The opportunity to match their shooting skills against Matt his former teammates and most of local nationals Lebanese more of those details. Later on in this interview but met -- on the AT&T hotline AT&T -- LTE. Good morning television star how are you. Our and -- report great. I'm a manager Howard K Debra thank you I'm good. How is how is life after football and now the training camp is over any withdrawal symptoms Matt. Well you know it's to miss the things that I think everybody ever every football player metric to metric camaraderie in the locker room but that -- on this run into you know large mammals every. If it it. Perry shambles was there ever a moment where you you know I -- deaths that may -- -- make a little comeback lot of guys do that man. You know. I think once you had an opportunity to play in the league for for awhile and then and then you realize you don't wanna promoted is -- And how special would do that then they're gonna come to a time where it's like okay. You know I've been pretty blessed them pretty fortunate in that animal can walk away you really don't you know I've never really had that. Thought that. Could could give it another running -- -- I don't know. So is there any set of circumstances emergency or otherwise in your phone rings and it's -- check on the other alliances we need you badly. Would you consider. Well I mean yeah -- be -- we've -- -- no water to deter birds didn't run into the guy and I'm their man. At that the girl that played football well. -- what do you know a ball Brian Waters. -- -- what is he up to. You are really don't know anything on that front. And I do -- -- a great player he's you know been -- a long time and you know I think. I think this situation is pretty unique in the and then and one that. Delicate if things worked out great you know he plays that not repeat pretty content worried that as well. Did you did you know he was home sick last year that he wanted to get back to Texas. Well -- -- your whole career is gonna spend time you know going back and forth from -- historians play him and it's been with the big deal he's got. You know lot of kids -- them and you know a lot of responsibility there and -- added that it does take a lot out of you when you gotta go back and for both of. With your retirement and his absence a lot of people watch this offensive line in the pre season and said all -- -- concerns about it. No you know I never really have any concerns. When it comes to appreciate and stuff I mean you know for a -- series and then. I think you wanna go out there you wanna play well anyone have a confident. But when you don't. Metal fan now watching and this got so much so that. You know look this it's preceded in the mirror in that game plan and dial up than go through the motions of the way you'd typically wouldn't. You know obviously per regular receiving games so little when they when they get that focused. It's a whole different but I -- -- -- a whole different look and the and that's just all the stats -- Did you know -- hurt Logan Mencken was Mankins was last year -- we find out. Yesterday that he believes he toward the ACL in the first game and played all year player to play house played the Super Bowl. Where -- torn ACL. Yeah that's pretty incredible really come. -- it is. One of the toughest guys I've ever played with or you know really. For that matter deputy prime won the public guys in the league and I do remember that you know you have some soreness and you know not not unlike a lot of guys in -- battle things. Throughout the season -- the think that he played the entire season. Reported you know what that would indicate that the external hard to imagine. Well what have you played with because what we -- radius today's news -- America's toughest guy you played with. And he said he's up there button Matt -- first name out of us as moll was was Matt Light he he he says you're among the top -- never played with have you done something like that played all year with the ACL there. Well you know I wouldn't I wouldn't go that far may have had my battles and had to come back from things and you know when you're in that world and he did you if you wanna play and you put so much into it you do end up. They're not nudges me but I mean every guy and -- play and with an injury at some point their career and -- had a long career in the obviously a -- with Tommy and get this same thing about him I mean they're the guys that battled through a lot of previous injuries don't know really talked about them. You know bound up each and every week but yeah I mean if you deploy a long enough to leave you're you're that we got to play with -- and I play with a number of different issues here in -- but hum. You know for the game. Use that matters probably one of the toughest guys in the league at what. Odds are that -- is Logan as -- -- guys in the league. What are the hallmarks of toughness other than playing in pain and playing with injured give examples of you looked over and saw makers do something in the game itself got up off the charts. Yeah a lot of effort to -- this comes. With your ability don't go out there and perform weekend we celebrated then and especially -- the court but the guys up front. You have to have that level up most of them. It if your goal you can you can whether -- on the -- and all that the bottom that you know this how are we. Great players offer you know we get a rest for a series here and there you are below dial up you know each and every -- you can every series of each and every week. And so the puck -- come to your ability to go in and you know didn't -- -- the training room and and broker role players you need to go through to digital prepared Gilbert brought thirty to recommit our need to -- This may be highly inaccurate map this is an observation from a far it seems to Logan Mankins in addition to the toughness has a mean streak to him. It is that your toughness out you'll strike is somebody that has a mean streak in -- then again I'm not bashed a begins to on a Sunday afternoon. Is that about right. I mean do you think -- you don't -- have them insert the quote that begged -- and -- especially you know again the line position -- It definitely. Maybe not as mean and implement other positions on the field but a -- you wanna got to go Lidstrom and -- innocent. And afraid to your whole collection of sugar here and there. All week we talked about I'll make and sets the tone and and sets an example for young players you know he's got sold -- next on now. When you're young when you were coming up did you look at veterans and see what they did see how much more campaign they played in RC work they. Had to persevere through to get out there every Sunday. REM has won the first thing you realize when your rookie come in the league it's. -- you gotta be called the play that game on in the season so much longer in the college football game and and what you came from and then you look at dozens and realized my competent and Joseph Andruzzi and they'll reward you in the have been around for awhile and especially competent I mean you've been in -- league you know I got there for my keys in -- You know you you were there to play through a lot of things didn't end and admitted that that that's got to bring your anger at all at all the dilemma as well have -- -- being mistreated. Do you wake up I mean obviously probably. Middle ankle knee pain. But do you worry about you know your head your brain. You know I don't. Again it's it's not. To say anything about the guys that don't have those issues because those are real issues in the -- very good guys struggle with them at the very. Onto that subject but. You know my mindset. You know from the very beginning once you know I understand risk and bottom bureau itself and through. But you do have to be very educated -- to. You know that aspect of the game because it is something that will. Affect certain players for the rest of their lives and you know it's some it's somebody do that reveal what. It Matt went out with whom did you have your toughest battles with over the years. You know could quote you guys early on my career Jason Taylor go down in Miami played in Turkey. I'm not be the customer yeah and -- -- accustomed to the speed of the game. When you play a guy like that very totaled more -- -- good. You know a guy like -- and Taylor was -- the oven for ten of my eleventh season -- battle with Dwight -- and it seem like you know Kurt we played them. And every week and some -- each and every year and sometimes don't quite a year. Given a playoff situations quote you have a lot of respect for. Both those -- their both tremendous news and -- and then there and what they do is exceptional. So it sounds like you're. More comparable deal with the big and strong vs the wiry and really fast is a fair to say. Yeah you know it's been killed in the -- dual core right and then the bigger stronger guys you know exit the second and third move toward the end of a blow right -- initially but I I was able to have. Typically would stay in the initial moreover both built big guys you know it's it's it's a battle them belong here on the all of that -- you -- -- broad spectrum. Do you see any of those characteristics in the young Chandler Jones. -- -- I thought a whole -- to their defense last week and he knows it was really interesting to see you know how they use some of the younger guys and and they played with a lot of speed. And I think you saw those guys fly around them and play well together upfront and Chandler. If you that your great game menus you're doing a great job -- running game and periodically factor a lot of and disastrous in two billion users and -- And beat a defender you know cleanly. -- the first movement and it at a couple instances there and I don't know great -- great city. -- -- -- would guess. -- how much longer Tom Brady can do this he's older than use older than cope when he's older than -- guys are all. Done -- open might not be but you're done happy comfortable retired -- think he's gonna do this for like 567 more years -- -- that happen and. I -- put the past and now play you. It and drive and his competitive nature. World and the way he takes care insult you know those people and themselves the walker. The eight annual -- -- it's eight annual -- lights every shootout takes place he week from today and and is probably not been injured the first seven right. -- -- We gotta we -- we mystery on their mental and reporting on that and I'm -- Is all he's been there man will be there this year and you know he's he's he shoots from the literally. Yeah he's getting a little branch I mean you know the the funny thing is is you know you'll have a lot of guys in the league anymore that are. Into the Al Gore's I think maybe in the older age get a lot more guys who worked. -- a big into the shooting sports and then arming and all those things and you put a -- -- some guys injured you'll leery but it on the walks in because the total sport almost like again but poor. You know anybody could shoot pool that -- her -- man or woman ever bigger small and and that's about it in this game it's it's -- very competitive game -- on the watch them go out because of the that they haven't. They're they're -- hand eye coordination being athletic you know really want them through your shooting well we're. Your experience so the sort -- want to go out there and the course. Eight years ago in the initial ramp up to their your first shoot out. Eight did you have to get it approved by Belichick and that he look at you like what are you -- -- the center team -- about the -- comes at their hands that was a tough sell. If there was -- -- so and then in early on in my career we try to do it in the you have pre season before achieving get started and everything got. You know exponentially more complicated so the go ahead and say build they're very vehement about -- premise of mountain. Or war or visit our government should go. About argued that long -- -- -- You Yemen it was built -- very uncomfortable situation. Well it's worked out very well over three million dollars of the light Foundation's initiative which consist of various academic scholarships and programs for at rest risk teens in Massachusetts. Rhode Island Tennessee. Lafayette Indiana and -- home state of Ohio how people get involved -- what's what's the format how does this work. You know we've felt for some of them this year I think were completely sold -- which is the great thing is the convention really taken off for sponsors the local -- what's considered -- panel for Putnam I mean all these people. The bit of -- Is David made a really special and end of the year before -- pretty simple we we go out we shoot of course I'm not. Not very. This similar to move maybe. A golf outing right summit of golf foursome we go argue if you're at the links and urban had a great time we go out and we get the word that and everybody shoots. These great targets the great presentation reform all over the place and we come back we have a great meal them -- kept corporal Gregory. Barbara horrors of it's just one day being outdoors beer and you know amongst so a lot of fun guys them and the celebrity's. The presumption that -- the -- to great format you know. So you're sold out this year bit of somebody's interested in the Matt Light foundation or getting involved in any other way just MetLife foundation dot org. Mellon foundation dot org and we do have dinner tickets still available in the big event starts off with a lot of shooting in the end in the course of all that stuff for the second half the event started about. We had dinner we got the auction we got a great fireworks displays -- to report them so. If you're you wanna come out and check out the event.
