" I bet you're debate shows -- broadcast alive the Celtics offices right next door to the garden where they will have their whole opener and a -- have a right. What that is. What we'll ask him in the second were happening have Danny Ainge militias to any use. A member of the big show we're just we feel like family here with that would duties on every week with -- of the army every week during the course of the season it's great to see again -- quoting you. Hey. That's what. It's more dangerous having max quote something that you apparently said that having Larry -- or something about acts that's what dangerous. I'm actually wanna you wanna bring this guy at the basket at the I don't I don't really care like this that would really you know any that was -- in the we've talked about used up about. Reggie Jackson felt about your -- off the record. Not now now I wasn't threatened to baseball field so that all the -- The -- in any and all illegals as though he said this rate these numbers weren't as good -- them. Sports. -- for you and everything now in qualifying it no way for you what did you gains. Cuts."
" If that's what they told me at eleven of which and it appears now what do games where. Will. It I'd rather ask you about the game last night."
" It will block and we'll talk about some of the other -- have -- to be pleased nice. Opening night after. A rough first few minutes but I guess the year expecting something like -- playing on the road. Author of the game was I like to the first few minutes of an effect for Cleveland made every shot went in there's just you know make it step back seventeen foot jumpers it. You know that might have been a blessing and -- shoot them. You know I think he was three for three and ended -- three for nine so I mean I think I was happy the way we're playing the first part of the game even in just. And I felt very good about the game all the way through our second unit was huge last night they came in and and I've calmed us down and you know start make its baskets and -- it stops at this it was it was fun to watch the."
" The second unit looks like it's going to be key for this team how many minutes do you think and -- I mean it's not even fair to ask you for a specific number. But is it fair to say that when you've got some veteran players on here that are up there needs a little bit you've gotta be careful doing it take. Distributing the minister in the course of the season and now you've got the death to be able to do that."
" Yeah. I think minutes art you know really over rated and -- talked as if Kelly to pitch count. I think that you know when he gets to a certain point it depends on how many games you played you know what kind of game is. You know Ray Allen minutes I think different computers minutes as an example -- really. Carries heavy burden of scoring in the way he scores in the physical game he plays were raid in state spots up a lot of our office in the minutes -- different. But having said that. I think we're very concerned about. April me. In June much more than we are in November and December and so we don't wanna -- men on and doc even has gone through training camp. With that mindset and -- practices in travels and shooter rounds and everything he's doing this idea if nobody sleeps right here right. Which big baby asleep yeah."
" It's. -- hope."
" And early. -- That's a good -- your chin area. I. But is everybody's sleep until noon now understandably is almost always shoot no shoot around anymore the day of -- in the meetings in the hotel or whatever it. You like college I do I do like that stuff when I was coach in Phoenix -- As a player you know I always thought -- rounds were the most overrated thing. They thought they were that beneficial. -- rounds when I coached we did a lot of she counts as we practice facility in the -- And we would show up at 5 o'clock that the players retain the information better rather than 10 o'clock in the morning that they were able to sleep. -- bid that this should -- start a lot of coaches like the children in the morning is because they think they're getting guys at a bad. And we're learning now that. That's bad you know even if they're going to badly you don't wanna wake them up per you'd rather have them sleep till noon. That's better that's better alternative now. I know it's just when it. So and I say it's with a with apologies and with respect oh there we go our way up with Leon and Posey and PJ brown and everyone knows who's coming on -- that none none that. It was great -- but is this the best -- executed. He you know I don't know I mean potentially its agreement. You know marquee -- in -- terrific players Andy's -- has been dynamite. Glen Davis had a fantastic training camp and he'll be back healthy and in freshman in his rested when it's -- that it could be and you know I I do think it's it's a very good dent and it's the best bench we've had the last few years -- For sir -- how did."
" ill -- for both people you know a lot like that so well how that people. Really miss -- marquee states. I mean because no one seemed to know it in you know I know it's much about it I think she gave -- to know how good Larry Neal I don't know how. You know how good he was that the that you this revenue analyst Larry it's hard to."
" Are you yeah. They -- again if you don't I read a book that I ever read and I got -- all max's side. I'm a big Macs and a hilarious to a and you know I mean things happened within the course of the team over time but I mean now I am interested to read latency. But Tom Gilligan isn't that really fascinating stuff from the period you're playing -- eulogy. Well the move would talk about market -- he's now -- marquis marquis citizens you know the two teams that really wanted Markey says summer the Celtics were Indiana wanted him back. And they were trying to resigning and they they didn't exercise the options seven and half million but they were trying to signing for a number of greater than the number that we pay him. And -- policy of the team at -- keys so I think that the teams he's played -- two teams that Rick Carlisle spent some time with him I think when he was in Indiana. So those with the people that really wanted and I -- mark he's the most around the league and he has had some injury issues. -- but he played really well against us last year and -- that we think he's a good fit because of his versatility. His ability to handle the ball make plays off the dribble. Come defend. And it you know. But I think -- really complement Eddie House and them and Rasheed with his ability to him the ball as a bigger guy as well liked it what was ego at some of the things they do. No he's the I think he's completely different maps mania -- again until I want limo ride it right the Posey was pretty much it 34. And a spot up -- he couldn't be he never got to the line he didn't handle the ball he didn't trouble the ball very well. But he defended more than wing players this is the bigger wings. Whereas you know -- is different he's a 123. And a ball handler and penetrator."
" How comfortable you feel with them at that one if you lost for Rondo for a period of time. I feel you know we know we don't wanna lose anybody in Iraq and should declare but I think you look at -- if you lose Rondo. Before Daniel's this year you're looking at it saying well this can be difficult for the -- we start the past it was difficult to win games without Rondo. Mainly because it and of strong and appoint -- was asked the play at the out of position does Daniels comfortable enough to analysts. You know first while."
" I don't agree I think we have been able to win games without Rondo and that affect him one of the greatest wins we have -- two years ago in the playoff run was we were coming back after you go back to back after beating Utah. Lakers are waiting force we destroyed the lakers here were playing in LA. Big game for them national TV and -- starts point has eighteen points in the first half we blow lakers up by twenty without on the plane. I think there's you know I think that Tony Allen will be back soon we have -- by the point and he'll play the point he actually plays. Really well with our starters when -- handles the ball more rate and also while mornings -- ball. The tough team to guard matchup with -- and so I'm not you know short term I think we can get by with anybody short term. A Tyronn -- is part of your staff now yes his vision. Yeah she wore coach -- disease still wanna Paula you know he so tired -- was hoping to play we brought him in for work outs spent about week with this. And we decided that we were going with Lester Hudson. And that we like clusters upside we think he's terrific shooter he's strong physical body long arms. And so -- he he wanted to continue playing and I gave him an opportunity come work with us. And he said that he was ready for that yet so couple weeks later I think this opportunity to play it was there for him easterners."
" Is this still the possibility that he could play if you had an emergency if you if you had if you were you were down players -- You know others. There's probably 2030 guys up there and better quality and players that don't have jobs. As the league is eliminated about 3540 jobs. And so there's there's a lot of guys in there will be more guys come available as the year goes on now now correct me if I'm wrong when you went to gonna tell -- To persuade him to -- to sign with the Celtics and make their trade happen. And Tyrone who opened the door the halftime it was at this house he was there any evidence that with KG was rehabbing a knee surgery. And he was there and actually he spoke very highly of -- who here played for. In Orlando in and was influential in getting cagey about what he said to me that did. He said after you left. Garnett like wanna go to Boston why well it's too cool while it's cold Minnesota to -- is no way to go we never want anyway I mean the -- was giving all the reasons. To come of the Celtics. That maybe you didn't get out there and and now he's hearing from a player as opposed to the guy who runs the Celtics so. He played an interest in Roland that'll thing I think he did play interest -- I think that KG has a good relationship with Chauncey and with time and and I think both of those guys having tie it was a big advocate for dock and I think that that was the at least that was the story that I heard from KG. And I think KG wanted to come to Boston as soon I think he always wanted to come to possibly as soon as Ray Allen came on board when that's my recollection of adult thing."
" Let me ask you about big baby and a few guys are still call them think maybe win here in the offices are growing I'm glad. It's obvious you're. The whole organization is disappointed in his actions. In your correspondent your conversation with a ball over the last couple days have you got the feeling from him. That he gets he understands that I thought I must tell you this but it was interest thing. That he didn't reveal the details of what happened and it's so bizarre what happened that you actually do believe ticket it's it's that bizarre out here."
" Give -- credit because he came clean right from the beginning when he came and told mean the story. You know at the police report you know a few hours after that in the police report was pretty identical to what you said. And that you that it beat -- Of the -- the so Q what are."
" Punch up again who's actually drive your car held now leads you clearly got that I don't know the -- out of their. Hands. That's you're a X I. Doesn't that it does have many. It in it's twofold any when you hear about something like that he really seems like a nice kid I don't know that while but he seems like a really nice kid and he's obviously. Gotten much better shape this year so -- Friday -- looked terrific. Obviously. You you've got a question what he's thinking when a kid does something like this I mean and I don't we talked about -- Larry and it's and it. At a bar where apparently somebody provoked him and it you know cost you guys know."
" About 2645. Twice and then they have. It happens I -- really in the woods in the book. But we felt sorry hello Larry stupid. Stupid things. And so you know -- I mean it's it's devastating to him first -- devastating us. It's not what anybody sign that do witnesses and we just -- to get it does he understand it now I think -- he's he's pretty devastated but what he's done well by the facilities can be -- ideas -- the couple that cost him put him ride in you know and plus he wants to play in the guys worked really hard to get himself ready to -- mean. That can't be on in so it would try to get him back and give him in the right frame of mind and maybe you'll be pressured everybody else -- weeks in better shape and it's the good thing is it's a common I mean you know units queries that the big thing -- me with. Every it was he developed that shot meaning if evidence of really nation -- a place here. Any chance the Longley he's gonna lose that. Your chances. But we really because we have receding KG. You know we'd like for him to -- fewer shots you know his role required of them last year when he replaced cagey about it. I think it we like him around the real more rebounding he's he's terrific catch the ball round the basket machine read space and -- rebounding. So I don't think the shots as critical but I think -- take time did it acts upon a watch like you but let's not use a way that's not that the reason we know. The other in this shot you don't do -- from fifteen. I eagle feather in he had a nice who shot lies that you if you guys but I'm just trying to get do you judge you based Alter much you can do that and we don't not by ever feathers -- nasty food -- shot --"
" Let's start we'll see you little stereo baseball questions I support a baseball player I was his lexicon -- and straight in the eye to straighten them out at you guys declined the suspension or fine if any of that but defiant and is this a situation where. Com if you suspend him. He goes away and you don't want him to go away because you need to be around him -- him around you guys to be able to get him back in the playoffs you know there's for."
" Ammonia league suspensions when they come out from the league there's all sorts of restrictions of involvement with the team team suspensions you can dictate what can you. There's some restrictions but you know it's also meant -- networks you know we can find teams suspend him that matter what the terminology is assist. We want him around team won continuing to learn things be on the players and you work out and be part of the team published shift -- set here. Because some of them actually Boleyn -- For what happened to me when Larry Bird. Actually blame because because -- what what was that you said a minute ago the last close below."
" Books and cracked up top hat. He pretty thick. Book that you agree. To any candidate was supposed to joke but nobody got five. What is it there aren't any we got -- boy got a -- that was -- prepared yet to happen -- when it came from baseball career job I've told max. Maybe mistake at the -- As that John. He he was -- play in Baltimore Baltimore they beat us out Landry and and -- is great pitching staff. And left handed pitchers and -- message -- and play in this week egos. You know it thirty this year at 131 into income and I -- any and he says -- I'm closed the -- I stands -- and so that it was a stolen and and so what insulin that's the island from John Kerry and so then I remember I don't even know have no idea what's in the book but so much much funny story with Maxwell is. -- plane Cleveland the year he's free and he's playing against me he wouldn't play gets money Shelton. And max's max is warmer and -- for the gaming -- hinges destroyed Johnny Davis like a week before Saturday's. And it said would be doing goes. I can't play that popped and I said when he goes on closed the book Erica. I'm appreciate this over the guy could end my career and missile then sold and max comes in place of the next year he signed contract. And we're playing against money so they don't max what do you do when you that's possibly innocent -- career and he goes yes he could in my career yeah. I any ideas John Avery signed with the Phillies that's odds on in the stands and watch in the game --"
" So every day we read something no. Rajon Rondo. Is gonna sign a new contract then it's off the negotiations have done. Is Saturday really. A deadline that you're that concerned with right now because. He can only become a restricted free agent at the end of the season it's not critical."
" You really it it's almost over you know. It it's a typical situation because. Is he risking a bigger contract for next year are we risking and you know pain him more and having to match a contract next year ultimately he wants to be here we want him. Here and so it's this kind of trying to figure out the future and what what sort of -- money out that there's a lot of money -- free agent market next year. There's a lot of teams with cap space there's a lot of teams that like Rondo as I found out this year you know about the draft rumors there was even a lot more discussion. Of people that have are very high on Rondo and the way he played the playoffs last year so. You know potentially he can make more money in the you know than what he's even asking. Com potentially could make class but you know it it's just all it's just all about finances and trying to predict the future right now but. I think that the group did negotiations have been very cordial I think it. You know Rondo doesn't seem to be stressed his agent doesn't seem to be stressed we don't seem to be stressed it doesn't seem like oh my gosh we have this major deadline we have to get something done its release. Just a financial decision on all -- part."
" Well I lent money that's out there. Is it a different situation and we've seen in the past restricted free agents usually. The player ends up signing -- his own team or it's a trade rather sign and trade deal that's done because of the money and the other team trying to fitted it. Are the -- going to be able to fit him in in the situation when you talk about him -- money there's a lot of teams in the next year and you know you have this big group of free agents LeBron James we've all heard about and I'm gonna Eagles talk about free agents we know all this camper next careful replied and so you know there's a whole bunch -- Right there's a -- there's a whole bunch of guys out there and so what realistically most of those guys stay with losing teams and so a free agent. Such as Rondo become you know moves higher up that that list the names as. That other players stay with their teams which is most likely -- it can be paid so much more money by the teams are currently -- And so there's risk on on everybody's part but there's it's not like if I was looking at this last year. And you know -- and at this year's free agent market even before the economic issues. There just wasn't that much money and still you know with Glen Davis we were fortunate. With side because he became very close he was getting a lot more money. In a couple circumstances and it just didn't work offer for various reasons but. You know Gortat got a boatload of money more money that they could you know they would have been able to get him for a lot cheaper the year before. Millsap same way I mean. Got a lot more money -- you -- ever imagined. And so you know there's that risk for us with the electorate on such you know he's such an up and coming players he's improving all the time. So I'm that would stalled you know there were weighing their risk and we're weighing."
" Risk that what the numbers were heard were five report by this others offered you're looking at the -- referred to five and sixty and then you hear from 3 last and this morning. That the Celtics have upped the offer is that mr. -- group. There's some truth to that but I will reveal what was -- a little bit just between. There's the there's just a little bit truth and in some of that report. -- more than a rudderless but it's not -- but it's not an accurate report that would not. I ask that accurate in by the way this is for breakfast it was here in the story you you scouted Arizona's high school right did yes -- it as far as like interest."
" Is it tough player to figure out when you when you look at another year restricted free agency and that after that you can become an unrestricted free agent. You're looking at the value of today. For that extension and he may be looking at the you don't know what the values going to be next year or the year after that so seems to be probably uncertainty as to what is his value we ask you this question. I think back in the spring and he said he's not a maximum contract guy nobody could be a maximum contract guy down the road. Although economists note that means he's got to get better to become a player we aware of how you evaluate that now when you're really giving a guy an extension that. It actually happens a year from now."
" It's hard to evaluate and you just look in his have to it's the look test its -- go to all the statistics away. In -- where he's at the stage his career verses you know Steve Nash or Tony Parker you know all these other guys Johnson built where they -- that is their careers and you know -- try to do as many evaluations -- that's really tell the story about run those though they'll -- is such a unique. Probably it would all the different things like last night too great operas -- rebounds in the situation that he was pretty much you get Shaq. You you don't see heat to -- he is the motion neat point guard the southern tip ever in in the ability to do different things that I mean I did see who's deeply if you. But it all the other point -- for the losses would never release this deals that run well you know it's he has been known you were talking to bill -- that it has and that nobody -- I tell you what it's true max makes a good point in -- He is it's difficult. You know he is a difficult guy that we evaluate weakness. -- he's unique in his game and or great read about it and it's I mean there's games where I mean -- won the championship. There were games where it was tough to put him on the court. And then there's games where he was the best player amongst four hall of famers. On the court as the best player in the -- if that of the call will be better than Paul is the best player out there so. It is unique and it's difficult and you know use shocks them that to use -- and you see some progress in you know I've seen progress this month. In English on as well so were hoping that he gets you know continues to progress and he's our guy for along -- have."
" This along those lines pitcher putting him in the context. Of the other guys that are out there on the floor with him. When you're talking about giving him an extension my guess is -- long term and you have to think of him in terms of not playing with those guys -- playing without the bodies -- The fact that he still has developed a real solid outside shot fact that he still has developed a great free throw shot and he draws files. Does that concern you go forward. And that you can look at it it what he is right now and I community to set about his uniqueness here. What's he gonna be like when you put them with different players around."
" Well there's and so the -- might just -- board right well you know so so right now he's proven. Statistically in his young career of these these last three years. He weighs every bit as effectively. With one of the stars on the court. Three core. Now it last in the playoffs there's no KG. He's out there averages almost triple double in the playoffs and Paul was struggling something gains rate some terrific games but he had to those guys equity Altria. So that notion that he needs all three guys for him to be effective but the question is. It's not question whether he can be effective would agree it's -- question is always in. Without trees so there's a difference he's proven he can be effective players contribute he can be the best players in the GM without playing with those three guys. But you know Nazis and it's about guys he's -- Paul -- Fiji's so. -- he's difficult one but the bottom line is long. Bull cookies. You know always as well armed great characteristics and he's the guy that we we would like to see. Around it. This -- the first deadline doesn't really have any bearing on whether we hope for the future."
" think when you look at this. There -- no demands on either side to get this thing done right right well you know that's right. I think in a -- every day -- a different story idea I don't see how you get this deal done by Saturday. I'm less -- two. Find a way to meet somewhere in the middle and then again he's hard to define him for both sides. I did it's great seeing again congratulations on your first winless -- have a great season."
" Execute me Jim that you in this book over -- and a very good they are you. I can't tell -- story you know you're you have it -- well but now we -- part of this was because of that you tell what do we tell Larry it's only to volume listened to dominate restored and I'd -- I love John mayberry but I closed the books. And thanks Danny we'll talk to every week during the regular season and throughout throughout the plan also take a quick break we'll be right back to uncles."
