John Ryder Banco witty -- not a Tuesday night it's a Wednesday but happy is always to be joined by the great Christopher price. Of WEEI dot com fame into a news of of broadcasting fame here on the airwaves at times including right now as a guard Chris. Don't I'm Abdul well. Now thanks now you know some text his earliest people wanted to break down this Wes Welker -- so. A concentrated. Right now and in all these Celtics goings on -- the Red Sox as well all the post game shows and in around that it thank you the perfect person go to. For this is on Wes Welker the franchise tender in the other news concerning the patients negated some of the further additions like Joseph Addai Cedric. Is Christopher price so what was your reaction and what goes on now with a Welker now that he sent a franchise tender. I shocked at all I think this is not exactly a Logan Mankins got all the -- is salt from. You know the up and sublime and a couple of years ago you represented by athletes first. First and foremost you need to explain that they have a great working relationship with the patriots they -- -- and number patriots including here earning and that little Rezko. Brian Waters and number guys over the years they've always had a very good working relationship with the patriots. So would not a complete surprise that he looked likely advised by his representation to get to their side deal. -- happen to think that they are working toward an extension right now I don't know how close they are. But it played Tuesday that they are working toward an extension. I would not be surprised to see Welker. For the start a year signing a three year deal. -- roughly thirty million dollar and maybe fifteen to twenty million -- he. He's really interest being in the fact that he completely unique because if you look at his numbers erode -- that site you look at his numbers. And don't injure if you should be getting earlier to choke everybody which you'll -- that could happen. But you know you you also have to understand that -- that a thirty year old they're that 31 year old receiver who is coming off knee surgery a couple of years ago so you don't have to kind of meet little little bit EQ -- -- absolutely invaluable part of the picture properly. But he's not gonna get you know crazy -- stroke -- -- money and -- think if you're looking ideal partner with in the three years. Probably about thirty million or so we've ten to fifteen million in guaranteed money that would seem to me the most sensible -- when you look at the currently -- -- The -- to get three as well the and I I think it's the old. Well you can tell me when NFL franchises look at a guy like Wes Welker -- chicken and egg you know how much is Welker held by Brady how much does. Welker. Help allowed to Brady. Brady you know vice Versa it where if you went to another team is a slot receiver would be plenty of course most receivers would be helped up by Tom Brady Bunch. Basically where Larry FitzGerald he would probably put up those numbers even with a you know mediocre maybe even a sub -- quarterback teams might -- Yeah you know I mean well there's not I mean he you -- you've got to get 200 people in Seattle. -- hit the city your Houston or something like that you -- is that situation here and I think the patriots know that as well they'll if you would go to another place and into the include kind of knock it over with godfather style -- an entirely possible. But I don't think he would see him as well you mean where else. Because you're -- and it's just as it is ability to. It together in pretty good Brady has knowledge of the opposite is running ability -- overall discipline seems to fit certainly not a traditional -- development. It could -- in Iraq over the last over the course let yours to we kind of knew that -- deal with governor -- that's probably you know. Don't stick around him in the in the pretty much everyone came back and do the same thing also -- you know he's not completely. If you don't you got degrees in Oakland and he knows he's gonna -- eight. Pretty well executed fielded between Tucker break the bank for a dinner you'll have a larger set slot receiver over thirty but. They're gonna take care. You know we could not gonna be -- all -- as an architectural money. But he is going to be set up you could -- interpret. It just seems to me and I think all across the -- Agree with me that the debt -- Welker is here in the -- that just about how legal argument. Via. The look at the roster right now they've got twelve receivers on this roster. Currently anyway. What happens here I would think that Gaffney would be a guy that would probably on board you know Brady did like -- when he laughed and and he knows the system any also I thought it was interesting as well gets two year deal there. Lloyd. Breaking down this this restaurant many receivers do they carry and in what what do you think happens here. Lightning is going to be one interesting reading it's not going to be there at the start -- the season and you can look realistic guys. To include increasing go to media include copies stole our. You do it again then there's there's some interesting names that are going to be cut loose by that came before the start of the people out of thinking he could bring a deepening install it. I'd been thought the guy who's suffered. Struggled really mightily with the entry problems over last -- that's quite frankly he was available. Separate figures available. And so there's gonna want those veterans is going to be cut loose before the start the season of but I think the -- to revert there I think -- guys there's a couple of guys. But you -- you could assume that Welker. Probably no -- probably walker employees. You know that some sort of combination of of settlement Gonzales. Perhaps the Braves skeptical pretty good about -- -- going into this season. You don't know you've got orders and he -- who has been right more than makes up for a little while knowledge of the system. It's it is because sports. But they're going to be guys out there you know we're going to be cut loose you don't sooner rep later Lincoln. It does it matter who -- sister Marilyn but into their guys like that that you you could probably struggle it. With guys look like Ochocinco or who are into oppositional battle at -- stage of their careers certainly. Media tycoon with Chris -- and it is Tuesday by the way. That Tuesdays with Chris back for referred tonight. Chris price of course WEEI dot com on Twitter at cape leaguer and people always loved the text in questions. This one from Ed and he was wonders -- Chris Welker did a 180 as they predicted. UConn made comment on his hash tag would you think about that. You know where's winter birds gotta keep secret whatever was the elite desperately poor state police say -- -- -- he did it with a guy who. Earlier this spring. So that I mean electorate that would never awards Logan Mankins -- a situation where there was nuclear. You know we're we're gonna blow -- up -- -- and optical over the course this season but he was -- -- like only drove it about a minute yet. Attributed to that like to be different but yep yeah look he's gonna want media don't think that's a certain characters -- slipping media. You know 45 -- because there was never. You know this -- the strike. Blame was between the two sides. Of him. He always wore to be here again all the back to the fact that you don't he's a better fit your New England -- here than anywhere else. He knows that the putrid smell it I think it was all kind of -- -- -- postured in the or. Good word for posturing that now looking -- they did make some additions recently Joseph would die they Addai and and as expected they do add a veteran running back but he's had some injury issues. What -- about him going for it. I think it dies interest in pick up it'll save at all purpose let -- -- and I think that there's no bigger bailout don't faltered Villanova and but. You have to understand that falcon and I really it -- into their careers. To a lot of the same thing you know there's there's purple very dependable receivers -- the backfield when it comes to passing game. The book very good at blitz pick up -- smarts savvy veterans this doesn't mean that. It at all these New England here numbers there are our number they should say but says you can't be too optimistic about him carrying. Two running backs are so similar on the roster at the same time. Oh my I IQ and I think it is the dike could see healthy he could fit that role here doing what -- -- occupied so perpetually over the course collapsed. Dictators so our -- into the fall but I think. When you look at the situation -- that you guys who do we talked about the the about the wide receiver spot I'll fall by the way right -- -- even though the -- roster right well and restricted free agent so this future. This kind of murky at best but -- apparently do the same thing but I think you look -- right now in a axial. There's going to be an old releasing regular feature back heading into this season I think if you had to leave the number one. You're probably goes even Ridley. I really want -- teaching Marines play last year's rookie leading go central slowed by hamstring earlier in the C -- And really never found this form of being what it is going to be dealing with -- you know you're you're you know what you're getting with him. You'll probably ten to fifteen touch of the game dependable receiver out of the backfield. Of but it's going to be interesting is -- going to be really interesting sweeping shake out of the running back spot features that you're there there's really no guarantees. You look at things and there have been in the state of flux -- -- back to even bring that out bidding could still make most for the start to see you know that they're not. Whole lot -- running -- left out there but you know I don't blame -- it is so on the Mark Green -- -- you have your prediction you're going and so it's going to be interesting piece. They're running -- but she thought that we can look. They're really well the wildcard to me is one of the guys mentioned Shane Vereen it could potentially maybe fill that Kevin -- role we've seen Danny -- kind of do that as well as in the past. Wondered about him wonder and comedy. Running backs they carry out so that it was interest me and his team has been known Chris. Undrafted free agents all you have to do is look at last year's team. When it comes to pick ups whether in the middle of the season both because they had to but in the past. There's a team where -- Bill Belichick just because of status just because of you know you hear a second round -- or third round pick whereas some teams automatically well we spent the second third round pick he's -- team. Ill go at times within within undrafted -- the -- the one of the running backs they added. Undrafted Brandon -- out of Mississippi. Yes yeah I mean it did put you know you can you can look at that the company that was set up here -- that by BenJarvus Green Ellis. But he was here undrafted free agent out of baldness. Who came in here and really turned into 2000 yard rusher in you know they're they're hoping it -- and noble and -- have to courier New England you know again undrafted free agent running back an old met yet app -- wearing that any disruption it'd be very happy with the B yet. Every single year it and it really is -- you -- politically well taken and every single year. Immunity to find one or two undrafted free agents who went up making a sizable contribution to the team that was interesting to talk to. A few of them this week for rookie minicamp. -- -- Gillette Stadium in they're all well aware that in Italy and I think I would be shocked if those guys didn't know that going in that it did did that was part of the selling point to get -- to come to New England. They're very creeping me instead -- -- -- market where students to think that. You know everyone knows that -- interrupting and these are household names but it wouldn't be surprised if a ballot markets were deliberately -- You -- the credit at a Iowa. The I think you've been deactivated due to Brad Herman has been the name. -- and -- right now but output for a while readable but. Another really interesting game to what you set so certainly no doubt there are guys they're looking to -- that back into the roster you practice squad guys did you rookies didn't chemical from there and hopefully he. Important numbers to football. Yeah over the weekend and in looking at some articles and in both papers and a now forced to know some were saying you look NATO ruler in his career. Of course they do this quite a bit but you know though the Warren -- time but it guys. Because of a couple different things just didn't end up getting drafted so I could see that you can answer did would there with a with a guy that could fit into their plans. Now switching over avatar uses the Matt Light retirement. And I don't think people were surprised by that Chris but he really I think it would under the radar had a very solid season last year and and now. What does it look like for that for that offensive line. He really did in the you don't say what you will about Matt Light but for what they asked him to do you're going -- over the course into the weapon their career. To really knock it probably killed he'd get a pretty good job -- QB he's not going to be all the favor. He's not a political football thing you know he's not gonna be one of those guys you know you're gonna look on the radar screen when people -- talk about -- but I kind of thing but. He was an important part of this franchise over the course of last acute for several reasons not police the which he was part of the very often the flight over the last ten or so years he was a very important part of that up and let's elect senators and frankly he knew he was born and protected W blunt side so you can argue that you would be most important part of the very real sense of -- I -- going forward you're looking at a combination of our position. If you can they help in the middle. With respect to plaster Sebastian Vollmer won tackle spot in his -- Neitzel the rookie like ought to have very good job last year's first are going on. At that other tackle spot golden going to be your two guys going ordering only got -- veterans and younger guys on the team out of position versatility who could actually get to tackle spot. But those are huge you guys going Porter going to be the -- big book on the outside. -- wouldn't be surprised -- you Robert Gallery kind of mixing in there the veteran picked up from Seattle and Oakland in chief of emergency but again he completely on guard as well tackle so but those two guys former and holder of the tackles -- or. And still leading -- Brian Waters which big question mark right. Yeah yet you know in the event in triggered the line and in the -- I think we've actually talked but the report talked about the number of talks. I think there's still questions at this point of the -- About the interior that up until you questions about waters of the police he's coming back but even if he comes back he can't really count and for more than a year because -- what you're not a requirement in the mid thirties. In you don't you don't know when there's going to be that drop off your Pro -- Lester who resent it very good year. But you know you need to think long term debt position and getting -- -- some younger guys here that they're very excited about. You know again guys who have some delusional versatility who could clear -- go over the other side look to make -- when we saw Mankins. Over the course of the offseason we don't get surgery for roper knee injuries suffered in the Super Bowl only saw him -- Matt Light retirement. Get together at their Security Council stated he did not have a brutality for what it worked so. You know you don't want to jump to our -- but you wonder about his availability in the early part of the season so those two guard spot here -- output -- back -- -- -- -- -- -- -- have -- -- -- -- crumbling -- -- But you wanna get so they'll they'll see -- layers so -- you feel pretty good about the senate but got being Coca-Cola back to the backup all of it back up there calmly but there was -- guard spot because. He had and we've addressed the offensive line here I I would think anyway that the most interesting part corset like your take but the most interesting to me is. Which receivers make the team but the question marks -- -- type but the offensive line that that's. They've won here I don't know if it's a huge question mark but the secondary is is one of those. One of those areas in and who does what you know and is McCord is safety easier corner. Now with the additions through the draft -- Reza I Dowling fit in -- but I find that kind of fascinating what goes on there. Yeah we talked about at the back -- being a bit of a state of flux I think he can -- -- seeing my argument -- what's going on in New England secondary as well as you mentioned you know. Dismal forty year according to governor against -- -- -- while -- -- -- -- As a rookie. Great and also critical position to have a -- Iraq I Dowling was coming back who they thought enough of as a rookie to have them start in the regular seasonal orchard -- play and obviously there's an injury questions about it going forward but. He'll keep the guy who really wanna see intriguing if you -- you to seek secret to contribute to this team in 2000 well. Thought that the -- about well who is that the rookie the second round pick. Who also has some of that position versatility complete corner suites in feet. And to talk with position coach and they feel like you would be a real good editor Galina at the positions so there are some really interesting moves and yeah I've got a bat in. You guys -- -- kind of feel it around them. In hiring them. He's an interesting group -- forget -- -- you know -- the running back position in the state of flux and because it. Negative feeling to -- the second unit of moving parts there you know nothing is really there's some -- in the -- -- if you pretty good about where your with -- -- that safety spot. In the beat Gregory working into that he's spotlight all the treated -- that a vehicle. But there's some questions about you know ordering yet you don't you want or replace -- if you -- vaccines do you feel more would be. Better corner batters he'd be going forward so there are some questions. They're not -- think they're not as. He has some of the other positions but there's still some questions about personnel. As the team gets closer between Q. The and this is looking at the roster looks like it's pretty loaded up pretty filled up. Did do anything before the start of Medicare. No I don't think that they're going to be any major -- before the start that he killed by I think you're looking at there that the group of guys. You're fundamentally the core guys that you're going to be going to do training camp with in July. -- because you're starting to put stuff in an elegant you know you're injured you're starting to kind of get people up to speed -- -- starting to install and mean it's nothing to the end up at this point. We don't you wanna get these guys in the system you know especially the young guys especially the new guys you wanna get him in the system you wanna give them a sense of what we need to do -- we're being need to be we're treating it starts in July so I don't think you can tune in more -- looks like it -- electable or you know the only thing. It might happen is being -- get a position at that running back what are those new -- just throughout their. But other than that I don't see any major moves between now and training. Leslie. I said that was -- but I got a couple of text messages on this people want and your opinion about Andre Carter was going on there. You know I talked with an agent at the combine in February. And keep it very optimistic -- about in coming back in. If you're wanting to be a part of this team going forward in 2000 well. Or me the question as to how much you can contribute. You disputed his career with you guys victories led a pretty street -- injury. And there's a question right now in my mind. As to whether or not he will be able to go. By the time this season rolls around I think they're gonna wait a long time to make a decision on this and I wouldn't be surprised right now what I hear. I wouldn't be surprised to hear him. Surely this team somewhere maybe in September October. You know I don't know how much would play but I think that he is the kind of guy who would eat. Absolutely dynamite and the role of mentor for some of those young guys particularly Cilic -- -- Welcome to get -- but -- telling -- what it takes to succeed the National Football League but. You know I don't know about other eleven indeed but -- it -- that the player -- both sides agreed affection for each other both sides really wanna make it work. You wanna be able to welcome him back to this team it's just a question how much you can provide -- the end his career. Well excellent stuff Chris really appreciate it might go to guy when it comes to patriots info is -- Christopher price he should be yours as well. You check about WEEI dot com and also a lot at -- -- -- also. Working out a book with Troy Brown that's gonna once September -- Amber again it's not done right now where we're gonna go over the other big galleys and put get a pictures in great introduction and is that there -- needed it really is done right now and it's I.
