This year on our set and Orlando at the baseball winter meetings models Heidi guys would be a favorite to occur to him but -- ideal. I'm -- -- has gone pretty good look quiet around these parts. -- you know -- -- talk to about five executives yesterday and Aniston have they ever seen a week before the winter meetings quite like the one that we used in all five of them to ship that had never seen anything like. So we should expect. It to be a little quiet to get started -- and so much happened last week. But you guys have covered enough for the east and know that once one building block goes down in a bunch more than their words when you sign. That's been probably triggered Nelson Cruz. And probably others when first starting pitcher goes we've had some -- maybe that starts and announced it. I've covered these things for 33 years and I swear fellas I've spent five days in the hotels and went home with nothing but -- and I. I just hope that's not case here because this is a hard week of work we have to have something to talk about something concrete to -- so. As far as the Red Sox go. -- opposite people to people really believe. Debenture is critical weeks of the year with Bradley Bogart's in middle -- three young guys a third of their lineup. I don't think Jackie Bradley junior it's going to be there center fielder. And that's not because he's not ready or he can't play I just think for years exact reasons to go in with three. Relatively unproven guys that we know Bogart's can be a player 'cause we sought mid September and October he was terrific. Middle Brooks is still questionable to me -- the guys on the reasonably strong but is he gonna make contact enough to hit thirty homers in the believe to be able to play third base. And it's Jackie Bradley junior ready to hit in the -- I think the Red Sox are gonna look at this situation today. I don't know if we can win the division the way the Yankees have upgraded in Tampa based pitching with. Young guys -- three crucial spot so I still think. They're out looking for a center field situation not a five -- situation but maybe something that could help Jackie Bradley. We we know that they wanna keep victory -- him in right field John -- said that enough last week so when he said -- looking -- that center fielder. Is at the free agent market or to -- trade discussion with a talking to teams about available players for that position. I think it's both and I think they might just get a right handed hitting outfielder to go with Jackie Bradley here but. And I'm not suggesting for a second they're gonna get Mac camp here but -- the Dodgers from one I'm told them look at the movement can. This is in the case where the Red Sox are pursuing them but from what I'm told the -- that the doctors have made him available and are willing to pick up. -- sizable portion of that contract. If you hear the Red Sox killer you have to pay only have to pay. And million dollars of that contract year. And you have to be certain that he's healthy is -- in the shoulder and shoulder. Lou you know you can't play this game if your -- it's too hard to play when you're healthy. Then you get hurt and try to play that's possible senate and especially in a defensive position like that and athletic guy like him so I would be wary. Mac can't help and I wouldn't go anywhere near him until I'm certain that his ankle and shoulder are okay. You realize that some things about you know Robinson can no you know office -- as a player his level about to make 200 million plus. The last thing I would do is fire Scott Morse beat people higher stock boards that are going in those situations. However the median -- maybe look like a fool because they get -- 240 million dollars. What does the word around. Is that people expect GC now to be serious player. In as far as free agent tells. I don't think so I think people look at this as a one time and guy one player. To show you how things changed and he called me. Called me to tell me. -- yeah we've screwed up this whole thing. There is no way. Out. And instead of using. Instead it's in his talk to him last night he thinks geez these -- -- doesn't do it again inside 240 right now. That it keeps up right pictured it and I didn't use it and those. Like this didn't go out because listed with the some of us most of us and I and it was totally understandable this is a really hard job I would trust got forced to know this market completely you can't bring in an outsider -- I think happened was. -- was upset with the Yankees were going in getting Jacoby Ellsbury and then making it out to be a greedy. Roberts -- know who only is in this for the money and he told -- -- get the most money can indeed he went and did it so good for all of them for doing this whether he's in the right place for him long term. We'll see about that but I think this was a -- -- usual circumstance this -- out there. With a little chip on his shoulder a little bit Amy -- let's let's go get the most money. ESPN's Jim Kirk is joining us if Boris was still represented full Pillsbury and canal. Do you think it would have been different do you think it all ends up in new York and NL's very ends up with some of that money Seattle yeah I think so I think. I think the fact that Ellsbury went to Boston first. I mean what's New York first thing change this that connote dynamic and I think it forced Adam both he would said. I'm not gonna get them both the same place so let's get to know where he wants to be probably first and foremost is in New York gave him the most money possible and then find another place for Ellsbury. Fact there are represented by two people I think changed the -- him also and that's why we are. He'll -- might have some small things to do here in this offseason who knows maybe there is -- when the biggest thing to have probably from now until opening day will be Jon Lester. When you -- the way he was in the post season given what he was last year at parks this year still a young guy when you left in his deal. What are we talking a boat with Jon Lester as rescission. We're talking about before you -- don't know like five and a hundred. And I said that might be team friendly between right you know before hand is because of free agent market he might be the best out there we know what happens when that. It happens right and you throw let's say a thirty year old lefthander out there with a great track record he's gonna get five for a hundred plus we've got Clayton Kershaw now we get David Price who might sign. Both of those guys before Jon Lester setting them markets he can't be real careful. And the way Lester pitched in the post season and I saw him on Tuesday night in Boston in September didn't -- told me after the game that the best I've ever seen him pitch -- So he's actually getting better it's great news for the Red Sox of course. Shouldn't pay for it and if he keeps getting better from here and again when. When veteran left -- quality starting pitchers get out of the free agent market look at him because that's where you really make you. Tim lasso rematch and David Price and you joked about what we're looking for some news here at these it's winter meetings. Does he get -- is it it is it is short the David Price is going to be on a different team but how we open up 2014. I asked that exact question to someone who would know last night he said I don't think he's moving here. 75%. That he will move before opening day. I think it's higher I think it's higher than 75% because they think the rays are very good at being realistic in saying. We can't keep him long term now's the time period. You know I don't want to trade in my obviously but the key of course it is who is in a position to give them the very best young -- that Taiwan walker. Some it Archie Bradley somebody like that. And somebody else at least. And then be willing to pay an enormous amount of money to keep them how many teams can do that can Seattle do that may be Seattle can do that. It's full payroll flexibility and a big TV contract and they need somebody else to make the rounds to go signing worthwhile also. So I keep here in Seattle and yet. There are a lot of times they say that's not gonna happen there so it's really really tricky and the one thing the rays are not getting these trade him without. Taking your very best young players their rate at that. That last vote for me it's Stephen Drew. The -- -- horses agent but the -- all Paul funk guys don't again that I know that probably seventh fourteen I think it's going to be difficult for him. Are you hearing any market for -- they still think he comes back here. I think the market. Kind of went away to some degree. Quincy Lewis signed -- -- still not sure why they did that how much Stephen Drew and you guys seem on the time. But you can only tell about it the principle that when you see him play 6710. Games for a he'd agree to it's I've seen him before obviously and I thought he was really good -- even better than I thought some of the plays. He made in the post season. And I don't see huge market for him and I think the Red Sox would be. Will serve to bring him back and I don't see another team that's right on that -- the Yankees certainly could use him let. Don't think he wants to play second base or third base even -- that -- eighteen to really need -- shortstop so I'm not sure there's a great market form. And I think that Red Sox certainly are still in. -- great insight -- like QB hoping for some news here next couple days appreciate the time it's always of course exams are the great -- -- should be as the end joining us here from our broadcast location.
