BOSTON(AP) Daisuke Matsuzaka helped the Boston Red Sox win the World Series in his first year and he won 18 games in his second.

Ty Warren (groin) and Pierre Woods (jaw) were among the four Patriots to miss practice again on Thursday while Richard Seymour (knee) returned to full strength as the team prepares for the Seattle Seahawks at Qwest Field on Sunday. The Patriots are particularly thin at outside linebacker, as Vince Redd also missed practice again with a bad ankle. Thursday's full participation report of both teams is below.

The Red Sox have landed another Japanese pitcher, completing their contract with right-hander Junichi Tazawa. The 22-year-old Tazawa spurned professional teams in Japan to pursue a major league career in the United States. Tazawa is expected to begin next season in the minors for the Red Sox, who already have Japanese pitchers Daisuke Matsuzaka and Hideki Okajima. After winning the 2007 World Series, Boston advanced to Game 7 of the AL championship series this year before losing to Tampa Bay.Other teams thought to be interested in Tazawa included the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners and Atlanta Braves. -- The Associated Press (Dec. 4, 3:19pm)
