Dale and Rob kick things off with their observations on all 4 of the major sports teams in Boston, because this weekend they are all valid. The guys start with the horrible thought of the C's possibly getting swept later today. Dale and Rob discuss their thoughts on the future of the Celts, both this season and going forward. The guys hit on the recent success of the Red Sox with a variety of players stepping up. The Bruins play their last regular season game of the year today and are looking toward the playoffs...however today's game does count for something! Finally, the boys move on to the Patriots and their draft picks and Bill's apparent love of the Rutgers program.
Red Sox Bench Coach Torey Luvollo joins the program to talk about Red Sox injuries and the MLB Replay process
Our number two Chris aligning with sports Sunday Sports Radio WEEI 6177797937. Then not all Red Sox some pretty much all Jon Lester threw the first hour lie detectors weighing in on the AT&T tax line on that will get to that just a moment. Out final round of the masters is going on a maturity people. Into getting into what is much science tiger. And without Phil as well he Mickelson showed up I think late Thursday night she flew in and Friday after energy is flied out. With Phil Mickelson. I he had a tough weekend are tough early going Richardson first round in a local guy Keegan Bradley struggled missed But there are some big games of the top the leaderboard some exciting. I young names of the Jordan's BT's twenty years old he's cash to win the masters I he'd be the youngest winner since 1979. LEB younger. Then the tiger was the first time you want it. And one of the things that really stood out to me is speaking with some people were down there this week to cover the toward talks and these young guys and it get back to tiger. The complete and water. Lack of off. Around around Tiger Woods to these guys are too young you think about twenty years old 21 years old with somebody like camera some would like walker. In somebody like Blix the Swedish guys and second right now and he's. He's like 28. You know some of these guys too young to really remember or at least have played with tiger against tiger. When he was hitting level like we never seen before the PGA tour earlier received since Jack. And they look at him now a Zagat shoot 77 on the weekends. Is that cats really contention anymore where is I mean Aaron I'm not old and your and all of you remember when. Final round tigers in the lead it was done forget about it I mean one year in the PGA YE Yang those big shots out late and ended up beating and yet that epic battle with Bob May. I nearly beat him in the PGA but it would for the most part just wasn't close he would get a lead and he was one of the best closers in the we'd seen in the sport. But it's just it's different now that's a different vibe. Around Tiger Woods and it's gone from seemingly a foregone conclusion that he would get to nineteen majors is seemingly foregone conclusion that he won't eat next year. Does play majors this year. Is give forty years old Jack won three. After he needs five Jack won three after forty to two of those were when he was forty and the masters in 986. Was kind of an out Larry's 46 years old. Tiger would be a hall of fame career from here on out five major championship all career to get in nineteen. I think it's interesting not only his fall from grace just as a player. In terms of winning majors the was in my opinion at least the best player on were last year he had five or six wins a torch to win major. But the bigger thing to me is just how some of these younger players perceive him do tiger as a contention it used to be regarded. The average stroke. The average round rather up a stroke in. In in the in the final round on Sundays when tiger was in contention real just kind of melted aged just. Folded around with a few exceptions mentioned Bob revealed in Nickels and it's good battles but. For the most part it was just tiger's world everybody else's playing for second they were on him Ernie Els just not Now is young guys just young enough to cocky enough and don't really remember that at least they didn't play through it. And they're saying how statute 75 on the weekends with what's not ID in the turn now but. I should be upon Sunday Bubba Watson very very likable guy. And I Jordan who were finding out a lot about trying to become the youngest masters winner a long time quick birds update we'll get back to the calls against 617779. 7937. Cordially NC DM IA's doing great to get the good news on him that was definitely a concern that you know DM IAA was. Out I got hit looked like in the that it from I thought it was illegal but not dirty if that makes sense I don't think there was intent to injure there. It was just one of those times you're trying to make a hockey play get the principal point contact up higher and you won it. So I thought it was an illegal hit not a dirty hit but by a help not the that you concussion translated to on the ice Thursday that part we don't know just yet. But Patrice Bergeron it sound like is fine I he missed the third period yesterday that would would have been a huge concern. I outside to go. There's not too many guys you point to and say this more important to the bees and Bergeron two way player in hockey this year. Obvious he's good according to coach Julianne and Chris Kelly looks like still day to day with that back injury so some. Relatively speaking. Minor bumps and Bruce is going into the Stanley Cup Playoffs but you know these guys especially Alec Bergeron if he could be on the ice on Thursday against the red he's going to be there. I HTT tech slide is 37937. It's like grab a few of these real quick a one Dexter says eight times over David Price let Lester walked. While you make Casey price a better pitcher at this stage of his career early younger I can cost more money. And now your bidding against everybody else you've got the cost control guy. Housing cost control we get the guided the under your control rather. The of the exclusive negotiating window with wants to stay here to guide it. As more in depth track record in the post season to sign him. And that point it's not a knock on price and gives great pitcher. But if you're looking at what you can do it even easier than that that will save you some money relative to what price can get on the open market signed last. I know detector can you imagine having Stanton in Boston did it forty plus homers easy architecture from western mass. Two words about prospects Daniel yep they can go hard the other way. I another one here says agree with you order percent top of the rotation guys talk about Lester innings a year post seasons died. Given the cash over five years five for one and should get it done. And out finally is Lester stats are comparable to average career he walked away from 244 million Lester has been better than Homer Bailey and look at the contract. That he just signed a few textures telling me the gets four clocked at. Well evening parade for a UConn for the championships I assume the men and women together out both of them winning the national title. Yes as tougher as Turkey's but happy for Kevin Ollie who now is the next. Hot coaching named to go from college to the end beauty after eight seasons. But undefeated in the NCAA tournament ally guys can say that are at six or 77797937. is in New Jersey he's up next When then. Just try to not cute bit Ali thank you and I can't believe that a low ball. Jon Lester like they don't agree that you like a side impact by one and whatever argument sake. We have been out of my. But you see a lot of contracts for your team that have gone got into the contract stratosphere and some of them have really worked out so well. But for a number like dapper Lester what he's so willing to stay. I agree I was surprised. When I saw what the number was at the end of spring training where the Red Sox know Lester broke off toxin seems like a a low ball contract terms of dollars in a low ball contract thirty years. definitely. god I G I mean lucky probably let out a little bit like that way radio reluctant I had. Yeah I mean yeah I'm with you thanks to the fall being a former yankees fans perspective. They're never shy about spending dollars. That Lester contract is makes sense and I've said this a few times. Because just getting back to this point I do think my gut still tells me they get a Don. Gut feeling they still get this contract done because I hate candidate it player just wants too much just wants to be a Boston too much. You back going to be here at the expense of taking deal it's foolish and a four year seventy to eighty million dollar contract before which. At ball way below market terms years below market terms the average annual There's no upside here it sounded like a Red Sox blown away with a give you four years but here's point six million a year. Which is probably more than you gonna get I guarantee each and every year on the open market that it could at least. I still think Lester would walk away from crystal he'd say no. But I could look at that is saying the Red Sox in good faith effort to try to. Do with last year what they've done with other guys which is over pay an average annual dollars but try to take that discounted terms of the number years seventy. I can't say that. I can't see it as they came under years came under dollars 6177797937. Bill isn't busted up next they've built. They would subject. who visual. You know what about. You guys keep in the world. Could together okay. guys they look at the guys renewed deal if everybody involved. Make him have the option to. Who boarded deals rivals ordered to the guys will. Make it work. So real simple. So three years of his make sure Israelis and three years seventy million. And then assuming he stays healthy another two years at how much. Ordered me at all. That would come out to volley at 5110. About then you know what would actions. YouTube. 120. It was cute guys so. Yeah It it it any guaranteed dollars sport. That that's just not gonna work for the players work for last. Well hope what works right now what made two big guy a two year deal seven million. With a guarantee. Appeared to remain nimble. The two more years of targeted what are enviable. Well let's get. That that that the five year 120 million dollar contract. Where. OK I guess that that's reasonable but I mean you if you're guaranteeing the money that it's not three years in the two years to five years. And yet we could what three years didn't work out three years it will be created numerous believe that you develop very animated. You know. Yeah I mean I like well. I guess I can't get what you in there you know again trial period so to speak at three year seventy million dollar. You know test blown the CP states LP and see if he still producing. The news saying guaranteed fifty million after that which is five for once money. Why would John again you'd think about it okay hometown discount know we heard the operator gets excited about it. to get past the idea of a hometown discount meeting complete insanity. Seventy million dollars even over a three years average dollars a lot of money. But it still. 50% of what can get out in the open market. You know why would I take seventy million guaranteed even for three years when I could just double that six years guaranteed at 140 million. You know six I can get that extra seventy million dollars over three more seasons just to go out in the open market. That would be a great team friendly kind of idea but Lester were being eyed Joseph and Wakefield once the way HL. What they've done so much for the in the you know 78 years. That burning up I don't know are already up at. I agree with UN and the injury concern for me is that they're now we are talking about Clay Buchholz we'd be having added I merely different conversation. But with Lester even a year it was bad in 2012. Still pitch to plus innings. Yeah I mean you don't get a picture wondering about that party and you don't hate you guys brought there get a going to be offered. And I are I think I really like the attitude that you just want the behavior I don't understand why the Internet situation black. We're not talking about giving the guy a 140. I'm not all that with the amount of money more book like the object audit. Well he had I think the Red Sox kind of Hewitt in the regard as well that's why I wasn't completely floored when he said OK if we here opera was the most that they had. I'll put out there by the time they broke off negotiations. But I'd be and neighbor of 400. Yell now and a and a big. Average annual value a Ford seventy for is an opera that you know the players get a that's an opera that it's designed to be turned out. Yeah independent though they looked like but based on the yacht I don't know it. All the the PR stunt getting negative PR because I think I had tickets ridiculous they have any Lester did lie to me if he blocks away at the end of the day. And and the Red Sox look back and in the end flick back and say. And they could of they could negotiate they could out of spring training but the only opera percent beat the teams the only one's gonna look bad that's an. Aerial my opinion darker integrated you know integrated I'm sorry you know it made it. It's the same age and it did Dustin Pedroia has I can't think of his name off my head to similar Pedroia as we negotiated down discounts the This situation it is thought here we cannot I mean update completely done park are now completely. It sounds like till the end of the season got to do have an exclusive negotiating window. Went thanks for the college and they've exclusive negotiating window with Lester. After the season is over and that it's free agency. But you know in my mind even if the Red Sox were come back with a big number in the fall. But it even gets to. Reagents even gets to the point were other teams are our ticketing contracts are offers a Lester you're probably spending more than what you have spent. It just get the deal done now. You just avoid any possibility any any chance did you rate in the another team another suitor and unlike David Ortiz we can't you know we had a debate about Ortiz is going to be even a market that is. And I thought maybe lot of people but absolutely now. That's fine with Lester there's no debate right. I mean when I can debate the fact that it thirty year old going on 31 year old lefty it's starting pitcher with a great post season track records that market. We know that that's the case there's going to be money thrown at this. So you have the opportunity. To not only negotiate exclusively with him up or you even touch or even Free agency. It to get an offer on the table to sign this guy if they're not able losing the player beat. I signing into a deal that maybe goes outside their comfort zone because now they worry about free agency not to worry about other offers them. You could have made a better fate in my mind decide than these reported figures in at these numbers are right you know he's not taking. It's an it's designed to be refused to keep brought out their deceit it's a hit proper. I don't think organ necessarily buy that I think that this mark baseball banner that. That they and as long as you're in line with keeping Lester some cables don't want that at any high price and that's fine that's your opinion I disagree by. It any band that wants Jon Lester back is valued at his team. It and understand just what the market is looking for the seventy's at It's an insult. Text messages committed 37937. AT&T like. Texas is Red Sox have too many pitches in the system they had the upper hand. Now that it's does its thing is too many pitchers in this is have a lot of starting pitching depth they have a lot of potential. As allowed by hope and is better than Jon Lester obese Kerr shot why not. But you know what you have in Jon Lester. You don't know what you have yet Henry and that goes to my point of if you're gonna have some of these cost control pre arbitration arbitration guys up. Lester got the money to do. He could have a a lot of money coming off the books over the next read of where years. Yet a pitcher John Lackey threw for 500000 dollars on next season. In NA and it not a salary cap sport but it sport I care about a 189 million dollar luxury tax threshold for the at least they're from last. I that to take three years the market's already at five to six. years as Lester won't get 140 on the open market I disagree I think he will. I the Texas is give Lester one of these two deals. Or for a hundred or seven and 12611. if the offer candidate for for a hundred then I would say you know the Sox made an effort. They made shots try to sign him and take battled down discounted terms of the year when it for par seventy it. and a few text is going back to a couple calls as a wide world Lester take three year deal and a trial period. We can get five years guaranteed and I completely agree this is an interesting text here get this one before the break. I you know I'm not entirely sure why everyone has the phrase 110 for five I should get it done because he had no idea. What will get it done in theory. Yet that would be a hometown discount. 111 for five years an option six and eight I have no way of knowing. Whether that would get it done so he's looking at 5110. I just keep coming back that number because I look at. What the market would probably and keep going back to guys like Cole Hamels you know reasonable comparable to last year's regular season numbers I see six. In 144. EC 23 and change per year so take roughly that average annual value. 43 in his case it's going to take a year back it five years old hometown discount. But he's not leaving and and the billions of dollars That's why I come back to that number I'll get it done I have no idea what I'd be willing to go to say. 150 over 520 million a year probably. Start pushing diablo or we'll talk. You see what the number but a number I have in mind. And a lot of people have in mind they think 22 million a year twenty to 22 million a year years and college day. Five years a 10210 million dollars 6177797937. The point though I had no idea we don't know. What gets I can tell you this though. Ward seven he doesn't get it on told you that before knowing. That that was the for the Jon Lester turned out we get back to your calls coming up next we'll talk war. A Red Sox get to the Bruins as well and what touch and the Celtics before the end of the show as well get to 4 o'clock Chris Blondie with Sports Radio. WE yeah.
Villani doesn't understand the Red Sox' approach to the negotiations with Jon Lester for an extension. Sure, you have to start somewhere, but their offer was so off base, it was almost insulting. He wonders if the Red Sox truly want Lester in the future and if they don't, WHY!?!
The Red Sox will have the proverbial log jam in the outfield when Shane Victorino returns - what should they do? Send Jackie Bradley back down, make a trade or something else...Butch and Buck discuss.

I mean you could probably say. Less than five times a year. Where all four. Of the major pro sports teams in Boston are legitimate talk show topics. Yes it doesn't happen -- having to think about it it makes sense. You know by the time that. Patriots start playing the Red Sox are wrapping up the Celtics haven't started the Bruins haven't started yet you have some overlap with. With the patriots Bruins and -- in like November and December. But the Red Sox are gone I mean it doesn't happen often but this is one of those magical days. Where we could legitimately sit here and do an entire talk show about anyone of the four major pro Boston sports and not be -- Purdue -- I would make the argument that. What makes it even more bizarre. Is that the one that we're probably gonna talk about police today. Is this one the one who is in the playoff game. I think the Celtics value my theory yeah you're probably I was gonna say the team it's. That's got the best record in Major League Baseball at seventeen and seven. That were at Fenway and I've probably should've said that beginning I'm Dale Arnold he's -- -- one we are generally we are at Fenway. And they do have the best record Major League Baseball. I mean is that Houston Astros let's not go crazy here but they have won the first three games of the four game series looking to complete the four game sweep this afternoon here at park. Baseball is is a viable topic because this team quite honestly has surprised a lot of people including. I thought they'd be okay if their pitching was OK they're pitching that's. Much better than okay. Well there wanna think you're get that April 28 April 30 correct yes yeah April 28 in with the best record Major League Baseball. No -- you would have been even if you thought that you -- say it it will laughed off the airwaves we'll let this did anybody think that the Red Sox week it to. It is April 28 with three starting pitchers who haven't lost the game yet. Yeah yeah ball. I think more importantly epic it's been two losses a starring Peter rice then Ryan Dempster has been very very good up and could be that streak they were on of giving up three runs or lasts. And they had a little a little bit of a blip. But there are picking up right where they left off. You look at who brought last night yes he he he started off terrible but still at the end of the day six and two thirds. With three runs. You'll sign up that every single time and that's how it's been it's unbelievable and if anyone wants to argue about the importance of starting pitching of what is the most important thing for Major League Baseball team. First look at the Red Sox and what they're starting pitching in the -- has done but then look at the Yankees. -- -- -- with you with those cast of characters that they have. In their lineup right now yet it as long as Hiroki Kuroda is under three. Any -- under three CC sabathia is right around three ERA. They're going to be edit. That's what's the most important thing. So the Red Sox are a viable topic we will discuss the Red Sox as the day goes on -- -- -- supposed to join us down here and our center field studio we'll talk with him at some point. Let me just lay out the schedule for you here today because even I was somewhat confused. Rob and -- are here and our Satterfield studio Fenway Park from nine until 1230. At 1230. Here on 93 point seven we go to the pregame show for Boston Celtics basketball. Celtics -- at the garden this afternoon at 1 o'clock against the New York Knicks. It's pretty simple -- -- the home yet is that they're down and I don't think you'll be able to -- when I did a lot of people to -- -- home. I yesterday you were mentioning that you saw the entire knicks team here you work. Getting on the elevator they were getting off elevator JR Smith that -- unity no no but I as I said if I only do the news hasn't come down quite yet I would chased him down. Would my Fedora and hand that little card as if -- cart -- Now that it's a -- on Ricky. RJR took the -- just comment for the people so at what at 1 o'clock today 1230 pregame show here on 93 point seven. Celtics knicks basketball playoff game at the -- yes. The Red Sox game this afternoon against the Houston Astros is on AM 850. And that starts at 130. Whole bunch of stuff going on with that that comes up this afternoon. And then to top it all off like there's not enough going on in this town. Tonight at 7 o'clock there is a a hockey game at the garden it is the only game left on the national hockey -- get all this is the game. Bruins and Ottawa Senators that was scheduled to be played the night of Monday April 15 and we all know what happened in this city on Monday April 15 none of us will ever forget that date. Not too hard to figure out the NHL correctly surmise there's no way we can play a hockey game in this city that night they postponed it. Bruins actually are the only team we can find an NHL history that had three games postponed this year. They had a game postponed because of the blizzard of gigantic blizzard in Tampa Bay. It's right couldn't play that one handed jam that -- at the end of the season they have the Monday April 15 game against Ottawa. That they couldn't play had to jam that in -- at the end of the season and then they have the Friday game. The night that I'll I'll steal this from John Jerry that ship -- and got captured in Watertown. But -- the third state game when the entire city was locked down. They couldn't play that went to date they are the only team in NHL history that had three games postponed. The last game in the regular season in the National Hockey League. Every other team -- done in the NHL except Boston and ought to all eyes turn to Boston -- all are here they play tonight at 7 o'clock at TD garden -- bull gang at the garden is gonna get worked out to -- man let me make this simple for hockey fan and Bruins fans everywhere okay. We know the Bruins open the Stanley Cup Playoffs at home some time next week this coming week we don't know what day. Now let me let me interrupt you -- quick -- From what I heard. There's -- northeast new graduation on Friday correct correct so there's an issue aware of what the results with Celtics game scheduled for Friday you have this all the -- a much better chance to the northeastern graduation -- I'm just saying you can't you can't when you schedule playoff series he can't assume the Celtics are gonna lose all right Friday is out. Friday wouldn't play a -- arc in Thursday I don't know even know -- lineup of thirty Thursday nights out as well because they have to set up for a. Well I and I don't know why I've also heard that the setup for the northeastern graduation is this massive undertaking. Takes all day Thursday. You would think. Please don't take this is gospel OK nothing has been decided yet you would think based on what's going on here. That the first two games would likely not be until like Wednesday and Saturday then. Now if the Bruins play Canadians team I promise -- they'll play Saturday. Yeah that's Hockey Night in Canada it's gonna wanton and that will likely happen here's the scenario for. Tonight if you're a hockey fan if your Bruins that. If the Bruins beat the Ottawa Senators in regulation. Sixty minutes they win the game. The Bruins open at home against the New York Islanders then if the Bruins win in shootout or overtime. In other words -- gets a point. The Bruins play the Ottawa Senators. If audible wins tonight it any way shape or form regulation shoot out over time it anyway. The Bruins play the Toronto maple and those are the three scenarios that exist those of the three opponents all of that depending on what happens tonight at TD garden. At all by the way. Bill Belichick just finished drafting every records that watts. I mean not that there's not enough going on in this town but the the NFL draft took place Thursday Friday Saturday. They have stretched this out now over three days where used via a one day thing way back in the day. But a yeah it is that that time where all hopes her. Are alive ball carries a real I'd give them okay well lot of lesser jets fan who kept -- -- I don't know the Jada Smith broke Twitter. -- the jets and geno Smith broke Twitter. And -- their front of my TV when they announced that I started laughing out loud. And I kept going to the crowd shots of jets fans guys have their hands on their head but in this dumbfounded look like it don't we have six quarterbacks on the roster right now. Who all play a different way and we have to change your offense for every single one it was just it was amusing to now and so. That's why I say this is one of those few days one of the few weekends. Where every single want I mean technically we could even at the revolution because they are playing right now but -- agreement is to be honest here. We probably can't get a lot of revolution talk going but the other fourteens. You could make the case for talking about any of them. Celtics. Pretty simple scenario as you pointed out. They lose their done. Even without JR Smith based on what you've seen the first three games you probably don't love the Celtics to I think the -- In the conversation for the Celtics. Sad to say the ball into where they go from here. And I know that's what not what the people with -- Celtics won here but this is the reality and I heard it on the national show a little bit earlier today. But that's the conversation where do they go from here I think that has much more juice. Than if the Celtics know it today. I was listening to what ESPN radio on the drive in here Adrian -- around ski. Said that. It was his opinion and and his reporting that Danny -- was trying desperately to deal. Either or both. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett that the trade deadline -- loved the deal with the clippers couldn't get it done. You know work but they were trying desperately Danny was trying desperately to trade one of both of those guys and begin the rebuilding project -- Adrian said Danny will go right back to it as soon as the season's over leading up to the draft he will attempt to deal one or both. And and build this basketball team around -- on Rondo Jeff Green and whatever young pieces you get in exchange for either or both of those guys -- as he also. It out. With every passing day they get more and more devalued capsule and they're more devalued now than they were when they tried to trade him the trade deadline. And you head into this offseason and the way he's talking now and he knows he he's the best in the business when it comes this stuff. It doesn't sound like there's going to be a whole value for these guys if and when they tried trade them. No there's no doubt about that and as you watch this team against the knicks. The month of march there were actually Bruins fans in hockey financing historical tender controversy here and is Anton -- open as legitimate starting goaltender is Tuukka Rask -- everybody ultimately set no. Remember that discussion back during the course of the season when people were -- The Celtics are better without -- -- yes you know the Celtics are are finding -- -- played better without Rajon Rondo which is stupid people forget. That Rondo plays his absolute best. When blue lights of the brightest and usually that's in the playoffs people forget these playoff run for Rondo has carried them. -- is go back to -- to what he could've done with this team. This this and -- his defense a little bit this is the scenario like he'd mention them Arabia the they Larry Bird trade back in the day the chuck person Rik Smits traded west made. At the time that's unbelievable value for a guy who's at the very end of his career. There was no trade from what we know to be made like that look like did you just say no no no no no I I can't do that because I have these like. I just don't think the value was ever there to today don't want. This building blocks we can get for these guys. -- traded them didn't think it was wise to trade them based on what hole was in return yet. So the rebuilding begins a new all sport topics are sitting here on the table for us today and I I honestly don't even know where to start which one is at the top of everybody's list. Last night Red Sox with -- another win here David Ortiz that's the other member that went. Doesn't really matter you know Dave -- he should they bring in action -- mean did they make a mistake bringing him back. The F think that David Ortiz in the middle of that batting order. When he's healthy makes a difference to this Red Sox offense growth amazed at a third great sports live -- -- that we talk about its. It's amazing. That. You everyone knows about his stats so far but the stat that jumps out to me. Is what he's hitting against right handed pitching. I think eleven for fourteen so when they get to I think it was the fourth inning. And he already has these two hits and they estimate in Houston estimated choice here. What -- do you know pitch again to David Ortiz with a bases loaded with a right handed pitcher. Eleven for fourteen now will bring in the lefty in the middle even though the -- all in ninety pitches we'll -- to bring you know laughter. So yet in another programming -- -- quick yes. Which Stearns is on tonight as well eight to 113. So. And we do have a lock down no yes that that punctuated the whole. I will do as well will open up the lines will bring you guys in and we'll let you guys tell us which of the war. Teams in -- topics are at the top of your agenda today 6177797937. Is the telephone number you could always. Reaching the roberts' comments questions criticisms whatever you'd like. On our Twitter accounts app Brad fall. Our act dale. Looking at our at our Twitter accounts as well. But will dive into the call -- you -- just a couple of minutes 6177797937. Torrent of law will join us here on our center field studio at some point during the course of the program. It's dale and rob Bradford live at Fenway Park Sports Radio WE yeah it's. Question for we'll. Definitely -- fence just won't go out to you by. Throughout the way I would go get out there's room. A lot more vocal -- and -- excellent I was very disciplined very must win game if we need. Hopes to turn as they go come Sunday. Very disciplined. Certainly put ourselves in this situation. -- get ourselves. Celtics captain Paul Pierce talking about the situation facing his team as they host the New York Knicks this afternoon at the TD garden. As we set a huge local sports day Red Sox here at Fenway Park. Final game of the four game series against the Houston Astros Celtics at the garden 1 o'clock this afternoon game four of their series against the New York next. Bruins at the garden tonight at 7 o'clock. Final game in the entire National Hockey League. With a lot at stake so while a lot of stuff talk about and as we said the patriots finished the draft I mean at some point. I know I actually thought at the end of the draft Belichick was just messing with people. When he took another Rutgers did I mean I think he just got to the point where recently. Academic team anyway so we draft might -- that quarterback once again please I mean it's just one after another after another there was a great -- is that as the draft was going on. And I I I'm sorry I can't tell you who -- because I'd like -- credit where credit is due somebody tweeted out. Don't patriots fans wish Belichick's kid went to Alabama the -- -- it would just be better all the way around it that it getting every Rutgers player available. I also like the trend which they drafted. Pass rusher wide receiver defensive back pass rusher wide receiver defensive back. I mean there's there's -- three positions you've drafted. With and you generally argue with a lot of Taylor everyone likes the pass rusher. Everywhere like the wide receiver not necessarily drafted by the patriots but usually they do usually. And and you know the problems they've had within the defensive back so yeah I did I give them today dale. But thank you got a whole lot -- I think I give them upbeat Lhasa. I well I will give them high marks for this. Is that UN to this -- very few draft pick side do you think that you get. I when they traded out of the first round I thought this made this pretty good draft I think when I got four picks for one. At a position where it didn't really matter right I I thought overall it was pretty good draft in that regard. Look we can do this with every draft in every city and we could take major football minds legitimate football people not like you and -- OK and we could go back and look at there day after draft analysis. And see legitimate I mean that the joke in this town is always what Ron Borges wrote about. You know patriot straps of the past and Ron knows is football -- you can't you don't know anything right now. About any of these players I mean none of them have even been fit for a helmet yet. And yet we're supposed to -- well the patriots draft out of beat. Them like you know which of these guys seemed out of place. I'm watching the draft the fourth round yesterday and they're talking about the Syracuse quarterback right NASA right. And they went on Trent Dilfer. Who who have yet again milk hyper obviously. All those get hot action Todd access. And they're going on for legitimately fifteen to twenty minutes about this guy's arm action and how because he throws from a certain angle he can't throw -- five yard pass but he can throw it one year. And they're trying to convince me that the way they -- this guy grips the ball in his arm angle. Is you know what he's not going to be able to throw the five to ten yard pass. That Ron Jaworski gets on and said guys as well you. Be aware of this Tom Brady -- the football the exact same way has the taxi -- arm angle. But it just speaks to this I understand it has to analyze this -- really. Really this. The don't tell me that this guy's gonna fail because of that. It's over in -- nation. Eighties and all of the post draft analyses. All of with all due respect to Chris price and and everybody ends. They're all crap shoots. I mean anybody who was gonna tell me that they knew the year Brady was taken in the sixth round. He was gonna end up being one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the National Football League is lying. Anybody who says that all -- I knew that was your -- Every one of these lying if you say that so stop with this I mean the year that they took gronkowski in the second and Hernandez in the -- GAAP. Anybody who's gonna tell me that they know. Those two guys would become you know one of the most effective tight end to those in the National Football League your lie and also these. Guys get sucked into the Keydrick brown syndrome with the keep -- out brown syndrome is. We're gonna draft the guy to tell you how good it is -- gonna show you video of them computer Brown's case the video wasn't him dunking on. Five for five guys with the stage in the background. So it doesn't matter this video of him dominate we we can show regular let. I I sure are you could -- good video for the worse college player is played right now. So but that I like to draft I know that. Got Chris price and DJ they did a great job with a draft they go the comment not no. But I know what my point is is that they are totally immersed in and that's what the passion of that. Makes -- -- chris' case -- to really recall and drove off totally immersed so who I've ever seen anybody put more stock in the three cone drill the Chris price it was Josh Boyce. Was the Chris price -- Josh -- because he loved the three though he reviewed he dominated the three count. Well as long as -- dominate the three on you can dominate the -- that's always say why he. I know you have toward The -- why don't we have Brian Butterfield month. Big football guy angriest yeah yes he I think he predicted the -- draft accurately. -- -- -- -- And if there's anybody on the planet who can correctly predicted patriots draft from start to finish not named -- check. I'd like to know who they are in and what picks that the that the or what their smoke and make those fixed. Because nobody knows what -- gonna do know though you look at look at the mark the mark draster ridiculously bad. This year at a yield up and down by -- -- blaming them -- and everyone misses on him. Absolutely and I'm not -- as I said I'm not knocking anybody when I say. It the day after draft analysis well the patriots didn't dress thirty here and I -- the the classic one. And everybody goes back to a you know while the patriots could have had this to. But it misses of the of the Ron Borges -- that everybody likes a lot for what it's that they got Richard -- Like he's going to be able to do when he thing and that and then and the fourth -- I took Matt Light not ready to help your team anytime soon. That's the sort of thing that everybody does. Yeah every NFL city in America there's an analysis today the tells you all what a steel -- got this diet and that. I can't play -- and this is a C minus draft because they took that guy know. What he knows all -- not to bring a bad memories for party yours but -- David corral him and always jumps out the Alia. Yeah he had the the why it could -- not draft David corral why did they draft Richard Seymour. Which is fine if you watched one single machine game. It if you -- if you wanna say you watched David -- and you think that's that guy great but. Too many times and I'm sure guys people or say why didn't -- draft -- why they picked. Why they trade down. Well why didn't they go Eddie lacy was there they'll get him. But I would ask those people how many times have you seen these guys play. And the answer probably not a whole are probably not all 61777979370. If you wanna give us your draft -- don't. Okay we don't care what your draft greatest if you wanna talk about the draft and analyze it -- but don't give a -- unless at -- you wanna say Dee Myers because. I I don't see too many demonize this from patriots and no no I don't want your way I don't wanna I declared a right. If you wanna talk about the Bruins limping into the playoffs might Twitter account is filled with people talking about the Bruins limping into the playoffs -- interest -- interestingly. Gary Peterson actually felt better about the Bruins last night than he did going into the line. Because it because he doesn't like third period leads not not at all we know what that's been like this year -- for the first two periods the Bruins looked like the Bruins. They were getting great goaltending from Rask Milan Lucic each played as well as I've seen him play all year long for the second consecutive game by the way. Are they -- physical they looked strong. They gave up two power play goals in the third against the team with the best power play in the National Hockey League. They gave up a power play goal in overtime again against the team with the best power play in the NHL to lose the game and overtime. This is not trust me this is not dale complaining about the calls against the Bruins. I'm the part of Mikey Adams will continue to be played by Mikey Adams a but there are a couple of penalty calls and at that as you watch that you don't know OK all right but we got to kill this one off and they didn't mean. They'll play tonight against -- they want to throw a stink bomb then yes they're limping into the playoffs beginning next week while they go up there and win tonight. The Boston Bruins will finish second in the Eastern Conference they will win the northeast division title and I love this while they backed into I don't care -- you get there. If you get there you get there and oh by the way the team that will be better than them in the Eastern Conference might be better than everybody in National Hockey League but -- dale. Other than injury the worst case scenario for the Bruins today is they blow another third apparently. Because that's just that's going you're right it doesn't in the big picture you're not saying that you gonna define this team on this game. But you don't wanna continue down on this trend. That would be the worst in my in my that would be the worst thing to come out and besides injury obviously and and that that that's the biggest issue I have with tonight. I desperately wanted to rest char rest Seidenberg rest Bergeron rest Rask and tonight I didn't want any of those guys to play tonight. Now they all have to play Rask will have to start in goal you've got to play Chara Seidenberg and Bergeron. I I. I'm hopeful I don't know this I hope you are -- younger can play tonight. He missed the game in Washington yesterday because of the flu they were hopeful that he'd be OK to play tonight that would certainly help that they can get him back for tonight's game. How they play it's almost more important to meet in the final result that's the way Peterson was looking at last night's game how they played not how they ended up. But we'll see what happens get calls that you guys Eric is out man burst Europe first on Sports Radio sports on. Hey guys I -- Eric Eric. I'm -- talk about the draft drew quick but don't wanna kind of switched things up. And I think the patriots did pretty well pocketed your your -- don't worry thank you on the night and actually big -- to go. And I'm wondering I just wanna get your -- spots aren't. The niners strapping Lattimore late yesterday. Well everybody always talks about all -- what -- steal because they got this guy like if he can play. If he's a legitimate you know NFL player than it does matter if you got him in the first of the seventh round. Immunity if he's a player he's a player it it it. And it's like the -- picked -- that rob was talking about. I mean we watch this guy he played college football only if I don't my god he's a wrecking ball that no one can ever stop and he's the greatest college running back. And then he just keeps falling falling and falling. You know it carriers would need to Dale's point if you look at me anti tail and you do it shows I'm not gonna watch the national championship game. And I understood judgment -- tail off everything that I've heard about him up until that game. They USA what a great player you have to draft them but then you watch him against Alabama getting absolutely manhandled. Throughout this guy is not gonna translate so. It's more than one game were watching one thing -- but if your question the ball Lattimore it -- get a guy with a 131. -- Overall. It in with that type of upside with that type a team that you have with a forty nights which you I don't -- got a heck of -- yeah you don't necessarily need. Two to fill in a tonic gaps I think it's a good pick that existing Marcus Lattimore played like three times. It. That's coming -- let's see him play that often. Listen my memory of of South Carolina football this year starts begins and ends not be in demand but begins with -- he's -- against Michigan. That was one though. Single best while all players I think ESPN -- rest of the -- like 26 break and we miss him bizarrely I saw it live I. I could not believe when I -- so. I start there and then I go to Lattimore injury and then I go to Steve Spurrier -- press conference and that's about it. But awful what we know a lot of -- and we've seen an ESP ended the thing out at athletes performance with -- -- Public it. All the things he's doing it's unbelievable how these recovery conference room. But we don't know all they may never be able to take a snap Ry national foot but to me if if you -- added I was just happy that somebody drafted him and I didn't care where good for him. -- and if you got it all up you say since skillful -- for Cisco 49ers. -- good team they don't have a lot of holes to fill you have a pick with a 131. Pick overall it's your second fourth round pick why not. 6177797937. With telephone number. Rather than -- go through the hassle set an update the text machine down here reach out to us by way of Twitter app Brad -- or at dale. And and we're very happy to address your questions or comments and as far as that's concerned there for instance one of Marat Twitter followers says in your opinion at Brad -- know how much longer to the Red Sox stay with the drew experiment if it -- is keeps hitting it AAA. It's not an experiment now to experiment if they thought experiment he is your shortstop. You get on base three times yesterday it is I don't know with I know he made an error in the last inning it looked bad but. I said this again at the end of the day Stephen Drew with the major leagues is gonna end up with a better OP yes there and Jose Iglesias well. In the mile at -- right and I know that Jose places have better defense of player but Stephen Drew is good enough and what you want you don't. Hope that that Jose Iglesias. If it does poorly in my hoping that. I think what you do with you said hey you know what. He has to do what he hasn't done in the past few years in the minor leagues which -- keep progressing keep going down the right road without. The third deck in the stance that the in the biggest problem if there's no third deck in the stands he he tends to -- is on base prefer instead to go down he gets a little juice behind them. I mean in -- the crowd reaction yes I understand and making any accusations that he usually plays a little better 6177797937. -- rob here at Fenway our and our center field studios will be here until 1230. -- Sports Radio WE yeah.
