" You guys know that for August's. We've been -- and they show this year Tedy Bruschi is a regular member of our patriots Monday. Organization what you may not know is an event that's coming up Saturday April 19 530 the seaport hotel in Boston. Some guy named holly Williams seen the event and I'm sure that alone get people. Wanted to go to a but I hit it is it's headed Teddy and Heidi Bruschi night of inspiration. Mr. -- nice to see again this into its been awhile hasn't it took you awhile to get over the hump it idiotic there it is how on after February 4. Did you feel like okay I'm okay now I'll I'll I'll I'll keep going here."

" Let's say just recently I mean it's -- I can't say it's that the first time I've lost the Super Bowl from back in 96 we lost the Green Bay in the those are. Those are ones that you do you remember in -- you know you think of the Green Bay Packers ME author of the New York Giants and you think of a Super Bowl games so those are ones that stick with via it was it was tough to take I mean. To be right there in the end inhabit. You know have that the giants were down on the field for the -- in the two minute drive and score was something that you know of course -- want to happen I don't there are some plays in -- everyone's still talking about when they see me about. In the catch Tyree meter or certain other plays that happened during that drive under in the game but. Howdy -- move on from that you just have to and football is is a yearly process and you always have these steps -- you -- steps right now of of signing guys of course it's signing Randy back you know getting prepared for the draft adding free agent acquisitions that we think can open that's the process you go through that helps you. Forget and turn the page on on -- previous season when you've won the Super Bowl and or lost the Super Bowl beacons. Sometimes it's it's it's more difficult to forget the Super Bowl when you've won. You know when -- you're always -- pitchers. You -- the best team in the world you have to do much to improve yourself but you really have to do that adamant with the outcome once. Parties at their place that people talked about earlier -- We hear on Q and after that game it was are people's view graph that team -- eight you know lost to a team in the superbowl beaten the last game regular season. Like preparation was -- during the Super Bowl for you guys that -- lightly -- Absolutely not I think the first thing we know as as veterans and we we are predominately -- Richmond team -- you acknowledged the threat of your opponent I think that's what you have to do first and foremost and especially when the Super Bowl. They had echo through the -- that you had to go to to get there. Because once the regular season's over that really doesn't matter you have to win these tough part for a playoff -- offers the best teams in the NFL. On -- playoff states to get to the superbowl giants did that two dollars at that they wear a good team they -- the right. They're too that the two best teams in the NFL the patriots image is going at it and one of them was going to be works. What's the one statistics. The one play. It had to be there. Eli Manning escaped from when you think you get him down and then he sort of lob the ball up in the year there's no way he -- that because I see thirty sevens him enough that it is. Bingo club up there right between is -- between -- pocket hands to catch the ball and then you -- off helmets and then the cover of Sports Illustrated pictures and he said so on and so I think that was. The defining play for me of that game with a play that Ira members of them making a play and -- in us not being able to finish. -- of plays before plenty of championship seasons before we have made those plays we have finished those plays we have finished the games. On that night it was announced that did that and -- passed off to that team and and that's why -- what's the epilogue to the book. What was that what was your night like. Super Bowl game in you do. We get on the blessed with your teammates on the bus -- back to the hotel and you know myself. -- group on the team comprises only areas waitresses you know guys like that Randy -- Richard. A lot of guys that. We talked to sort of sit on the -- contemplate what happened you reflect on those -- before the Super Bowls and you want to talk about it being so active talk about the game did you reflect. You know toward the future in touch your friends mr. clutch pitcher -- comin' back where where humans -- in terms of the team analysts. It's immediate right there after the game but he's talk about that things which which -- Thomas because you know when you see everyone's sort of spread throughout the country and those conversations on all star party lines. When -- yes he knew that you. Part of what I mean what -- like that the last thing in my short it is but I think. The one thing I've learned after all the wins and losses of the wanting you sort of have to be you still have to be racist and I had a lot of people there at the game I mean median from from what if the numbers -- friends in the game that went to the post game party. To commute to say you know I'm going -- forget it Garcia take care it's it in the first time I've seen these people mean. Maybe almost a year because it's so -- down and a of course he's scared -- to life one. There -- process that for and one in the game of course -- be gracious -- still -- years since the everybody. And it was it was somewhat ironic for me because. Right when I'm having that interaction with my family which comes you know and that and you know -- of me is like. After we won Super Bowl in Jacksonville finals so there and complain any burden that's right stages of that -- and I but you don't before so it was it was a contrast that moves from and in terms about this proposed accident in this one but -- still that your that your family friends that they know how how great February from for the support they gave the year."

" I just gotta ask here one final question about the game itself at at the end. What happened that the yen because it looked like -- dean -- was trying to find guys to get out there to play the last play."

" Just the way that I have been. I've been taught so there's 12 left and so. I've been -- before like in Foxboro stadium we had a game when dolphins went in and they had to come back out there towel -- everything like that so but the shower -- 12 that's like so those ones are so. I'm going to finish this season so -- the giants start line and Upton on the only went on the other side of the ball as I see on my other teammates try to scramble back because only have to dues. Is -- on the ball in the game's over of course with the it was a little bit chaotic trying to get guys back on there -- I don't know we have eleven but you know when they knew it -- congratulations to the giants to. What was your process after the game is over after you leave Arizona you're thinking about your career going for what was that process along that it. From it didn't take them it didn't take them long because actually it's a question I -- sometimes people hurt people last week. I mean because I mean and religions become Herman after the season -- kids at school locally you know a via the area and and one question again it is if you would've won the game which who have retired. You know and I tell them say I would of loved entertainment that -- love to have taken that but that. I don't really like to go on what ifs and could those incentives but the real with the reality as what we what was with that we've lost a dare dare to pass has -- and a -- that I think that fires stilts over him as much as it always was in the that's -- I was rated say there's there's no way it is -- Emery to please the more victims so playing football again and again."

" Ideas in the back your mind whether your fellow veteran linebacker Junior Seau feels the same way. How would think he does -- I would think he does I Ivan said the Super Bowl week that I mean no matter how."

" Junior is the fire that's inside of him never be put out. Never I mean with any type of nineteenth twentieth you whatever in the league and I mean he could come back and and when whatever Super Bowls but his his fire will always be there because that's the type of person he is and it's that type of person that I I've I've grown to -- really appreciated and no I'd like I'd love to have -- back and of -- backe was a spectacular teammates. And to have him as motivation for us some of us to win that superbowl for guys like him and guys like Randy because of course some of us in the -- experienced success before. -- to have guys that you know their careers -- that you mean you you view the NFL and you see the careers of all these other players I mean. The work that they've done -- become winners you want to help them."

" The linebackers who are in that that regular rotation for you guys starting linebackers are guys who alternate series they -- have something -- They're all of that thirty some jobs sure you've heard this before. Now pat -- they're getting old at linebacker -- for you -- talking about talking about you forget about Vrabel forget about deal with Thomas. Do you know what what is the difference preparing now as opposed to preparing when you were 2627 years in your body responding to that part right Africa. Okay subtracting."

" Years and I there there's a lot less maintenance that I have to do about it -- during the weeks ago. And I think one of the biggest the biggest differences is after you get through with the game on Sunday. And I remember being in the end a younger player and in and here and people talk about okay it's it's it's a short week Sunday and Monday night game to a Sunday or sometimes. A Sunday game -- sometimes Thanksgiving Day game on Thursday or something like that at the short week you address the media I was on the radio. I'm ready to go in and get out later -- like -- right about that you know because I mean go through a tough game on Sunday. Monday Tuesday you really have to worry about worry about the rehabilitation process to get your body back ready to do it again and that I've had great examples in my group of players doing that Willie McGinest you know Roman -- you know Junior Seau. Has been it would plea. Play at a high level for so long and and really you know depend on those guys and and and the example pitched that they showed me to. To really have career longevity."

" You guys in and -- we actually joke with you sometimes about you know you were so focused on this week this week this week. We can't ever talked about anything that was -- and that's two weeks down the road yeah. At but is that something that is developed within this team chemistry that you have that before you arrived here or did you have a before bill ballot check arrived here."

" You know I may have had a little little little -- I mean because it's it's -- is an all that is that so and that's always -- by football coaches are ammunitions worry about next week but it. You know is it is it really. Is there really emphasis point really with with some coaches okay let's let's focus on next week -- went man these plea agreement last week was great you know something like that you get from certain coaches but. Now with coach Belichick with coach Belichick. I mean what he says is is is what he expects from his veterans from his younger players and really preaches that I mean from. From the for -- after after a game on Sunday we have the team meeting and the positive as well last about. The last about you know minute or two in in the negative last sometimes twenty to thirty minutes and how we can get better for the next week and really that's what it always ends."

" As a great photo in your book never give up of the backers. After AFC championship game back CNN back for good and then there's have a -- you have at your house the backer -- yeah all the guys. You lost a member of the -- from the team Rosevelt Colvin how did you find out and and what are your feelings on well you know."

" There was that very ironic very ironic because. I was coming into the facility I think I don't know when it happened a few weeks ago and Rosie got released and Rosie was walking out and I said you know the usual green because it was good to see what you boys again discussing how to Rosie and you know saw something was on his face he looked a little bit different than us as heroes has abilities -- just been -- you know so. It's funny because I was one of the first guys he met coming into the facility and then he said if this is ironic because you parred the last would -- would he leave in the facilities so. You get a little bit of reality reality check sometimes that happens and Rosie of course was. With -- not only bias in in in in the locker room and on the team by plays he made in the community he really really adopted the knowingly community so I was thousand tough to taken a -- my sister who were if you go to the back with and that -- he Toby Hewitt though."

" And he asked how much it would cost right yeah this -- took charge enough for -- in calmed down as low phrase -- six that's in my hot you ride it and that is a -- as you know. We get a word in today's -- papers that may be losing another. Longtime teammate that it may beat Detroit brown will not be back. With your group and he and on about what it's going to be like to not look over and see him over there and -- and that's all."

" Yeah yeah you know you have you you've. Who's -- eighty ever since I've been here you know it's been Detroit and so that that's going to be tough to deal with but. Passive but in I don't want to think of it as sort of you never know it happens to I still never know what can happen football is a sport where. More than any others injuries come into play. You know and a how will that affect us going on the next season you know doing still hold out hope that ruby back you know maybe there's sort of a glimmer of hope in the back of my mind that. Read a report in the paper. You know it's what really -- take that hard but if he wasn't back you know I -- them -- Parties give -- you know it's going."

" I do want to talked about certain -- inspiration but before I get to that 1 lead up to it by asking you. What was February 15 like for you because it's not valid Valentine's Day is not a big day in the Bruschi -- whole idea of February 15 this why. Well that 1009000 that I had my stroke and it was it it's spurred on probably the toughest challenge my wife and I never ever been through and alive so. Valentine's Day is is the day before and so we don't really focus on that we focus on the fifteenth on the anniversary of of my stroke and how how far we've come. How far we've come from from that point now lives have been three years and you know it and to know how far we've come into that -- that we went through that doubts I mean. I mean in my going to be normal again what's wrong with me you know I mean all these questions medically that I had to to go to. Let's -- playing again you know those type of thoughts that there's something that I that I had to go through through my comeback and that's why that's why am throw on this night in the that you want to talk about comebacks I mean I know about many years ago when when the story of the Central Park jogger in encapsulated this country people wondered -- why a woman jogging in Central Park to be a victim of such and such a random attack and everyone remembers her as the Central Park -- We'll -- is is my inspirational speaker and I think that night a lot of people come away with that. Being inspired him and the Boston marathon is is is one of the signature events of this of this of this community and -- celebrate it and the real winners of the Boston marathon the ones who who run it for a cause and for what they believe in five years ago you probably couldn't imagine doing something like this having something called Ted -- team and having an -- inspiration with this focus. Yeah 5 years ago of course you get the various invitation to a two events to support a certain shared united I've -- things things before with other organizations and and really I was having questions in my mind of you know I I wish I heck I wish I had more about emotional or order personal attachment to something. Well something happened that of course I do now with the American stroke association."

" As -- dallas' as you've been in in supporting the American stroke association and helping them and your book I think when a great deal towards that. My guesses when you're doing what you do for a living it never enters your mind. About what I went through -- I think about it today when your plan when your practicing as it ever come up in your head."

" Not anymore. That anymore I think that the first year back was was it was as much emotional and mental healing -- just coming back to play football because. You hit somebody again all of a sudden and -- had a stroke and you realize what's gone on with and you learn about the brain and you learn about your heart Mueller to learn about the procedure that I had with my heart -- and then here I am with a helmet on again -- on somebody. Okay sort of the first hit -- sort of stand up and say okay I'm still here. I'm still here you know and I had to go I had to go through a lot of football first again the first tackle first. The first hit the first time couple 300 pounder is right on top of me an ambulance for them to get off."

" I yeah."

" If you know you know I'll give you that I cannot be. Human teacher she really she really this this moment had a profound effect. She did I heard her speak in the it is. She is she's sees you as the runners she's very small in stature but what you went through in the way she was able to come back really helped me realize few questions that. That maybe what do I wasn't able to come back you know I mean. Sometimes people are able to make full recoveries and a Tricia -- is doing well now but which -- full recovery I mean. Yes maybe no -- so I was one of the lucky ones make it a full recovery movement sometimes there's a lot of things people go through the deal with about. How different you are after you've experienced that Versteeg lives -- stroke cancer livid that losing a loved one something like that means that you should help you realize that even if you're not the same that he's still going to be okay you mentioned -- before she doesn't remember everything about that night. Those -- get which probably from from accounts it news accounts and from people who -- telling her what she was going remembered yet she she I she read and she wrote her book now. Maybe her not being able to call what happened that night in Central Park was with maybe God's -- her you know because having to deal with something like that and remember some things went through could be could be highly traumatic so and -- who she writes about her book which is which is so wonderful. It's march 13. Marty started to get ready for the 2000 football. -- what you don't you don't want to be an active too long you know being active to and so you you know he's he's. The heavy work council will come in a few weeks when we when we start to reconvene in the in the in Gillette Stadium and the guys who who show for the offseason workouts but. He's still wanna when -- out their break a sweat starts to work out start work you work out routine -- to go in right away and to start blowing it out right away mean. Over thirteen year career you realize how to prepare yourself in the games -- until September. So -- you realize you still have a long way to go. People want it to injure it out of they do it replaced Dayton oh tickets they purchased. It was it was this -- all you can -- contact the American stroke Association's -- Blackburn you can also -- call here I mean to BI's doing some great things -- there's some there's some auction items -- another listeners out there if there ever if their if their insisted incoming district just give a -- here in the I think that's easiest though that you're beyond the information Mangini."

" We're very happy do. To see that you're going to be back there and and we make our Monday visits I hope we get a chance to visit with the in every Monday -- I mean maybe they can that real -- like that --"

" Yeah -- can't afford one yard run. I've read that it's going to ask my doctor about that they I think big games games in spring yeah he got about."

" He's okay you know that was one time there in the year last year when he and you know he wouldn't. Too keen on giving -- announced in the -- beat the hate our are okay you said is -- simple misunderstanding would resolve that out there he's he's stuck -- back there and -- you know we've we've come to an honest with like Mike pac ten -- we can't get over that move forward affable guy now -- sooners prepared to hit a home. It's great the again great guys that we -- here they like thanks apartment my Tedy Bruschi joining us here on Sports Radio WE"
