NFL Sunday: The Patriots Defense vs the Ravens Offense

Dec 22, 2013|

Joe Flacco has been playing well as of late and usually plays very well against the Pats. The Ravens like to throw it deep down field - esp to Jacoby Jones - so the Pats CB's will have to be on their toes all day. Ray Rice hasn't been the same guy running the ball this year but he can still catch it out of the back field which the Patriots have struggled with. It will be interesting to see how the Pats utilize Talib today.

How much just as important as you know. These things knowing that that do more remorse people from. Mortgage firms. -- Chandler Jones -- the patriots defensive squad talking about what he asked to work on to get better. This is department program where we look at the Patriots defense specifically against the Baltimore Ravens offense as we bring Chris -- back in from at and T bank stadium I noticed as I'm sure you guys notice that Flacco was on the injury report most of the week now much doubt the beat them play today but. Kind of shape we think he's sent. I think it would have been up but you know Geiger talked about a opened down here and in the papers -- but of course we know that our perspective I'm here -- here. Toward the end of the game by decidedly right. Yeah it would it would quicker it was a weird awkward angle the first thing I thought it was when I'm Rebecca training camp when Brady was hit by equity -- -- I don't know what went to the awkward -- we all over break there per second. I'll bring -- it is miners in the he's OK again. Guys that when you miracle banged up but it's gonna need to see how you respond mechanically. With would it be -- -- that deep. I'm curious Chris I don't know if you know much about this guy he kind of jumped off the page to me -- I started watching film room and scroll back through -- of you know the stats stuff online -- -- awhile -- seven a decent year. Trying to figure out OK if there -- try to replicate last year's performance her. All the luck they had with Anquan Boldin that kind of thing this guy moral and brown number fourteen a wide receiver and after guided Georgia. -- 64 to a five pitches when he touchdown pass for the minutes and leave Minnesota in the snow there were certain that back a pylon thing looked actually at what life. One of those Anquan Boldin back point catches. I'm just curious how old this sort of bigger body match up because they're good at Torrey Smith which is. In more vertical -- has got some size and Jacoby Jones global size. It's kind of a weird week where I think maybe they can come back with something comparable to last year's -- especially with -- -- it and now back to sort of close to who used to be. Yes I've been around the world really intriguing guy. Kind of -- in the world that we talked about how he -- replace some of the leadership and a alt a locker promising premise a guy just from a numbers perspective really stepped up at receiving all forty characters. 400 Portland arts expert -- Working in a level of all the neutral arms if that makes any sense it's one of those cars they're -- -- -- tension between the interest think -- talked about how there -- since touching a little bit. And it has its combat. In east -- they actually call the last month or so two more rigorous C percent. Now I don't know if that had something to do with the fact that it kind of you slipped in the running game and they're not a consistent that they ought to be a conflict that -- to do with brown related emergence of such an outlook. You know everyone knows about the other two and -- no no matter who wrote but go to a record to interpret you kind of oh really emerging as a more consistent -- in the passing team in notorious the -- you know it was kind of the year charisma that -- I think it's going to be you know. Is it that one -- the -- could be an article you don't as a retreat on these repertory at the Tokyo. That an accurate protect you that well written because he it would really. I do I think would really cut into Google Talk about it it's going to work to certain. It is the purple ramping up you know where you want to be physically so you know of the sort of overall statistical -- this week that what we've seen. You're in previous -- at preventing that they're they're offered to curveball. Over the course -- -- not a traditional -- golf -- that we want to -- I think there's a reason for that on a lot of fronts and if you look at the interior part their line you know they've. They don't have the guys they used to have you know your. Hall finalize help on the map Burke you know an all pro guy's been there forever at the senators -- the draft through your -- -- smaller guy quite frankly. At the left -- bought the original 61309. There not huge it's senator the other gore yeah and is it was never big guy. They're not the old you'll bar room brawl or 330 pound guards and big big 66 senator. Type team that they used to be and I think that kind of affects the approaches as much as anything. And I think the reason you're able to go three receivers as you point Marlon Brown sort of a emergence to me reminds objectionable bit of -- short Matthews last week with the two big catches against the patriot two of the guys were talked about lot of wrote about him. That we -- as well but just those couple big plays the couple reporter plays in their problem. The European conversions I think. Help them sort of feel more comfortable like picking going to those kind of sets do you got a guy you want expecting to get divorced from. Not to go back too much but you'd interest in -- last week to leave spent most acute timer up a a lot of common were -- -- I wonder how they're going to deploy those few current facts that are no different than on the crew working. With the medical stuff but look at you can -- -- -- citizen and -- -- -- will be talked about a little -- banged -- that we -- that it became the first rodeo so. He's not a 100% in you know we know Gregory coming off but the the finger problem and so you guys he'd -- decent impacts. And order talk about it on the road but being need despite being need to get that number Q -- pro lottery level it would be to get help your second. -- this week is going to be a really good how true that repealing all the equipment and it's gonna be really good so because we talked about it and you know where each. Yet -- critically Utica. Where where -- -- Jacoby Jones. A -- not a greater -- the -- -- -- rector -- that threat of the fact that a lot of options it's gonna Wear out. Immense amount Bristol sort of challenge we still trying to. My Fedorov all that I agree with everything you said and yet -- could score some -- ignore the big question mark. Here fathom go extra fourteen can be all were -- what they scored their -- quirks aren't coastal and let all we. I I don't know why aren't yet they're unanimous and teaches you to site and Vietnamese night I get your you're your offense -- -- your your getting your quick. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- You're if you're looking at a team that BP in the goes out so I mean -- what are your top short it's your younger -- getting real performed over an article or or back. You're getting -- place. In -- getting. That the purpose stopped when you need to get. The winning look you know beat a really. Great and so it's it's what he pollution -- in over the course -- because there were reports properly. How much of that has to do with the yep sub par and physically challenged -- in the Ray Rice is that so far. Separate requests I think that there's something there I think when you think the -- and it really by extension you norte and general. You think a physical team but look look look all looked a -- -- and they're really you know that regard to a cloud of dust thirteen but. Rewrite the value we -- -- -- where what specifically regret is clearly not -- offensive threats that used to be. Indy car trouble consistently running the ball on the ground which really surprised -- wonder how much all the gonna try to do this week that although the hatred. Have struggled to stop the run again you know some -- -- you can actually think our. New York dart so I think particularly Baltimore get up on the secret to be -- leader. -- seven -- ten point -- record outlet good accountant you what -- decided you're gonna try and we'll look vault. Are you given the trouble that they are you re trying to be consistent -- Well it'd be agency to boo what they do with the tide in position for me because I think that dictates a lot of with a number of Tennessee running game first because Dell's Clark has been down he's there have been over big. You run blocking kind of guy anyhow what he's a guy that'll have. Double week with a target him six times most weeks at Warwick and -- -- ranger was down last week it almost this week he's back practicing their with. Flacco but that'd Dixon's kind of via the Gaza sort of closet productive guy -- definitely can overlook what they have three equal you know somewhat productive tight ends. -- they wanted to go ahead -- one of the bank a little bit they would help a little more on the outside because Patrick I don't think a part of reason it's you know yes I know Ray Rice has had some injury issues throughout the year. And I know he doesn't look like he used to book Mike or is not a great run blocker at right tackle spot -- not big on the interior and those guys don't regret like I think they have in the past so. Part of its style part of its personnel part of -- maybe some injuries so I think they've looked other places they just gave Joseph Flacco a billion dollars in the DePaul and his hand and said. To win Joseph -- the -- -- -- -- I I think you know that's that's part of much of the stories and. I wonder if in the bigger picture question but I wonder -- you know that the last few years running the ball 250 to 300 times it's kind of typical cut off. Career doesn't it always though it's almost like they hit a wall. Yeah I do well at least -- got Walt would quit running backs in their late twenty early thirty recording -- -- the best example least locally and seeing you know just kind of hit a wall he thirties or drop off your rarest. Twenty sector is very oil. Debris for you and yet he's a 197 -- tortured a couple of children when your 407. And 2010 pars and just you illusion of -- so the more out a really -- you helped order it's just heard there's a physical in there and he's gonna you gonna -- more than down here. I think the important to note that with him is OK guys up the same bought I think he's still there army wanna watch film it's not you know not -- not knowing Norris fancy steps towards coral accumulations are still pretty dangers are still looks -- A guy that can make plays in space and when you look at his body -- and make that sort of leads in two wide. That might be the fall from 58 -- -- the smaller guys really one of the productive -- looks like a third down back it's played 003 down back the last several years right. So as a past history still write their fifty catches sixty you know you fifty catches you know he's a guy who's gonna give touches. Not the big plays -- maybe that explosive as the storm he's not a guy but I think they'll look away from a specially after a last week where it. -- made Miami made some plays against the patriots out of the backfield so. The Thigpen and applicable -- employs or one for the touchdown -- a couple of they put. The point is big might look at that as a vulnerability and I don't think that the rays tank is completely empty where they would go away from completely. Almost wish it would empty just for the week. Chris election don't now but join us at top the hour okay. Well will bring Chris back in the top of the hour when we come back we'll talk about it it might be. I mean every single week when we've looked at special teams we've said Jack Marcos the patriots -- -- Jack Marcus patriots. One of those weeks where not quite as automatic is used to be I won't -- empties but I -- you. You're gonna do that just couple minutes here on NFL Sunday presented by the Penske insurance it combines ski they shops or use a visit to plants he dot com today.
