Or are free form Friday be without our weekly conversation with the expert on all things National Football League from ES BM. Our pal Adam shot after good morning out of how are you my friend John Jerry how are you doing we're doing very well you know -- just see in note two days ago we began. The attempt. The stopped talking about fourth and two but I think we're sort of compelled to at least addressed it briefly with view of my sources tell me you kind of liked the idea.
But no not I actually. Liked the idea and you -- Growing up I saw. The ball punted or -- back to Roger Staubach on too many occasions to count and I certainly do not remember maybe -- just might use. Roger Staubach ever failing in those moments every time he got the ball in the final two minutes he's seem to -- lead his team to a game winning touchdown. That sort -- Denver fifteen years of watching John Elway. He got the ball back in the last two minutes I don't remember -- failing in that spot in that moment it just didn't happen. And then. We -- now that's sort Peyton Manning. If you take the bull -- Manning out of reduce got to go to 48 yards 68 yards he's got -- looked down to do. War. You're telling -- at home. Peyton Manning clock starting sirens blaring -- astounding. -- at the line he's not gonna cut through I don't -- percent.
Well -- he did throw two interceptions he wrote several I don't care docs he had receivers dropped a number of passes I would -- game and they had forced 73. And outs on this guy I'm sorry seven punts and -- three and outs he was like he was infallible that night Adam.
I'm not saying you -- okay and -- games where -- the same happened with regard to step back in the same output jumped out like where they're at a live report -- time. Which not only the Broncos hadn't scored a single touchdown in eleven straight quarters and then scored particularly the final minute 56 seconds big cheeks.
What did you think when it happened that and we were you -- that with what was your initial reaction.
Well eight. EU LaMont got a subpoena of our balance in the morning at 5 AM and so I got dead beds and an eclectic game and I felt that the third quarter. And I got -- at -- Puerto Tibetan I had my Blackberry filled with emails and that's. Compete you believe this all by -- public although in order want to -- So we're back you're watching replays of it and -- obviously I knew how it turned out. So I viewed it from a different vantage point -- I was watching it a lot of my credit different take but. Number one I think it was the right call number two I think we got a bad spot. Okay number three if you're gonna tell me the Tom Brady needs two yards to win the game to keep the -- from dramatic that's -- I --
Oh we didn't tell you that the minute they -- if you make him go eighty. Yards you get a mutt and and by the way he scored with thirteen seconds left from the 28. So his knowledge he at one time if -- only one -- he didn't have. Plenty of time. And and you certainly wasn't a run the ball when he at all -- options available and plenty of time. He was forced to punt seven times and threw two picks.
Hey listen I -- vote until.
You have as much faith in that the rookie receivers you know issues as you -- You know whoever -- Webber was the three -- passes for stop Iraq or -- way.
Adam but it's supported C Esther -- let's go one at a would you agree. But the jets -- will encounter an angry ornery highly motivated patriot team on Sunday and how much difference does that emotion make in the outcome of the game.
I couldn't think of they worst set of circumstances. Short of maybe to -- became after the jets turn in the patriots sent spy gate for the jets haven't thought -- place. I mean this series can be the perfect storm of factors LLC -- out but. You get -- jets team that beat up -- doing what we feel right. That on their chest about it right they -- the patriots team coming off a bad loss of that's coming back home that's getting ready for the stretch drive around Thanksgiving with the -- struggling.
At no Leon Washington know Chris Jenkins and -- AM. Wes Welker -- didn't have him last time and no rust on Brady Anderson New England so.
I know I couldn't think only -- there -- other good projects determined the patriots despite gate the first to concede to get.
Yeah and an amber I think the real off fascinating scenario to compare you know colts in fourth and two. When what the patriots will be doing in those similar kind of situation going forward. Won't meet Sunday in Foxborough it'll be the following Monday night against Drew Brees and the saints because. -- more approximates obviously Peyton Manning and Mark Sanchez does it'll be interesting to -- a similar situation whether they go for a fourth of water for -- to -- waiting to get the football back.
But they're not going to be that same situation again scientists are going to be very interesting and yeah -- look see how it plays out but. If they've been a place you never know public to be and that sort of circumstances we would imagine that again for another decade.
And amid do you if you if the patriots have -- that punted and one like we all expected them to. Would you two day Adam -- sand and that's the best team in the NFL.
I don't know that you became the best I mean at WB saint. Watch out for the patriots they're back -- might be seeking to be there actually I still think right now to me. The best team in football right now today is the Minnesota Vikings. To make and you know the Pittsburgh should be kept out stretched even -- they lost the thing most take place -- division and the -- topic they promised that there are some really good teams this -- communities -- very good every year you know what I'm doing and doing what is right there with them.
Why it's hard to pick an NFC team in moments that pick in National League team in baseball but you may right. You know what's amazing is I don't know what you were saying but John and I were -- and a lot of people -- send. No Brad Childress is is just embarrassing themselves begging and pleading and going to the airport to pick him up fawning over Brett over Brett Favre. Think this he just got an extension what is it four million a year.
All right let's not quick that I like -- total 15000012. I don't like checkers I think it's a lot closer to remind -- look beyond ten million bucks extensions just give -- a number public I think it tears six point without.
Brett Favre. He doesn't get that money without -- with Tarvaris Jackson is quarterback. We are not sitting here reporting about a new contract extension for Brad Childress he walks away with. Many many millions because he Fonda and begged and pleaded and and and convinced Brett Favre to come to Minnesota.
that's correct and so in hindsight. And it was at a time it looked embarrassing. But it's -- the right thing it -- not.
Short while so far yes I mean I I you assuming. He won't end this year -- ended last year in New York.
Well everybody's been waiting for that to happen and it hasn't happened just yet. So until it does Brad Childress look smart but. Right now to me it's a situation where he went out he did the right thing and I think that if Brett Favre distaste helping state upper I I think that the team to beat anorexia really deal.
Let's say he does stay helping go to the end of the year I don't with a Brett Favre plans on coming back are not sure the -- hold other Summers are off season's worth that it could drag soap -- that crap all over again but -- what -- point. Brett Favre. Doesn't play quarterback for the vikings doesn't Childress revert to the same kind of mediocre coach who was on the hot seat at some point in his career there. Without Brett Favre well obtaining.
about -- the Buffalo Bills last year going -- dutrow does a very good man extension when he spotted want yeah okay. The vikings game Brad Childress and education and trademark. I know that you know Brad Childress was putting pressure meant to get it done wanted to get -- extension resolved and get better way and I don't know that I mean global. Makes sense. What would have been the harm in the Minnesota Vikings just waiting so you know. We we love you your approach and a great job.
It has to get your gap right don't -- always applies -- no coach ever plays out his option and becomes a free agent jumps to another team the way players do. It's it's and it's a Mitt that they have to lock him -- gonna pick up.
Well you know it I played a lot like -- and I don't it's brought out into the elected this year I don't understand.
Something go wrong between now in the playoffs right. And -- you mentioned the franchise. Let me ask you does Ralph Wilson really really think the Mike Shanahan would actually consider even for a moment. Coaching the bills in buffalo.
Limited -- okay. If you're the Buffalo Bills. You'd make that call thank you find out if there's any way that you can get Mike -- Let's make the call but but this this. Silent about. I think my -- and ultimately will wind up in buffalo my guess would be you know everybody's got -- would be no nobody. Is expecting that that will be -- spot ends up. But who's to say that buffalo does it make it easier recruiting picture -- to -- Mike -- job approval ricocheted at certain factors total line. And attention that there. Again. It outside chance but still a chance at least now. -- Cleveland Browns last year when -- hired Eric Mangini right right. You -- your parents we went big -- and we got shot we -- hit the big bear we try don't --
What I believe me I don't fault Ralph Wilson the bills for going after the guy it's just not based in reality in fact I'll I'll go step further. But Shanahan will not be coaching in buffalo Holmgren power none of the big names will be coaching in buffalo the -- ninety something years old it's a franchise that would be considered by. At the best standards small market. No luxury suites -- small market deal might be moving you know and in a year or two -- this be a job for the next clocked. A coordinator to take.
Well I don't know about that because again. What do you say it would all those factors because you're not gonna pay -- your argument.
Gonna pay you don't have it's it's thought a -- blowing it here right now Adam at Adam. Ware on the eagle slide. You'd think -- Holmgren and collar and Shanahan are as it applies. Two coaches in the national football like at -- the top of the scale and -- openings good openings for all of the other to be -- sure there are other artists are wildly lucky Tellme -- six 'cause there's six coaches and out of Brian Billick had Jim -- Redskins. Chicago. Much Merrill. And -- may or may not under --
And the Redskins maybe they don't wanna work for gaining Snyder maybe they don't like that situation besides the talking about at least four. Former Super Bowl winning coach writes for yet and then what if Jeff Fisher becomes available what if but it Tony Dungy decides to coach again. What if Brian Billick goes begging for job that's a lot of code what's the bill look at the same point 91 is a formal written Shanahan -- not he won a subtle is don't wait -- you just sit there would be the next hardcourt I don't I think it's going to be that's not -- coordinator.
More or less -- like it you know of them of bill record Denny Green era. Mangini he is all the got a ways.
Sort of -- lot of thing here is that the bill to recognize that way that they spent money in recent years hasn't worked. So I think they've done a cost benefit analysis should Michigan -- as an example last year they -- TO one -- six and a half million dollars yeah. Your salary is contract grown -- this year's -- freed up so let's say okay you know what we'll meet -- franchise next year. Resigning video player of his -- quarterback to win a game for -- What my cabinet. Waited at the -- you know what would you say it has been a 130 million dollars on players next year that's the budget I'm throwing out random numbers here. So you don't like to make a budget 122 point. Vishay of -- protection money to the head coach the big Munich coach that we can -- to buffalo beat it Mike Shanahan or bill cal Michael rip anyone that's wanted to go to. If it that's what we're those coaches want to help.
You know I was gonna ask you can put Cincinnati was it genuine contender in or into the AFC but now I see you -- upset of the week.
went out and get a virus incidentally no no no no legit Super Bowl -- the -- Oakland. Yet they get it back and you don't want to put out but not disturb -- and yet seven years. That's a -- that. A -- so.
I just think that -- this particular case everybody now telling them how good they are which have been targeted. And the -- I guess expansion. And the -- changing quarterbacks and the bank will sort out west. I don't think that's going to be a tough -- percent Snedeker went I think I think vocalist -- that is a legitimate playoff contender could give epic. It would -- blast at the start of the year I don't.
I am I am my mortgage check chairman of the lithium Adams has put little clue what disappoints me I don't support growing into of that. I can tell you that.
It's gonna be one of those double digit once in a one of those big one -- one. You you lot of faith and Bruce Gradkowski and I don't.
not happen yup you know listen behind. When people that you are betting it I seriously don't bet yeah that's simply military. That's upon the ten dollars on media. On the bank and -- despite a -- dots -- the raiders to eBay too and again about right right.
You gotta look brilliant next Friday on the -- right in Oakland pulls -- is JaMarcus Russell officially done -- eating the money and moving honorable Leo one more opera to detect when.
Now I don't know this job was done a tendency to right side and he got a chance having children accomplish mortar at this point in his career the JaMarcus Russell that's certainly but the feelings for now he's done it Oakland and I think you'll probably get that. JaMarcus Russell proportions not important. It has not been important to him he's not demonstrated that he cares he's not that -- went to work peanut Devonshire of these would do whatever it takes. To be the top quarterback of that organization to be starting -- got a quarter -- to be a leader is not been a leader. He's been abject failure so far. And it goes back Al Davis at the press conference last year when he fired link get passing Lane Kiffin didn't want to Marcus Russell I told JaMarcus Russell gonna be a great quarterback yeah. So harder. You know it didn't work out and maybe one -- analyze it will but it's gonna take a massive attitude change and JaMarcus Russell to have that happen.
Hey we rarely -- never ask you a question based on an email we got but -- rob emails us this morning and says can you guys please ask Adam. Why in the world he was on NASCAR now on Wednesday.
What happened was and I've got a lot of emails in two weeks in question about this case last. And Bristol. There I guess and I don't know nothing about masters -- but I know that Jimmie Johnson it would he's going to restore championship DOD when -- out of it no no. Something ugly anyway he's -- the ball -- the -- anyway so this guy's gonna you know do something historic in NASCAR so they got together. Some reporters slash analysts from each sport to talk about what makes a dynasty what. Comprises a doctor. Be all that and so I represented the football side and most are holding the baseball side -- the basketball side of Barry Melrose by hockey side and we just debated. What makes dynasties and what's the challenge there and and and then they apply it however they did to NASCAR military and no clue in the world.
You know knowledge of NASCAR required for that game. Correction or -- there had been -- I would appreciate you do not try to be out there I don't make. More of a little much solidarity go through not a Santa restrictor plates and all that. I I I wouldn't know what was happening if a car ran me over near the look that happened we enjoyed talking you too much in front -- appreciate that okay.
I did run over I would the first suspect would be Chris -- tonight.
That's not a -- and I integrate more and I didn't want all eyes and actually -- know that's an act he feels threatened by you we know that nobody can we honestly we we it'll bring attention you know -- blogs too yeah for the tennis in the dark the united -- yeah -- guy but he gave you stink eye on the at the other day I thought you -- at that. That this. Now they they they did -- NASCAR now look at Mozilla dealt you do it don't know right now.
a we'll talk it is Friday appreciate the talk. Guy -- after Johnny Dennis and Callahan on AT&T outline AT&T. Your world delivered.
