Michael assault on Monday -- Valentine's Day stuff with with his wife and I applaud him for that. I -- the show with Kirk Komansky had a great time -- buttons sorry there's a Freudian. In the show with Turkmen and and out when the show ended Jason -- to -- it's -- He told me after the show on Monday that they were gonna undertake some changes here at Sports Radio. -- the first was that Michael was gonna become. The permanent guest host. Not co host not guest house permanent co host of the big ship was going to be moving and afternoon drive and and working -- full time with one more way. I understood completely I think it's a brilliant move I think Michael's won the most talented people I've ever worked with. Enthusiastic energetic intelligent. Funny all those things that you want. I think it's a great parent and I think they're gonna do great things together. I understood completely why they would want to do that. The question then became. What's gonna happen with the midday -- Op I thought what they were gonna say to me was you know we're gonna pair you with acts. What they said was that they wanted to. Revise my role here it's Sports Radio. That I was not going to be doing -- going forward. That my revised role here at Sports Radio would include. Extending the weekend shift that I do during the football season extending. NFL Sunday. And in effect taking the Sunday show a year round obviously with more of a baseball -- as as we get into the upcoming season. That I would then become the the first guy off the bench so to speak via. The designated vacation fill in host I've seen that -- a lot the last couple days. Filling in here when Michaels on vacationer -- utmost undertakes vacation and other folks when their application here. And that you know. The way the vacations work here that adds up to about hundred. A hundred days a year. The only part. Of the proposal that they made to -- that was palatable at all. Was the fact that I'm gonna be doing a bit more play by play. Sean -- misses some Celtics games when he goes and does the NCAA hockey term I'll fill in for Sean. Dave O'Brien -- you guys all know. Does. Roughly 25. ESPN Wednesday games. ESPN game of the week's. He does those. He occasionally has to missed two days of Red Sox baseball because of travel commitments. So why old service the second play by play announcer along with joke -- stately on for a package of 25 to thirty. Boston Red Sox games this summer which truly is my first love anyway play by play. Com. It's the thing that I miss the most. If I look back on. The last few years here I've probably only have one regret. That is when Nelson asked me for years ago I wanted to become the full time play by play announcer for the Bruins. I fell back on my professional ethics. And said that I was one month into a new five year deal the CIA and I couldn't do that to the people who are employed me. Hindsight is always 22 funny -- now. I wish that I I had the job to check Edwards does such a great job and I don't and he does and he's great -- I'd like to do more play by play. I'm going forward if it can work out but I can do that that's my first. Love and my first my first choice. Based on what I read the newspapers out Mike men and skiing and -- loaning. Will take over the midday slot here on Sports Radio leading into the at the new big show. The drive time dream team of -- or when Michael Holley. I like both Mike man's skin -- Maloney. I think they're both professionals. I don't think the powers that be here who made the decision were right what a shock right. What -- that I that I disagree with a what a shock that I think I've probably could've helped out in the mid days here but. They have offered me -- rolled that. At least to a small degree helps mitigate the disappointment I feel. In not stepping away from doing the show game today. We went on the air September 1 1991. The morning show that first day it was Andy most rob buttery in -- handling it was a train. It wasn't supposed to be a sports show it wasn't I'm not actually sure what kind of show -- ones. And no disrespect to the dead and and he knows who was a dear friend. The first sports show on his radio station went on the air when I came after the initially -- work solo. Through the years I've had the opportunity to work with three different permanent co hosts. I worked with -- Eddie Andelman for six years. He is a legend in this business and in this medium. And will always be remembered as one of the pioneers of sports talk radio. I worked for a number of years with Bob -- As I said at the time that newly departed here I loved working with them I still love him he's still friend I would have been happy if he had elected to step. He chose to leave at that time. We undertook a search for new partner and I was lucky enough to a fallen into place with with Michael -- I've enjoyed every minute of it I think we've. We've tried to do as good -- job as we can do I don't think we ever mailed it in and I think. We were pretty go to. The people who -- on the radio station wanna give somebody else another try at a on this is their radio station I just work here. It's. The play by play portion of this is exciting form. The the loss of a more permanent talk show post here is disappointing. As I loved this part of it is well. I love talking you guys every day I love talking to Michael every day. I was still get the opportunity to talk with some of you from time to time. And down. That's it. Now as I said before who went to the break. This is not the Daschle Arnold show this is not about me. And I'd really rather not spend you know four hours doing it will always me thing because I don't feel the will always anything here. I will figure out a way. To. To continue what I do and to try to do it at the highest level like him. Like -- said the Red Sox play by play opportunity has me very excited and I can't wait to slide back into that. I I missed it when I was out of the Booth after doing a free year a couple of years ago. So that's at. Knowing it to the calls when you guys.
Well that's -- it. And you know is -- it down. I think you said that perfectly first of all and I agree with your work with you for six years. Never done radio on a full time basis before you taught me a lot learned a lot this watching you do your thing. And even before working with you dale. I listen to that -- the eight team or listen to the -- knew me show. And you've been in this business for twenty years there's talk radio sports talk radio business for twenty years. And I think the thing that and you can be proud of many things and sure you look at some of the highlights of your career and certain things stand out over others but I think it's. The thing that you should be proud of that over twenty years. You never came out of your personality you never. Where. Eaten by the machine. Know some guys get in -- sports talk radio. It felt like they have to shall from the rooftop to set it even though even though that's not what they would normally do they feel like they have to you. Say things that they would normally say. Championed causes that they don't really believe in and I'd -- like over. The course of twenty years and that the portion that I've heard. You've -- yourself. The entire time and it's. Pretty amazing and incredible. That you have on this thing since 1991. And you can say that not think a lot of people. Who have listened to you over the years would agree with me. Dale Arnold is not trying to be somebody that he's not -- heard you say her two lines a couple of times. I heard you talk about. You you feel like your limitations. As a as a player. Encourage your. Talk about a talk about your wife in how. You're lucky. To -- ever. I heard you talk about many things that you don't you don't try to be somebody that you're not and I think people really appreciate there and they can relate to. But to your point about that dale and Holley show. Both bias. I don't feel like -- failed. To it was pretty damn good. But that's just my opinion on this one guy with a.
