Game seven Bruins -- capitals -- -- got a 37 WEEI 730 locally Craig Laughlin. Former king capital Canadian and throttle maple -- now calls the color commentary for the capitals on CS and in Washington. Craig joins us talk about the series here today a Greg it's like a little -- Boston power you. Hey guys -- it -- I'm fired up. Game seven man cannot be fired up for game seven match I can't believe this is great I can't believe your have a -- somebody from Washington earned income. Thought we like to get another perspective -- drag it -- -- Let's get a perspective on on Europe they caught Carl -- they're telling CSN Washington that he's out to dinner after game six. Eddie was quoted as saying -- hurt people say. We deserve to be in this series we should even be in the playoffs -- there has said -- he has said it's hard to understand what people are saying that is that representative. Craig the feeling honesty and has been so many disappointments with this team in the past the people are skeptical about where they're going here game seven tonight. I think so I think when you look at the start of the series you look at all the predictions being made and you know you look around and you look at how did the Boston Bruins are from top to bottom you look at Tim Thomas to the Stanley Cup champs you look at all those type -- credentials and you say wow. You know this can be a short series -- Boston if they get going. Being the cap but now it's amazing that. How fortunes have turned and how the capitals have exit Q did your team plant. And our in this series that ballot dark it's -- draw to be honest with -- it's 5050 who's gonna win that game tonight so. I think -- that started the series that was probably the feelings from a lot of key. But I think now 33 at the -- Greg you know a double game seven -- the experience of the Bruins being through the last recently Tim Thomas home ice. We separate about pressures and what this washing capital -- go to that previous post seasons with the pressure being number one seed expecting to come out of the east. That was look at -- going that a series of different attitude this team that that same feeling today to be an advantage maybe for the capitol today. I think maybe they have a little more swagger I was -- -- some of the people this morning over at the garden and I said you know what I've followed this team down -- part of that team for thirty years you know between planet now broadcasting and. When I look at all the teams that maybe we didn't have six that and everything to go along with that. I think this team is the back pain I edit the start of the year. It was the best team from top to bottom meaning they had some star players they have role players. They had arguably started the Seton about school opening they've had a while though -- faltered because smoke comes out. Newbie got her and now they've got to rely on a young guy and -- -- But when you look at fifteen concept I don't think there's a better team as far as playing playoff hockey. That we'd seen in caps history guys yeah and this is why. They have a chance tonight -- -- Kuwaiti defense of the demons pat said it may be hot at this capitals franchise and be able to take the next. Step and that's what it's all about if you're gonna be a champion you've got to take the next step in this could be it tonight. You've been doing these games is 1990s so I asked you how different is this team today vs the one Bruce Boudreau coached that you call one of the best teams. Back in the beginning of the season here -- I think it's the fact that they've bought in to what's gonna win and play out you know so funny acumen -- this play out you know I protected. Probably boxed -- or Pittsburgh have faced off against Vancouver but while the -- Brought out the window and I thought it would be offense that prevailed in the policies and it here in the NHL. Throw that out the window and it always comes back the old adage you know defense wins championships than. I think that's why the caps have the best chance I think that. To a man. They've bought in to deal -- system. The offensive guys like salmon -- Novak and have bought in and said you know lot. -- we should look at this differently and worry about the welfare that team. And not worry so much about personal results and all of a sudden now they're on the cusp of winning. And I think they've all brought in guys and to me that's the biggest drastic difference between a Boudreau team. And watching team coached by China. -- saying that -- what's up but the rumors and washed it they'll wanna might not be -- Michael back to June while Gillette this -- ago. Well I don't think they'd let him go to be honest -- -- I think when you look at his background number one he's got a huge farm back home. He's got -- Stanley there he owns fifteen he deputies got one of the best franchises in all of candidate to be honest with you. I mean it was recently valued at over fifty million dollars per junior team which is pretty neat his Brothers running the team they run the farm together. And I think that you know what it is they have six that. Don't rule out to dale hunter will not be back. As they head coach he took this job for one reason only. I actually to -- back her tack track to reach number one. He had a great belief in George McPhee the general manager and VP. And number two he wanted to win the cup guys and he has wanted to win that he'd never had a chance as a player. And now he wants to an identical. We're talking to Greg Laughlin Comcast sports Washington color commentary -- this capitals team game seven tonight. It terror is about so batch -- -- any coach -- treated Ovechkin always been. He really treated here in this series Greg which is take your good offensive player but we need defense -- and we SAT down over. Iran you maybe look at the end of the tenure with Bruce Boudreau. I think you know at one part of the game if you remember a game late. Early on in the season where you actually benched LB when he put six guys on the expert empty netter and obese that on the bench and he rooted. And any. Turn around and actually yelled at Bruce and you could feel that that was maybe. Not going to be a relationship that would last and sure enough that happen and laid up November. That Bruce was fired so I think he'd been done in the past the one -- I hear from all vets and that different in the past. Is that yeah he's angry about not getting played at all last week I mean you look at athletes that. You know all have our plan any sport baseball bat but whatever you wanna play you wanna be in the trenches and if you're not then you should be a pro player. So he's answered that question that I wanted to be there I wanna be the guy in those situations but. On the other hand I've got to do what's best for the team and to me guide to learning process this guys the young captain and captain standards in the NHL. And I think he's learning along the way Andy's learning what's right to stay and I think he's spotted. You know the beginning of this series from her level -- hoping the players buying in on him believing in him -- a -- -- aggressive kid. Now I'm not sure bet that if there was just talked but the way he's played so far I'm sure he's got made a lot of believers down there in Washington but this. Is they win or goal home is as the game to be able we see maybe youth or inexperience that brain open. While hot -- -- and I hope not yeah. If your records -- -- all the ultimate I don't know that it can unravel when you look at it on Paper. If you'd probably have to electable and we're gonna pick in the all the time you know it's just like the old saying who you gonna pick and -- outlook probably going to be -- are cooperating big game because he's a guy that's -- the series and that the -- you've got to look at the resume. Yet that holds true but. What I did coming into the series is -- got swagger. And young players that have swagger generally succeed and even this morning. He was talking about how funny it's going to be -- he does all this sports psychology stuff guys that you know that. A lot of players should be doing what he's done it from a young age and you can just see that continent icy continent in him if I was sitting on the backs. I'd like a goaltender that com. And I think sometimes you -- Tammy sort of flailing around out there may be over committing sometimes. That sometimes makes it did -- years he's a little bit like it a look at the other side of the points and yeah it's gonna come down to goaltending and I hope Braden doesn't Alter. Writes it's a question that look if you include the goaltender is pretty simple right -- the Bruins fan -- the caps fan -- what are you want tonight to pick one thing to happen to be -- like perspective goaltenders candidates had to make it tougher. And take that out of the mix it if you could predict one things good happening one scenario happening for the capitals that doesn't include their goaltender that wouldn't. Lead them to winning this game. What do you think that is what they have to do. It jumped back on the odd turn over that we're gonna see that night and it's gonna come down and act that no matter how you break this game down. It's been so played a series. That no one -- And I and that's situation march through pop up that it'll against the islanders. And I wanted it -- bet I could stock the crowd to that defenseman Glen way. It would pit stop I can still see this in my mind Cutler and a breakaway. Extra quarter our series was over. So I think you've got to look at that being the real defining factor this game. It's going to be memorable collapse came in Washington market Suharto and missed that chance on the doorstep again Timmy Thomas was a great say absolutely. Sid -- you'll hand in nine out of ten score that goal. Absolutely. You have got to put that in and it's gonna come down to those type of plays I think tonight. Greg I think both sides could look at that rep for reason and have some questionable calls we hear and it's Stephen welcome -- for elects. Will be doing the gates and a walk -- was -- guy with though calorie game 7 Eastern Conference finals with -- Bruins beat Tampa not one penalty was called. I'm not sure you're aware of these two guys -- what they're like in your thoughts basically about how the referees have been a series. -- Like it got a -- -- in Arabic the refereeing and good all series in any series in the NHL I think that. There's not -- line -- calling it by the book. And there's a fine line at letting something scope and I think fully deserved -- slash Null by the -- -- deserve it yeah. But you've got a agreed that tied in that game. Can make those type but calls and it's got to be done both ways the problem that I have with rational reason there's been an agent I was in the eighties. Was that they communicated to me. And they talk to you as person to person and you knew right off the bat and tied the game they were gonna call. I hope it does not come down to refereeing. This series has been too darned good for the rafts -- to decide the outcome and that's what I hope for tonight. Gregg couldn't agree more it's get job this year prediction final score expectations tonight capital -- and we are a cost incurred. I'm gonna get hate mail rebuke -- I gotta run the -- myself but I want to. Greg Laughlin your guide dog Comcast and -- you'll see you you're the building tonight correct. Not added I don't odd locations but if you're looking right go to level -- tonight the guard and try to point that out Gregg is the only negative about it we'll see over their tonight it's. Greg Laughlin play in the NHL. For a lot of years met in Montreal Washington LA Toronto as great. A voice on him and he joined us on the eighteenth the hotline eight TT fourteen LP and gives -- calls up to ten times faster than three GAT and T rethink possible busy deal. A black TV is a collar guy. Right and we YouTube and -- be done the research on what we get from Craig lawful what is called again. Yeah. Ayers what is which is for a great. I like the Energy Star go I like tech guy. And LB over the buildings that you wanna get out of the caps way and be called -- game for Comcast's Washington cried laughing get a clinical update Vista just before we go to break. -- I'm just say a burger tweeting that looks like Atlanta Falcons have agreed a three year deal for sentenced him at the -- -- -- of people wanted to come here but asked we just do it that's good update. What's Obama I I don't know I'd want why is sad trombone at a what's what's Soledad under this annual. The veterans from underneath her years I think eighteen and half. -- I think when more. So what makes plays -- With that let them according Kennedy's seat allocate 50 what's that price tag three and 1818 and a half now that they Samuel. -- Bert -- pay Wes Welker. -- so Willie McGinest and stop bitching at the NFL network. 6177790850. -- Brookline all your fault full reset Bruins. Cleveland Indians hottest team in baseball, yet remain last in attendance May 19, 2013 By AJ Kaufman 6 Comments There’s a scene in Major League where Bob Uecker, portraying the radio voice of the Indians, bemoans, “In case you haven’t noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven’t, the Indians have managed to win a few here and there, and are threatening to climb out of the cellar.” Well, that was nearly 25 years ago and fictional, but today’s reality is that Cleveland has won 17 of its last 21, and currently tops the AL Central with a mark of 25-17. No one in the majors is better than the Indians in the past month (20-7). That’s great news. The bad news, however, is the Tribe somehow remain in the MLB cellar when it comes to attendance. How can this be? The fact that I wrote on this same topic almost to the day last year – when only Tampa Bay drew fewer fans than Cleveland - may be even more troubling. Though roughly 34,000 watched a walk-off win Friday night against Seattle, perfect weather and free caps weren’t enough to draw more than 36,000 Saturday and Sunday combined. What did the Indians do in those tilts? They nabbed another walk-off win on Saturday, then the Indians crushed the great Felix Hernandez Sunday behind Justin Masterson, arguably the AL’s best pitcher right now. Fun fact: The Indians have already faced eight Cy Young Award winners in 2013: Bartolo Colon, R.A. Dickey, Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Jake Peavy, David Price, Justin Verlander and Hernandez. They have won seven out those eight matchups. Simply astounding. This offseason, the much-maligned Indians front office finally made a legitimate attempt to improve the team through free agency. I’m not talking an Ubaldo Jimenez-like trade, but rather smart acquisitions that brought veterans Mike Aviles, Michael Bourn, Jason Giambi, Scott Kazmir, Brett Myers, Mark Reynolds, Drew Stubbs and Nick Swisher to Cleveland. In addition to being a fantastic place to watch a game due to great egress and ingress, with extremely affordable tickets, the best promo lineup anywhere, Jacobs Field boasts overall, cooler, less muggy summer weather than most Midwestern locales. The team also lowered beer and hot dog prices to $4 and $3 respectively. What other professional stadium in any sport offers that? I have visited 28 of the 30 current Major League Baseball stadia, and few top The Jake when all angles are considered. I say that as a baseball fan, not an Indians fan. As for the putative “economic” angle, these are the same people who spend insane amounts of money to watch terrible football every fall and show up in decent numbers for putrid basketball in the winter. Irrespective of season length, those sports charge up to 10 times the price for a ticket, and the atmosphere isn’t half as fan-friendly as baseball. I understand fans’ lack of willingness to get on board to some degree. A decent recap of Cleveland’s decade of “rebuilding” can be read here and the team suffered a horrific collapse last August. However, in addition to all the benefits of attending games at Jacobs (now Progressive) Field, fans should also realize the team has potential and often exceeds preseason aspirations at any point without warning. Cleveland hosts the rival Detroit Tigers — heavy favorites to repeat as AL Central champs — Tuesday and Wednesday nights before hitting the road. The temperature should be pleasant at first pitch each evening so you’d expect The Jake to be full to watch the best hitter on the planet right now — but don’t count on it.
