We're going to be hearing a lot more Gary Stevens of Alaska -- once he did a podcast interview check -- WEEI com this week for the first real flavor I think later. If and when Max and I ever are in the same place at the same time ever again we're gonna do some more long ball reform stuff we won't with coach Stevens. Just -- eyes I think it's bound to happen at some point a lot of -- depends on death on your schedule obviously -- and Dave O'Brien schedule with the -- act. It's interesting to me and now it's become kind of -- street that we haven't been the same place yet the same you know probably. Continue that we keep Beagle mix -- kind of I'm gonna be post do you -- year we -- met like in Baltimore we should diabetes you're in Charlotte from Boston right now. -- ball for the don't think that Jason wants the -- -- -- wanna listen station that all the time just a taste of what. What what -- locals don't look you have to ask you know that was the ball. All right we're gonna try to give back to I would call a normal it would do in the show for two months of this really know normally yet the later on today and -- -- mirage on Rondo. Arguably Rondo is greatest game game five of the 2012 Eastern Conference finals in Miami we're gonna be reliving that. We will take -- your phone calls a little bit later on. We are going to spend some time talking about the twentieth anniversary of the death of Reggie who listened such an amazing day and really unforgettable. Time that followed shortly thereafter and the documentary come up tomorrow night on Comcast but meanwhile. Meanwhile. As we continue marked for all of the Celtics are. I think beat writers but Chris -- so much more than a -- yesterday. He's of the video biographer without be a fair term -- -- -- -- I guess so it wouldn't. -- you know it now in the world digital media if you wanted to show up with a notepad like it was done in the old Isis which can do it but. -- shows up when these guys he was taken videos that news conference is posting them online before anybody knew I'd do them before you were all. It's to Grambling on your iPhone course is doing all the stuff and in covering the team he's been ESPN Boston -- guy. Covering the Celtics for the last few years and it's. Truly ban a fascinating time because. Now we've and 045 weeks of the Doc Rivers Sonko -- sad farewell news conferences we have Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. And now eventually they'll come a time and I think that time is now where you were gonna get the schedule probably the next week or so all of a sudden faced with the fact that. There is an entirely different team and we've all been focused and rightly so on one what is. Now we got to turn to see what is so my question to you Chris is what is there what is this team. I wish I do I mean it's hard to put put a finger on it right vicious and a question mark you can't. Really predict that I think it's funny everyone in about a belly after. KG and pierce got traded away at our listeners and well which -- that the young core of Rondo and Bradley and so under. You know -- -- -- for their for their own -- did that maybe they need to do is taking things in and lose more games get a better draft command. Yes and -- inside a a little ranking of the 16 teams in the Eastern Conference last week in -- permit thirteen. It off and -- -- the -- -- like nobody got knocked out they disrespect this team like just how can you possibly predict. How they're secure approach -- thought that it never played without the security blanket them but see here are gonna react. I don't know I'd it much this is all new world I think it's kind of cool because. I don't a lot about these are not a lot about that this human it is it's -- it in China they embraced. But that seems to me look at who think it's just day. To me -- fascinating mix of talent that you have young -- When you think about Jeff scream some of the things he's they would do sellinger. Who you just got in a snapshot of the last year. But you know -- Hurts so much about him. This is the team that he would come -- the cupboard is bare. As you know you'd like to -- it as most Celtic fans who think about this team -- team it as they say. That would want to have this much in the firepower when you think about guys who can actually play the game. Yet evident in the way I look at it is there's still that that tight knit. Group in American Bradley it's important to be in jeopardy those guys were really tight and this and I don't I don't know if it was it's a new. Where they -- was gonna happen this quickly. But there I felt like they had this this sense about -- that -- -- outside the longer term deal that they were going to be part of this future at some point. It would swap of Batman and you know obviously for -- Ramirez well. It. I just wondered if it's they've got a bit of -- chip on children talk to a lot of those guys out of Orlando. You know -- -- the -- tank and players have to say that they -- they're a bit they're too proud would otherwise. But the other also feel it's respected because you know really. I'm orbit are I don't panicking and that's the big question marks a big debate they have some in the group. And -- have a lot about the guys on this team this year I can Rondo be a leader. Without that Big -- support system can be re Bradley make the next Japanese game. It's on your bounced back is just what we saw. Playoff -- -- -- -- find out and it probably pretty quickly. -- -- into this EU wanted to make he says some it to mean it's really interesting about the Rondo leadership thing and obviously last year. Was the years of the torch was the radically past Rondell from a leadership standpoint let's face it did not go that well. In the first half of the year but is it possible as I ask a leading question which Irish are allowed to do when you -- talk -- is it possible. That leadership. Will be easier for Rondo without the mammoth. Presence of KG a pol and -- -- Yes I think it if you go either way if you don't have those guys -- -- your message and becomes a little bit more difficult. For the treasure this whole kind of leadership voice made me see here I think it. I know a lot of younger guys and we -- younger at least seven and -- -- -- what was quite some themselves so. He still has a lot of those guys in here remember. Chris Wilcox on us last year about how does to go around the house and how they've looked up plan and just because of what he's already accomplished and the level of player he is so. Public and these artists is -- people sort of -- it will be maybe it will be easier maybe you will emerge. It's huge you probably think about it he hit three years left on the contract. They make a decision is she part of their future you know they get paid big money set to make him franchise cornerstone. So I'd regardless of how -- -- come back from the CA CL surgery and about all of a can of worms get. I'd like pierce and Garnett helped take it's like -- it. And they don't come back to December January in the so they keep saying they want about there are. For opening night whenever he is on the floor it's going to be telling it's going to be -- a chance for in the group that you can't -- security via a building block for the future. Pierce -- Garnett delicate a vote by the way anymore India -- -- Israel but by the -- away at it in in this whole thing. -- given advice to a Toronto which you like to do on his Sean would say talk radio this is our show. One thing that's on the do the first to although he's going to be dealing with the injury coming back. His limitations. What might be what he can't do what he can do but the first thing he's got to do. He needs to repair his relationship. With the working press. Around him because he is -- immediate -- those guys denied and I had them come to me. If reporters he threw and the economy and say you know I hate this guy don't don't. You know why he he do he doesn't treat me that he he treats me in a way and even. He was you know I guess you -- how much younger players around him like Jeff Green. There were certain things were players that were -- said well. I want to talk to Jeff Green and Rondo said hey Jeff don't say amendment simply leave him alone he -- about that. So. -- -- point two yet there was one thing that he's we'll have to do outside of basketball. That is going to be to repair that relationship and he's Smart enough to do. It because he's coming back off this entry. He's going to need the press maybe a little bit more did he might the -- would so that will be my my advice to Rondo palace -- now talking to. Yeah I see that and and you remember flasher when they originally brought back -- duel and I think that was a big part of it was so you'd have that force in -- -- steering him. In the right direction and yeah it will they have another guy like pat who can make sure -- -- it to go in the right pass and talk in the right. Wiz a guy I mean what -- -- -- -- who is big guy right now they can talk to Rondo that you looked on this team. That she says okay Ron those duel with that it was Perkins at one time you would think that. Jason Terry in my the system did to him occasionally Paul Pierce or Garnett. But now look at the roster of all the younger players on this team. When Rondo is wrong who always point to be that one guy who's won the step up into his grill and say no. That is not the way we're going to do it that's -- not that's not a team way for us. Doc Rivers was a bit the guy so now this is why their relationship with the new coach and Rondo is going to be that much more fascinating because. You gonna have to have somebody who's gonna pull the reins occasionally or Rondo. Yeah I was in the door to catch -- but -- additional slogans now you're you're paying it I point one million dollars from the vehicle or by trying to search and what all the baby sitter but he is going to be -- got the most experienced guy really on the scene. He probably needs to earn some of that money side by doing that ball and yeah -- -- it's not part of the typical contract by. You know he'd like you're good veteran presence you know he's well traveled well respect -- opera but -- -- -- -- to get to Rondo and make that a priority early on. But if you're not playing. As Bogut would probably be. They respect factor there isn't as high as when you have a guy on the floor playing with -- And the people like to say oh you got this guy make but if that guy is not on the lower. You have a -- -- he's not involved in the games as much as you might think. I remember times when you know later on my career away when I didn't. Maybe missed a couple of games have been -- because no no injury but just be an older and not in the mix you almost feel alienated. From the team because you did not play and they gained so you don't feel as close to they gain as you might think you. -- -- -- But it -- that but the bottom liners like it's on him to show that he can be a leader and again and I think -- -- -- I don't buy -- -- whole -- -- -- Don't get around -- get along with Brad Uganda about how to overblown might not what you want to suggest green and ask him if he was OK with the coach you know it's. I understand we we we sort cater to the superstar no wonder what. They're thinking about it. I think you can get along just fine -- that -- -- get a chance that maybe they'll blow up for one reason or other. -- at least -- cancer. -- I would ask the one question in this is my leading question it'll explode as usual. Here's my question them pose the question you have is give me some -- the to go yes or no in in in this quick here. Paul Pierce we are you gonna retire his Jersey is Celtic. Look at Kevin Garnett when you -- -- -- is Celtic. Ray Allen -- you retired teachers has Celtic. -- -- It out there right because this game. But once -- -- -- yet other final. Blah blah black. You mean as much of the culture is much to their six. Yeah. No no absolutely because culture and held a six residents may well you you couldn't win without a culture and had success pretty much will be the same thing you could limit James -- you -- -- him which you wouldn't you knock on the -- when he wasn't a one of the Big Three you have you you just use the standard. Then there's clearly a pecking order here and I think they raised number again that would every -- Mets up which retired numbers. No offense Mac that the standard is different that you have to and eventually I do believe -- number will go up I believe there is the difference. And Chris is he's he's making the implication there's a gutless -- -- separate entity. I don't think you can compare Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen and say they are on equal footing when it comes to having their. Well you know you got one guy who obviously Kevin Garnett wanted to bestsellers of all time yes. But you got Blu-ray Allen who was going to be in the record books shock of all Kennedys fan and and look at this way here you're -- that they. Reality. -- like him don't like him. He shot against Miami his shots against when he was with the Celtics. Has changed the history. Of a professional basketball. This chase to legacy which is changed a legacy for -- report yet. -- -- -- while -- with -- death was go. I guess you're a regular -- at that drove the ball parade and -- you know what you you'll have you're gonna have time to be because. The Paula KG at the finish their careers and Paul's number goes up paying Kevin's number goes up. And Max you and I are gonna be having this discussion about whether or not raised number should go up both 35 years from what I was asked -- the earliest of. So here's the thing if the railroads will go down as you as you would say he's going to be a first round hall of Famer first ballot hall of Famer right. OK I don't know -- about it if you if if you're going to say. If he's that great of a player and has changed the history of the MBA in different ways to look at the teams out there. Milwaukee is not gonna retire mr. -- then it was Seattle will not retire ministers. -- at Miami will not retire his Jersey so his jerseys boy he's gonna go into the hall of fame. What team has behead them that the best. In the actual oath assess where. It's going to be with so things. Might get Marino on the wall -- Powell. Chris a couple things where let's go first of all since -- question you can answer who's the starting center on opening night. I don't know that's important quote that what you're like yes that's why every week we had to go back to ray Allen's number being retired because nobody knows -- going to be the -- opening night there's a decision on Shavlik Randolph would really be this week. Yeah out as himself and got it and they got to keep -- in another part of Buick you think -- there's -- be -- -- -- -- -- and I don't know patents. Swallow hard on some water make another move on and obviously gotten in the our -- -- -- here are our our god like bouncing Courtney Lee that I have bigger numbers that. Are at positions that are logjam right now. Chabot of a million wind is is is it really caught in your austerity be good rebounder -- seen -- in bite sized chunks. I just don't know what it is it would be ashamed if they couldn't carry guy -- A bit but the into the skills that you know obviously the roster crunch on here and that it -- -- at all. -- we're about to get to your phone calls we can talk about Rondo we talk -- roster composition regardless -- -- thing if you want. Later on we're going to be talking of the documentary on this the twentieth anniversary of the unspeakable. Tragedy of the loss of Reggie Lewis Chris what do you remember about the day. Yes so brigade from it was well and you know it everything just speed up. My dad taught ever about on the biggest -- standard. Just record like how -- -- -- -- and nothing in my dad are the vote veto would like that did it resonated with a but from a -- respect that's apparently got away your time for the Celtics obviously that that Big Three era and looking for the next China got -- -- about their Jersey and indeed brown won the dunk contest and not want but he wasn't going to be the guy. Just remember that there reductions this cute in my in my junior high priest have 35 scribbled all over his notebooks. And I would be advised we're being like you know I didn't really get that would what I was -- bad -- and -- Wanted Michael Jordan to do good and you know what this perpetrated any age to Sacramento like I didn't have my dirt getting bored. It just without -- doubt it was hard for me and then you know years later would resonate with it go back and watching it and speaking about everything just. It really is it's inevitable that -- meaning Jacqui column yesterday -- It'd -- just like our. You know you're Jordan again and the guys who. A lot of as younger kids were were gravitating -- that point talk about how good -- -- that or block scheme. And it is is it just so. I can't imagine what it was like Burgos to regret it and understand it -- point I've just -- some really hard about the. Max likes to talk about the on guard double shot in the NBA which that fade away and nobody ever did -- in Jordan and Reggie Lewis blocked that shot twice. In one game during that season as the game that that Jackie wrote about Chris Forsberg we will lull do this again not throughout the summer and now before you know it will be. Talking about Shavlik Randolph and Chris Humphries Keith Bogans and -- on Brooks and the -- and the new look Celtics who think startup. It is it's going to be fun it's going to be different it's going to be new and you're gonna -- Like new people to be of the biographer for -- -- -- other my -- also. Chris authorities and I think.
