Now we've heard reports that you guys wanted Rondo to come back to Boston and not remain. On the trip now on the telecast the other night the national telecast they talked about the fact that. Perkins was having a birthday party for many wanted to stay there was that overstated. Did you guys want him to come -- -- Was that just the guys maybe taking two different scenarios and putting them together. You don't -- I honestly don't know the horse scenario there wasn't in the loop others out traveling -- elections got college games. I just heard a glimpse of that and now that was in -- could -- those court. You know for as long as actor remember daddy. I -- to see in my mind NBA players. Arguing with officials are -- doing it I remembered you doing it a lot of an adult manner that whatever you're doing it all the time. But at Jordan I mean all the great magic so -- went when Rondo throws a ball the official. You can't just say while on players don't talk like that to officials they do the use they'll throw the basketball I don't know you have a conversation with him at all or. Is that still obvious. That you just let him figure that out on his -- Oh sure sure a lot of ways it's so obvious that you shouldn't be at throwing the ball at the official. And even injuries you've had the suspension. How much of all of the of those two things play in to what we've seen here in the last week it's been fairly ugly. I that there's no denying it's been fairly ugly. Right so didn't you know I think that what has been ugly has been ostensibly you know we're just turned the ball over too much we have been able to score. You know defensively and that's certainly you don't you don't get second in the league in defense. To this stage with our record is here not competing. And that's one thing that I noticed. It was a combination of -- turnovers and then just kitchen fire. But. It could be but not necessarily you know again I think it's been a problem or not just this year or last year but he's in the year before. Because you that you didn't have and at one time with this group that's why. I am questioning is it a matter of effort or is it a matter of that personnel just can't do what they were capable of doing a few years ago. Well -- I think you wind the only time we've been a good opposite rebounding team was in the at Leo. So a lot of it is percent. And I asked you this last week -- -- ask your as we get more games and you're closer to. We get closer to game 66. Who are these cash half game right now you are year you're looking at me. Seven or eight seed and you're you're you're looking at a first round match up with -- Miami you're on the on the border of of the lottery. Is that who they are. Our day a team that. Playing to its potential should be closer to Miami and Chicago or is that a team that. You see is may may be closer to battle the pact and has fallen on some hard times who who is your team what is your team. Well you know right now we're I don't even -- -- -- -- seat. Mean that's who we are there's no denying that every teams have their challenges and in this sort of crazy season. So that's who we are right now. But two I think that we can be better yet admirable we have replaced our capabilities yet we haven't been at full strength I'm not sure who are India's. Quite honestly at this stage. So orders were waiting to see and you know we need to get to play Austin. And find out and government are really afraid of who we play in the first round. Where the second round I mean it's going to be tough no matter who we play and not desperate -- in the best teams in the league in the first. Jack I think the better question and I think the question everybody wants to know. And that is. Will you know by march 15. And will you have to do something on March 15. Maybe not necessarily to improve your chances this year -- to improve your chances with the next run here with distinct. You know it is totally depends on what opportunities -- there. We don't feel like -- have to do something just for the sake of doing it. If there's a way we can improve it won't do it. Let me ask you that that -- it this -- have you sat down in your tenure of discussing free time but it's actually working time. And actually put together because they're -- forty different ways you proved a way that I didn't think anybody thought was possible back in oh wait. To turn what was as bad a situation as you could possibly be in with a number fifth pick in the draft. Into a championship team and team McCain one quarter away from -- settle. There are a lot of different ways you can do what you got to the bottom -- -- teams do that you -- Derrick Rose yet you know you get that franchise player. If you look at this and looked at the future and come up with maybe 56. Different possible routes. In which you could approach this thing to put together the next contending team. -- -- our staff we've talked a lot about it there's you know everything that comes to -- over my -- we look at we talk we discussed. Does that fit into a a play and the world. We're looking into. You know I think that there's there is no one set formula. When we talked about this a lot you know five years ago and I mean. You'd have to be ready to. You that you have to be creative. But -- have to be discipline. And not every move is the finished product they're remove. Along the way they need to be done it is at the table for the future. And so it gets complicated and you certainly from my standpoint publicly I can't always addressed those moves in. The public exactly what is going on. It was my job to. Lead our organization. In the players that are here that might not be players that are here in the long. But that's -- that's a complicated process. A look at that looking back it at that. Then you could possibly. If the ping pong balls have gone a different way and let's say you had. Selected Kevin Durant you would've gone in a totally different direction and rebuilding a team correct. Very well and if you got Greg Oden you would have been screwed even worse. -- -- I. Ought to look at it when you when you first took the job at that point there was a seventeen year championship drought when you took it. And it wound up being a 22 year drought so it it it to -- five years to take this. I think the second round when you got here in the second round playoff team they lost New Jersey. So that's what you that's a roster that you had Antoine Walker Rodney Rogers those guys that think Rodney Rogers and a team. And and then you had to. He had to take that team. And transform it into a team that was legitimately capable of winning a championship when you look at your roster now compared to that first roster he took over. Are you farther along now than you were no three when he tried to when you had. Produce a champion is it about the same. How how would you rate it. I like our roster better than an Angel tree quite honest. -- looking back we at one. One terrific player and Paul Pierce. And electors elect a position -- better. You have more flexibility in this position now than you do -- Yes absolutely with the with the cap. Situation is much better. And with young players. I think we're a better situation. How do you avoid. Getting to the offseason not making moves having to 44 million dollars let's say. To deal with in the cap and not have legitimate big time players. To be able to pay that 24 million dollars. Well that's what I'm talking about his steps along the way. There's a lot different ways to hook up that process that we can talk for hours. And that process that they're steps along the way to get to where you wanna be.
