Dale and Holley Opening Segment

Trying to figure out of the bye week is a unique opportunity to watch a more global. NFL experience and watch a bunch of different games not really care that much about any one. Particular game or -- or of the biweekly is just. You know rubbing your nose and at that everybody on the planet has a game that matters except you. I mean it's fun to watch other football games -- watch Miami in the jets and it was fun to watch -- get booted it green ballot stuff but at the end of the Sunday didn't just sit there take. Which would -- only one of those games men's.

Now now I'd like to buy a week at that was great I thought it was even better because there was more sleep. Involved -- it was a beautiful weekend I mean Saturday was Saturday really was the gift from god wasn't fantastic. Yesterday it was great not I was it was I was an up like it was a no win win position for example. Dolphins jets game either team loses you're happy -- matter. Open it okay to lose -- dolphins lose you felt like okay they and they may be out of the division race five losses before. Before Election Day for the dolphins that might be tough to recover from but. The reeling jets continue to lose and you don't want them to be miserable so. That was fine I was actually rooting out about -- Dallas rooting for Brett Favre part. In in men and Green Bay.

I like -- and I wasn't sure how that was how I was. Re acting as the game started. And and bio by the way those friendly midwesterner so currently depressed they weren't they make those gentle souls that midwesterners. -- souls in the world. Partly wanted to see him go in they also don't have a life in La Canada and pounding a 100000 people barely. And they probably fudge the numbers they give up to a 100000. They got one pro sports team in town. There in this sticks of Wisconsin. You know grew Milwaukee is the big city in half an hour away. What do they have to live for. So when you when you turn your back on them. You've left the family you let that that trusted circle how dare you anywhere on him to and they were on him from the beginning of warmup breakthrough. Of the time the game ended so partly wanted to see him you know stick it to the Europeans have Green Bay who worshipped him for so long and then. You know. He turned his back on them first but you know they they cut this -- I don't know they -- is that they turned their -- have I don't think so he wanted to come back you want to be a pack -- and all that's that's Ted Thompson that's not fans I mean okay well advanced respect he wanted the job right lap of the job. Get rid of the ball I mean about it and I don't like that are gonna about it too.

The huge gap between the teams that get good quarterback play in the teams to get bad quarterback play. -- No matter what quarterback makes in this league it's not enough. I I I'm I'm becoming more convinced than ever that a good quarterback is more important than a good coach. That if the if you got a good quarterback you could probably overcome a crummy coach. But if you've got a bad quarterback you can be the best coach that god ever put on a football field and you probably still aren't gonna win. It just that you -- quarterback play area.

If you've got a good quarterback. You can overcome. Mediocre coaching -- bad coaching. If if you had a great quarterback and and Tom cable was coaching chances are you're probably not gonna win much. But if you're even up a mediocre coach of run of the mill middle of the pack coach in the NF.

The real point is already being proven your point has been proven. Just look at San Diego. Yeah. I would Norv Turner there's -- what he suddenly there is -- became a a great coach after Washington after Oakland now. I getting even become a great coach. He's got a great quarterback though Philip Rivers yup. And it probably. Overcomes a lot of his -- he's easily the definition of a mediocre football coach is not great and he's not terrible. It's just that guy he's just a coach.

Instead of a -- he's had Jack get does that Jack fifth at at that but that's -- Orleans Norv Turner Jack. It was fun to watch football yesterday it was fun to watch the jets and Miami knowing you've got the dolphins coming in here next Sunday. And you know. I I truly don't know how the jets have lost some of these games they've lost lately. And I truly don't know how the dolphins have won some of these games they've won lately.

I not a jets have lost. Not yesterday -- quarterback back viewpoint the quarterback was good. He was pretty good had a good day I mean wasn't a five interception day. Like he had against buffalo. But he was solid but. You look at their record they -- probably gonna wind up being an eight -- team because they got a rookie quarterback. On Sunday's who's going to be very good and another day it's gonna take you right out of they got -- they got a solid team NA any talented. Untested. Inconsistent I mean that's that's the word comes out in the got -- inconsistent quarterback Mark --

I'm. I have to admit they can't lose enough to make me happy. I mean I if if you grow up in New England if you -- patriots thing always hated the jets anyway. But they're more contemptible this year even than in recent memory. I mean even back to that to the days of the border war and all that stuff there's something about Ryan there's something about how they acted in week one there's something about. You know when they were undefeated and talk and Super Bowl and and you know mark Sanjaya is is -- quarterback there's something about seeing them. Probable a little bit that just in it says something bad about me that just makes me feel good.

No I love that about I loved both sides like the the -- and Matt Ryan and the Rex -- That's what comes out for me with -- New York. I don't wanna see their teams win championships. But I like what they do really well. And how likely do really poorly because I like height. I like you know I like the New York Post in the crazy headlines they come up with when they think they're doing. Something great or when they think there's no open they got the worst team in the world of the worst teams in the world. As long as they don't win championships it's all very entertaining self. Rex Ryan after -- too entertaining to me Kerry Rhodes. Entertaining which charity game getting pushed around by the patriots give -- a glimpse into your soul I'm glad you let me know how you feel let me know about your insecurities. The patriots bother you about.

Though that they really get to keep you want -- but I love it. I mean unfortunately I hate to say it but one of those New York teams that you're talking about -- yeah on the average of winning a champion air out there. There. There's not a weak spot anywhere in there it's ridiculous one through nine. They got a guy who can search. And then they buy a little more time for for I don't think in a two year deal but okay one -- DO -- deal. They buy a little by little more time. There's probably one of the thing that I've noticed in the courts have we played four games so far in the World Series enemy and tonight. Many -- the Red Sox have an American League lineup obviously obviously there in the American League. Whose lineup is better the Phillies or the Red Sox I would say the -- way I hit me hard you can. Use not let me. Swept out of the playoffs the Connecticut and score. And there's no way. I think that you think the Red Sox have a better lineup than you've got to -- J. D. That's where they make their pay and and probably should I think -- worth as much better even than I expected. And I at least -- the guy carrying this team offensively in the World Series so far. I mean Howard is just and a terrible series right. I was just awful I I know how good he -- and I know the ones 76 I'm looking at so far is not an indication that. It the that you think Howard better and Kevin Youkilis. While it's certainly a better power threat now would you really admit that I like Youkilis is better here which you would you take if if you had to pick one of those guys. He's going -- one would take Youkilis who would take. Ryan Howard. On the tough call a couple of obvious that -- it's a tough call you just because this is a better defensive player a better hitter Howard it's the power. Yeah I mean Howard is is a much better power threat then get blinded by the numbers numbers that -- wanting it just you know -- only got a couple's home runs. In a Youkilis gonna give you thirty and Howard has the potentially give you 45 or fifty. You know is this is the fifteen home runs. Such the all I'll take that because you -- better play better hitter better defensive player. I mean my first instinct is to say you clueless knowing that you're gonna get less home runs that's a -- one for -- I don't know. They got that power. I mean look there there's no doubt about it -- girls but I think of now I just. When I watch this team and and you know we've now watched in four games of the World Series -- in the in the NL the NLCS. I mean they're supposed to be good at the defending world champions that investing in the nationally -- they're.

They're great team and you know what yankees are great team -- there's two great team. And it through four games the Yankees have been better but I'm gonna I'm not gonna dismiss affiliate I'm not gonna say they're overrated they're nationally process that's they are. They are very good. Did to give back to the World Series again after winning it last year that's tough -- tough and I've just mentally. It's tough for some teams to be able to accomplish that so. They belong here but they've just they've just run into. A team that's probably more talented -- they are.
