Transcript - will not be 100% accurate

I have been looking for -- well our next guest us that we heard he was going to be on yesterday he is our favorite person like you say that without fear of contradiction with no Francona in Cleveland. Is our favorite Cleveland guy. Esquire Magazine and author of the war of Akron our pal Scott -- joins us on the AT&T on good morning Scott how -- Top -- thanks guys how are you were doing very good. I was -- whipped the queasy yeah ask your mister Cleveland. You we consider you an expert on all things Cleveland -- -- you know do you know Alex handy is. Alex any yet this ten million. -- -- You talk about I was walking through that door. -- I don't understand how to -- -- doesn't have this guy in their playing quarterback already asked caddie is walking through that door on Sunday and the patriot subsite Italians huge stroke. Really so you've seen the video and he'd be trick shot video. If we have about a little period -- It's a little wide receivers have to dress as garbage cans -- they run down the field penalty drop right in. Well I think what they're doing bit. Workers put in a two cargo truck he's flooding the bill. Would never -- up at. Do we this is this is slows it I mean you've been through it all does it get any -- does he get any more desperate anymore. Hopeless than this for your browns now. I've made every time the Cleveland fan thinks that it's not gonna get worse and invariably gets worse. But but this as the low point this is it's bad right now and if you're lucky you'll see out brand that we knew he had to be cleared. Yet the NFL's concussion protocol. But I looked at worst quarterbacks it in the history of the league although I don't I'm I don't -- I don't think there's any that have gotten much play. But as far as slapstick comedies go I have not even -- this -- Charlie Chaplin. My guess is looking at that video. He made every one of those shots or passes connections on the very first try to editing and Walters got it. It's hard to tell what the -- video but he went to mount the stage yeah was a record setting division three guys there I'm willing. They they have a Smart play package format I understand that the -- usual offensive pyrotechnics. Might not apply. But you know that that's an awful football team and and worse than that outside a -- between shenanigans. They're boring to. To be there eight if he if he does start that will be their ninth different starting quarterback since 2010. The browns are now just a consistent suppression or any of them any good Scott. Now. No I Derek Anderson there's been named -- -- -- -- in 2007. But in general we're talking about guys like Colt McCoy. I'm glad a couple of games where you -- look like you might turn out -- -- -- bit. Brady Quinn. You know it's as with the head coaches often often in Cleveland. -- when the browns get rid of someone they're still paying them for a few years but that person will no longer be employable as a head coach in the national football. It occurred to me Scott as I'm reading all about Alex tell you this morning. It is if you have lowered your standards to bringing any trick shot artist who is yet to play eight Dow. In a regular season NFL game. What does that say about these spots and consideration of how load to empty bowl has sunk in the minds and hearts of people run NFL teams. -- bad that's a question that's between Tim Tebow what is spiritual guide that's a tough one to ride that took. Talk about brutal reality. You want the browns won three in a row. Back earlier in the year late set them trade Minnesota Cincinnati buffalo after the government Trent Trent Richardson we think can. That that was the spark that they were gonna go on Iran and and I have a year here and maybe get the playoffs. Well I think the spark was with wind weakness that Brian Hoyer came in April spirit it did a really light -- job. And you could tell it added effect it's almost like -- perfect experiment. I think the C a football team sort of waited. Because the entire team understands but that is gonna do not being -- will put the defense in harm's way over and over -- Brian lawyer and -- That's a really nice job know what no one knows. Relative to what will it will ever have lasted -- -- actually haven't we won't know yet -- games in the quarter before paring his base CO. And and -- for those two games that was part of that spark that led to a few wins the team look like a legitimate and it felt great. -- that Goodyear at Cornell he talked about they won ten games each year since they've -- either for five do you get the sense we -- there. There's a Fred just -- has direction that they know where they're going they just still in the -- still -- weeks. Think they know where they're going there's another new regime in place the owner. Is awaiting criminal indictment does the pilots flying. These guys set out to paint this year the Richardson deal was certainly part of that we'll see how it turns that would actually make the selection of Indies. -- number 124 -- but in general. You know it's a pretty hopeless situation -- these guys they they drafted by keeping his Mingo. The other -- they punted the draft bingo. And get this back a month. You know that the most not impact number six player on defense I can imagine. And so it's really tough to find a reason to believe that this regime some not gonna get it done when they've been so pathetic for so long. -- can do some brief update you touched on briefly of the owner as he he had to step down and handed to like 210 year old father is that -- run on the deal out. -- no that's one of the contingency plan. They're -- that adds that this state the FB IIRS joint raid on nine pilot headquarters was last April 15. So now we're in December and it's still not clear -- when there will be criminal indictments. And whether the owner Jimmy has put himself will be named in in one or more of the indictment so we're we're waiting for that news to break. What -- the allegations that he did wrong. Well that they defrauded hundreds of corporate customers. Over a period of at least 45 years to -- a very complicated. System of rebates that were calculated. Mistakenly on purpose by the pilot office and at the customer the trucking company didn't get it right. No -- ever say anything about it. A Euro one China and started Josh Gordon is no one strike away from a full year's election. -- you'd be surprised to be made it through the year without. I think -- positive. I think he's doing grade -- -- it's not an -- ability have been around long enough to know you can't separate these things you know you really can't. They get their teen culture there judge Gordon came out of college. I hadn't failed a couple of three test for marijuana. This time it was for for cocaine. He eased in phase -- it will be the rest of his career so he's essentially one violation away from being definite and perhaps career suspension. And and of course the terrible irony in itself Cleveland is guys February I think he's he's bill that would with. Terrible quarterbacks it is not even replacement level went up a quarterback and he's doing what I mean the only thing they have out of the backfield if they have the remains of Willis McGahee yet. The technical about it. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- And part of the DNA of being a Cleveland Browns fan is this inherent. To the fiber of your bone hatred for the Pittsburgh Steelers I'd be interest to your Bible like Collins someone. I'm not buying anything Tom went down in the fact that the Steelers that coached meat doesn't make it any worse yet it felt. It seriously look at fine players for being out of uniform because there were in the wrong it's your manufacturer shoes. What do you have to do to send the message to the head coaches in the N about the that kind of behavior is way beyond the pale. It's funny about the Steelers because over the years I have gained. A lot of respect just from the stability of the excellence. And at Berkeley -- Cantu who call you traitor for second so. But their sister cities and I'm old enough to remember when when the crowd would take the Steelers but with the same regularity. But that they -- franchise that is evident evident bad here but they consistently maintain a level of excellence I can only envy. Where you're at the that the game was -- last week Cleveland -- in the -- town that the storyline was that it was different than before no more boos don't -- young LeBron it's humanity welcoming come home that was numbers coming up by use W cheering gallery there are. Now how does this apparently did what other fan base is so lacking any sense of pride and dignity. Bet that this is the fourth season since you left that he's won two titles. And and who we're all certainly I think they'll be a statute Albert Pujols and -- will this week at the and whoever built a monument to Roger Clemens there now. -- in the -- -- -- Cleveland they had stitches. Their ruling over the possibility at. The put the funny thing has. Management has left a hole at at small forward they look at -- -- break wrapping up pretty bad it. At the UNLV. This guy may be the would police still are statistically the worst number one overall pick in the history. Yeah shooting -- point 2% right. It's unbelievable totally lost out there reported to his first can't -- out of shape gasping for -- he's got both sleep apnea and asthma. I guess I have those two things you know ads and have got a genital ailment. Yes that's. -- want to go out the other threat it. Highly -- Dion Waiters played it backwards you're leaving a bit cold -- so that LeBron could perhaps conduct another hour long. In -- show. Good ice Scott road from the comeback just for you pile that would be good for a Scott rob industries. Are you still basking in the glow of a of the Terry Francona manager of the year award is the euphoria still palpable on the ultimately. It did you know what if you're not looking for euphoria as the Cleveland fan. Went went went Francona and his guys made it to the one game played against the rays. It would cost to New York City at this point. We drove my wife my side and -- drove Cleveland. For the game certainly weren't expecting to win didn't get a win. Got in the car and drove back 450 -- so -- it could go to school the next day so it might not be euphoria. But I'll take it. I believe -- with biscuits we are nothing if not positive here's what you can hang your hat on this weekend. The advantage the browns have over the patriots this weekend is that Bill Belichick has only one. Trick shot YouTube video which just got the quarterback of the -- that's all we have to look at. We know back. That he would probably might affect people with moderate stage. Because that -- got -- always a pleasure talking to your your boot thanks for the time. My pleasure guys got grabbed the author of the horror of Akron referring of course to. LeBron James you know is kind of an Esquire and holding -- -- is true yeah -- come back.
