Martha is an eight year survivor of lung cancer and sits down with Mut and Merloni at Fenway Park. She talks about her love for painting and how art has been therapeutic for her. Martha and her husband Julian were treated at Dana-Farber at the same time and came in for "His and Her" treatments every Friday. He was diagnosed 7 years before her but the cancer came back and he sadly passed away in August of 2004. Dr. Johnson talks about new advances in lung cancer treatments and their importance.
Judy Rowley, 71, from Portland, ME, was diagnosed with lung cancer. She is joined with Dr. Bruce Johnson , director of the Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology. Judy had a dry cough that her daughter encouraged her to see a doctor. Last summer tests revealed early stage lung cancer. Her Maine doctor referred her to Brigham and Women’s for surgery and they referred her to Dr. Johnson for chemo. Last fall she had four rounds of chemo and is not in treatment right now. She has non-small cell edema carcinoma – in the lining of the lungs.

Diane Legg, 48, from Amesbury, took a trip to the hospital almost six years for a back injury which led to an early diagnosis of lung cancer. She had part of her lung removed to avoid spread of the cancer in her left lobe and endured four rounds of chemo. After getting a clean bill of health, the cancer came back a year later. The mother of three boys has become an advocate for the disease that she says has a stigma attached to it. She is out of treatment but admits that every time she goes for a scan she and her husband keep their fingers crossed and pray. She feels lucky to have caught the cancer early – which is extremely rare with lung cancer. She is the co-chair of the lung cancer alliance in Massachusetts and her husband just rode the Pan Mass Challenge for Dana-Farber. Her doctor is Bruce Johnson , the head of the thoracic oncology.
Bruce, who is 76 years old, was diagnosed 4 years ago with metastatic lung cancer but is doing well. Bruce absolutely raves about the treatment at Dana-Farber. Dr. Lathan, a lung cancer expert, talks about the treatments that are available today.
Annmarie Campanella and Dr. Johnson sit down with D&H. Annmarie was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2000 and has been in treatment for 2 and half years. Both doctor and patient talk about how the treatment is going extremely well and Annmaire says staff at Dana-Farber is fantastic!
Ellen Samia joins the show with her nurse Pamela Calareese. Ellen is 39 year old and was diagnosed six years ago with a form of lung cancer. She has two children and has underwent chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.
Rob Saltzman, who lost his wife to lung cancer, joins The Big Show with his late wife's nurse, Pamela Calarese.
