[0:00]" In the fund radio telethon the word that your doing today in my life and my you know my ongoing survival is dependent upon you. And the generosity of -- people who are donating money today call 877731234 to pledge more support and helpless in the fight to strike out cancer. It's -- piece of what Dana Farber cancer institute and Jimmy fund gives you that you can't quantify sort of magic. That he's scared that it sort of puts its arms around can carry -- through the process they took care of me they took care my family and they brought us all to a place where. We felt so incredibly supportive today you'll hear from stars of the sports world and the entertainment industry all to support the real stars have these days the doctors and patients of the Dana Farber cancer institute -- these kids are the real stalwarts and and they are the real. Reason that we're all here today you know looking for for money in and they need to survive. They deserve better the number to call they seat 77731234 that -- 7773123 floors -- donations can make that difference we got all of the technology land right out there. Now it's people power now is just putting everybody together and send. Here it is go fix it now here's Mike Adams. "
[1:20]" I think magical was the word that describes what's going on down here today rumors -- the only country where we've been anchoring news and tired nests in the WEEI Jimmy fund radio telethon has been an unbelievable day. And there's so much to tell you about and so much to celebrate of course we would all love to have had a double header sweep but that small potatoes compared to what has been accomplished here today for the Jimmy fund and it's thanks to you the listeners and the fans of the Red Sox and all the thousands of people that have been involved in what's gone on here today I I I think the highlights from the was to see Jordan -- entry are running around the bases now I I didn't know. It was clay -- way. Who gave him that idea earlier today course Jordan's a kid who two years ago was in a wheelchair. Here at the radio telethon last year was in leg braces and this year at the age of seven like a little kid. Running around the bases on the diamond at Fenway Park get to the light of all the fans and with there was a dry eye in the place. It just goes to -- it's it's a micro cosmic view of them of the big thing that is accomplished here today. Which -- date now three point three. Million dollar total for the Jimmy fund and just a round of applause all you people. That were involved in and donating to this unbelievable cause it's been a great day here Mike Andrews now while they're doing a live shot for -- and and talking about the remarkable success of this year's radio telethon and his remarkable last year corset two point nine million the goal was set -- you know at three and it's not over yet of course you can still go on the the phones. And I think the residual effect of all this is going to be a number that you you really can't believe analysts and evident this very moment it's three point 372 million dollars. Thanks do to -- the listeners and thanks to the inspiring stories the life shattering stories -- from some of the people that we've heard. And the courage of the patients the the ability of of them to committed verbalize all that they've been through their lives and and again this a generous radio listening audience of this radio station. And their folks who watch nests and journey together to make it a great great night a very very rewarding night for all the people that were involved -- courses -- people in putting this on you can't believe the amount of people. That it takes to get an effort like this together from the a resilient -- and camera crews have been standing up all day. -- down here shooting the video that has -- folks like like Hazel Mae and Catherine Tappan and Tom Karen and -- parker and tears of Roxio and of course our own crew here my colleagues on this radio station Daylon holly -- Norway -- just really really good. At -- getting his his thoughts across on this issue of -- of the Dana Farber cancer institute -- again thank you to everybody out there that's been conserving -- not done yet as I said the number 8777381234. The phones will be open I'm told till 1 O'Clock in the morning tonight. And it's not too late for you to donate as we've gotten it during the course of the Red Sox game tonight so many all star contributors that is people who have contributed 1500 dollars and more 2500 dollars we had a Springfield remote at the Holyoke mall of course our new FM station on Springfield. Analog broadcast they can over 1600 dollars from up there we also had our WV I western remote broadcast all day long at the Auburn mall 4400 dollars came from them. It comes in in these huge chunks but it's also important to make sure of the you know. That the that people contribute. Ten dollars if thought it that's all they can afford certainly has been adding up in a big way all day long and all day yesterday as well as we've now reached three point three billion dollar market were also really champion proud about that we've had a several other a very interesting contributions from folks around the ball park as a matter fact. The game on bartenders it took all their tips tonight and contributed to the Jimmy fund twice 300 bucks in tips tonight from game on. -- the bartenders down there so our hats off our our hats off to them the aramark vendors in the park. Have contributed 400 bucks kind of a sad story it came to us as well from Charlie solo chi who is the director security services here at Fenway Park and they had a collection have passed the hat for one of their own one of the security guys down here at the ballpark who passed away just a couple of days ago on Wednesday. Bill Lewis a retired Boston police officer were carried the ball park they've passed the hat in his memory and came up with 700 dollars in his name all going as well to the Jimmy fund these stories like that one and the ones that I've been telling you about here. Are endless and there have been so many during the course this radio broadcast that is just it's unbelievable but. I think the thing that really gets to people the most is when they hear the actual stories of the actual patients what they went through their lives many of them survivors some of them not. And of course the whole idea behind the Jimmy fund is -- narrow the gap between those who survive in those who don't and make that percentage -- survival rate the lowest possible number province's total from the Warwick mall today and our FM station WEEI FM. It's 14500 dollars. It's just unbelievable it's as -- only authentic against it at that it's just hard to concentrate the numbers are mind boggling. It really it is. Also want to mention this another sad story here to get -- the idea behind this whole radio -- to eliminate sadness at the hands of this awful disease cancer. We have want to hear from a donation in memory. Ernie ball in memory no he's actually fighting a very courageous battle right now as we speak. And a prosperous against lung cancer. He's got hodgkin's as stomach and throat cancer and he's 62 years old this coming Sunday we want to say -- Ernie our prayers are with yet. Ernie ball -- bureau of your feeling no pain tonight and again we want to thank all the people react to the stories that are part of what is all about it back there the totality. Of what this is all about the stories of individual lives of individual children. Of individual parents of children you think of first of course of the kids I've got 33 healthy children the idea is when used when you try to think about what you might be able to do work contribute in order to maintain that help. And the longevity of your own children this is the kind of love that these people feel from you when you contribute to the Jimmy fund it because their their life's work is to is to make sure that -- Try to prevent the loss of of even one more child it's a difficult it's been a long battle but this. Growth of this event has been remarkable from the several 100000 dollars raised the first year of this telethon to the three point three. Million dollars."
[8:22]" Is that my boy is that the base runner. Steady outside the window I -- reacted this because I was of my favorite moment of the whole date. Jordan -- injury running the bases at Fenway Park he's right outside our window in my big round of applause out there -- as the boy right there."
[8:40]" That was a great great great moment it try to get him in here and have a word wear them if we can't before yet -- by the way the phones are open to the regular call in phone lines you liked it. Talk about the the Red Sox game tonight and I know the guy -- he. Gagne did it again tonight and -- that prevent the Red Sox when he double header and you're acquitted -- of phone in talk about that is that we are a Sports Radio station first and foremost. But for tonight we are also celebrating what has been a record breaking performance by all the volunteers all the all the folks that work at NASA and all the people from WEEI they were down here all day today and you up first and foremost the radio listeners who ponied up the -- to make this happen and it's it's just a great great feeling to be apart of it. And I think you should -- be yet. Be very proud of yourself. A thousand dollars came in today from the Red Sox clubhouse guys in honor of John Leicester. They got their their money together in the Red Sox clubhouse at McCormick. In memory of his father -- McCormick an all star and again 1500 dollars or more effort to make an all star Mary Kaplan supplies supported the cause of 1500 bucks. Edward mcfarland of north -- and all start with 1500 dollar contribution. -- gritty of limit 2000 dollars merry men to Reno 1500 -- 1500 Mark Mallard of them broke. And honor of in memory of -- big daddy Nickerson. 15000 dollar up 1500 dollars as well from him the all star the all -- contributions. Keep on -- and we're -- effort to have Mike Andrews coming here and join us a moment of course Mike the chairman of the Jimmy fund and dad. In memory of rape that your -- Now you hear these command and largely either in memory of somebody somebody who it -- in prior years but have lost their battle with cancer. And the whole idea here of course is to make sure that it doesn't happen in the future to his few people as possible they've made a lot of headway they've made a lot covered a lot of ground. And made a lot of advances in technology. And medicine and treatment. And knowledge about about cancer and that's why the numbers of of losses here in this I have gone I've gone down substantially we're going to have a lot more to come here on the bottom -- has -- midnight tonight.
