This is a great time it's a great time I can't believe. I really did you US a perfect question at the beginning of the show. Way back at the beginning of the show how many people. Before the start of the finals before the start of the playoffs have to say how many people thought the Celtics would be in this position. Many and it should you know we and I don't mean just set it or get a better year old unalienable are when you -- five Beers and you but actually thought this is where they'd be. Because well we all said. Going down the stretch the Celtics. Finished the season I believe. That 21837. In the final thing games are pretty you know. We said going down the stretch Celtics need to get -- three -- Avoid Cleveland in the second round. You do you really wanna avoid Cleveland or as long as you can -- Clinton sector out of talking to be good. And they didn't care. They kept telling anybody who want to listen. We don't care who -- play. You got a lot of emails and text messages already concerning the beat down you took from -- McMullen about the Altec yes. And some folks out there who were emailing you don't understand the way the tech rule operates. Your reasoning was sound whether I agree with -- -- not your reasoning was sound because you don't get suspended another game for each additional -- Another -- recipe except attack. He gets suspended for game. Even doesn't get suspended again until he picks up two more tax per when he gets nine it's -- one game suspension. When he hits eleven he gets a one game suspension when he its thirteenth. He gets a one game suspension. So folks out there I think that every time he gets attack after seven. He gets sat down for Gaza and any that was the case you're argument would make any sense at all. That's not just don't think it makes -- -- spike just edit Jackie Jackie -- like that argument at all. I'm just surprised that she thinks that the promising answer this week. He's known to law she's been away from the union but -- -- Indian presence is not me far too long. This is the reason and and I look I know that this is water. Under the bridge and over the dam and all that stuff but it's why I thought the NBA screwed this thing up so bad. If you think of the two technical files that Kendrick Perkins got that game. They were both ridiculous. But the first one was even more ridiculous than the second. I mean he's trying to help Paul Pierce up off the floor. Pierce's arm is sweaty dice playing in an NBA game his his hand slips on Pierce's arm. And he makes contact. With gore -- behind him so. Even if I say they're only gonna take back one the fact that they specifically said they took back the second one makes them look even dumber. Yeah you know DO when you deal with people we deal with anybody. You go with you go with a little bit of history you have certain expectations -- go to restaurants say that you love pizza. And you're like me -- -- -- and China. Okay you're gonna bills pizza you expect. A certain quality. I expect to compete there and I don't get -- good pizza got a little surprised. So I can only judge people based on what they've done in the past and and and what my experience has been with them. So based on that I know what I'm gonna get from the NBA officials I can guarantee that's what that -- I guarantee you. Kendrick Perkins get a technical maybe because of what his history -- with the officials. Also because of what I've seen for NBA officials in the last five years haven't gotten better they've got a lot worse and there will be a technical. For Kendrick Perkins in this series. And chances are very good. That it won't be justify. I know what's gonna happen. See her point about if he takes if he takes a tactical disease pitch in the periphery. And I'm with her shame on him. You know he knows the situation he has put himself in I'm not taken any of the responsibility away from him if he got attacked for that. He should be clobbered -- he would -- If he gets attacked because he and -- -- tester grappling for a rebound under the basket. And rod. It in some vain attempt to try to calm things down. Public kill him for that yet this is busted just stay away from Ron. What grabbed my arm what do these swings me around. He could he could be involved in a play that has nothing to do with any thing and -- himself suspended -- no no fault of his. Yeah I think I think the Celtics do talk a lot but we also have to remember. How easy the game looks. From where weeks and that's what I really enjoyed a conversation. And in game six between Jeff Van Gundy. Mark Jackson both guys have been closely game but one guy played it yet -- -- didn't. And they were talking about Nate Robinson Nate Robertson gets into the game distances. Really gets into a rhythm as well not just got into the game and really got into the game and he's displaying emotion. And Jeff Van Gundy is saying -- you know that's that's a little too much Marchex is 100. No I like it I like the fact that he's that he's doing -- he's showing emotion he hasn't set yet played for a while he's been sitting there. And now he's he's getting himself involved in the game I think it comes down to. Playing the game in one of these this is David Ortiz it's just for you. It comes down to playing the game and not play in the game is very easy for us to intellectual -- this thing and just say what players should and shouldn't do. It is easy. Rest to sit here and say you keep your one technical -- You can't show emotion you can't talk back to the official just take it zipped it up and walked the other way easier said and a. I or anybody I I think this series is fascinating for people here and people in LA. I don't believe that the rest of the country is sick of it I understand if they're sick of it that's -- if you think about how many NBA finals have been fought between these two franchises. How many NBA titles exist between these two franchises fully half the NBA titles in the history of the -- I understand why the rest of the country -- The irony here is people keep saying all while if I'm David Stern I wanna Boston LA final. Sure nationwide that is such a good thing. We'll find out what the numbers you know show what says this thing goes on from a from an NBA perspective they might be better off a little full fresh blood in there LeBron against. Well I don't know who from the west. -- -- -- -- It's not like we pick a -- if you think about Celtics lakers. That break had a break. Over twenty years the last one before 2008 was 1987 and -- two out of three so -- 1987. So you go through the entire 1990s. Without Celtics lakers go through most of the 21. The the 2000. The first part of the 20% three. Without Celtics lakers. Actually had a two -- last three years it's gotten no I got that I had a great story line. The Celtics won in 2008. They embarrass the lakers and Kobe Bryant at home beat him by 39 point. Here's the opportunity for revenge. Celtics lakers part two would like a sequel. Yeah I'm in a text to brings up a good one you know from from the NBA's overall perspective. With the with the -- be better served with a LeBron Melo matchup in the in the NBA finals you know the young guns that the fresh blood the next generation. And -- overall business perspective they might. But look within Boston folks who live in LA can't wait to see yet another chapter in this this saga I mean this is what we wanna say. I can see where nationally you know basketball fans and other NBA cities are gonna come Boston -- Mavs and nuggets in the NBA finals and go to attack convention and get the same thing can you match in the tattoos. -- had to lose and that's here every Denver. You want to -- got to see it all and it's like it's. The festival. Not that's okay I think Celtics lakers East Coast West Coast big stars Kobe Bryant Phil Jackson trying to trying to. Increase his lead over read our back lots of stories lots of history. Not -- LeBron Kevin Durant I don't think you get better in this because of the best.

Cleveland Indians hottest team in baseball, yet remain last in attendance May 19, 2013 By AJ Kaufman 6 Comments There’s a scene in Major League where Bob Uecker, portraying the radio voice of the Indians, bemoans, “In case you haven’t noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven’t, the Indians have managed to win a few here and there, and are threatening to climb out of the cellar.” Well, that was nearly 25 years ago and fictional, but today’s reality is that Cleveland has won 17 of its last 21, and currently tops the AL Central with a mark of 25-17. No one in the majors is better than the Indians in the past month (20-7). That’s great news. The bad news, however, is the Tribe somehow remain in the MLB cellar when it comes to attendance. How can this be? The fact that I wrote on this same topic almost to the day last year – when only Tampa Bay drew fewer fans than Cleveland - may be even more troubling. Though roughly 34,000 watched a walk-off win Friday night against Seattle, perfect weather and free caps weren’t enough to draw more than 36,000 Saturday and Sunday combined. What did the Indians do in those tilts? They nabbed another walk-off win on Saturday, then the Indians crushed the great Felix Hernandez Sunday behind Justin Masterson, arguably the AL’s best pitcher right now. Fun fact: The Indians have already faced eight Cy Young Award winners in 2013: Bartolo Colon, R.A. Dickey, Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Jake Peavy, David Price, Justin Verlander and Hernandez. They have won seven out those eight matchups. Simply astounding. This offseason, the much-maligned Indians front office finally made a legitimate attempt to improve the team through free agency. I’m not talking an Ubaldo Jimenez-like trade, but rather smart acquisitions that brought veterans Mike Aviles, Michael Bourn, Jason Giambi, Scott Kazmir, Brett Myers, Mark Reynolds, Drew Stubbs and Nick Swisher to Cleveland. In addition to being a fantastic place to watch a game due to great egress and ingress, with extremely affordable tickets, the best promo lineup anywhere, Jacobs Field boasts overall, cooler, less muggy summer weather than most Midwestern locales. The team also lowered beer and hot dog prices to $4 and $3 respectively. What other professional stadium in any sport offers that? I have visited 28 of the 30 current Major League Baseball stadia, and few top The Jake when all angles are considered. I say that as a baseball fan, not an Indians fan. As for the putative “economic” angle, these are the same people who spend insane amounts of money to watch terrible football every fall and show up in decent numbers for putrid basketball in the winter. Irrespective of season length, those sports charge up to 10 times the price for a ticket, and the atmosphere isn’t half as fan-friendly as baseball. I understand fans’ lack of willingness to get on board to some degree. A decent recap of Cleveland’s decade of “rebuilding” can be read here and the team suffered a horrific collapse last August. However, in addition to all the benefits of attending games at Jacobs (now Progressive) Field, fans should also realize the team has potential and often exceeds preseason aspirations at any point without warning. Cleveland hosts the rival Detroit Tigers — heavy favorites to repeat as AL Central champs — Tuesday and Wednesday nights before hitting the road. The temperature should be pleasant at first pitch each evening so you’d expect The Jake to be full to watch the best hitter on the planet right now — but don’t count on it.
