The finder penalized for that. You definitely about. Usually. Usually when something like that happens do you get communication. With the official to explain why he did certain things. I'm not say overall that the officials or are pretty good about explain and things. Sometimes it's. Not as timely as. Maybe we'd like to debate because they have to get the information from the other side of the field and of the guy who made the caller on the but don't -- normally. Amenable than a lot of those type of plays but north laurel and they try to eventually explain to you what happened Wednesday. Can get it from. On the other officials over the timer or whatever it is. What's your game with the with the regular freezer is always he speaks some conversation between coaches and referees is their communication now between. This group of players and refs and and coaches. Enough to. Made the coach is happy in -- in the league right now. I can't speak for a coaches but I would say that that. The format the senate. NFL PA came out with a statement yesterday calling for the regular officials to come back understand me that's there. There are union head you know said what he had to say on behalf of the players. -- water for coaches. If you need to say something about the officials. What normally happens. To me behind the scenes you go to. The owner and say say something do you go to Israel liaison for coaches in the league office where you can you content. And not have any kind of repercussions for saying what you truly feel about half game was appreciate. But you know there's a procedure in place where you can send any place you have questions about bill review plays -- Get back to you with an explanation of what the call was. We're mechanics where -- -- so sure and that the have you done that this year. With these guys. The incident more than normal. Well it's with the league office. You don't talk to a specific official concert. About -- -- -- worded it incorrectly about these guys have you done it in and are there more plays because just from us and the reason I'm asking us. They look like they're overmatched and overwhelmed and -- -- not concede that but that's where I'm going to the question do you feel like it is. I want it that -- from our standpoint -- stamp the the procedure is the same as it's always been if you have a question -- play. Then. You asked that question and then they get back to you with the answer of how -- play. What the rule is and how to play should've done officiated is this was the correct call or. This wasn't -- call and this is what you demand callers which happened or whatever happens -- -- so. When you send those plays into the legal less than they get back to you with an explanation of what happened on the play and could anyone play can be twenty -- is a complete. There's no set number it's in fifth question in terms of mr. -- get you you know you can get an answer. They'll answer. How you deal with this how do you prepare for. This what we think is a temporary situation. Means that a lot of hours. He has done what we try to spend as much time as we can do on our childhood and generated and do we have to do the things that we can't control them. The weather. Other things -- they're -- -- -- -- those who agreed we were info we could do. What happens during the week so when you're preparing as one player told us here today to play a certain way and gain. And and the conditions do change because of the way these guys are calling or not understanding. Of the rules or in many cases right now built the slowing down of the operation I've never seen anything where. You're looking for the spotting of a ball whether it's a first down and it took six minutes to actually do it which clearly gives the other side an opportunity. To decide whether they're gonna challenge what they whether they have to challenge whether you have to challenge. To me it just seems like. It it slows down the process and it takes you away from the rhythm. And timing of a normal game. Well again those are all things that didn't we don't have any control over we just couldn't. On our place and get a chance to run on him or defend him leadership as the fund woman to do the best that we can do we can't we we can and Leo part of it and that's on the part of the game some games are called more tightly than others in all sports we all know that so. Whatever it is and that's part of -- in game adjustments you have to adjust and weigh that against him. Me and him -- and that's his game and. Expose of players playing the game the way he thinks. It's being handled and then. It changes in the second quarter the third quarter the same play that was called in the second quarter now. Perverts and is being called the way it the first quarter of -- the inconsistency. Out there. How frustrating does that make it for -- players to do what she worked on all -- for their game plan. Well I think that if you talk to and and all our meetings -- we've always had with the NFL officials the thing that is always stresses. Two things it always stressed or communication consistency and everybody wants consistency and everybody wants communications just understand. What's gone on. Or sometimes to alert the officials for a trick play is however different formation and things like that's making me aware -- and -- they communicate with you. As things progress during the game and consistency is what world struggled for so. There's a perfect visitor from imperfect will never be perfect no but that's the ethical. And almost two coaches and even some players have the whether it's formal or informal book. On rep for reason and crews. Is that part of the issue with these guys have you there's no real. Book tendencies. Likes or dislikes these guys have that the you can discern and old. Oftentimes coach will say look these guys are prone so. Holding on the insider on the outside some guys these guys are more likely to call look. Pass interference or whatever is that part of the issue that you that there's no rule book on any of these guys right now. Well I -- I don't think from my standpoint that's ever really done a big part of that. You know at some crews called think and little closer than others but in the end the rules of the rules and you coach the players to play the techniques and and the game. Within the rules and as soon as we says some games are called tighter -- looser than others whatever happens to be -- and you try to adjust your planned style according. Did you like that consistency in that communication. Was there. Enough for you to figure out what kind of game it was going to be last night was -- there throughout. Well what you said you like consistency and communication from the officials. Did you get it last night. Enough words you could operate and you look at this is how business is being done here I note it's not like it but I. Pretty much know portico. Yeah well you know I'm not -- and a comment on the efficient and more it's not much on this here deterrent -- -- -- -- better -- Whatever the what a relief thinks about the officiating in those. They're they're great to their calls -- that's handled strictly to the officials are. -- -- The coaches we just try and understand the rules play upon. And dean he managed to gain from our from a coaching staff appointments decisions that we make as coaches and the players as sentiment. Played a game that's their to multiply it into that -- best of their own field. I'm I'll say this. The one thing that is consistent right now is this frustration on the sidelines with virtually every coach. In the leak which is which is pretty amazing to me because you -- site may be one guy doesn't like -- -- -- but it it seems that's the one thing. Seems to be extremely. Consistent here -- move on to the to the game. Big plays again given up yes standing nine plays with with twenty yards. You constantly talk about big plays -- -- -- and making those big place. Giving up those big plays -- a much of a problem was so it was there. Way -- -- wrong give molten. I mean you know via more than me they want to know -- -- we've got to do better job. Of creating those players are solvable and defend them on the the neo soul so sooners. I was in the deal ratios look for. Is -- some of that individual player or is it. A group. Failure -- is it to. You know. Who's the secondary to the largest linebackers is there any one thing you can point to this that's precipitated some of their facilities from the big plays us like. -- say it's really probably a combination of things and that wasn't all one play one player one defense. This combination of things so -- we can come only need to coach better. We need. Call the game -- -- some of the calls can be better some of the coaching could be better some of the plane could be better some of them. The techniques that we play with. Could be better so what I think we all just have to do a better job -- Make sure that were. -- and it just do the -- of -- period some of the coverages and disguises and things like leave the quarter two making decisions that are. Less favorable votes this week is. Make little tougher on them to know exactly what we're and so -- -- Paula it's part of activity. 2030 yards away from the play particularly affect the play by a -- in the quarterback to to go there. I'm not not discussed in coverage in other type of thing I'm saying that's hopeful reason for the platelet. You know we could do things collectively. A little better against them that's coaching some months. And assignments and that's technique that's common action thanks -- experience. Sure experience communication plan -- absolutely and I think all those things are part of and hopefully those single. Will improve and get better work on. You run and a couple of guys here. Lately one we know very well Deion Branch opponents are telling -- slow. What what was the thinking of bringing both those guys. And having a -- for yesterday's. I don't know if eloquent a little bit more depth -- In the in the passing game and so I think both those players. Good history in and production. Either here or tells consistently so. After you need to stop forced to ensure you get the ball back. Obviously you wanna run the clock god is like score would you wanna be able to move the ball down the field. Baltimore started really coming match especially web -- the off the edge. Why was that so successful with Baltimore why would they wouldn't put so much pressure on -- there. Well they had done that the old and a Olsen. Those thing. Knew at that particular point the game and they they mixed and throughout the game he probably can't separate times. Sporadically but consistently with just some -- -- regular force so. And in the bottom line is we just in -- handled. You know Aniston handle those situations as wells because you know we -- Like he says controllable there on all fronts were -- more common. A better job on the we could play better defense. And -- a planetary community so we just didn't do enough of any of those things that. And last 56 minutes of the game that we need it. You know Vince was and here are saying that you know there are multiple opportunities -- to walk away with a victory I think we all saw that if you had to. Just say what what frustrates you more isn't that. That you know the game was you know nine point lead with seven I have to honestly to go Africa's fourth quarter quick victory was in him. Or was it just the way the game was -- from an officiating standpoint what. In -- what what. How does not cause it's Florida or Clark. And I think it is collectively we it would this'll have to do -- job. Coaches players. Everything all three units. Running game passing game there's any room for improvement although it around. And in a close game like or closed in the week before answers on it would have taken much just taken a little bit better than. What we did -- couple plays away from in three announce that wanted so. -- -- It's punitive. Coach you've you've mentioned that before vote. Coaching better and and at the -- -- a deal which talk about what specifically. Would you mean in terms of coaching better in the situation like this. Well just make sure that. Everybody has a little better more thorough understanding of what we wanna try to do what we're trying to defend. How to how to defend how to play -- What situation -- football with what things to be alert for them. -- emphasize those more teachers better. Salute players more. Proactive instead of reactive -- It's things like that you know maybe change some of our calls or techniques and things that would. Based on -- we've had trouble us. To do a little differently so we don't have those repeat again and you know see if they can. Heard somewhere else rather than an area that we've already done. And I heard it. There is there's still room for it at this level for some of the fundamentals of both coaching -- to some of the basic. Football places are still. Journalist who's on the basis that always comes on the footwork hand placement leverage and technique. All sure I think every play tennis. Multiple multiple opportunities. Of and when it's done well. Mostly to successful plays and the x.s and those take you so far that they it'll take you pass the fundamental you have to be fundamentally sound. Takes you to play in. No matter how you X and -- and if that's not. It's not done phenomenally well probably his chances of have been very good -- are good or very often aren't very good. Sort of -- you felt better it was a bizarre day. All around in the NFL yesterday some incredible finish as we were talking about one of before you came in Detroit. Tennessee game in overtime. Jim Schwartz who you work with in Cleveland goes forward on fourth and inches didn't make it -- a pretty gutsy call. Can you can you think of a situation where. If it is there is your call. Like that that you made your career when you say that is definitely. Most controversial and toughest call I've ever made. Of them and that's I just can't imagine. You can tied up easily with the field goal he decided to go for the way. Well. It's different. It's in Apple's. One and well. I would say that's a good example. There. A few did little and we talk to us postal vote for you know clutch putts I would say that if qualifiers actually got it. Did get a before Bluetooth. Yeah well as those officials again we broke it -- we do we Google map from a broken down with with scientific and then go also to. -- -- Mathematical equation we broke but it's probably. Our fourth year head and you're not asking to speak for shorts or anybody else does probably not going -- your head at that time. This is a controversial call we don't get this this is going to be you just say this is the right. Things for our well I think -- you know we make that call all the that the game's on the line but I'm in the game's on the line. Really with with any call on that situation. If you give the ball often and they get it done. Then -- possession Wimbledon that he conduct and that doesn't work out that well it's fourth and perhaps your inches or whatever is on -- -- know. And so while we can make a couple of inches and we really deserve when the game anyway so should I feel defeated however if it doesn't work out. You'll always second guess yourself advocates is the nature of the beast that does work out then. And feel so comfortable although sometimes it works on you still feel like you made it wasn't the right decision but it worked out so okay sometimes you. If you look back on -- well. Done differently but -- -- on those workout you always think about what you should do it differently for. You got to take the information he had at that time and make good decisions the -- you don't have to -- written dissent -- -- What you have which have done it differently. What's important to. In Indianapolis can -- I thought that was our best chance to win. You've told us this and numerous times there are no unwritten rules and football. And a lot of people are quite upset that Greg -- continues to. Try to have his troops if the game is within. The opportunity for them to win. You take of victory -- and he's gonna send his guys after that quarterback to try to get the ball free. That's fair game. That's a sixty minute game. -- to say listen we always tell our players is that that we should expect. Our opponents to play in their best football and play hard for sixty minutes so. And we step on the field we we expect our opponents to play her for sentiments. -- also score situation. There's no mean. Is this how baseball is -- god going to be I do it okay looks keep each other opium the only games over north to comedian. There's no real understanding there's only game still has been in doubt it's been 66 or seven points or. And if the Nancy we you know we had that instance the -- it's a minister quarterback fumbles the snap then -- don't know if that's your chance to get the ball movement. He gonna say okay let's. They fumbled we don't care -- -- we're gonna -- or concede the game and at what point do you concede again. A minute thirty seconds twenty seconds fifteen seconds. Right on you tell me when when when is it okay to keep playing and not want to keep plan when you Campos which. Win when you actually can't possibly win but you know mathematically weighted down by three touchdowns and -- -- rumble -- and that's one thing here. But on again all I can do -- -- a just instructor players to play hard for sixty minutes then. I think in a situation like that it's to -- no different than a field goal team protect from the field goal kicker when the quarterback takes an either.
