[0:00]" let me introduce you to a doctor Christopher -- don't doctor it's great to see you thanks thanks again this is a Bruce Taylor hi Bruce price of how right it's great to have you with -- today. Bruce right now is dealing with lung cancer. And when we diagnosed Bruce about three years ago this past spring. Then how does that come about how did you did you. Hit and I got sick and we had happened Brigham and women's and next thing I know I have a biopsy and I ended up for Dana. Which is the only place as far as I'm concerned beat them was even doing over there."
[0:32]" I had my key Maro and I picked radiation. And got it's great I'm in remission actually and I just going to have that positive attitude all the time about."
[0:41]" It's great who did doctor we keep on hearing about lung cancer and how difficult lung cancer is right now to two to battle. What are we seeing what would advances so we seeing right now where's the optimism here in in fighting lung cancer Chara."
[0:56]" At there a couple of there're there're a lot of is a good news -- cancer. There and I think you guys had a hat on when my colleagues doctor yoni and he does a lot of research on targeted therapies. So NL last situations you can actually have patients who were on oxygen. Had advanced cancer they're treated with these strikes and they really had a dramatic dramatic response. And that's where a lot of the research is moving in lung cancer toward these targeted therapies. And of course there are a lot of research happening that people have made the front page that says you haven't even seen yet as a research as a young researchers are looking at all kinds of genetic variations. Any anything from vitamin supplementation to brand new team out there -- and when he interesting things about mr. Taylor's that he had you know standard treatment. And now -- really want people another monkey it's even though it's really hard to treat and people would -- present when they're really advancing -- is he can still have permission syndicates still have."
[1:48]" You know really great response dislike mr. Taylor did. Inglett who want to play not the stock the lateness of crowd UMass graduate we're always probably no kids in Springfield broccoli US emirates and take their enormous skills I noticed some like BillCosby he didn't -- do you -- studio after -- the -- Boston College games UMass games like -- Arizona no no I can't -- with a plastic cups and being -- Madison now makes this a good idea and he talking about this and -- a lot of it depends and he was talking about targeting. Non smokers and for example an and -- and we were both the smoker Bruce I was a smoker. Since -- talked a lot. Our pets I have two packs a day for about. 2530 years you know. But there's but they're also our people now that are that are picking up lung cancer that it never smoked in the --"
[2:39]" That's right and it is about 15% of people who have lung cancer never smoked and now. So again it's shoot 85% people were smokers ex smokers but 15% never smoked and it's not so not secondhand smoke people think what must be secondhand smoke. To tell you truth we're not quite sure what the causes planet. It could be -- could be some other environmental exposure we don't know about but it seems to be growing this percentage of people who are nonsmokers. And I can add one more thing though that interest thinking about lung cancer is it doesn't matter whether you smoked or not it's a horrible disease and nobody deserves it and I think I tell everybody that is the truth. And we treated regardless of what happens and you treat the disease."
[3:15]" But it of Bruce who talk so much of -- kids who over the last couple days and what they deal with from. A psychological standpoint of social standpoint or whatever what you like for grown adult going in over to the DanaFarber. "
[3:29]" It was a worst thing ever liked to hit that I. Talked to Layton told me. I won't collapse. I put down. I came back from it and he just got a positive attitude you have to have that and I wouldn't of had it without either of the gals on east camp on my bride."
[3:48]" Because she's -- you if you give -- it's tough but. I'm very fortunate on the remission."
[3:56]" Armed volunteer and chairman of the marshals for the bank Parsons senior classic. I'm cooking for the handover. It's."
[4:05]" Senior center. It's just yet to keep going that's its dollar's -- and you cooking."
[4:10]" Pardon how to -- in conference good donuts -- he scored about 3540 years pro almost any -- specialties. Roast beef on nights he's in he's all excited now it's generally you're it particularly against Delaware in the middle of the did you think let's I don't like that."
[4:27]" Will be a lot of Grossman's -- and god we're so happy that -- remission and we we wish you continued. Like -- successful volunteers thank you for sharing your your story really much like doctor thank you. I think MSU appreciated."
