We'll -- but it -- fits in. Right back to the big -- get back to the -- also just a little bit it's time for our weekly chat with the president of basketball operations. For you -- Boston Celtics Danny -- joins us live on the full mystery -- you today. Or just -- now how does support -- argue that you're team's only averaging what the beating teams by 2.3 game.

Oh yeah its creator keep it has been -- went and -- are shooting. Really big shots that we. Alt plus one or alt plus two -- three guys. It's been on -- day in -- we can -- but better.

Obviously -- I talked about this a little bit last last week you've obviously put together a roster that has tremendous depth. That he is going to be able to take some of the pressure minutes wise off of some of your other guys so that you can. You know have some minutes at the end of the year where they can rest a little bit and get ready for that for the postseason did you expect out of the gate though. That these bench players would be playing significant minutes and applying the same as your first thing.

Public the only surprises up his statement -- has -- Sheldon -- step up the a couple of double figure rebound game. Read double figure scoring game. But that's it'd be a big boost for us. But I think that this partisan but he yells at you that they're thinking that she could be -- and -- audit we talent and it. Are pieces to the good solid player thinks I'm deeply. So. I can play against they expected that because artist played better than the plane also which is very --

Danny just part of my keys Daniels and I was wondering it is there. A lot of similarities there are too well what you had from my James Posey a couple of years ago I don't know tremendous amount about Daniel's I'll be honest but. It seems to me the versatility that he has shown here in a short sample. Kind of reminds me a little Posey a couple of years ago.

What McCain are completely different but the role that I noticed and stabilize stabilizing the -- I think I'm thinking defensively -- was ability to maybe cover some some different kinds of players but. Maybe it's it's -- I think erratic side similar. To poses more with three point shooters. Marquis is more of ball handler penetrator -- scored post. But they're opposite gains if -- the -- games are similar there and they are very personal but offensively marquis has more versatility. It people are smart Bright Eyes -- there are similar. Personality.

Did he we've been talking about the death a lot on this team and obviously fans got to key in on on that give you the ability to withstand injury but how important is it. -- game like last night to tonight when your on the road tonight with no day off they were able to rest years -- Big Three in the top guys and over the course of the season. To be able they had to lower -- minutes on some of those guys because now you have that -- and have -- that can come and how much will that -- over the course of the season.

Well I I don't know on opposite Saturday -- That ultimately our successes it'd be dependent on. All the guys we need all the -- EG Rondo -- we did those as well we need the higher pitched well. It we need to report those guys we don't have that out all the ought to be -- at night or and that's the beauty of murky right now. And KG they have mystical city night last night that we get a database at the Sheldon. -- he's received all that well. -- we have a lot more room for air. I think is the biggest thing while we're at bitch about but which word about it I think that's what -- that. I think that the fact that. Up or -- has been that.

I what are my -- and I saw this in the paper today a league official confirmed yesterday that the NBA is investigating. The incessant trash talking between. Two guards Rajon Rondo and Chris Paul. On Sunday. What what am I missing here if you have you talked to the league about this why would they investigate. -- it does not happen all the time and the ambient.

It -- I have not heard a word. I don't know without them so you don't even know they are those that -- No I don't happen -- it happened or. They may have Aldridge on and they did all of August if -- stories that there's a difference between investigation and that's that's. Sometimes as much as as the investigation goes to see if there's he did do an investigation. But -- there's things like this publicized. Think that it -- that will be checked into it but. I'm sure that there's been at that.

I just don't understand why you would even waste the time and if you talking about language. I mean. There's only talked the KGB has put solid and as economic times investigator Larry for trash. So obvious ML Carr didn't change anything.

Yeah I thought I'd get I'd I don't know all the details about it I had a I don't think it's a big deal. But.

Imagine how many investigations that could have been in your career with all the times that you -- and other people east. I I just don't but. For the for the MTA for some NBA official to actually confirm that first of what's embarrassing that the league even. You know admit. The trash -- would why would you wanna contain that I mean. You're two terrific young guards obviously very competitive situation. -- jarred out there on the floor I would think that's good for business.

Right it would mean if there are concerned about that fixed and they play and give them more warning for the game -- tolerate this stuff like that -- I think that's a on the there's all.

So those Rhonda negotiations went pretty well sister talked to last Wednesday and you simply confident when we when we spoke to -- Wednesday that he had seen anywhere that. We gonna do an impression that we thought I was gonna get done before the the deadline.

While we were all hopeful that we beat we -- field and there's a lot of little things worked out in such issues. -- did it worked out we I think both sides were -- multiple. We still have a bright future with one other point forward. But I think it's better this year and it turned out a deal done on. Etiquette it is a -- about what it's today. It not been players in its key players that a lot of these negotiations. Have been out of the watch them. Is in recent years. When these things become accuse it now. For whatever reason -- play as well capable. Stone -- knows well. From bats and -- sort which indicated.

A sudden there was one thing that hit me that you seventh that was quite interest again. And I didn't realize that there would be as much money out here in the league you thought there was going to be a lot of money out there especially. If certain teams are not able to get a LeBron James together -- way to get a specific response to whatever specific player. That they would have to probably do something. And how much did that play into it you decision that you guys all sat down and said okay how far. Can we go with this knowing now that there's gonna be so much money you also said another -- and you -- you knew for a fact that there were teams out there that really -- Rhonda. -- published at all of that play into it that when you reflected ahead. And you looked at the landscape. Come June you thought there was a real chance that some team was gonna commander and offer him a lot more money in a restricted situation.

Yeah I think that you know -- agents in in what numbers we decide to go to his. Is based on trying to predict the future of the best became an instinct for their perspective. It'll -- the first while it Robert -- he's getting better integrate tree -- and who you know a lot of the areas that we discussed use. As a great science from John. And second of all there's a lot of money out there there's a lot of teams that are preparing for the 2000 and free agent market. Ended that are. This summer as a lot of you are aware with all the trade numbers. We discovered even know we were really close to be an ideal for right resound. We discovered that there is a great deal of interest it you know and there's a lot of teams with a cap speeds with money. That have him I'll let that looked app and that so I think all those things are practiced quite but the --

We we heard about the media that you had with him out in -- can you explain what that meeting was about did you have any concerns. With him now with this new contract.

Not any more concerns than anybody -- I think that. You know I have a good relationship with on top all the time. You know -- can be very honest forthright with him it was more of the responsibilities as leaders and responsibly to come with this contract. Things are different in beating young -- it's you know not being -- in -- in the public light although the responsibility to come out and I'm just trying to give him that I. It's been about an hour. Just discussed almost.

Get back to their money situation in the offseason. And we know there are like six or seven of those top guys that a free agents and -- 2010 class. Do you think there's a possibility. That some of those teams might end up signing two of those guys for example. As you look at the money that teams are gonna have available. -- LeBron James and I'm in Cleveland and I'm not satisfied with the present roster right now -- city Cleveland I'll stay here. But I -- Chris Bosh in here with me how one number two guy that I couldn't go to battle with gold forward or if you're Miami. And you'd wait wait you said they -- I I need another big guy here to be able to make it work could we see eighteen scooped up two of those free agents at a time.

Well I think it. Either of those teams -- The teams that out want to. That might be able to -- up a little bit horse -- Retreating -- contracts and -- it department to spin it right and that's likely. But possible. -- think that is possible. One of those teams could --

I think if you -- those guys there and you're gonna stay. -- your present team the only way utilities have that team can convince you. That you have a chance to win one why would you stay there if -- if you can go to the Boston or or or LA or a team that's got a better shot at winning.

Right well people that's a good shot at winning right now in the very petite and and I think Miami has the.

They decisions at the end of the year to not only with LeBron because the Shaq will be a -- twenty million will be done I mean you've got to. Right you'd have to replace it with somebody -- think.

You got a paid their they have to replace them all roster in with the salary cap going down it becomes more issue. There's there's less money to be spent it and we've all been preparing for. Overall but that does mean that there's still lucky to have a lot -- Laps but there is little bit last reached experienced. Credentials which changed.

Did -- talking about the contract with Rhonda you talked about the differences the responsibilities that go along with a big contract for young player. Doc Rivers is talking yesterday saying he doesn't buy into that money changes a young player. Why was Rondo a guy you thought this wouldn't change and going back even your days as a teammate now on the management side have you seen. These kind of contracts changing guy yet to the worse that time.

I have seen it on occasion but yeah I'm not worried about resign -- apply. Be that basketball jumped. He's a great competitor I'm not worried about that -- it it's very competent in itself. I think he's going to be better as a result of this contract is there as there the pressures -- people who or even though there is some pressure are getting to be on track. Still eat the bird one -- you're always thinking about it. Is it it it'll be a parking lot and pepper.

I'll Wallace called you I know you you know closer where we -- here when you were here and all that stuff but. What would you do if -- Iverson Randolph on the same team how would you handle that.

you know I have wondered about that you know -- you know like Iverson can still a lot upper. I think that it. He needs to apply -- and -- it wants the planet and management is about level. It just aren't gonna play a much much less roll. That's -- that's out now even -- we talk about it is such a competitor it's out there he wants the he wants to prove he's still one of the best players of all right now again it's just. A good player All-Star player -- he scored history has. Off the bench averaging eight point in that respect career --

But don't shoot five fantasy must have known as I believed was told what is role would be with his team. For him to act surprised to seize the sixth man trying to kind of weird to me starter right or -- ever since it ultimately Yzerman his own little world and.

When it's Stiller. You know I'm I'm glad I don't know which.

That's the answer yes it's well that one throw look you know I could -- the other one that you have is that you have. Veterans who really. Understand it and pass. That on to the younger players I think -- be very difficult putting a team together where you've got some young players trying to develop something. And then you're dealing with -- Iverson who says they're just give me the ball and you write in for his personal game. He needs 35 to 38 minutes every night to be able to do it on the alien. The -- saying publicly. And you know sometimes is public perception when it gets back -- locker room it can be disastrous. You're lucky you have guys that -- you've got veteran guys who not only understand it would seem to be passing that on to the younger players.

I think that there's. You know obviously there's. Teams that are the championships they have their own goals to -- the playoffs -- individual goal that equals may be our goal was to win a championship but that these yourself. Everybody in our locker room knows that we have a change. We do our job but it. Play well where in the there's there's a lot of teams currently they don't -- They have different tidbit that thinks that herself her coach.

How come that shot -- took less than of the backboard counted then -- on the team -- Larry did I've seen a couple times they always they always that this law that basket outcome run those that count last night that -- hundred.

You know it was it was also went over the corner of the pact would be -- must not have. Had a good -- to -- it because you not be suitable for the top of the pack for.

It was made big shot -- the more amazing play it was a behind the back. Bounced past diagonally it was here's trailed is an amazing. Place last.

I -- those those driving -- at which stretched out over the big hand. Around it of the the -- pretty impressive to you know he's been a lot of XBLA and that's but it.

Paul Pierce seems like he's playing at another level -- the disputing what he's done in the past he's done is we've discussed last hour is all fine player. What happened here in the in the offseason have you seen this to be seen. A more serious more focus Paul Pierce is that some change here.

You know what he he has he would like this two years ago. It's like there's some last year as well at the -- worn out carrier last year to eighteen record that. All that's been. In this practice facility. Looked up my window a few nights last week it -- opted against it a shot. After our back to back games last week the earlier this week he was in the gym at 10 o'clock it got. I mean he he has focused he's in great condition it. Is putting -- anybody that I've ever played well it would be leery of the great workers.

Larry is -- I mean definitely always. He's really worked in our -- very well.

And it's funny in talking to somebody your guys you players. Last week the week before. I get the feeling that it really hurt them. That they didn't win it last year it's almost like he does what think about building up to get to that first championship -- you get it but now you get it and then they take it away from -- Are you sensing some of that -- the urgency that your team has right now to get that thing back.

You know would whenever you whenever you want. You just want it more you don't -- EP feel pretty good about yourself but initially. And I think we went through a little bit last year but I also think that record that -- people forgot we started -- to -- with Elizabeth that are very focused but before the entries started in and so. I think that up. As far -- focus I have no concern that this.

Everybody's coming up with a 72 wins 74 was everybody's got the wrong prediction but its interest in -- time. Somebody's asking doc about something -- talks about. Our focus is to be the best. Defense and team and do it to establish that that seems to be the goal he shying away as most guys are from the number of -- that to throw out there.

I I think we should even be able. I don't think we should talk about that as well our goal was to be the best he chipped chipped. Our regular season while he needs to eat all that can mean but I really beat it it doesn't matter how many went -- pregnancies. It's how we're pointed out that we should play it prepares you can now. You know playoff basketball and that's getting better -- better excuse. The order -- it is time to be the better we're going to be in the.

I did a good talking to you again we'll talk to -- like. All right -- anything president of basketball operations for the Boston so which review of the action.
