of talking anyway yeah I mean you really have a couple of guys -- and and light do most of the talking for that group anyway. You take the cash on the table this is the most difficult. Professional sports franchise to cover in America. The knowing the papers they make it harder than anybody else in sports. For a media person yeah if you are if you are starting off in journalism. And you know cover the New England Patriots. You might be like what you might be I wanna Dante Scarnecchia up but the climate is going to reply."

[13:24]" I'd give it -- it one other that's very similar and it's because it it's one the exact same way the New Jersey doubles. -- morello runs his franchise exactly like Bill Belichick runs he has. You know. Don't don't talk about injuries don't ask about it he's not available Lamoriello runs his his organization the exact same way now it's nowhere near the same. You know paranoia no no no it's it's the exact same paranoia the level of interest is nowhere near the -- for the National Hockey League is the NFL. There's there's nowhere near the same media attention. But for those members of the media who to cover the team. I know because a lot of them are friends of mine yeah it's the exact."

[14:06]" Same thing here and and keep this in mind that none of your fan in your listen to what you don't care how hard it is to cover the team and you right. It has nothing to do with your enjoyment when you're on. When you're you're tailgating. You know Sunday morning at ten or eleven. Or some cases eight and I hate it and I know beer at that -- probably appear afternoon LE. But when Moses and Internet and -- your way take a national most of -- make it very much. Just going to work my way up to this. You know thinking about. How hard it is to cover the Patriots an epic about a reporter -- about story lines but it's something to keep in mind when you ask yourself. Why is this. This reporter covering the Patriots like -- why why did immediate talk about Bill Belichick like this wide wide disease. Reporters seem to have. A lack of joy when they're coming -- Foxboro. Well this is I think this influences the coverage we said it many times. Because the Patriots make it up on reporters when anything goes wrong with the Patriots. They will be jumped on they would not be given the benefit of the doubt there's not much leeway because. The reporters feel like our jobs are hard and so now. We're gonna we're going to give it back tears as best we can."

And and I think of it only because I -- to walk in today with a one of the exceptions and we talked for a while Mike grace. -- the Boston Globe -- seems to be an exception to that. A he he has a Julian coming here and you'd you know women talked on mommy loves coming here he loves working easier all the time. But he also doesn't seem to suffer the same slings and arrows that many other people I you know when bill -- check finally talked. About spy gate and all that stuff -- it was a Mike grace. You'd be at Bryant what was then Bryant College not even as Rice University university different -- when you go to Bryant College out there and Smithfield. And and you could go wherever you wanted to go. I mean reporters would literally and they'd be yelling out the way you don't try to run a play here you can walk up and on the sideline. I mean you could go where you want it you could talk to who you want it right you know Grogan would come to the sideline between. Between sets and you -- tight on you know what do you guys work on -- you could literally do that."

[18:14]" Way back in the days -- have -- just are there other franchises that do it and then there are some franchises that look at the Patriots and I'm not it's -- about football teams. You know look at the Celtics this year with Doc Rivers didn't allow his assistant coaches to talk up sound familiar. You know there -- other franchises look at the Patriots are saying they've been successful."
