Automatically Generated Transcript (may not be 100% accurate)

" We got our first hint on Monday when in Monday morning quarterback. Peter King put the little tease out there. Net that I he had spoken to Tom Brady and that he would have a more substantial. Column interview with Tom Brady coming up in Sports Illustrated this week. -- he mentioned in Monday morning quarterback that it was the cover story of this week's edition but it is. Repeat -- big picture of Tom Brady on the front cover. The online site SI dot com ran the story yesterday which is good thing for me because. Mail being what it is I'll get this week's edition of Sports Illustrated just before the fourth of July I think now rent them. Those I get three yesterday we talked about it yesterday. I mean it was all the stuff we wanted to hear is -- it was all good it was all positive. There was not a negative to be hanging out at all it was everything wasn't. Talked about healthy and working out with teammates he's been. He's been thrown with Randy Moss and Wes Welker and all those guys that dozen times. I mean Peter King took the -- of new England and elevated it by 75 degrees hello Peter how are. Dale Mike that's my job now of him out of the on the welcome likened. This is that Elena holly leadoff spot here on Sports Radio. Brought few on the eighteenth -- hotline AT&T your world delivered. While Peter I'm just curious before we get into the specifics of what he said. Tell me how he looked at how we set it that when you talked last week. You know he was."

" Absolutely normal. I I couldn't I couldn't have told the difference between. Either of the last couple years when I met him in the summer and talked to normal little bit and and last week. He's insistent that. He's not going to have any problem coming back in any way. From this and that he felt fine heats. Totally fired up about. -- you know about his group of receivers and as I eight. As I wrote I mean. I really think that it's going to be very very interesting. To see what happens if Joey Galloway can stay healthy now last year. You know at 836. Turning 37. Which is obviously about five years too long for receiver. This guy was hurt the whole year but the previous three years he only miss one game due to injury. An eight is 3435. And 36 so. You know again. It's easy to sit here and say Joey galleys that a shot in the dark and any whale he well might be. They certainly haven't broken the bank to sign him but I think one of the things that excites Brady is that. You won't win win win Jabar Gaffney and Donte' Stallworth were on the team two years ago. There really wasn't that guy on the other side of the field. Who runs a 44. And who may be your American at double. But you've got to do something more than put. And nickel guy or or you know just just the passable serviceable NFL corner on them. And who knows maybe he won't last the odds are certainly that he won't last but I know that. Brady's pretty excited about them and I think at the very least. Based on his history I would say that great Lewis is probably good serviceable. The you know slot guy. You can play inside along with -- Welker so. I mean I think that they probably you're gonna have a chance to be. I and and a chance to be as good as they were a couple years ago. I mean both Welker to me in mosques to ESPN at both said he thought that they thought that they could be better. And it's hard to be better than average at 38 points a game now but. I think the signs are probably all pointing in a positive way."

" Speaking of positive things that Dan Shaughnessy in this column today gives you credit has a line of the day says these days it's rare -- anybody at Gillette Stadium. Grant an interview of substance without cash changing unhappiness."

" A yeah eight let me tell you sound that. I I think I had about 35 cents in my pocket when I met him -- I can't even afford the globe and not."

" So output when asked you this though because it is -- to get some of these guys. Was Tom Brady up to track down for you Peter and did you get the sense that he was. Just bursting at the seems ready to tell a story to somebody."

" I think he was bursting at the -- rated talk myself. Now. I think one of the things he said to me Michael during the courses and don't ask me about why he -- now I don't I didn't even ask him I don't know. I'm happy did but I don'ts I don't ever ask you guys talk wiry Arkin had just talked. But one of the things that I believe that's interesting about circle life and times of robbery. Is it -- all of this stuff that goes on around him. And all of the all of the you know whatever you name it there are you having a baby. At the injured Dijjer bodyguards shoot. Shoot out car coast Rica. -- oh wire you in Brazil eaten ice cream when he ought to be working out I mean just all of this stuff. That. Has made the media and applaud them so much different in the last few years. I'm. I'm just so impressed how he can yes in essence. Chuckle about it and not really paid any mind because I think he what he is done. And we talked about this he says you know I've just built a lot of boundaries. And I've made a lot of rules then they're not going to be great he talked about this would mean last year in fact. Because there are times. When I can get in touch them and there are times when I can't. And it's the same way with the other players right now I mean -- beer occasions. Where I can text Brett Favre and there are occasions where. I'll go three months without hearing heighten your hair from -- so I don't think he's really all that much different but I think in his life in his world. He doesn't really care very much about what the public thinks and if he did. He'd probably be. Be addressing things almost immediately so. I think that's want to his strengths that he can let a lot of these things. Just sort of fly over his head and not paying any attention to. I think some people look at the paparazzi moments whether it's in Brazil leading -- screamer at the Museum of Fine Arts in New York City and a black tie."

" And they wonder if he still has the passion for football in the pockets on football but that was one thing I took got a year pieces he absolutely. He told me a funny story about the the ice cream photo because I just I thought it was hilarious -- he looks it looks like a goober. In the photo density you know yeah have you seen that it now. And -- she's driving out -- Because I mean it's what was happening is that she was giving him. A tour of her town. In Brazil. And so they stopped to get ice cream. And when she got back in the car you know she was gonna continue the tour hey here's my old school here's my house hears this. And when they get back in the car. This woman knocks on the window and says. That is now. Excuse me mining is so and so I'm from the local paper and I won't be able to go home tonight if I don't get a picture view. -- year old home town it's for the local paper could you please. Let me take a picture and she asked Tom and Tom just shrug your shoulders. Fine whatever. And so. You know within 24 hours he's getting text messages they have a good time in Brazil because that obviously the picture by that was all over the world you know. But. I just think those are the kind of things that happened to him. That he just sort of you know there's nothing that he can do I'll be honest and -- dale I've had that same thought. You know in this guy living this incredibly glamorous life and win one of the most famous women in the world. And he still. You know -- he still bring it does he still happen. In talking enhancements -- or leaned forward in his chair. And really kind of his voice three's a few octaves. Talkin' about how much he loves the game what else like -- do I don't bungee jump. I'm plane another ten years and then I'm gonna play more it really remind me what -- seems once said you know -- I played totally -- the uniform off. And I kinda think that's the -- will be with debris. Because you know what what what guy. Who really loves what he does which he obviously does. Once to drop it all just because he has enough money. To be able to do so what do you do Walt day when you're 32 years older 31 years old and what would you deal with terrorist -- right. You know sit on your beer beautiful deck. In in back bay you know get a sense you know there and you want to do something -- your life and there's nothing more. I get the feeling leases what he says nothing more. That he wants to do to be football player."

" You know is one thing from your piece. That they're really intrigued mean that was. Tom Brady and Randy Moss trying to figure out what they can do what what kind of signals they can have without verbal communication and the end of if Brady is now must and then it hit me. They're going over plays. And we don't know who the patriots offensive coordinator is so maybe we have overrated this whole O coordinator -- because Tom Brady Tom Brady. Is not waiting for an official system or waiting for coordinators instructions --"

" There's not Micah that's one of the things that I came away with two day -- offense. You Bill Belichick is going to I'm not saying he's going to determine everything about the offense but the new stuff. That they were working on. In my opinion this is not so the Brady told me but -- the new stuff here you know our tweaks. That art stuff. Is that stuff that that that Belichick. Brady in the offensive staff I'm sure because every team in the NFL self scouts. And every team in the NFL looks at what other teams are doing. Bill Belichick. Obviously. Is a huge -- and Urban Meyer I'd bet a hundred books that there's something weakness bread. -- going to see a little bit more this year. I mean I I still maintain to this day. That hit the patriots had the opportunity. I still think the Percy Irvin might have been their guy has the vikings not taken them. And so and they had -- fallen to them but I mean whatever. I don't think that there's -- mr. good bar out the year who's going to communion do very much to this offense. You know this offense is is on course and doesn't need to be --"

" You know I I I almost wonder if the rest of the AFC reads your piece in Sports Illustrated and goes up crap we had our chance this past year. And then you see little signs elsewhere how big -- deal is is this stuff out of Indianapolis in the comments of Peyton Manning. "

" Reminds me of the fact that it may. You know ten to fifteen years ago in the NFL. Peyton Manning would go from. The Pro Bowl until the first day training camp. And may -- have a charity appears Torre talked to reporters do. But that's it may be the meaning passing Kia maybe but now in the NFL. Every team is making players available except for July I would say until the started training camp every month of the year. Year repeat guy covered -- NFL team in your -- the team it's changed. And that's why I think that fifteen years ago meaning might economies and he says what the bleep is going on around here. And there's nobody around to talk. You know but now I I just think it's one of those things that hey listen. Peyton Manning the luckiest man on the face of the year he's at the same. Offensive coordinator same offensive line coach and the same franchise receiver. Go go on a you know going out for passes every day for a -- years every day. What quarterback in NFL history can say that I'd bet none. I mean the two most important coaches to you or your coordinator in your line coach even more important in the quarterback coach because that line coaches in church of protection. When you're good player like Peyton Manning is obviously your quarterback coach might fine tune in helping in that way but your offensive line coaches vital. You know what daily by my opinion is. That's an interesting story to look out for but I doubt sincerely. That the guys who Peyton Manning talks to walk it off the field this year and by the way. Just remember this Jim Caldwell. Is the guy when he would go to the to the bench and get on the phone. And talk that a guy upstairs that guy was Jim Caldwell. And that Jim Caldwell instead is going to be talking to -- he walks off the field as the head coach now. So I I don't buy that it's going to be vary much of the story in the."

" I was going to text -- last week and see if you had a fever you wrote that of the destinations. And Michael Vick can go to New England was one of the names that you cannot throughout there's no -- Peter you gotta be crazy but but seriously what we're do you think. Michael Vick will end up and what do you think the commissioner will do in terms of a punishment for Vick if any punishment."

" I think he's got to give something Michael and I think it's. I think the logical punishment. It's around half a season. I'd be surprised that the way active for the whole year I'd give I'd give a 48 games. And not so much for disgracing the game he's going to have been in prison for twenty months eighteen plus two of home confinement. So I think that'll be enough of that but to me Michael Vick was the serial -- You know for a year I mean light to get to know the light to -- Is owner Arthur blank -- everybody wouldn't say paid for. I don't I mean I think I think that is why. I think he paid for all it is. -- But in a court of law. He was not no one can hear what he said Roger Goodell or you're like how about I mean to me. I just personally find it incredibly objectionable. That you sign a 116. Million dollar contract. And time after time you look your order in the face the guy who's signing New York check and -- You look your commissioner. In the face when he asks you about it any sends you to Virginia Tech. To be the NFL ambassador. To a place where 32 people have been murder. And you're going under false -- I'm not trying to make -- seem like he's Albert Desalvo okay. I'm not. What I'm trying to make it seem like is I believe that use that he has the pay that he should pay if I were the commissioner. My feeling is that the twenty months for his dog crimes OK good now -- before eight more weeks to think about. You know what you've done to the NFL not only with that but because. You lied to us many many times in saying you know and."

" Altman and I were to Sam Peter -- just think if you have a when he months incarceration. You you have -- time to think about. Line Arthur blank and lying to you Roger Goodell and your NFL career gone up in flames all kinds of stuff you -- that played time --"

" had century hands but. So why I guess if I were Roger Goodell. I wouldn't it would be hard for me to forget a guy I've told on two occasions. Com. Lying to detail about it is bodies involvement non involvement a practice that's a personal thing to be. That if it were up to me. I would definitely -- him for that. But but as far as where he goes look. The patriots is -- wild guess that's what it is I told everybody this it's that it's an educated wild guess I'll put it. Just because. Bill Belichick. -- day you know and again. Myra Kraft and Bob Kraft by Arab Bob Kraft."

" I just saying you you know."

" Eight market involved Michael theory. But again I just look at Bill Belichick NIC guy says. Wow I could really use this guy. And you know no one is gonna tell me on this team -- don't mean because he can upset the -- color. Corey Dillon did indeed lost it in granted. They they're distraction level was 150. Of what -- well. But I look at the way the patriots handle everything. And that place to be a fortress Michael Vick ever went there so again Michael it's an it's an educated wildcats would mean. The best place for Michael Vick is in the world -- They've got they've got quarterback. Who at least in my mind. Uses. Totally bulletproof right now and you know is going to be secure enough in his job that he's not gonna look on patent say why you bring in this guy's hand. Mean the New Orleans Saints are going to have to out score people all season offseason. -- deep -- not going to be. And -- my way of thinking. You know you've got one great player. On that often -- rate now agrees -- Bush's big disappointment. You know who well who else is gonna make me please it's more you know market schools that I mean. To me I think you need. Another weapon on that offense to allow you to win some games like you have to -- 3031. Okay how many times you want to Fenway. So far. Five. Sides agree it's fun walk it's really. It's really cool like try to walk differently every time. This -- different parts. Now Italy's and then I'd never in my life Sadik Garten. I'm on boils street next. You know that the fins the curtains are called there that's unbelievable. There's people out there who were going to have vegetables whole year from that garden and it's right it's right over the right field wall in this. It's it's you know Boston really interest in place especially I've been coming -- long time but you know when you come here. You'd you'd stay in hotel -- do some things that you don't really. You know what you need to do this to -- to walk. That's been the greatest thing -- walking everywhere. Because nothing's -- far. It's it's been really -- so far for the record. You went into the interview with Brady with 37 cents in your pocket he'll let the interview thirty bodies that our party I don't deprive Iraq right. I certainly hope so I didn't check. I think it now I mean here's here's the thing dale. If I mean I I I have a feeling. That there at this point in his life. That that Tom Brady. -- is going to tell his side of stories. And then however people feel about them. Good luck and have a good life. He's not going to be too concerned with what -- right. Which is why anybody writes is just not a big thing on his raiders green and I think if it war. He'd be accurate and -- right now you know by a by a lot of things but. I think especially Peyton -- the same way hours the same point I mean if you're Brett Favre right now. How the world can't you even sort of surface I mean does it feel like you're getting mortar shots fired if you everywhere. I mean that's the great thing about him. When he's home. He's not watching ESPN he's watching the discovery. Opted theories. -- watching the golf. Because he's not a big sports fan. So he wouldn't sit home. Capture he's watched it sometimes but he wouldn't sit home and watch the daily coverage of themselves because I think you -- you'd probably not."
