The boys discuss the inconveniences that the Steelers are faced with today due to having to fly to NJ this morning for a game at 4:25pm with the Giants. There was no power and no hotel availability for Pittsburgh, so in an unprecedented chain of events, the Steelers are traveling on game day. They also chat about how big it was of the Steelers to decline hotel rooms when the power came back in the NY/NJ area so that victims of the hurricane could take full advantage of the hotels.

NFL Sunday as presented by -- natural casing franks the official frank and sausage of the New England Patriots. But for the camp blue box that your favorite -- KM. Celebrate something. As Matt would be able to probably a firm for us NFL players are nothing if not creatures of habit. -- -- you know if if it's Sunday at one you know exactly what time you're gonna -- up what time you're gonna eat breakfast what time you're going to be in the locker -- what which -- you're gonna tape first that it it is a it is a ritual beyond most ritual there right the itinerary is on a certain sort of vote we needed papers while they put on a different. Paper and you know old days the reason I bring it up this because the Pittsburgh Steelers. Game day ritual has been -- and cocked hat here today and to their credit by the way. They're playing the giants this afternoon for port 25 game -- -- at at MetLife stadium. It is a different discussion probably for a different day about whether or not they should even be playing a football game in New Jersey. There is no mass transit there are no trains. There's no gas. I mean forget about the fact you have to drive to MetLife stadium to go see the game you don't have gas to get in the car to get there but it's a different discussion for a different day. The the hotel but the Steelers were supposed to stay -- didn't have power. Turn across the street right the the Steelers changed their game day plan they stayed at their home hotel last night. And they got on a plane wheels up about 9:15 this morning Lou. They'll have a team meal at a different hotel somewhere. And then they'll go to the stadium and play the football game now. Right now if you were playing at 425 you're probably still be in bad -- of your board. Your your -- your game day routine wouldn't really have begun yet. The ranch yeah and and now they've changed everything around now interestingly enough the hotel but the Steelers were supposed to stay in got their power back in the last. 2436 hours. Informed the Steelers of that. The Steelers said you know lot. The people who've been displaced by this storm need to hotel space more than we do. We're gonna we're gonna fly in the day of the game -- and continue with our plan here -- and I that I said to their credit. Now the question is how much will this affect them adversely. It's interesting because that's that is something that has not been done dale flight you can imagine is an area where the -- -- for summaries and are not -- If you're gonna wait to delay the start of the game because the teams not there at an important. But no I I thought I was literally pressed him just like you were a -- that was a really huge move remove -- don't have to make but. Tampa probably understand a lot out there receive them from week to week will travel while I'm stricter financial trouble along with the team and sometimes that the team will tell. Which also understand just the amount secured its sixth avenue development and big chunk of -- organization there. After shutting down problems that they have -- off from the floors that are on sabbatical maybe some wasted space Serb you know who knows maybe not the most officially door put it's. For securities camp where you have to do it's so for them to take that big stance that I. There's people with TVs rose more than us I thought that was pretty cool with Saudi ambassador you don't. Roy brought you know it's do when you when you talk but the Steelers organization need be seemed to strike me as the kind of free interest would do something like that would people recognize that we -- this is subdued of the Rooney family goes back a long ways. In. You know they have deep roots in the NFL in the team. Strikes me as the kind of team that would be mentally tough enough to do something like that -- -- to make that flight -- David you know I'm not -- flying in to face the defending Super Bowl champions is going to be easy but at the same time and it's not like you're flying in from you know Dallas exactly right -- we're -- it's like it's like an hour flight but it's you know you're you're you're looking -- I would think you would be of really difficult to adapt to -- hydration and that's something powerful players obsess over talk about that deal it's giving you a certain amount of fluids in you when you go open elevation come back down you know. Several -- picture -- put down an extra Boller threw -- dismissal pools or something like that. What the idea that the travel that happened the day -- I'm sure they've been have a contingency plan and how they're gonna dress it with nutrition in news from the flow of the guys taking and bullet. I think the biggest thing is just the mental clock that that the deal touched on because you used to be minister and places from time today. There was a game we had years ago the really bad snow game this stuff by the way happens pre season from time today. And it's no big deal borderless yeah it is glorified practices but I think. We had a game years ago. That was the snow game I think it was there with the dolphins received people -- the -- anniversary Vietnam -- equal game but we stay at a hotel in north north missed him up and -- It was team hotel and you have to drive south back on one. And brought to completely close bureau original wasn't there was just a few of snow on the right and at one point real action you have state troopers. Loss on to the other Federer won and so you know the north the north points in close banks and help us get there because the report to a spoilers you know college on the back and forth soulful for a canal because. I'm not the stadium were half hour four and I have to be there three and a half a remember that game. Walking in there also stressed out on route one -- -- -- make it -- time we got a game to play this is just I don't need this. Kind of thing. And getting and basically giving dressed in going out. And how old -- off I felt until like the second half because my clock was just not right so. There is something to be said for sort of you know screw with the guys sort of -- yeah Brady tells the story real time about that happening before the noble game. About come and an outlet and vehicle security guys to help you know -- escort -- one but just kind of of the logistics of getting in and out of there on time you talked a little bit about you know back and well whenever it was when -- came in here with the jets. -- -- -- -- from the team hotel in Providence already considered but if you're good twists and -- -- teenager removed that -- --

NESN's Barry Pederson on the Bruins dominance

Cleveland Indians hottest team in baseball, yet remain last in attendance May 19, 2013 By AJ Kaufman 6 Comments There’s a scene in Major League where Bob Uecker, portraying the radio voice of the Indians, bemoans, “In case you haven’t noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven’t, the Indians have managed to win a few here and there, and are threatening to climb out of the cellar.” Well, that was nearly 25 years ago and fictional, but today’s reality is that Cleveland has won 17 of its last 21, and currently tops the AL Central with a mark of 25-17. No one in the majors is better than the Indians in the past month (20-7). That’s great news. The bad news, however, is the Tribe somehow remain in the MLB cellar when it comes to attendance. How can this be? The fact that I wrote on this same topic almost to the day last year – when only Tampa Bay drew fewer fans than Cleveland - may be even more troubling. Though roughly 34,000 watched a walk-off win Friday night against Seattle, perfect weather and free caps weren’t enough to draw more than 36,000 Saturday and Sunday combined. What did the Indians do in those tilts? They nabbed another walk-off win on Saturday, then the Indians crushed the great Felix Hernandez Sunday behind Justin Masterson, arguably the AL’s best pitcher right now. Fun fact: The Indians have already faced eight Cy Young Award winners in 2013: Bartolo Colon, R.A. Dickey, Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Jake Peavy, David Price, Justin Verlander and Hernandez. They have won seven out those eight matchups. Simply astounding. This offseason, the much-maligned Indians front office finally made a legitimate attempt to improve the team through free agency. I’m not talking an Ubaldo Jimenez-like trade, but rather smart acquisitions that brought veterans Mike Aviles, Michael Bourn, Jason Giambi, Scott Kazmir, Brett Myers, Mark Reynolds, Drew Stubbs and Nick Swisher to Cleveland. In addition to being a fantastic place to watch a game due to great egress and ingress, with extremely affordable tickets, the best promo lineup anywhere, Jacobs Field boasts overall, cooler, less muggy summer weather than most Midwestern locales. The team also lowered beer and hot dog prices to $4 and $3 respectively. What other professional stadium in any sport offers that? I have visited 28 of the 30 current Major League Baseball stadia, and few top The Jake when all angles are considered. I say that as a baseball fan, not an Indians fan. As for the putative “economic” angle, these are the same people who spend insane amounts of money to watch terrible football every fall and show up in decent numbers for putrid basketball in the winter. Irrespective of season length, those sports charge up to 10 times the price for a ticket, and the atmosphere isn’t half as fan-friendly as baseball. I understand fans’ lack of willingness to get on board to some degree. A decent recap of Cleveland’s decade of “rebuilding” can be read here and the team suffered a horrific collapse last August. However, in addition to all the benefits of attending games at Jacobs (now Progressive) Field, fans should also realize the team has potential and often exceeds preseason aspirations at any point without warning. Cleveland hosts the rival Detroit Tigers — heavy favorites to repeat as AL Central champs — Tuesday and Wednesday nights before hitting the road. The temperature should be pleasant at first pitch each evening so you’d expect The Jake to be full to watch the best hitter on the planet right now — but don’t count on it.
