What's up guys are there great and also yeah. It is there any football in the paper today there's all lot of not to socket in the paper today. What do you think.

Yeah I mean pay it first. You know right about that anybody pace 51 million bucks to have lunch with Scott Boras is out of his mind but you know the way my eight my calculator figured it. Is that 16 point seven million for six years. Critic guy who -- all due respect to Barry Zito is probably the best pitcher on the market this year. In a year when Gil matched its 11 million a year it's probably a pretty good deal now if this had been a three year deal I would instead it's idiotic but six years. If you control this guy for six years now and I mean and and he is 80% of what they say he is you're going to have at the very least you know on number three year or at the worst number four starter. You know it it basically in his prime for the next five or six years which is great so I think in this in same period of baseball. With this insane rivalry that the -- Yankees have that it's it looks like -- all's well that ends well thanked me.

Now let's bring her back to the patriots in the NFL here for a second Peter what -- what did you think of Miami's approach. Against Tom Brady in the patriots last week.

You know it's funny I parked in Nick's favorite after game last week and one of the things are exceptional ones are you aware. The you now have played the patriots four times since you can -- you're too into against -- you about score of 75 to 69 and that you seemingly have unlocked the key. The Tom Brady because towel and -- ten and -- also say this he he isn't he's not the only one who is who is frustrated Brady at times this year. Blood clearly. He you know they have done some things the Brady that it clearly frustrated I think one of the things. This would save in Sydney's city you know Jason Taylor is such -- key to everything that we do any seventh such a great year that I mean anybody who plays doesn't doesn't account for me solve this last week and look what happened Matt -- and I mean the you know look like he was playing superman an and -- I think having the knowledge. That are on any given play into point three seconds Jason Taylor could have his arms wrapped around your shoulder have to be a little bit off putting the Brady I would thank.

Did you by any of this. Secret audio love filled videotapes that suddenly made it easier for them to know what was going on.

No because I tell -- why and I talked a couple of people about this including one person in south Florida. And look at the bottom line in this is that they're sophisticated audio equipment that right now if you watched any televised game. Okay do you get the network feed of any televised game you can hear. An awful lot of depending on what stadium -- in okay if you're in that if you're in Seattle. You know when the crowd is going crazy you know you're not giving your quarterbacks very well but for the most part of a place like Foxboro and Tom Brady is under senator. When the wind accredited being respectful when not shrieking you know which had the ability offense has the ball you're going to be able to hear Tom -- words you're gonna hear this information. You're going to hear an awful lot that if you want to try to draw conclusions from -- you're going to be able to do that now in my way of thinking I don't think -- they may have paid someone. Two amplify and and sort of short and work on what exactly Brady did at the line of scrimmage and all that blood. I think any team could do that if they so chose and I mean you know it's a lot like dale. It's a lot like scouting officials. Scouting -- quarterbacks cadence and trying to be able to get a jump off the line of scrimmage that's important. But to me it's somewhat like if you -- there's forget which crew it is but. There's one crew this year so far in the first four weeks of the year mean we're in week 14 now -- gained 14 but there's one crew to have only one roughing the passer and 12 weeks so. Guys like Bill Parcells in people who who's got officiating crews they'll tell their guys pay. You know go after quarterback hardware is you know there's other crews could recall that once or twice a game now and you gotta be a little bit more careful so I don't view this is anything revolutionary and certainly not anything illegal.

Peter as we sit here today I think most people who love football agree that. San Diego is the best team and the NFL I'm wondering what team in the AFC matches up well with the chargers and we certainly start talking about the playoffs and playoff seedings.

I think the ravens do you know the ravens can make it physically very very hard for Ladainian Tomlinson they had a big front. Mean the most underrated player right now in my opinion in the AFC's Kelly -- that nose tackle these they got a loading not a plane alongside of hum the interior line of Baltimore you know they got -- 340 pound guy cannot and -- 300 pound guy in great -- former NC AA wrestling champion it's. You know they make it they'd make it very hard for anybody to run well on them in the first place and then you got -- making linebackers behind them that helped neutralize Antonio Gates I would -- is Thomas. Had a did a great job and Antonio Gates when they played Baltimore this year I think he was some like four pitches 38 yards or something like that their first -- he didn't do very much. I -- they are the best match up because they're the most physical defense they could play them and I think -- second team that if I were. San Diego that I wouldn't want to play in the playoffs is New England. Just because in spite of all the injuries the patriots have I mean -- I don't have any insight information on this and I figure at some point probably in January Rodney Harrison going to be back. If Rodney Harrison is back all of a sudden. You know you've got that big play making safety that they are just missing right now and you'd you'd still going to be missing you know -- obviously and he was playing well blood and and who knows about Wilfork but to mean I guess I would always be a little bit hesitant about plane in the patriots in the post season no matter how many problems there haven't.

Peter if you got Gary kodiak under truths -- do you think he'd admit that maybe he made a mistake hitching his wagon to David Carr instead of. Going for Vince young when he was available.

I think he would make -- think he would have mean David -- at one touchdown pass from the last seven games. -- I was there this summer and I thought that David Carr was vastly improved it taken the coaching extremely well. Doing a really good job doing everything -- wanted to produce so I don't think. I don't think necessarily that year an -- you can shut the door should shut the door right now and David part biggest problem is going to be now that unless he plays. Decent to well the last three weeks -- having miserable offseason. And he hasn't responded well to pressure up to this point anyway. And he's going to get a lot of that this coming off season he's he in my opinion he's going to be one of those guys who in his second who is second franchise somewhere else. He's going to be pretty good NFL player I don't know that it'll be a lot better than say -- Trent Dilfer but I think he'll be better that he is now I just think some of these guys look at Joey Harrington. Some guys can't take the pressure of -- city on your shoulders some guys could mean -- any medium better when everybody was spirit have you know some guys are like that. I know being Marino really -- Jake DelHomme load that but there are some guys I think it bothers and I personally think about Eli Manning even though he shrugs it off and I think it bothers David -- a lot and I mean it's going to be -- franchise I concede their franchise right now being a lot like the Cleveland Browns. You know blowing the first couple of really big draft choices they have and how it's set back for years because I I also think the Mario Williams stick except that I draft they'll say it now I mean you know I think it's make your fourth party we -- huge offensive weapon to -- on Reggie bush and obviously now the car's not working out this year they look foolish for --

Another franchise that interest me it's nothing like the Texans much more successful. The Seahawks they -- eight and four and I thought they were fortunate to be in that position after injuries to Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander it will cost -- the cardinals of 40 -- back to back what's going on with that team.

I think what's going on is is that basically he is -- Michael sometimes a team you know that probably the truest words in football as it relates to this situation. Come from Bill Parcells that you never are the same team. In September if you -- the previous January you know you don't pick up where you left off in this game and the Seahawks for half of this season. We're playing without perhaps there's three most valuable players most valuable players from last year Steve Hutchinson lost in free agency totally key to everything they did in the run game. Shaun Alexander missed eight weeks would be broken foot and Matt Hasselbeck who missed -- is you know with the need strain. So you know they never have been able to get into the groove you know last night you know their mission pork chop Womack he's always hurt you know he can't rely on him to be -- shot Barkley -- it and now. They have not been a whole team at any point this season. So therefore you know in continually trying important gaps and plug holes but you just have not gotten anything consistent done at all and what's worry worrisome to me right now when I look at them. They're not playing anything like they played on decent a year ago he can't blame this on what school one offense remember a year ago they get these two kids. They get these two rookies to really key everything they did -- and it's you know Leroy Hill than well right now will put the pupil at linebacker. And you know they were huge impact on this team and they are one of the top ten deep fences at the end of the year last year played very well -- in the Super Bowl and you know were victimized a little bit by some strange calls. But now you look at them. And and you know you look -- mean they've given up 24 points to Alex Smith 41 in the fourth quarter and 27 points Arizona. I mean they've they've had they've they've got a bad defensive game against Green Bay at home I don't know you know they gave up 35 point eight Kansas City they they're they're just. They're just really struggling to find their identity and I think this season in hand before they can't it's going to be a pay what's going to be very strange in the NFC playoffs. You look at that you look at at at at least one of the division winners in may be too. Going to be real easy pickings in the first round of the tournament and that's going to Seattle. I mean if you're a giants right now abilities sort of trade right now watching TV that. They had that you're pitcher somehow you can sum -- Seattle instead Evan negotiated Dallas if you had to be and one of the wild cards so it's. I think it's it's it's the kind a year that I think you know from the looks of it last night I don't think Seattle's going to recover from.

You mention Bill Parcells send and the cowboys and and yet more chapters to the TO saga hero of late I'm going back to the same truths -- heating Bill Parcells would give anything if that guy wasn't in his locker room right now.

I think maybe a month ago I would've said yes but now. Located there'll be honest -- me it's December 14. You've put up with his -- it -- ridiculously 13 year old selfish crap the whole year and now you want to throw about the door. I mean you know he's still for three hours makes you better on Sunday even though he might lead the league in drops he's still have to account form is a decent. He helps Terry Glenn get open you know he helps Patrick Creighton get open. And I'm not saying they wouldn't do well without them blood you don't -- to finish right -- insight you know Parcells -- I only got one more month left with this immediate and then after that probably want to both the roster gonna be gone next year so who knows.

I don't doubt that he leads the league in dropped passes but I've never been able to find that stat who keeps it.

Steps -- put out I think it was obvious PM a week ago Eric somebody publicizing a week ago I think yet 14 which can be seen well I mean I think I've seen dropped ten.

Passes for two once Peter when asked about -- pastor how do you explain them and also how do you think Jerry Angelo. And -- Smith explained this guy I don't think they saw this coming when he draft in the.

You know we're sitting -- HBO the other day and the subject who one it -- mean Marino and Carter. And some of the guys in the staff -- and now the subject of -- has -- came up and I said you know what the amazing thing -- you look at how quick he is power wants somebody's returned he never gets talked. And I said but you know what's amazing US anybody of Miami University of Miami and they'll tell you I've seen it you guys have seen that we your own -- Roscoe Parrish is quicker than -- that you know. I don't care what the what what anybody would ever tell me as far as scouts are but any skill player out of the University of Miami I've taken on the first day of the draft. Did -- just look at these guys -- such a litany of these guys over and over again the quickness and speed you -- the field awareness as it is is just superb I think it's hard tester goes Michael I would I would just say this -- too I think fairly unique things about him one is that he has not shown any aversion to cold weather. And even support conditions because a couple of his returns have been import conditions. And and eat it doesn't seem to problem at all I think the other thing that is most interesting about them is that he has he has almost like it's Steve tasker types sappy. A K most he he almost as a changeup remember they hundred nadir near the local return against the giants where he caught the ball and just stood there. And two giants you've conceded if you look at the deal are 24 coaches state to giants just started peeling off toward their bench and he just started running. I mean he paused for I don't know a second and a and and it looked like he wasn't going to go anywhere like he was just going to down the ball in many just started running. And and I guess I'd I'd look at the guy and I guess they boy you know he's sort of a -- for all seasons basis -- the field awareness -- over -- eight year veteran and I can't be impressive.

Is Wayne -- in the process of selling the dolphins in Neifi -- what that mean for nick Saban.

You know the pro football park dot com web site had something about that yesterday -- I don't know anything about it eight E you know from check it out a little bit yesterday the dolphins vehemently denied it I think as vehemently denied it but I would just say this. I think there's always been one of those guys were would you go to league meetings the word on the street is somebody offered him a billion dollars for the dolphins he's going to take it no questions asked. Like a lot of these guys say that might team isn't for sale at any price and you never hear that I Dewayne I think now you might -- right now in his denials. Blood -- I think it's a situation that bears watching but I don't have any first hand knowledge that the team is going to be sold either now or imminently now make this point. Saban situation if the team that sold reminds me a lot of the bill belichick situation when he resigned as HT HC of the NY -- Because if you look back -- a bill belichick had no idea who was going to on this team and he knew that. A guy who we considered a bumbling idiots Steve Gutman was at least at the beginning probably going to stay -- as team president and he knew he had no chance to win under beyond this scenario the new ownership winter with a team president that we felt was Bozo the clown so I mean I could see -- thinking like that but while when I -- I -- you know -- This story get a little bit of attention this week but I -- a couple of times sort of point blank whether he was sure you're going to be around next Buehrle had any interest in Alabama an easy answer is basically I have every intention of being -- which. I bet if I look in the globe or herald with Tom o'brien took some like that week before -- yeah he's but let me just say this I think they've been going anywhere I think he -- be to go to the team next year but it's funny sometimes coaches always leave themselves a little --

I asked -- patriots question off the top my last question to you -- be a patriots question Tom Brady for him came up with the strong statement this week talking about the players and how they need to listen more to their coaches so they can win some more games. Doug Gabriel was also released earlier this week do you find the connection between Tom -- words in the relief and Doug --

See I always felt this way about Doug Gabriel I thought I was wrong. I -- Doug Gabriel was the perfect guy you know when talking of the raiders football it was important to home which is some that you always have to have -- ability guy he was going to work pretty hard I think he probably didn't work as hard as he needed to especially when he was and get the ball very much you know I don't know how well he got along with the coaches I don't ever think he had anything -- directly between him and belichick but I don't know how well he got back on you know with everybody there on the coaching staff. I think one of the problems comes in when he get a guy to come into the system. You know for the first time you'd have to be a total -- in you have to do exactly what they say. And I don't think in the end that's -- Doug Gabriel did I think the scouting report they Adam they have was not totally true you basically have to be an illegal guy -- where we go guy you gotta be like Troy brown. And he wasn't you know he's still have a little bit of an ego about but I think what Tom Brady said it was about 30% of what mark -- said the previous week. And I applaud them for saying that because. If there's one head coach in one coaching staff in the NFL that you look at right now and you tell every player on your team. Just listen to these guys and I guarantee you'll win -- this -- so anybody who is not necessarily either listening to coaching our not doing everything they should. You know to get better not working as hard as they should -- am sure Brady sees that -- would be great -- skulls are you have to do listen and we're going to be in the deep into the tournament this year regardless so poorly replace him right now.

You know ballot -- and the only deserve and get a lot of credit for what they've done here but occasionally they make moves that you have to question. They sign OJ Santiago this week hasn't played a football game in three years they signed him on Tuesday on Thursday he's on the injured list listed as questionable wondered what they thought they were going to get out this.

You know I am totally on the outside looking in on that one when I saw that in transaction place that might got OJ Santiago. I mean in order for them to have signed him he I felt like he must have been working out like being anti because I haven't seen his name -- you know like you -- two -- three years. So I don't know the the only thing I would say about that is that a lot of times when guys come in to a place like the patriots. Are pleased that one way of doing things. And they do things maybe a little bit different I mean you can be true be in for a rude awakening and team like the patriots.

real quick Jeter. What of San Francisco win the NFC west they have they have to beat the cardinals. And beat a struggling Broncos team in Seattle has to lose student they have San Diego and they have Tampa at Tampa last in the yearly that the likely that is.

I don't think it's very likely Michael because I think that Tampa bay. Is about it is easier mark if you could have right now now you know they'll play. Because he got -- cows he indoor team -- it literally playing for his life in that game gruden is gruden you know he's going to try to win that game but it's hard for me to imagine. Them losing at Tampa even with a cross country flight ball that so I don't imagine that it that it's going to happen but say this right now. I'm neutral field in Wichita I'd definitely take the 40 niners over the Seahawks right now I don't know about you guys but. I thought that Alex Smith made a couple of plays in the fourth quarter they just shocked me last night.

But a lot of happy along pass play it was statement --

It was it was fantastic. You -- ran out of pocket I mean that was that was eight pro football have to play. That was good Drew Brees that was I remember this sounds silly that was Tony role model. You know did Jason -- you know in overtime against the giants and that was a beautiful play at a play that he has not had not yet -- year and three quarters in the NFL and to me. I mean it's so funny. And it -- we just know nothing about this game that's what makes it so far and so fascinating you don't it is going to think of it this -- guys and you know I mean we are what baseball. But what happened last night. In San Francisco's sweeping the season series over Seattle is the baseball equivalent of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Beating the cardinals for the national league central this year if the baseball equivalent of the Orioles winning the American league east. And easiest -- yourself the more you think you know about this game the more you know you don't know.
