" Let's talk a little Boston Bruins hockey right now and we will talk with one of the newest members of the team. Defenseman Steve month -- joins us on the AT&T hotline AT&T your world delivered Steve it's -- Michael how are. Good thanks guys are you guys don't yet. Personally I'm great welcome to Boston by the way a little belatedly but welcome. I appreciate that fact it's great to be here. Let's talk a little bit about last night's game the most recent one. I've been saying on the air that sixty minutes of effort has been something I think's been lacking and I'd like to see. Come out of this Bruins team and even with a win last night I don't think I saw sixty minutes of effort in my wrong."
" Not necessarily put we certainly a good stretch of the some good hockey put."
" I mean 41 lead in the you know make it interesting where readers."
" And finish up by victories. Is it -- your typical. Old game that you know that we want but."
" But it will certainly take to two point you know take positives out there and -- discuss you know some things."
" It's improving your problem opted -- but certainly get the two points and not necessarily be enactment satisfied with -- what. You know at this stage over the past she -- seventy -- there's been been in Iraq up and down I've been here as time went out you know remain competent but."
" But certainly yes --"
" What approach do you take and the situation like this you start to see you start the season with one team training camp with one team. And then you're moved over to. The Eastern Conference in the bruins'. How how do you get into their rhythm. Of an entirely new team in midstream."
" Yet that you ought to the question I mean. I think it helped that I knew a few players before it got here and spoke to a few even for -- But. You know. You're allergic costly learning to work every day. And the one I guess -- easy transition helped -- played and we played two to three different systems. -- checks in at a time different neutral also we were changing our our system you know even made gaming. And certainly from game to game at times and so. I think that maybe you're from you become your intestinal worm. Something different because we were doing that constantly throughout the season there. You know how you do -- having used an actual work or you -- the -- in it is usually -- you go to their work and that's kind of that's just that was reported what but they have -- coaching have a desire to change systems that this year help me two transitional witnesses here."
" I think both you and Mark Recchi were brought in here for obviously different reasons but but I think veteran leadership was something that the Bruins were looking for from both of you guys. But is that also a little bit of an uncomfortable position where you haven't been here that long. Where yet little hesitant perhaps to speak up in the locker room because you have really bad here all season."
" Yeah I know I mean I don't think it's my place in certain situations to be you know calling guys -- or anything like that but you know leadership just -- to."
" To be been vocal on the Dresser elements you know working in practice and on the ice and."
" You know doing things before and after practice. You know maybe in the weight room and just sort of maybe we -- mean I don't think I'm gonna do anything differently."
" But I was doing and timer and other teams what. You know there's many -- leadership isn't that -- you know won't look --"
" For some reason we talked a lot about fighting in hockey this week on the station this wondering now. How do you feel about it into what would you think if somebody. It is if some of the big wigs and some of the suits decided that they were going to take. Fighting out of the game altogether."
" While I can tell I don't really like and pleasant days. I mean you don't like you fighting have been known to you do little bit of fighting in and you know I don't know I mean I guess."
" I don't they don't necessarily committee game at least anytime soon. I don't think it'll command of the game in my lifetime and my -- in my career."
" What yeah I mean not you know I don't know I guess if I'm as the rules coming be changed and we move through them. You know we just to Justin. I don't really know however reactive they're completely taken -- but I think at some point. You know still going to be some -- it. And there's there's enough promotion and even aggression at times in this game and -- it's really hard to take it noted that there was penalties court venture. Allowed so."
" Claude Julien has has expressed a concern in his mind. Of the stick work that would that would go up a lot if you took fighting out of the game do you agree with that."
" yeah for sure I mean. I probably -- that Mora. You know with the remote try to take penalties. And and that is more from a defensive position but."
" Yeah I I I mean you can that there would obviously be some some changes."
" Just naturally that would occurred -- record would that would be well."
" You're all playing in the National Hockey League obviously but. Coming from the Western Conference you notice any. Tangible differences between the east and the west."
" the the biggest thing you can travel. Or lack of -- in the east here and I've noticed so far you know you -- a couple of they would trip but each flight was. Sort of an hour hour. Which -- pretty standard. You know offer from the Bruins clubs and that your many teams are here in east. So that's the biggest thing but you know."
" There's lot of good teams -- bowls. It in both conferences. You know to fast paced game old west a lot of systems."
" Here I think it's -- little bit more control than these."
" But with mr. jeans a ball and -- each sort of adapter. But for the first things first -- Norris Trout right."
" You mentioned that you knew a couple of guys on this team one of the guys you know very well as Andrew Ference UN and -- Made a trip to Tanzania along with my body rob Simpson. As part of the right to plate project you were right to play athlete ambassador tell me about your trip to Africa and in what you guys were trying to accomplish that."
" Although it was amazing. Injury and I a couple of years ago along with some people -- and rob Simpson."
" That we miniature Tanzania two of the that a number of schools and orphanages. The right to play. Works with. Is in the countryside."
" And what we're trying to accomplish was."
" You know a lot of it was for Edgar and -- see what goes on you know. Right later acts of the kids tell -- pictures -- You know the value of work to -- and there's fantastic work."
" and and in a lot of ways there was."
" You know themselves strip Billiton take long and that it worked at hearts to to sell myself or injury -- on the benefits and beauty of great place."
" And that what we can do you know I can't. Spent the year my life over their. You know we're -- the -- helpers are working every day a year by year you know not only is Wright played but other Ngo. Organization."
" Around the world. -- both what I -- was hockey players -- you know I can use that the attention that we get."
" You know with the media. And helped raise awareness and respond -- excel."
" You know in the summertime back control that members speaking -- In trouble around with right to play you know to help promote awareness."
" And and those types of things that."
" But I can view and -- really well because. You know especially in sports."
" I you know I understand the value of of what sports is."
" I've done for me in my life obviously. It and that's why right to play loves having whether it's amateur professional athletes because we can relate. You know I don't have to speak Swahili to let kids know it owns soccer field over it -- yet but I'm open. And I think. That's where."
" Sports is translucent around the world is that."
" You know you can understand those passions of innocent ruled the game you know its Internet -- same language and that's that's the beauty of sport and in --"
" It'll work hard as he worked."
" Discipline and there's just a number of positive factors that amount of you know playing individual in team sports. And that's all I can relate and that's and that's why don't reflect -- that work."
" I look at some of the pictures now they're pretty amazing how I'm wondering. Is that something that fell onto your lap Steve word isn't something you thought about as a as a young athlete. And and had a desire to make a difference in the world."
" Well I I think -- has. I think awareness. To help Oden as number of different charities that. Most of all players. Participate industrial summer and -- season but this this subsidy literally fell in my lap and text near emailed me. On Friday night. A couple of years ago and a amenable to -- African actually right played you want to go. Actually in the neck stand out like what are you talking about what's right to play in and you know -- serious. And -- explain to me when it happened and there was another player that most -- that was injured and there's another spot available you can take you can go anyway. You know what I like to go with the yeah aperture Seoul. The next Friday. I was on a plane with mark -- right to play. Normally the hockey news and -- little London metal band there and we continued on Tanzania and so you know I was given. I was given the view right play from the ground up completely. The grassroots level. You know not really not mean I would -- read up a little bit throughout the week beaten up to the trip I really don't know anything about it. And I go to great we've -- just you know -- really want to see some work and you know we'll check it out in lives in you know in the -- source -- You know really it's if it really burned and in my heart. How well they really work with the local coaches and people in the teachers. And get the message and advised not to secure itself I mean it's a pretty much just handed you know handed Wright -- and -- the opportunity."
" Steve you've played on a Calder cup championship team in the American Hockey League you've played on a Stanley Cup finalist team in Calgary that loss to Tampa Bay. You -- mark both come here with a certain knowledge base of what it takes to get to that ultimate goal. Do you think this team as young as it is in some places understands what's in front of -- here."
" Not your -- that it and that's not necessarily a bad thing you know whether -- if we don't."
" What I think's important is. You were -- win every game. I think it's. Steve is prologue all year and although we might have you know in the speed bump recently I think there's still a couple of locker room that we can win any game that we play and and that's what I think is. Important that's what I remember from the team -- I on previously. And you know the number of players that were almost teams with myself in the past --"
" You know I don't think there's he wanted to question back about how hungry everybody is here."
" You know translating that on the -- it is the next challenge and that's what's you know coming together brought together what. A late season and playoffs -- as well so. You know it is not greeted here for."
" You don't realize that the opportunity that we. Acknowledges it's time more would take time. You know --"
" Was it kind of nice to just -- guys smiling in the locker room again last night."
" Absolutely I mean it you know it's like it -- Garrity mentioning it it is pretty -- room already like. Yeah I can't win out Yeltsin makes sense to their practice so little easier you know you can you wake up either juvenile sort of feel better and and so there's there's -- you know we know we have a cup games -- you know we need to. Bring our past that moral Sunday. Four points."
" Steve we really appreciate you taking a few minutes to join us again welcome to Boston and and the rest of the season."
" I appreciate that I think -- thanks to take might. --"
" That is -- Boston Bruins defenseman Steve month to -- joining us on the AT&T hotline. AT&T your world delivered."
