You know we thought the New York Rangers would raise their game in game two they did not. We thought Henrik Lundqvist would return to bells and -- form in game two he certainly did not. We assumed the three Bruins rookie defenseman couldn't play any better than they did in game one they certainly did and we thought New York's best defenseman. Dan Girardi would be a force it wasn't and in fact was on the ice for all five Bruin goals -- of my favorite factoid. It's our number three Dennis and Callahan Cris Carter. Eight time pro -- two time all -- Now the NFL analyst on ESPN's Chris Carter joins us on the AT&T hot line. On what's possible the nation's fastest mobile broadband network AT&T rethink possible good morning Chris it's John and Jerry in Boston how are yeah. Good luckily you in on our discussion this morning and we've sort of an all over the border talk about Brady versus bird has Boston sports icons. That somehow this discussion has evolved into who would be better without the other guy would double check. Do better without Brady would Brady do better without Belichick on the New England Patriots. I know slight all the gory. Mean but you're not gonna do better without felt. But. You're just not and it's not just the effect on Europe -- new. Elaine the rule rather than last week that again Chicago he brought about a dozen balls that were program runs in the bottom word -- on the deal with yeah. You know also like bad it is. There and that continuance server behind that it's an -- The brass player and a belt right now even better. Mentally what he does for breaking the -- locally built to put the game plan the player to -- the round on that one site. If it's clearly one side. Maybe this doubles the argument down and and I will agree that this is very very specific in nature. Bit -- on Sunday night a little bit after 8 o'clock Bill Belichick walked off the sideline went into his office at Gillette Stadium locked the door and sat and watched the game on television. With the patriots do better. With Brady out there without. Bill Belichick on the sidelines or -- that you don't let -- go coach and one of the locker room but Brian lawyer. What is another example of that the kingdom went undefeated they came back to -- with apple. Boo hoo -- I've civil rights who quarterback the last -- start with a high school. And look at the results of the team got. Yep just another -- pretty fair cornerback in the National Football League based on what we're seeing in in Kansas City -- -- great. Is that for your neck -- notably -- -- -- that your friend. They were a little bit that is far that the ultimate binge flow yup. I'm they've felt that he would he would schedule a lot faster but it in the lab six to eight game despite phenomenal. When you're a -- when you -- wide receiver did you think your coach. Was more important to your success than your quarterback. Well I know what -- states and I didn't believe in the National Football League the most underrated deal is absolutely -- -- pro. Get the three. Different personality -- build -- leave bill and make them let. I mean I think that's the most underrated thing in the league and I think that's what Belichick and the patriots have such -- on the all they realize. Effect -- to build and a player bite into the culture. A lot of great players in the league they don't think so they're always been thought you know -- You wear the coat well I don't I don't prescribes that there. And that the patriots have five more games to get to the suitable for them at home all of them in cold weather as you know Chris the rule on right now. Will you be surprised if they don't end up in Dallas in the Super Bowl. Absolute I'm not that but which is -- but based on the opposition that they let me based based. The opposition ever gonna see in the ANC in the divisional dying in the AFC championship. You mentioned. You know bill -- no games at all. I mean -- I haven't seen. Bad the situation besides the 2007 saying that they're in the day in Glendale where they were planned at all. And then they will plant and a facility. Where. Where the environment would control would make it pro football do whatever they wanted to do offensively. To. -- -- that scenario where the perfect scenario in the -- writer the very good. Is it unfair to say the jets are who we thought we were are and may -- even taken a step further Cris Carter and say the jets are fraudulent team that we thought was at the top of the -- yes a lot of the NFL. -- Ask anybody's -- people watching the NFL in general. It. Well until the Monday Night Football game we thought they were in control of the AFC east we thought they were the team to beat many people said they were probably. 11 or two or three of the best teams in the National Football League I don't think that anymore. Well what of course if you resolve to -- gains -- That's work that that's what we have the last 30 we're not out there appointments so you know we're trying to analyze the game and -- the game with play and then after a planet that flexible not that -- -- -- just -- -- as well. Right what if of the masters do you think Sanchez versus Brady aside separate quarterbacks aside and that's a big task to do what's the difference between the jets and the patriots at this point in the season. I think it's I think that the patriot offensively. Defensively and special thing they all have and -- -- I think they know what they -- I think they understand what they have to do to win. And go right now. France here sometime in the passing game may have no liabilities. And then also defensively they're not able to hurt a lot like with what we thought that last year so offensively I don't think. That they have site dignity and they can't play. Well per month for a -- all over the field like baseball they were revealed to do when they got the mark. Chris maybe you can helpless out every week we asked this question and we really on an answer. What what was Randy Moss thinking Randy Moss could have been a part of this is the best team in the NFL the best -- the best quarterback. He could've been a part of this all year probably gone of the Super Bowl instead he's stuck in Tennessee. What was he thinking. What little space effort needed effort he talked with -- -- relative. And and the craft scrambling and as far as what what they were what they were -- to do in the future. And they had said that they're not gonna -- look outside the -- -- within that. That ought not -- be here. So anyway you know -- was praised what he had -- important for a proper. And his circle thing after that they'll -- with. Or what -- the stuff that happened -- -- -- right there. You -- you predicted that he could be the MVP of the league if he had stayed here and on the right you think he used -- still feel that way do you think he. Have if he'd stayed here and and just run the routes inaugural done his job that'd be on his way to an MVP season. That Italy -- -- part of Italy they would have worried like. I mean I mean departed merely being not about whether -- -- -- -- -- the most valuable. Player in the NF failed so ready could have a marvelously. -- he had on what it in 2007. Although. Far right in the record because we have all the problem whereas if the morale of all the other guys that -- Monticello also. So called the middle they got -- speed guys -- but of course the problem it but it feels that. You think you'll be back next year I mean as moss done. In the NFL I mean it's gonna be tough be who we know in the ease the ease of freeagent. And if these plans for a contract he obviously is going about it the wrong way. -- bubbled back in New England who think there's any chance he's back here. I put nothing past willingly. As far as really trying to get thirteen. It's very Phil -- involved let's double murder and development and eleventh at a certain price. I'm not wouldn't be surprised at all that the one thing that New England new England and likely to get the -- out well. Like they do with all the other players compared to going somewhere else but the thing about -- is he got a lot of bad media laughter. A lot of bad behavior it is in -- you know every game. And you're left knowing. Not impressive but. It it almost seems like he realized that mistake you just talked about said. A sort of screwed myself here -- to showcase my talents and getting a big contract for next year would you be surprised to retired -- he shut it down as miners as to what. A little go -- by NASCAR truck situation. Not being right you still want to -- -- -- And well I know there were certain and I know for certain certain realized later. Did you think the patriots were going to be worse off without Randy Moss and if you did do you still think that based on. What is at 39 point two points per game since the legal loss. No I don't think they're -- worked well you to believe that -- -- about what which I would definitely. Okay the government football thing. Can they supplement sold for five plays -- game that they ran the race. They -- button. Would be able in the draft -- situation and given what -- -- can hold out. Brady's contract situation. And that you're not our fault that they were really looking forward so that more women -- You know the 2011 because that are built acquire all but the players the fact is. Those drafted into the big time receiver they can move up but the -- of the young a young. O'Donnell fat -- outfit god. If they want that so I thought that that New England really. Have all the cards com. I'm supplies that they're passing gains in the lab fix the equipment we have gotten -- -- that guy from Winnipeg Randy ball well and you start add mobile. That might dump -- on on supplies. Acres of sometime between now and the Super Bowl some defense that the patriots faces shuts down this passing game you talked about and -- Tom Brady led offense overall. How will they do it. -- -- -- Pressure on the quarterback the only way to do it what the giants did the suitable to be -- Oh not no pressure not no broken parts yup you rather light comment just like everybody else. I mean that long they're not like the -- like no quarterback like the being hit and it -- -- -- you know they can be looked to be out. And that's what you have to try to -- a big step passing game and that rippled. The you've got to put people in great basin you have to make them uncomfortable. In -- Green Bay do that. Well I don't know about Harold Rogers and are scoring output. Wrong. Coming quite -- Houston Jenny yes I mean do they have -- personnel that can present some issues. Yes. But I don't think -- cool -- this week. You as obviously you know more than we do about an NFL offenses when you watch the patriots right now. Their offense the way it's worked in the way it's -- and are you amazed are you surprised you in off. The way a lot of a lot of fans are. Well I think Francis look at the numbers say they figure that -- get the ball. Like intimacy good numbers this big guys store and I think I didn't first down. -- moment that the well was they knew that this is not necessarily conventional. On the main that the -- selflessness who among all the receivers. How they've run these Kuwait and how they drag coverage in -- the operating control of the one of their teammates and the -- and -- of -- -- and they're number one thing is. I think it's different than what was there around the leaders. The forgot what and to the left Brady's throw the ball is -- number. And you're able to pick up so me. No the papal follow Apple's bringing his vote that we're receiver caught the ball -- in its Internet traffic solely. When guys -- spoke for itself -- cold enough for the -- the greens are pure life important put that it has left only where you can -- like you're also seeing. You know a guy won the league players play in the perhaps salute them so -- -- Breaking is that they're pure forward in the NF. And the receiver that they have are great well what sorts of great combination. Now the thing that would they put their exit I know we're. All these things is the magic that we have with the with the pats right now. Chris you've been around the block a few times the national -- only how many quarterback to -- seen in your years of watching this league play as well or better than Brady's playing right now. You have to go back for more. For me pop flavor quarterback football star is Joe Joe Montana and that's -- he were growing up. If you look at Belmont down. On that -- what Robert Blake. That's when you get back like you're bringing deliver the ball inside. Where god is not your income income. I got they would -- follow right in his -- after the one in the alt they're leaning. Dictate. -- screen don't haven't gotten that. Don't want to. As say yeah matter of course and -- a little bit off topic but again you've been around the national football league for a while. Do NFL teams or do some NFL teams -- to a few NFL teams. As a matter of course lineup there assistant coaches or their inactive players on the sideline. To. Trying to shorten the width of the field for the gutter trying to cover -- Or is that just something we saw once and once only in the in the dolphins jets game. But it was it was not what was not so people do this time to time. Man you can't -- knowing -- right yes. Haven't you heard about things that they have done its part the Atlantic like what -- that. I mean it looked very competitive there. And then we'll try to do everything on lot felt some percent from a technology. From a you know people -- atmosphere and environment the conditions like in they can do. Although it won't -- it from. A little bit who took me that the rare and very typical of the things we were blinded. He's the guy you know -- a little bit. It's it's like other things that they're not typically see in the league. Chris -- final question for me in -- would be remiss of I didn't ask yet you raise some eyebrows with your recent comments about Deion Branch. Just disappearing too often verses I believe you said just regular defensive backs based on his performance based on even something as recently Chicago. 151 yards do you still think that's the case. You'll -- -- on the last but then the that the river po who -- -- that you'd like to be some months. The lab accident. But what one thing I've made over effortlessly -- in the lungs and going through and our. I was favorably or consumers not one that -- receiver. In his in the Super Bowl wouldn't let -- their injuries. The reason why and where Favre it's such a special player. They're not all the wind and everything it's not the -- now it's been consistent and went out there every week. So that the great that the between in my grade scale they're always. It's got a player going to be higher if he can be considered that they edit it can be -- Beyond biggest problem has -- bill would be no doubt that a perfect fit in free agency what happened -- -- diet but for the money. And they end up -- situation that's not conducive for the naked with a coach who wants. 78 Rijndael productivity -- guy. Who grew up so it doesn't fit the Hilton. Opel where it's saying. They needed -- and you get. You get around. You know we're in -- -- your career. Before you know. You know then -- of a very -- well in exceptional quit. So despite how. Well they'll come back to New England -- -- -- -- career but that's not the SlingPlayer. That would in Seattle in week one and Q and it's not the point where we're gonna outlast the network that player inside of your app but look. Particularly the Big Apple but baseball -- -- provided that side of explosive offense you'd think they would letting go. What do you mean when you say disappears. Against average corn to mean that in man coverage they just take him out. Now what they disappear in the game. Like during the going to watch the court -- McCain. You see it you watch the game in vehicle -- -- -- that the end of the game wouldn't that Geithner. Like video off positive impact on the game or -- people into the -- are -- upbeat. And what's what's bad video you see him Randy is that effort or you just talk and on production and an unproductive game when you say. -- -- effort and pretty yeah that's that's probably right without enough where. We watched a perennial. And and we analyzer. All what we think. And and instantly analyze and -- -- to -- baseball what is going to work I mean you have to be beside you got a 31 of seven. The big big -- career. Do you that. They haven't -- You talked to not Randy anymore christened. -- -- is he full of regret. It. I don't like compromise I don't believe that's really relevant but I know always full of regret -- Can I ask one more question because I watched you guys Monday march together as would have a night vehicle panel you Tom Jackson. He Sean did get and Berman I could not believe you all agreed. That would Tashard Joyce Joyce did in asking for vick's autograph was a okay I thought at least -- to you guys would find it inappropriate. I mean does not belong in the tunnel in the locker room I don't -- the bus on the field after the game you think that's the right time to ask for an autograph. What you're about it would have felt even. You said you have a lot of -- guys agree that you have a lot of memorabilia it's part of the deal you know and and he had no problem with. I mean what are we want to regain. There are great and a lot of times they wanted to dictate what we'd like -- artwork that. About my job. Now for being the reason why I did. The with a lot of young player that would come out and hey mister Carter. I get a glove from new -- and I thought well since the responsibility. For the lead and infant younger plate. But god will come up with a bad thing is we find some for -- now. I have a sign that the current and up blatantly. And I -- -- you're a great understanding of what they would be so I would like -- -- Click here to -- and I haven't built on ground. Help the sort that well I don't have a -- Which somewhere that didn't quite a lot against solved. Peyton Manning we're all our. Jerry -- Like they think the price and our economy and a lot city council. Of people wanna play -- were unprofessional that's the -- have a professional athlete. From -- when the whistle -- you can take off back. And to become a normal part. But in the end debate that's what we really all. And Tashard Choice was a normal person grew up idolizing Michael Vick when he played towards its Michael Vick will distort what. The -- and then sort detective in Atlanta. So it -- -- -- net you can you spot like that happened ball without. So where do you stand on the Derek Anderson's smiling on the sideline while getting his butt kicked on national T because that's still on. You're still playing at that point that the do you look at that differently Chris. I mean I don't think there's any war. Who whose fault here Anderson of light while you know that's something I think it's that I -- You know you don't know exactly what the guys that stormed. That would make him smile play -- I don't know that I really don't wanna get into it and I've been on there. Coming up on the bad side -- -- some from in big -- And it will be hard for me to try to explain emotionally. What I would think it on the sideline the whole time with a -- said something to me like. -- we were down we were down 21 enough into the diet in the NFC championship I think in 2000. War. And Randy and now that like the of the greatest comeback ever whenever -- -- about that for upper and the lower the cobalt is the now aren't sure that odd gambit got it by -- -- said that it was for it and I was sure because man in the situation where you're really really go out and we end up and 41 up the like you're saying things. And up you know I don't wanna make an excuse for prepared but I I don't know exactly what happened didn't get that reaction out. Hey before -- go -- and ask you do you do you know why do you understand why you know on the hall of famers it. As a baffling to you. -- Not I don't think about him. Now the you know like Bert Blyleven it doesn't like buggy every year when you get snubbed. Well I mean. I think guys. Three years from the first change your outlook aren't. And that last year it would make I don't know that it 889 when economic that's -- got eliminated. I've looked at the last three years the players army and they all that remarkable career. I mean -- remarkable remarkable careers so I don't. Battle processors and play whatever that time frame is. On I think about will be at the hall of buying but I that a lot of other great players do -- -- wait a lot longer so. You know it's just part of the deal.
