And it is -- Saturday Sports Radio WEEI. Mustard and Johnson addition. Red Sox and yankees go out this afternoon pregame at 320 it's mustard and Johnson and hand and Arnold until then and what more can you say Larry Johnson Red Sox -- going to New York after taking two out of three the last time they were there. And on a Friday night they do what they've been doing a lot lately lose to the Yankees six to four to fall four games under 500 again. Thirteen and half back in the division six and a half. But the second wild card in the more things changes they say the more they remain the same for. Oaks and Red Sox Nation I blame the media. I think they -- medium and they distract their morale outs last night Bryant about it -- -- -- -- runs and another one and out. Let's try it again you know we should do. Take two let's see if we can put a positive spin. Let's stop being so jaded let's see if we can find that proverbial silver lining in the black cloud. I thought Dustin Pedroia is three run home run in the fourth inning. I thought that was an inspiring moment did you are -- I take a lot away from that I think they can use that three run home run in the Fort Benning. A lot to really build some momentum over the final six weeks of the season. Joining military review yes Saltalamacchia after the game he says you know with the with the team down after the game and Saltalamacchia trauma too stupid question and walked away. So instead of my response to an event now while we're disappointed we lost a game but where -- fighting. Ownership still believes that -- us and we're gonna fight to the bitter end but no they didn't do that and I think for. Larry too is -- -- the great Bill Parcells if you give a team an excuse to lose they will take it in ninth saying to. Uses excuse in terms of blaming the media error and creating all of this -- these clouds and storms of a surrounding this team right now. Is a bad. Where aid to address the issues I think responsibility needs to stop right there -- firmly part with the ownership John Henry. And then you work your way down from there. I think while it's exciting that the three owners were sitting it in and camp in Yahoo! the other night to support the team. That's the first every scene now while in the reality is that there were too many mistakes made early on. Power was not given to the right people at the time. They should have given Bobby the the power to. You know put the team together the way he wanted to in terms of his coaching staff image should've gave him giving charity and the power -- -- the manager that he wanted. So they started off on the wrong -- to begin with. And it's it was downhill from there. What they fought and it's painfully obvious now we've been certainly discussing this on this program and many programs and his radio station. They thought they could just sweep it under the rug. By getting rid of Francona. Allowing two the ought to go to Chicago. And they figured get rid of those two toxin now. We're dealing with Friday the issues that really never dealt -- -- company never dealt with who who evidently. You remember back a Christmas at Fenway and you do what we were sitting on the state Richard Arrington. Larry and Sam Kennedy and I leaned over one point says to Larry so I heard hiring a plumber. And he said the me and they know what posed like a plumber and I said flattering it has got to stop the leaks. And they count ha -- how little -- that was in the that polite laughter a popular used to that while I don't I don't care -- there was an element element of truth the air. They've had a leak probably can't play on you -- anymore I have never seen a situation. Where you have listened. Patriots have problems in a couple of fights during the practices last year we are -- for a bottle on the TV set in and breaking it. Teams have issues Aegon had a problem when he missed that meeting anyway as -- roll lately had to address that. Teams go -- problems we understand that these young. Men in the going to do stupid things sometimes the time the differences when the story reported you deal with it you know blame other people. And crank. People move on for quickly. Well you know what Jeff pass and is now learning what Bob hole or learn last year if you do your diligent reporting. And you find sources they can actually calm. Imparts the truth then of course Red Sox. Nation most likely Red Sox the -- the upper Echelon of the organization. Is gonna find a way. To dismiss those reports however truthful they may be however accurate they may be. And we heard a lot of spinning control last fall after the Bob Poehler peace and the leaks of course add to come. From the front office had to come from the ownership group about Terry Francona and his prescription drug use. Now of course. When. The ownership is being exposed as being dysfunctional. There are a lot of people out there war now concerned about the leaks coming out of Fenway Park -- That's inevitable when the -- and not a question and I know we are you don't people have an opinion about Curt Schilling have been like the guy but the reality is. When this season first the -- did it. He started ringing the bell telling people they're all like 'cause it remember when your spring training Bobby's. That is little drills and plays and he's marching around like the little general manager running a tight ship he's got these guys -- are kind of things and this is Bobby time and all but. And then Schilling starts calling in and and they have money or any stats saying you know what. All is not as it appears. A lot of these guys unhappy that don't like the guy there's a lot of backbiting going on and people are shelling got a big -- what does he know. And he set it up every time they had a money -- he kept saying it guys I'm telling -- what I'm hearing on the inside. And they kept saying well what does -- know well he turned out to be very very accurately that in the. In it happened and it's doing bad well by you know I'm I'm I'm sure every comment on the -- it up a play. You know what though of -- -- just at the status of Iraq has been listening to the big show it every day it's appointment listening -- and and the great job. Is it what you gotta catch him so if you -- so. Just set the tone for industry the comparison between two organizations so it's a hot. Afternoon a bar for Clark practices over these guys have been banged heads for like six days straight. They've got a grueling week -- about three games in ten days. Into work clarkin Belichick calls everybody to the middle of appeal and he says okay guys. You know Masco a -- -- -- editor for the outlying you're gonna punt the ball to the end zone. Mom. -- Jones long lanky defensive and get back there at the goal line if he catches the punt. Then there's no meetings -- manual or natural rights and if he doesn't -- while the problem is that -- that he was gonna just really a nice soft easy punt up there from the dollar text that's screaming out -- Now it now and -- and so he's. -- -- -- It's no it's not an easy catch it over his head like -- he's backpedaling at a herald got a great. Series of photos on it he dives and -- catch at the bar where against the face mask. Eight catches the ball everybody runs -- on the it's a great great great moment the coach at everybody's ecstatic about it. That's the difference it doesn't mean a -- to perfect it doesn't mean they don't have problems. But Belichick seems to have a way I told you what that with a video gate mess that went on where is he do we brings in money part. And rips the ballot -- new -- I mean. He has they way when you watch this threats Arctic you know it if if he could get a if they could get him away from ESPN for awhile I -- -- Kevin melodic army and air. As an assistant to the general manager Bobby Valentine. This team is so tight Craig they would know what laugh if it bit them member when Pedro used to get tied up for the taped to the post and mean any and out tortured guy last night he's either promising yankees -- a pie in the face and everything this team is so. High eight in new look at Bobby Valentine is so high eight Craig -- you can sing yet. You can't blame the media it's the atmosphere that they've created down there. I mean John Henry's a laugh a minute but I mean aside from him he's got a dry since our elected Kregg. A 162. Games it's a long. Time in Bobby Valentine is so tight to the guy that we start the beginning of -- he's on the bar -- dance of -- has a restaurant -- -- -- the rap -- all this other stuff he was so fun and jovial. He wanted to jovial items on the radio station chastised those -- -- that's where it started in itself this so. Tight -- have a serial over the air and so afraid it's us against the world. They've lost that it is continued into the clubhouse now by the radio -- glad to hear David Ortiz. Is declared he's healthy now he's pain free -- they Albany's not playing this weekend. Mean it gets so many things going on. And -- profit -- -- out following a body can only play four games in a -- economic guys out there and you know anything about it. They've created these stories in the get men and Aaron Aaron -- up -- I'm sorry you can't. You can't play that -- you kitten at the media did not sign these contracts the media did not bring in these free agents in the play is that your stock which. The media has nothing to do. We're to and I told you there's a big difference. Between the little crowd that huddles over from my pocket and we'll have Leo and sweet Caroline and we saw that -- -- Christmas that I'm way. And the people who call these show now the truth is somewhere in the middle. Either most Red Sox Nation falls at that at the drop of last week Caroline and in doing the wave. All walk is most Red Sox nations represented by what you hear in the news media and on the radio station you can understand. Where as much as Larry has been be raided by the folks in the fourth the state particularly electronic media. Also known as WEEI. You're right Larry we have gone over there all you have to do. Is either go to Red Sox game which many people have or more specifically. Go to Christmas -- and ways we have done almost ten years now. It angry about a -- how great job and what we say every single time. These guys are the quote the true cool aid drinkers. This is Jonestown on yawkey way OK let's face it. You know that's what it is and I mean go I desperately want there I remember turned your accent. This one. But I don't episodes and I like which which -- it Rio it's the invasion of the Red Sox body snatchers. And end in you know it's funny because. We truly are we I think I recognized by the the the finance ago when there as the cynical jaded media. I mean nobody talks -- anyway but did one person. In the last few years -- come up to us and say hey how you -- -- like you show these people departed elicited WEE I don't -- on operate our money -- about it don't want anything jaded they don't want anything cynical they don't want anything negative. These people truly far the Red Sox fans that Larry. And John and Tom are talking about they prefer. Of course that Red Sox Nation be comprised mostly of those kind of what he has the. Of the staff is so interesting and all of this in any intimated to widgets so you can criticize the local scribes. Are not being on more of these stories most of the controversial stories about this team this year. Have not been reported by. The globe about her role law dot com don't whatever most of them have not they've been outside is David Rosenthal they've been -- that they've been but store only with outside groups so it's not even like -- -- Larry's accusation is the media. I think for the most part the media has been pretty fair Rania and their writers and stuff they've ever done that much during a while hub. Tasks that we said I bring this up constantly Watergate never would've happened. If Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein work insiders at the Washington Post forty years ago they were a hot ambitious. Hard working outsiders needed to make a name for himself -- -- that's -- -- right. Rate analogy. Right and not in no you know reason I'm saying it is a deep throat over there in February. And instead of them looking imminently and trying to figure and I mean this is right this is Craig pressed about how to pass and know that they were having a meeting of the Al ready know they were very net meeting I know they have a lot of -- But how did -- know they were having this meeting. And by the way. If John Henry called the meeting if your boss is David Field called a meeting at the social -- the guy who plays they're ready should be here. It's optional to you whether you show up and I don't get that. Like Ortiz I take it wasn't there a lot of that's what we're only seventeen players showed up in the manager wasn't there. Isn't it strange to you specifically owner calls by beating and you don't feel like going. Okay but the thing that amazes me is after all these months which began in September. Exploded in October has been resume these last several months of 2012 season. Do they really think we're that stupid do we really did they really think we. All are just deciding whether we want the line where the raspberry Kool -- here and seriously want the impact there -- a so you'll -- more than our other great -- -- -- in sports -- fox sports and he just says you know what the general consensus from baseball is they had a chance to pull the plug on Bobby nation of then and they didn't Larry they should have pulled the plug. The first time I ever heard the guy in his radio station I know they obviously couldn't do before one game was even being managed. He's -- on mitigated disaster and again it's I'm I'm being paradoxical here. He's not the only. Problem but he symptomatic. Of the issue not you can't hire a general manager and then say I'm so are we don't like that -- -- designated. One of our -- Guided hasn't managed it almost ten years god it's probably found his niche in Japan. But it's completely out of touch with today's Major League Baseball -- to bring him and -- he's gonna bring some mortar here's the everybody know this Larry here at the problem Machiavellian strategy should be feared club. He's -- That's the problem yeah you don't want that now -- Rick Francona you can honestly say -- September but -- was -- -- the guys robbed him Tomas in an interesting piece this -- much literature about the dysfunction that is the Boston red -- -- -- it is very Shakespearean. And Bobby unfortunately is not one of the tragic Shakespearean heroes usually more of look why don't. He's more of a comic relief that everything apple it's an you know -- -- -- he's EE amuses me I can tell you that but I. And Robert scenario order Robert during the -- where the manager. Ditches -- -- -- -- around but -- you know it's -- Morey but you know it's interesting. To -- has apiece and they talked about how they actually after. The last disaster was free Lucchino -- Warner. And Henry and that was 2001 Joseph Kerrigan took over remember when categorically York however right Carl Everett went after a Jimy Williams had a firemen -- over the days Kerrigan took over. But you know in and they make a good point people like to forget about it because we remember game seven and 2003. In Yankee Stadium. Grady Little was the perfect manager he brought order back to the clubhouse because he did it. He was mild mannered he was easy going he was and drill sergeant but he had the respect any -- stored order. In a completely. Chaotic Red Sox clubhouse Bobby Valentine doesn't have that personality. He's sick he's a divider he's not a uniter they should've understood that they thought they're getting the anti Francona. They got so they got the anti 2012. Manager in Bobby Valentine Allah that -- provider because remember they have with a book on him with the media. -- -- certain some of media people that he would well he immediately divided he comes our way show and and it treats him in a kind of being funny. I don't know what he was trying to assert his territorial control to hear his last interview though he felt like he's ready up he's completely reduced it to two way. It's a pile of rubble I mean it is -- all of this point and by the way. In the piece that -- Shaughnessy. In today's globe lots of different literature obviously we're going to be. Alluding -- I'm -- as well you know he is part of that jaded cynical media. Bobby Valentine. When asked before last night's game yesterday afternoon Yankee Stadium. Was asked -- the Sox failed season was the media's fault. No said the manager the media had nothing to do with this season. You think Bobby Valentine. May be is between the finger as you know on a certain direction a dual virus are trying to keep people read between the white lines also went -- between the white lines went in between -- It's not the meet the media is not the problem -- exactly I got the problem. So outcrop. I -- stand.
