" It's the Red Sox today's from Fenway Park. This is -- Herb Chambers Lexus pregame show and it's time for the clubhouse insider Alex let's start with the story that you helped tracked down from Japan and the quotes published from a Japanese reporter was Daisuke Matsuzaka in Fort Myers and it's -- kind of make. Chain of events in terms of reaction to Daisuke is apparent unhappiness with the way the Red Sox are asking him to performance work out routines."

" This is essentially an issue that is now almost three years in the making. When Daisuke came over it was a much discussed how exactly would he change his throwing Richmond. Which is not which follows a Japanese practice code not to call me which is. This exhaustive throwing program in which you know you throw 10200. Pitch bullpen sessions. The Red Sox -- that when he came over they never made changes to his program. Until testing revealed weaknesses in the shoulder that required them to adjust. How he was going about his work in between starts but you know there's a very different practice in Daisuke grew up with. Versus what the Red Sox typically implement they do try to individualized their shoulder program. But there's a philosophical divide between the two sides. About what the most efficient way for him to be good it is Daisuke maintains now that the reason why he's injured is because. Is because he's followed the US the US training program the Red Sox training program or at least that's what he said -- article and he said it also. In meetings with team officials. The Red Sox obviously feel very differently pointing to guys like. Brad Penny like Jon Papelbon Mike you know Josh Beckett and saying that this these are all components of why there of -- these guys are healthy and effective. It was supposed to be a private conversation that was what the team felt. Terry Terry Francona said that the disappointment was not that Matsuzaka had a point of view on this matter but instead that he took what was said. In a kind of linking involves private meeting and made it public. And so as a result the Red Sox are in the middle having to put out a bit of a a bit of a controversy but Matsuzaka -- you know comments were very very pointed. About saying that he didn't know he could be the pitcher he wasn't Japan the most he trains like the pitcher that he wasn't Japan. And so there's clearly there's a gap between the two sides."

" Yeah I mean reading those Colts it didn't seem like a guy that it found any sort of middle ground any sort of compromise in -- specifically said I can't back down from this one. Yet when you listen to the Red Sox talk it's more case of hey I thought we had an understanding here. Either they don't have an understanding here somebody's that there's some kind of after."

" Absolutely and part of that is you know Matsuzaka bought into the idea that he didn't need to go down to Fort Myers foray. You know since -- total body conditioning this isn't just -- program at this point. But he you know probably showed up in spring training it's not little bit out of shape. And as a result you know he was putting more stress on his -- to do more of the work because. The rest of his body wasn't you know wasn't helping out to distribute. That task in so. You know there's there is clearly some kind of confusion because the Red Sox did think that they were getting onto the same page following a meeting that they had with Daisuke last week. And then Daisuke makes these comments and so it seems like well maybe that's not some they've concluded he's somewhat frustrated. But there's an -- there. Finally Alex a Clay Buchholz starts tonight's start 31 good 11 below average one. And he's also fronts and all of these trade discussions at least the rumors. He's been their furlong time too because he's a very very talented guy with a lot of really impressive pitches at least in terms of Ross stopped. In so he says you know I've spent my career basically in the Middle East trade rumors. So it doesn't really bother me anymore for him the important thing is to be effective and if he's that then -- be affected by the with the Red Sox over the long term. Or with another team but certainly you will hear his name plenty between now. In dive now and Friday in some of that is going to depend I'm sure they're going to be a tennis out here or scrutinizing just about everything he throws tonight. -- Alex thanks as always we'll talk to assume thanks so much on."

" And remember you can catch that conversation along with -- all of our pre game features that WEEI dot com just click on audio on demand. Right now it's time for the Red Sox trivia question sponsored by KGB. Where are the ball fans located. All of the answer later in the show with a -- like the answering immediately. You can text that question or any other two KGB KGB which is 542542. On your wireless phone. And the KGB team will have the answer for you -- seconds KGB they answer to you. Stay tuned -- got a trip around a major leagues on -- also one of the on field ceremonies for Jim rice's number retirement. This is -- Herb Chambers Lexus pregame show on the WRKO Red Sox radio network."
