Couple of other quick notes about coaches. Sean Payton gets suspended for a year the New Orleans Saints go in the dump or partially as a result of that. And his penalty as he gets the contract for the highest paid coach in NFL history as are we doing in Louisiana and I. Roger -- -- but I am not surprised they re signed him we all thought that they would keep him by man. Well -- bargaining I guess they were afraid of Dallas -- Iran right. While maybe also you just look at sayers were were with the ears were without -- use up that might have been a music contract it would be I wanted the easiest of bush and that there are reports out of New York this week. Rex Ryan -- get fired. That he wouldn't quit and you shouldn't quit because -- money if you -- -- get fired and and the reason being here that Woody Johnson wouldn't spend the money. To move people around to get rid of Tony Sparano payoff that contract and get rid of Iran to change some things. On the offensive staff and offensive players and -- wouldn't mind if if they moved him out. -- you know believe that ball. And wants that no I'm not saying. He wants to be -- -- boot on his part the -- him. But he he went crazy about it I mean you know he got emotional team week all indignant -- -- how dare you. -- the New York Daily News which published the initial report put out a statement saying that they -- by that it was solid reporting. Com. I think where there's smoke there's fire. Now what I also think is that woody Johnson's. Organizational leaks like a -- Which if I was him might be a little concerned about because if if in fact this stuff is getting out into the media. He's got issues within his own organization. The question is if your Rex Ryan the wanna Stater tandem -- -- he will not be the general manager. It on the new general manager do what I wanna be stuck with a a lame duck head coach and -- that. I think Rex could make an argument he -- -- I think you don't lose your best you lose your best defense to put -- the best defensive players and lead early in the season. You lose one of your best offensive options relatively -- indices and Santonio Holmes -- quarterback situation to mess and beast of a shot. To get to seven -- not. And he could walk in and it's it look everything went. Into the dump this year I understand that we just had it was a perfect storm socked in and I still got this team to within a couple of games. You don't. You don't why you need to make that argument. Because this is happening in New York if this was the symptoms were 49ers was the Seattle or disclose. Dallas where our belts -- -- -- -- you as a market that doesn't do this through its team and a market that was salivating at the idea of chaos obvious to me this makes the daily news back page every day you know post page amendment -- -- inhale it first and -- exactly but here's the points seven and nine. With all the factors -- Christian as mentioned. You might consider a great coaching job -- one in which you lose your job I mean if you look at all -- -- weapons they had in the quarterback play that was so atrocious and it lost this match and he didn't hire those guys. I think that the jobs he's I think we had this become rescission and -- and put us on the jets but if you if you talk about. All these sort of formally part coach for a coach when go when you do that yet have an alternate. What's going to be better and I think I think for guys that. Rex actually motivates partial all the guys and I'm over the platform -- the platform want to be there now do they need to tighten up would be able to mention the communications the way they handle things maybe even a little tighter fisted GM comes says. That MO is changing as we just can't operate that way. But the x.'s most portion evaluate -- account the scheming style -- to pretty good with that one of the new general manager tells Woody Johnson I want my own -- while that's different situation at what point is. -- -- find it's better but you can find comparable and often times a GM will do that -- get that but what I think what an -- just play the game -- what -- the new GM wants to bring in Andy Reid. We'll probably given them well here's a look at the back of 12. Remember the cap situation the -- -- antsy and that's in net debt has to figure into the discussion there because it they'd they'd basically -- with -- They've figured -- -- -- -- gonna push roller chips in the middle table we're gonna fighter went. And we can't win it we're just gonna -- And drop. My personal situation or an atrocious caps a generation and and -- to last two years has conquered -- -- has all the other smoking years bets at the center of the commerce. -- as you say to perfect. The media in New York brutal. Bringing everything up blowing it up and everything and in investigator you Rex came in here first with. -- -- -- You had to do was to shut up. You didn't have to seat but he can't help themselves but this is -- that doing this what did you shoot oh yeah that's what gives you deny you sound and Michael full. Now he's saying that he does not want to be there anymore -- just a few years ago this team was probably. Top three top four in the AFC. Going to AFC championship they'll come mostly you're telling me you don't wanna be here now after one horrible year when the guys who had a quarterback took it to tools. -- what did you guys think of how the quarterback situation was handled here over the last two weeks in New York. Sanchez is spent selling any of us had any problem with that based on how -- -- you deserve to extend the contract was -- and a slam but that's beside the point -- -- not based -- -- mormons. Your gonna replace him at quarterback nobody has a beef with that. You bypass Tebow you go to McIlroy OK we understand. Now McIlroy gets a concussion last Sunday. You go back to Sanchez and again bypass Tebow so the question is -- there and and by the way stop with -- -- Woody Johnson brought me. Woody Johnson Denver agreement with Obama. He's unbelievable Rex Ryan brought me Rex Ryan wanted him. And now Tony Sparano through them yet but I'm saying it -- coaches wasn't the owner who said go get me Tim Tebow and move your move. And you wouldn't he would be in a situation right now. Everything that it is going to do right now is because of what he's done before. Talked and talked it was it was fine and dandy when it would you winning nobody -- any -- you know -- she had a team under control would gain. Couple years ago when everything's got to go on notice dislike of both the Israelis have controlled these team. Why don't they just keep him up close and -- at this -- coma. The quarterback situation -- them. And as an advocate -- probably get out from underneath it because of it is. You you can go and next season you could you know we can -- -- -- -- you know he's he's. A good second third string quarterback. Situation. And to diffuse but you you can't go forward with the quarterback situation being what it is now so -- you -- I -- -- For you find someone to take -- believe it's any -- and you go out there and you make a plea for. You bring quality veteran -- just it would seem preteens fourteen this year. It drafting good young quarterback and him football where there is 10 I opened this class with -- apartment. It's their not me -- energy trio there you can you can alliance and Russell Wilson made you map and ultimately was not yet you make an argument from sports and you -- go back that route. You -- go back and -- -- yeah. -- have -- -- I did exec I think last psychic what Libby need the need to bring and again I'd like a -- subject being need to bring a guy on the block a little -- who we Jeff Garcia there. Canadian -- right if it's a settlement just like their version of electing. Justice steady veteran who's not screw things there's at least one of the seven McNown will be. I think it's I mean obviously on paper that's -- All of the -- of the would do is even a solid back up it's done it needs to after three million years -- and doing. On the animal and now they -- while 34 million dollars the quarterback position. And pupils not normally what we can do that unity got you got to practice need to look we got we got beat you know great I don't know we have to -- you know entered and have a great idea I don't know. Ryan or has a great game today again there -- on the court with the in New York branch should be simple question for all it is team team ball quarterback in the National Football League next. Yes yes. Well I mean he's on some ways roster I don't think he's got to Q&A B next to a I don't like he does have a Q would be next to his name on roster if he's if he's on our roster in the NFL next year. He doesn't have a Q would be next with I think he's a roster at the back -- quarterback somewhere in policy is to we've talked about this on the shall previously that you put him in Jacksonville. Cleveland Indians hottest team in baseball, yet remain last in attendance May 19, 2013 By AJ Kaufman 6 Comments There’s a scene in Major League where Bob Uecker, portraying the radio voice of the Indians, bemoans, “In case you haven’t noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven’t, the Indians have managed to win a few here and there, and are threatening to climb out of the cellar.” Well, that was nearly 25 years ago and fictional, but today’s reality is that Cleveland has won 17 of its last 21, and currently tops the AL Central with a mark of 25-17. No one in the majors is better than the Indians in the past month (20-7). That’s great news. The bad news, however, is the Tribe somehow remain in the MLB cellar when it comes to attendance. How can this be? The fact that I wrote on this same topic almost to the day last year – when only Tampa Bay drew fewer fans than Cleveland - may be even more troubling. Though roughly 34,000 watched a walk-off win Friday night against Seattle, perfect weather and free caps weren’t enough to draw more than 36,000 Saturday and Sunday combined. What did the Indians do in those tilts? They nabbed another walk-off win on Saturday, then the Indians crushed the great Felix Hernandez Sunday behind Justin Masterson, arguably the AL’s best pitcher right now. Fun fact: The Indians have already faced eight Cy Young Award winners in 2013: Bartolo Colon, R.A. Dickey, Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Jake Peavy, David Price, Justin Verlander and Hernandez. They have won seven out those eight matchups. Simply astounding. This offseason, the much-maligned Indians front office finally made a legitimate attempt to improve the team through free agency. I’m not talking an Ubaldo Jimenez-like trade, but rather smart acquisitions that brought veterans Mike Aviles, Michael Bourn, Jason Giambi, Scott Kazmir, Brett Myers, Mark Reynolds, Drew Stubbs and Nick Swisher to Cleveland. In addition to being a fantastic place to watch a game due to great egress and ingress, with extremely affordable tickets, the best promo lineup anywhere, Jacobs Field boasts overall, cooler, less muggy summer weather than most Midwestern locales. The team also lowered beer and hot dog prices to $4 and $3 respectively. What other professional stadium in any sport offers that? I have visited 28 of the 30 current Major League Baseball stadia, and few top The Jake when all angles are considered. I say that as a baseball fan, not an Indians fan. As for the putative “economic” angle, these are the same people who spend insane amounts of money to watch terrible football every fall and show up in decent numbers for putrid basketball in the winter. Irrespective of season length, those sports charge up to 10 times the price for a ticket, and the atmosphere isn’t half as fan-friendly as baseball. I understand fans’ lack of willingness to get on board to some degree. A decent recap of Cleveland’s decade of “rebuilding” can be read here and the team suffered a horrific collapse last August. However, in addition to all the benefits of attending games at Jacobs (now Progressive) Field, fans should also realize the team has potential and often exceeds preseason aspirations at any point without warning. Cleveland hosts the rival Detroit Tigers — heavy favorites to repeat as AL Central champs — Tuesday and Wednesday nights before hitting the road. The temperature should be pleasant at first pitch each evening so you’d expect The Jake to be full to watch the best hitter on the planet right now — but don’t count on it.
