" Well it is time as we do each and every week if this time due up. Connect up what are NFL guru from Sports Illustrated SI dot com and NBC sports' Peter King. Brought to you by -- double Mexican grill handmade for real. Log -- of the dale holly patron WEEI dot com to receive today's special lunchtime offer or text QB OB -- 645. 336. Hello Peter how aria. You I think all of us are operating a little less sleep than normal after -- staying up till the wee hours last night I got to ask you Peter are you worried are you worried about this series."

" Well I wasn't immensely confident to be -- I mean you know first TiVo. The angels starting pitching is better in the red and I am I don't know Bernie I'm in the minority when I say that but. You know when Scott Kazmir in Joe Saunders period burden for murder I like that will be better than Claybrook of -- And you know who knows how these games are gonna go. But I just think it might be eighty years that the angels -- have miniature form but you know they -- obviously hoping that that's not the case."

" I was reading one of the fine interviews. That did them. That did that people wrote about you people were interviewing you when you in the tables were turned -- an interview and somebody else. And one of the interviews. Was in a Wall Street Journal by the -- big deal Peter King. And the other one. With a big lead -- you said the angels are gonna win the World Series."

" I'd I'd -- I'd really like and -- like there's been a really like they're the and I mean I was gonna there was -- Prevent them from running in taking extra base they're just they're very daring. And may be Yadier Molina is in the National League but now the cardinals got to win three -- that the weirdest. If the weirdest and we gain new."

" It was strange it was -- change."

" Where apparently. It was the white. Towels they're -- white little face cloth whatever you call those that that the fans were waving. That god in -- holidays dot."

" While Holliday said it was the lights it was one of his tolerate it he says it was. It was the towels."

" I thought it Adam Wainwright was quoted at. Some about it being -- competitive disadvantage. You know if they're allowed to. Who waved white and maybe it is I don't know but it's just it was just strange it was just the kind of outcome that. It's fun for the people and LA -- it -- straight -- is kinda generally unfair but hey -- that we export our but. I'll tell you -- I don't know if you guys watch the Minnesota Detroit game."

" A lot of that was -- Citic as."

" Lions -- it one of the best baseball games any of us obviously of ever -- mean. -- that was absolutely tremendous either I'm kicking myself I was at our game Monday night. And a bunch of people were saying geez I'm just gonna stay in. Why on Wednesday morning incident Tuesday but I mean I'm. On the road so much it's not really an option that I like to do even now -- have been tremendous fun I was to think -- I'm. Sit here watching that on Tuesday night how much fun it would have been who have actually been there but that was that was terrific."

" Let's go back to football and you tell me are the Denver Broncos -- four -- Denver Broncos for real."

" Well I'll I'll just say this I think I watched a little bit. Not a lot but I watched one. One of their -- Against the cowboys because I I ended up writing Canadian might write a column about Elvis Dumervil. I think you'd be real and he's real ample everybody will be ample for Matt Light and whoever -- Blocks. To get help this weekend. But he's he's really good but I think one of the things that is interesting about this scene right now. That that I think is going to be difficult. And that this is what Mike Nolan is doing. He's kind of playing. On his on his defensive front. Case plane at 34 on obvious running down -- or read the rest of the time and a lot of times what he's doing unions. It's not quite as poem with philosophy where you move one of the defensive linemen back in the coverage linebacker defensive back come. -- move a defensive lineman out of it -- just that the snap of the ball. Move it into a neighboring GAAP and have somebody else what that -- all of a sudden there's this moment of indecision. For the guard -- center attack or should I stay with my guy or MI moving. Our or -- might pick it up this next guy you come. It Cree it create a lot of problems so far but it seems they played well I think the speed. Of -- the -- And the fact that. That they're just they're executing it very well how things somebody this morning how how amazing it is. That there's been new -- and would totally new concepts. And they're buying into it in the air airplane it superbly right now and I'll just say one other thing. You remember that we spent the off season have the western world was just there authority countdown on judgment in new job. One of the things that I thought was interesting that Elvis Dumervil -- I didn't I didn't put this in my column that is mostly about the rumor -- But he said you know -- that every got 95%. Attendance. In our in our off season program in -- and Aaron were were kind of laughed and that the people on the outside. If it's ridiculous personal we have more people -- offseason program that we ever had. And everybody is is love this new defensive system. And on offense or any they would find any that I there was this big disconnect between. You know what people were thinking about and what the reality actually was but to me it is a great. Acknowledgment. How well you're buying into -- coaches scheme if you do something totally different. And you've mastered it by the first month these."

" Peter I was -- about this earlier we were talking about Josh McDaniels but I think it goes around. That to other cities and National Football League -- and that is that. Josh McDaniels is a young guy has never played the National Football League in his early thirties. And in his defensive coordinator who just mentioned Mike Nolan his dad was a coach Mike Malone is a former head coach -- coordinator of the ravens. Do you think it's is is it odd four some of these older guys. To have a young head coach like mcdaniels. Or rocky mores. Or or or somebody come in and -- it Eric Mangini. Tell them something even though these guys probably know more football than the boss if you think it's. -- you look at that dynamic and and look at it as a little bit -- interest and."

" Yeah very much and I think that's the way the world is going. At a very interest in our last week -- We Gregg Williams. Defensive coordinator this thing. When great Williams went for the thing. Wanted to get some things there were kind of important whom one was in and obviously make the most money that it was either going to be. Green -- New Orleans or somewhere in the needed. 12 million -- not definitely not only in the more than a million. And so he was gonna make the most money that. The second. He wanted to -- on. That was done had been a player at Princeton it's really great it's studies he gained. It's got like all a lot of money all concepts about the weight gain a football played. And great Williams that you know that the trend now. Yeah hire young coaches. Who don't use you don't have to pay a lot of -- You know like -- and onion gets fired he was made in seven. And just we Iranians making whatever I don't even know but it's been estimated two point five. So and then as Williams said then -- backstop -- veteran coaches. Kyle Shanahan in in -- you know whatever 2829. Years old right now and he's got Gary Kubiak who's. You know whatever twenty years older than he is. And you've got Alex Gibbs who could be his grandfather Romo you know that your reading a little bit somewhere that -- sixty years old. And noticed two guys are the guys who were back stopping in the making sure these that would make -- eight year old state. But -- Michael I think it have to be done in the situation. Where there's truck. Where the older guys respect the younger guys and obviously it's that case and then."

" Peter based on performance through the first quarter of the season. Who's been more overrated Julius Peppers -- Richard Seymour."

" Julius Peppers I mean things are at least at one game in our had a really good game and its first game. You know. For -- I just I've just been railing about Julius Peppers for some time now. You know you don't. Makes million dollars a week -- and back again. A year in his career is the production doesn't match the payment. And I -- I don't I don't understand people keep saying void left -- everything you know what at the right price I'd love to have them. He'd be really pretty good good two way and he'd be great the patriot system. India really good two way and but you know these for some reason. The Panthers felt like they absolutely had to have them. And they paid sixteen point seven million the question is now especially in this very strange -- coming out where he's going to be a free agent I would. I would be surprised. If you get the franchise tag put out again and make payable -- And that's totally preposterous. But somebody's probably in the -- you know whatever 121415. Xenia."

" If the DA's office on the west coast files charges against Tom cable. Will Roger Goodell have to suspend him."

" I'm not sure he'd. I know. A bit about this case right now in the -- reaction to it and I think that we basically. Looks at 81 time offender. Most often in this way. They basically say that okay. You. Yeah we're giving you the benefit of the doubt now it's just like the Braylon Edwards and his -- case. Continue to benefit of the doubt and we're not doing anything to view until they're either. A conclusion reached. I and the cases adjudicated or a preponderance of evidence suggests that your guilty. So in other words there's gonna be a difference between Pacman Jones. And it and top cable if Tom cable has not been involved in like this before. They are gonna let the legal system. You know. Proceed and and see what they -- they're gonna do. And I think the league is in no rush to judgment if the leak was gonna rush to judgment. This is the Oakland Raiders only east coast appearing this year. They're gonna be in Pittsburg and Cleveland about talking about within a stone's throw of the NFL office. Roger Goodell is not meeting with top cable tomorrow or Sunday. -- murder her as -- right yours though so. So he you know -- because they're not gonna be meeting. That tells you that the league is the league is still monitoring but they've taken away yet it."

" You mentioned Braylon Edwards a few minutes ago who won that trade the browns -- for the jets."

" Well there's no way you can no one for two years I mean on the surface I don't think it's a very big race to take the jets basically. From the looks of it and how they're playing right now they have traded. And I'll just put numbers. That says Ayers you know of this. They have traded the you know the 85 pick in the draft. And the 140. Pick in the draft. -- utility aryan -- for receiver Chansi Stuckey. And Larry -- tight. Chastened president who's -- was valuable I mean look at how valuable is it was for the patriots but. -- that that is fair trade and and and the jets. Basically get a guy it was the third pick in the draft. Who I don't think really loves football as much as. A lot of guys do. And so. You know wolf the if Rex Ryan and can make him love football little bit more and make a contributing player could mean to mean. Michael what I think this is this is going to be Roger Clemens on the ground. You know he -- in Braylon Edwards would have always been a disappointment in Cleveland because hey. He doesn't have a quarterback who can reliably get in the ball downfield. And be even when he does in the drop a lot of so maybe goes to the jets. Brian Schottenheimer -- these things form they keep the quarterback cleaner. With the jets and they -- in Cleveland he gets an opportunity to catch a few more ball downfield. But with the same results of happening in Cleveland I doubt -- the same thing with. Roger Clemens the year he he left. The red starts with he has. What you've done the same thing when he won multiple -- after that four year period where he was whatever 4140. I doubt it."

" But you just nailed it -- you nailed it seven of the difference between what many differences between Roger -- Braylon over Roger Roger Clemens like to compete. So much so that he was gonna cheat. Braylon Edwards I don't think he's got it he he."

" And what Michael I thought that for some time I mean. I've been around him I actually like and I really do but. Any does some good things. For for some it in Cleveland so I -- this is not a bad guy at all. But I -- question how much he really wants to be great player I just don't think it burns inside of now but I could say that about 500 NFL players. I think and I think a lot of players in the NFL. Like the life and like the money more they like beginning. And so how much does it matter in the end if you go in you'd give it everything you have on Sunday. You're gonna be a pretty good player for somebody and I think that's that's what the -- are counting on the -- ranking get that out of."

" Peter is as dale noses. I think I finally learned my lesson after four straight losses by the Tennessee Titans. A victim and we to a victim and we three epic from last week. No way in hell my pick in the Tennessee Titans to win and this week I've given up on the Tennessee that would happen to them."

" Well I think a couple of things I think that. They lost some of their CRB. And when -- short left uptake effective. And we might even talked about it at first -- when they stop bullets and and with about five minutes left in the fourth quarter net -- And they allowed Ben Roethlisberger. Not to go down field. You know against the premium -- on a couple of plays and and yes I just think -- chuck Cecil. Needs to. Needs to a new defensive coordinator in need to keep throwing the book actually when he Evans and that's I think that's one part of that. I don't think that means -- things killer but it's certainly is a factor because in the 60% in the place he played with a guy who was there are blocked. And the fact is they -- they're not it's consists offenses they worry year ago they make it more mistakes on offense. And I think that even a tip if -- so last Sunday that he was not. Going to replaced carry around this week. I would need they're quite frankly because this is your absolute last gas. Playoff hope if you don't know what five know what I've seen it ever made the plate and gone on the whale. So you know. This is it this is your last chance to -- want. In young. You know why one experimenting -- in playing a game that matters for the first time and almost two years. Why want him in a playoff type game against Dwight Freeney and and and Robert -- I might wanna in the second half as if -- it's sacked five times in the first step but I don't think that's gonna happen but I do think that those."

" We always appreciate time enjoy your football weekend we'll talk to next week thanks for what they -- here take care Peter Peter King from Sports Illustrated SI dot com."
