When you win -- side it. -- what was your first reaction was it because he is he obviously you've been I think you're you're going in the on deck circle and you see these are the things happen and wasn't. All know right away -- what did Julio what was your reaction.

Yeah I mean that's that's the hard part about. You know again games like. You know -- in late in the year and you know dirty air in no where in the policy and and -- Angels spirit we already know what's gonna go on now guys are. Our games are working and still stay -- and get ready for the post season. The biggest thing that real fear is. Now somebody get hurt and you know obviously -- would throw throw hard and you know I don't think it abolish it is all just kind of economic. Gotta write that red -- so the first reaction what's you know. We you know deflect off -- don't give them square hopefully you know. But. I I octagon not much you editing and and -- extra stuff like that and analysts offers second half games so -- find out a lot more whenever it's BR today.

So what's been the most eye opening thing about working with him at shortstop. The -- you you work more than just a little bit in 2006. Right.

Yeah you know play a couple games and it's about that ever -- the biggest thing. In other that he -- it's everything so consistent policy and sent spot. -- he obviously makes. It makes every play he makes a great player he is one special speak at shortstop in the game I mean. You know watching him play every night he does something figures. Heck was that now. So he's he's certainly on the play with than you know he's been huge boost for team.

Well defensively he's been everything the Red Sox fans Dustin remember I think on the offensive end things at 285 hitter during his time here I think it's surprised. A lot of people with that part of his game that you've seen him work on to try to. Improve certainly he's a gold glove type shortstop on offensively boy he's been pretty good there bottoming a Red Sox order.

Yeah he's what he's swung the bat great ever since he came over and is that huge force in the -- lineup over and you know having to -- come up with guys -- come up with guys on bases. It's really big for our group. There are the first you've -- order which is if we're -- you know that that's huge because -- score got base for the for the bigwigs aren't that.

So coming off an MVP season in Iraq in the tuxedos all offseason and independent you know do the commercials and you. He is that's always tough to repeat what you what you did but you've you've come pretty close to -- a lot of the numbers that you had last year besides blogging for RBI dot com what's been the most gratifying things of that you've done this year on the field.

You know it just. Just being consistent you know don't bill I think I'll try to do this year I -- I I -- who's going to be. Was it more to grind than you thought it was going to be. This year.

You mentioned the grind out how did becoming a dad during the season. Change your perspective and did it change your perspective on on what you do and how you approach. Baseball and you balance of the family and the baseball right now.

I'll be a little bit and -- hasn't changed much at Stillwater it yarder early in and you know are bitterly Pigram alternate you'll. I -- do all my stuff every day like normal except for today in this rain we got on but. You know it's just pretty much suspense stuff you know it but it definitely funny outlook I Altman. And you know just seen him grow up in and get bigger every every week it's kind of crazy yet. Never. You know -- be like this but on the as far.

That talk a little bit about how pitchers are approaching the different compared to last year and I I would imagine. It star little bit in the playoffs. Last year by it how has how pitchers come value this year compared to last year.

Our I think -- difference is this. And more stuff you know wait for. Oh -- a waste from you know -- power and obviously am aware tired 65 pounds and and you know pretty much -- hours to port side and the other the smart thing to do is to stay away from that -- Are a lot more stop all the way up speed which is the way it. But -- on our mom adjusting to that and conducted a couple of homers and and that trying to drive the ball hit to right center and right field line spoke. -- you know -- that's been the main thing pretty much all year.

While you can -- play with David Ortiz now dusty for a couple years and and he went their way is such trials and travails earlier this season but he's close in on thirty home runs hundred RBIs this year. -- talk about his demeanor throughout the course of the season do you see a different David Ortiz. Late in 2009 and maybe you saw early in this baseball season.

Yeah absolutely you know I think sometimes you know when -- went about well you know your confidence just. It disappears you know feel like he can't he can't get -- if you do hit the ball party hit it right at somebody enough shall Florida. In -- up to -- it was want to -- in the air. You know started about a lot better and you could just held a conference was coming back in an. And and you'd just see you know it I'll be back and he swung statesman about. You know great -- I don't. Really know what is his numbers are averaged close -- under every. -- Article you're crazy but he's on the back great that's that's a big reason why we're we're headed back to the playoffs and you're at the.

So who you're you're gonna play the Angels whether or the challenges claim vehicles and obviously they're an aggressive team and everything but from your perspective. What's kind of those vibes the feeling you get when you have to go against the Angels compared to a lot of teams is this -- honest here they are different than a lot of teams you faced. Over the course of a year they're much more aggressive and build both take the extra basal steal probably more bases than usual from. But from where you stand what's what's the perspective of that.

Yeah I'm animation makes our job you know on the Indians built up and there are always you know it runs Galen. You know -- the Islanders beat guys off base third their top two guys in order. Cannot base you know -- what they like to run they like to make things happen. -- you know it difficult for her defense but. You know we're gonna control the running game and and but the biggest thing it is if we keep mark this up to worry about it or think that the game playing it and got to keep those. Ought not ballpark in and you know the the hitters Dirk that's the biggest thing for I think Carroll looks -- here's I you know he got a good background. If you the ball well -- and they got -- infielder that Bermuda grass they got brought Erin. It's huge huge right through so are at nighttime obvious if you play at night game the ball carries good it has been dead by. Are automatically to good art and not in not to work -- out there and get it going -- few days.

So again retaliate everytime we turn on the TV your face is on a drive down the road don't room one big billboard with the head on it. And and so it I was just watching TV the other day you're being chased by a dog in the outfield and so entire commercial.
