Sports on live from Fenway Park -- Stearns -- rob Bradford right back to your calls rough couple quick baseball questions for you. I'm John Lackey -- we think at. Odds back he's going to be go to rehab assignment. Believe morrow in Portland. Four innings and and if all goes well from now he could be coming back after. And basically back -- irritation to save -- fills the slot for now -- tonight with Alan Webster is an example. Of the domino effect in an opportunity ally that this is a one and Don Brown Webster they got the roster exemption because of the double either. So they don't have to make the roster move this opportunity to the line him up to make a start to get him integrated into Major League Baseball. But the guy hours the diversity about breast. A few years ago I hope it's part of a double -- Just goes to -- also got his mercy like monetary they like to do that in its certainly. L Webster the first couple outings he's had an attack have been pretty good the last one way is. The 87 strikeouts no runs in five innings. And no walks and possibly be the biggest thing went down Webster and it's been impressive. And yet he throws 9899. Yet he has unbelievable changeup. But the the concern with his command and argue one you have as a -- credit here what he -- has made a couple small adjustments with him in spring training they've gone along way thank. And nine and he's been able take -- and so there's a high expectations for Alan Webster. This is probably a good spot well for the for Jackie Bradley on Webster was going to be. -- this spring training story. He was it and it's not just the people spring training a spring training results our fans the organization. It was eye opening for them as well. And if he keeps going down this road with the kind of stuff that he allies -- it they feel like he's a legitimate one or two and rotation interest and it's really interesting considering that. You should've gotten any players back and treatment. And Hanrahan its return and when he does disease Amir I heard trials comments on this that don't you know not so quick but easy if he's healthy. And he's thrown again as the closer again does that just happen you know I think so I mean I do think so I think that he showed enough in spring training. Certainly body work before what they got him what they -- form and in what he did early on in the season. This suggests day he can be depicted in the Felix and if you look at the last couple outings without answering special last one. He was pulling and pulling everything off he's throwing the ball the same way same spot it was clearly something wrong -- -- -- great stuff that Yankee Stadium. That's the point right is that you go you have something to it to drop from this year. A couple weeks ago. This day you know what's that they would Lackey before he got her right well all of the gulf war but he was deal yet. Well I don't know about you I was in Toronto when that happened when you walked off the mound. With the arm hanging them that's right but I don't see pitchers like usually I think there was a react you know that was kind of mechanism more than anything good. Yes so yes I think that in regards to Lackey he's -- sounds like he's gonna be back soon. And and you just go from there go to rich in Braintree are next on our sports under rich area. Our thanks to take and like call. And -- -- you know reiterate I try to -- or aren't there and they -- in law Austin this week on the right about that yet. But you know what sexuality -- how lucky you. It has such a classy organization. Boston Red Sox. I mean the -- that tribute -- -- -- yesterday and what maybe eight hours at the most that they added -- As these guys Wasilla are. Automatic. And on me that it just incredible and -- I'm walked out there and you know create an -- Arkansas. It just. You couldn't keep your artistry. It was unbelievable. Yes I mean I think grab an iron full agreement review I mean. Again to that caller earlier on he said now's not the time to criticize this and that and if you read. Dan Shaughnessy book you know Francona and the Francona a year as you can surmise what you want from it but. Looking back on it and living through it at whatever level we all did. I just finished -- book about a month ago and when I commodity it is. You know the baseball. And the monster side of it the whole about it. It has to work together. And it worked together in a good way no matter what anybody wanted to say you can criticize the baseball -- side and you can say that the -- monster and feeding the monster got in the way of baseball. They made the playoffs almost every year they won two World Series they lost in game seven. Of the ALCS once I mean it worked say you know again it worked. And a baseball left. And if you want this is so so so early in the season but if you wanna look at how plan is working you know like the hoped. For the Red Sox. And this is how you drew it up how they do it up before it in war. With the aging -- Carl Crawford and those one way do and -- In the planned I don't think you all the people had a problem this time it didn't work. But if you look at what they did going into this year which is signed the veteran guys the short term deal to fill certain roles. Not necessarily we said before you don't have. These statistics are off the charts. From these guys but they're filling certain roles. They're doing what it takes to win if you can keep doing that. Then all of a sudden now you get to Jackie Bradley now you get this in -- well now you get to -- when women a little amendment to you said -- let's be honest with the criticism was from Red Sox fans that we're not talking about right now. And by any means is that when you -- short term contracts. Overpaying. Or 39 million for Shane victory in ten million for Jonny -- what was going to be 39 million member firm Mike Napoli that turned out to be five. I had two years guaranteed for Ryan Dempster right Ortiz two years -- it mean short term contracts are wanting compared to Crawford and Beckett in the -- his deal and and Gonzales but. You know again these weren't. Adrian Beltre one year Stephen Drew one year the three year commit right equipment that that lends itself to the plan. Yes you went to twelve and -- does no no no no I know I don't buy your sale I don't know if the play but the plane could blow up on them two weeks from now. That these guys because they're older they get hurt or. Or they stop producing their pitchers find a different way to pitch to them whatever it could blow up all I'm saying to this point. This is how they drew it up because. Is not guys who were gonna blow you away but guys who feel points. And voice to the they had last year it's so early -- is kind stupid even talk about it. But as we sit here right now I think that's what people wanna talk because it's it's. As we said the very beginning of the show. It's baseball and you can actually talk about baseball and mr. Obama called before the top of the outbreak running Connecticut Iran. If you don't think you don't particularly here. They're always on him. Okay I'm. Actually out. I advise you better -- and -- -- -- they put a excellent team together this year and I think the tragedy is just brought in closer. But you know special man. Everything else here. Well -- -- right not to interrupt you buy it -- said that because. I was talking to -- in the break about 2001. And -- after 9/11 happened. I remember sitting in the stands and that's September and thinking why is anyone here why would anyone wanna be here it is no one does have that team's dysfunctional team. It wasn't a place where people should go to. The beat at that time well if you remember the turn of events and Joseph Kerrigan was the manager -- came out publicly and said that's like you know what as another bomb was dropped yet no one F and wants to play here this is why. I'm Pedro was disgruntled at the time anyways -- Arctic arrogant. Main guys and everyone knew it in every -- in view of this doesn't wanna be but but to your point Ron. This is this is because partly in small part because this team is how it is right now. This is somewhere some people wanna -- yesterday was a good example. We got to take a break which are the point around quickly. OK it's my other point is is that now that you handed down there. You got tossed warmup pitch just one aren't word I'd just aren't mental status is that we have to address and eventually. You -- -- a guard. Daniel Bard. You already get to turn your radio -- -- data are real quick he's he's had two straight scoreless outings in Portland with Portland. On the latest one was to winning one he struck out one walked one -- allow it or run. In the thinking isn't reason they sent him to Portland -- -- -- pocket wise you'd have to have some success there yet again. Your stuff together and when you get on a run and you feel like you've taken the next step then you move up and then you move up again. But this isn't going to be there's a reason why Steven Wright was called up the other day indeed wanted to options on the forty man roster to do it. And Steven Wright was a choice in up markets and let's be honest when you have. The stuff of Daniel Bard people are always gonna take a shot at you when you're the Red Sox and you've had success in the Red Sox uniform. You decide internally. On a guy like that one of toothpicks. He -- he gonna stick with them and go with -- because of his stuff or you decide that you got to move on eventually in the air -- you've decided that. He get him to a point we build up this confidence you get him up to the major leagues again and the new trade him when he has some value if that's the case -- -- one of those two things don't chip gamble -- if the if the bullpen once and get. But if you didn't have options. And and all the sudden we got one Daniel Bard call out of nowhere we would be getting tons of Daniel -- calls.
