Well according to all the Canadian website send your local papers are reporting it as a done deal as well. -- Julian will be the new coach of the Boston Bruins although I have been assured there will be no announcement press conference. Today but I -- Totally completely befuddled by what happened in New Jersey at the end of the regular season little Amarillo firing Julian with three games left in the regular season. Whenever I have questions about what's going on in hockey in the metropolitan New York area this is -- right turn my old friend Stan fischler the maven is on the line hello --

Always a pleasure talking with it I -- I'm doing very well have been very excited about a lot of things in the hockey realm -- is that these. Canadian association. Dinner last night honoring -- say veteran over. That kind of great hockey people there including Harry sinden that wonderful chat with Harry. And Jim Schoenfeld and just that whole bunch of good people in and of course who have a -- was two people who are not -- Mike Milbury in court threw him.

And by the way stand that Tom Caron as a filling in beside me today as well -- than -- I'll let stand let's go back to what happened early April 3 games left in the regular season when Lola Amarillo for the second time in his career fired a coach who had a great record and went behind the bench himself. What exactly happened with the doubles in -- Julian.

The first couple it worked very closely with Roy all season we get a pre game show the coach is audit together never never ever have but I met pathetic guy in every way shape for what that's now what and -- the club over achieve and my estimation club did better. And I believe it should've done puts a lot of that had to do with my. So yeah -- and the the other thing was and on the negative side. Sometime around February I got a signal from somebody the inside that there was a problem. Between some players some players and -- and they were not happy with him. And IA -- that out of my mind because I like the guys so much in place you know you don't like it here. Stray room is but I believe that it was some substance to what my feeling is that what happened was. That a couple of guys in the room -- not like the way -- like his style well. Coaching and they created a problem and for better or worse whoever although I was aware of the problem and he felt that at the point. That says that there -- were about to leap into the play he did not want to gamble. With this -- going out in the first round doesn't mean it was the right decision you're asking me what was behind that I feel that. -- felt. That course did not have full control of that team the way you wanted.

Stand it seems to me there's only one player who would have. The kind of -- you describe and that's the goaltender Martin Brodeur.

No well he would have the clout as you put it but he was not. -- player in question of the -- plays question as far as I can determine and I am not going to name names because it's still sort of cloudy but there -- couple of forwards who we're not happy with the way use handling team and it was interesting because. That there -- succeeded that defensive style. Yet there were guys who are offensive end and -- in. Emphasize and these defenses style and obviously. It worked when you look at the record they were way over 500 and they finished first place. So it was big it was a total -- that is one of the strangest episode ever experienced than hockey. Only topped this week when John -- who took his team to beat his team went to the finals and he got Kent. So well a lot of things that happen in this game of very irrational inexplicable in. yes but you know what I'd rather talk about the Bruins in Julian and what this guy is going to do for the team and I think that there. But I felt the Bruins need it is very dogmatic yeah real catalyst. Talked with these plays he's going to be the -- nice I suspect. That level row Lou lamoriello felt that in when all was said and done. Is that -- was not had that rein them in an out.

Which sounds like some of the criticism the Bruins had their coach Dave Lewis how big gamble -- it's -- surprise is that that they're going a -- Julian direction rather than Mike Milbury.

I read Kevin DuPont column in Sunday's globe which was a promotion no -- for the job and I agreed with Kevin and I thought no Corey. We get the job based mine now -- what I felt. The Bruins needed you have to understand that Peter surely as a history with -- he knows this guy. And it would have been maybe -- dangerous. Political move for them to bring in my book where -- as a GM sitting in the wings. Who would then move into it is job this things didn't work out. I don't know roaring I don't know which Jacobs passes passing as sin and now they've Hewitt but again. Some of course since then. The guy that I would like coaching the team. Is a guy who has of course -- background comes from the area and that is exciting. But you know what if you win games fans -- covered maybe have they said court terrific -- get. It's a question out of these players respond them and what kind of plays -- it gives.

Stan I want to talk style here for a moment then you and I both know you don't work for -- Amarillo unless you're willing to coach a defensive first. Neutral zone trap call which you want. Kind of game. Is there any indication in your conversations with -- Julian. That he chased a little bit at that style or does he embraced that style which lets be honest night in night out is not a lot of fun to watch

Claude Julien the -- It was after lengthy conversations with Lou. Course Julian knew exactly what was expected of them into the history of the team he knew the kind of game. That he would ask who coach where. He knew that Martin Brodeur was going to be the make a great guy and body was going to play -- just returning games well this was up front there was no -- secret about it. And could accepted that and of course did a very effective job. Very effective job of repeat that very effective job coaching the team because they want. Now that doesn't mean when it got to the playoffs that they would win. And it was kinda sad the way the team went out the second round because different circumstances but. Close -- good job with that hockey club and I think he's going to good good good job with the brought. But the question is going to be. What kind of style he employees whether he's going to crack down on these guys I know that there was a certain. Just streak in him and I know that there were times when he it. Cracked down on that that was but as I said there was maybe one bad Apple maybe -- possibly two in the room. And that I don't know that they're going to be in the room next season but they. Undermined in my estimation.

So when you look at the Boston Bruins and it would close Julian coming in here how much of the difference. Can a coach make on this team right now and how much of the difference is going to have to be made when free agency.

Well they're going to certainly at play as we've seen already to Philadelphia flyers. -- loading up any team that did not have a satisfactory season. Is going to be trying to load up and not to mention it seems like the devils who and arranges it's a question of -- they get spending last year they weren't big -- Do you know Kara I thought he would do better than he did as I'm sure a lot of the Bruins fans did. But the feeling was that Dave Lewis. Who I go back to Ireland that there is -- them my favorite people. Dave Lewis is basically an assistant coach he's more suited to being an assistant coach and head coach accord Julian is the head coach and you know -- couldn't get no -- I'm tickled that he got the job.

Odd that and that was and one of the reasons I wanted to talk to it was just keep your gut feeling on that because Peter surely has already admitted that the one thing Jeremy Jacobs said to him was. This better be the right -- I mean I I don't think Peter surely will get the fire another coach a year from now and still have his job

issue we're always say history of this team doesn't make the play us this team doesn't attract. To turn this thing around and it may very well be. That the problem is more with the GM than anything else so this guy's done -- these kind of bill Bradley can you imagine. If it if the Bruins general manager taking the team to the Stanley Cup finals and he got can mean the Bruins. They'd be tickled to make the play goes but I hope --
