Why not I mean I am I'm ready yet I did my homework I watched it the Olympic -- last night though. I know that David Ortiz and it is 25 with three home runs anymore.

How do you feel about the news. That John -- reports in today's Boston Herald that the Red Sox will begin the playoffs with. Jon Lester taking the ball in -- and Josh Beckett pitching pitching game two.

Well that's right. But I mean -- it's better in the last three months. -- two months anyway. And that every -- up the prices but I'm sure that. That the whole idea is make sure that Lester if start against the change mean this sort of weird thing about that is that I read the other day that. -- got a real its record against the angels. They got real high batting average. I don't even know what Beckett as but you know I don't know that that's I mean.

If those numbers are old -- eight and he does he does come. Pretty shaky numbers against. Of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim so tough for me to say that but. You know two of those stars -- from 06 and other starters for most seven and they only had one other start against him in 2008 haven't faced them this year sweeping them four times and -- this season and last.

You know you're right -- he's definitely different it's yet here and -- his -- was very -- and the other the other question -- What's gonna happen -- Air act play in the post these they have all these --

I'm guessing that he catches game two with a Josh Beckett pitches and Albania.

Yeah. It's really. I mean it's something that. -- you know I think I think that there is that the -- back gave him. An awful lot of -- here and and we're right read it one of the reasons why. It's just. It seems to be. It'd be one thing. If he was. If he had other been calling -- gains. If you -- defensive catcher recently but he I'm not just talk about that weird little at all against the angels lastly. Or whatever -- while it's. But. You know that there's any of the worst percentage or obese earners in currently involved. But he it's bad but I think it is I'm here -- it would be.

We have a number of teams in the NFL who went into this season I think in most people's minds as as at least contenders. And they're sitting here now after two weeks at one on one. You've got Green Bay as one and one dallas' one and one San Diego was one and one the patriots are one and one. Which of those teams is most likely to find a way to turn this thing around.

Where that the great question. I would say you know it's seen that package include Pittsburgh -- I mean and I didn't -- yet another one. Yeah I mean I think Pittsburgh probably. Is the team might have you with questions about all right still think the patriots are going to be. I just think there's too many good players on May have been good for a long time and they'll have a great desire to be as well coach. That's the thing about about what happens early in the season in any sport but particularly in football. I think it's so wrong to stretch it -- after one or two weeks. And you know I've I've I've said this week that. I think even if and it's the ghost 03. I still don't think it's so reform and I do think they're gonna go oh -- yet. But I think having one of the things that's you have to be a little bit careful look at this any year is making rash judgment. Because things like injuries. Start to pile up and and it -- on September 25. Is never the same as the is that thing on November.

How do you think the jets were able to have so much success defensively against Tom Brady is there anything that you saw. Of them do that may -- other teams haven't done before.

You know it's funny on the last three plays a net gain in succession in the ship sent 75. And six rupture. But they didn't and those pressures. From. From equally spaced out areas. Of the the -- for a they sent them is you know Rex Ryan's. Modus operandi. In essence is that he's not afraid but three guys over the -- back one -- from all. Though there were a couple of plays in the air one of which. I think I forget media the end highlighted it this week maybe it was NFL network anchor it was what some analysis of again. They get really did I need not be able to predict that if you want. But they show it out on one snap on that -- the patriot -- flocking here. Because directors came from different areas though. That's the problem with playing. It's the reason why you'll almost it how to -- a market carrier of that gain. Any bad you know the problem with pacing up and facing this and is that you do it because you don't know where it's coming from you have to -- protection. And then when the ball snapped you still don't know where. The -- coming from though it could end up being. Certain guys are overwhelmed and other guys don't have anybody to block. That's a hard thing about. About playing in the -- and again. I think that if it might have in the Atlanta Falcons what that they they got a they have that not only and -- on paper and they got to figure out ways to get. Kurt -- in the they got to get they -- here -- factors involved and and the air and there defensive -- he grit grime comes in. Heater and times this week he is don't know but I think it's yet -- good job. Are showing instantly that -- you know hey we you can write any quarterback no matter nobody is in -- are confident is. And it's going to be hard is that then.

You said earlier you think the jets are gonna go to three you know. And and the titans are gonna drop to oh and three so you obviously think they're legitimate do you think last year. They were a playoff team on sabbatical Leo they finished nine and seven look like they had control of the AFC east you think -- will pick up where they left off last year before things just collapsed on them toward the end.

They're talented enough to the now especially now that they have quarterback who you look at it they what was I ought to be able to -- the intent in what I mean I think beyond for -- what to regain that -- Sunday. Both threatening -- and Tony Dungy word extremely. Impressed. With with him. To. You know just is always. Needed -- have a great numbers day. I don't think any -- being an agreed members state but he's just he's not out by any I guess. Mean the one -- story -- Right now is. Mean when was the last time. That you've seen read quarterback. Eatery near first or second year playing like they're up and quarterback can only mean. But wacko and Matt Ryan right now they're up and quarterback in the itself in intent by -- season might. But. You know they're just they just play a little bit older mentally and and then they are. And it leads you to believe -- at least you know who wonder. If you take a quarterback I in the draft right now. -- Fairly well prepared. Either pro style or spread offense guy in college. Why shouldn't he be able -- earlier. Then may be a lot of us have our. That young -- like because now we get free samples of -- basically walked in off of -- hit the ground running and played great start.

earlier this week we heard that the San Francisco 49ers either had or contemplating filing. Tampering charges against the New York Jets concerning. Wide receiver Michael Crabtree where -- as things stand in to the jets have some some explaining to do to the NFL here.

Well that -- definitely you're gonna have some explaining to do dale because. Yet if this case has been filed. The NFL has told. The front office for the -- Francisco 49ers that yes they are going to investigate this. And that they will be taking a trip out DiFrancesco the interview. The the involved parties to find out what evidence they have that did not take place this week. Got a clue in the 49ers general manager was on the road scouting this -- though that hasn't happened yet but it will happen. And dale do I think anything will be crowned here. No white don't. But I think the few things I'm told him things on this story number one. Member about three weeks ago when Deion Sanders came around that there's two teams out -- willing. The pay. Over forty million dollars. Michael Crabtree. You know in a contract. If Sanders very close to the Crabtree camp. And has been talking to -- it quite a bit and so therefore. 49ers hurt that. And that really Rick very interest that I've been told that they have more than just this the -- statement. What was crazy about the standard statement is that it came after. The 49ers. Have any ability to trade. Michael Crabtree right now they. He can't go play for somebody else right now so. That's what was strange about that statement. I I -- pass that off at the beginning is. Beyond not knowing the rules of the NFL I think it was August 15. When the time -- that the -- could trade. You know what draft. But but the deal right now is that kind I think the 49ers have. Have some sort of smoking gun that I don't know exactly what it is. They've got some other smoking done other than what Deion Sanders. You know talked about and development work.

So Peter I loved Watson a Monday night game between the colts in the dolphins. Tremendous game in. You know Peyton Manning looks the same -- have a couple questions where he won. Have the colts changed any of their operation -- Jim Caldwell taking over for Tony Dungy and if so what is it into. What the hell's gonna happen with the Miami and -- to and you see Bill Parcells looking -- there in the press box -- a -- of break down those two teams.

Well what take the second 11. Mean. The dolphins. The reason that the dolphins are in trouble right now and everybody kind of pooh poohed this that the beginning of the year when we started talking about the dolphins' schedule. But look the dolphins are. Are lightly although you know obviously completely gained the dolphins have a good chance this week. The go oh and three now what they Miami goes -- this -- Well I mean then they've got buffalo the -- New Orleans that yet again. And New England. If their next fight game. Now. I mean hats off Tony Sparano if they could take -- stretch like that -- foreign foreign whining get back in is that. The playoff race and -- five under after eight innings but I don't see it. And -- you know that the thing that that bothered me a little bit about how Miami played that game by the way is. How they played perfectly. As the classical -- ball game. You know that Parcells used to play with the giants so I'm when their offense wasn't good enough and he wanted to keep the ball away from. Wherever it was the info out there you know whatever great quarterback it was a time in the cutting. He could play Clark ball with a specimen may get a great job until they with four minutes ago. They were in the ball on the -- six didn't make it had to settle for -- meaning went down and scored the win. You know they had terrible play calling sequence at the end of that game. You ask about Indianapolis. I think Indianapolis is basically the same scene with the same operation. With one exception you know they're bigger on the -- You know when they when Tony Dungy left the you know -- strict -- to the you know it but two kinda coverage sort of went out the window and that and it and the lighter guys on the defensive front -- out the window I mean there. They're twenty pounds 41 pounds. -- year. On the -- defensive front. Right now when they started game and they worry year -- I think that's been a big factor. So far in playing. In in how at least they want played Iran going forward. I had an interesting conversation we have with Dallas Clark. Yesterday and we talked about how Manning. And it is coping sort of without Marvin Harrison and now without any invalid. They told me that was four years. Before he really felt comfortable and yet the same sort of chemistry that -- flash telepathy. We've Manning. And that's what guys like -- and -- peer Ers on -- going through right now and you saw on Monday night. Kept going to Dallas Clark because -- dying Ian Reggie Wayne are -- guys. And I think you're gonna see that early in this these and it's really it's more and more comfortable with -- on Cali but. Again I don't think it colts are really can change all that much except being bigger and trying to be better runs staffers on the.

It was Michael Rosenberg who wrote on your website on SI dot com. That it's possible we've seen the end of the Tom Brady air are there actually people in the NFL who -- thinking that's that's even a possibility.

You know very you know who knows they might be. I'll be -- I mean first of all. I need more than two shaky game with a guy coming up major need surgery. To declare him the go away. I mean it's it's kinda ridiculous. You know that are in that way about a guy. Who's coming off major knee surgery. Any just played it -- it I just tell you this if you play Rex Ryan. Or you play it seemed like the New York Giants if they were healthy which now they're not. You know those teams right now are going to be. Nearly impossible to get a great seats on where you are as an offensive team because they're gonna first somebody changeup that. You know it's like for me. If you're great fastball hitting team and he brought its three hit it in Wakefield. That's possible and after a game like it should be -- boy word flop. -- people just need to relax it's 18 of these and -- quarter. Brady hasn't looked very well I can tell you bunch of other people on that he went and looked very good either where's the consistent path for. I don't see it except on the final series of the buffalo game. And so you know I think we all need if it's a little bit of time before we. Go making rash judgments on anybody hear anything -- wall they'll.

I don't mention it at they've mentioned it at the beginning of the show that the falcons are coming in the falcons were constructed by Thomas to Metropolis of former. Patriots out. How do you think in your opinion Peter -- think he has been able to turn this thing around so quickly because everything he's touched so far. Has worked out from hiring Mike Smith -- drafting Matt Ryan to signing. Michael Turner.

I think two things number one he doesn't listen to. Any voices but his own. And that's the way. You know I think you learn that from Bill Belichick I think you learn that from from Scott Pioli -- you two examples. I was in Atlanta on draft weekend last year and when -- linebackers at the time Michael Boley is now with the giants. After they pick Matt Ryan Foley goes none of -- Meaning big guy on the scene none of us can believe that we pass -- Glenn Dorsey that I'd be Iraq in the and -- defensive line and -- And you know. First of all Glenn Dorsey is done in the city. Second of all Matt Ryan might be Peyton Manning. And I remember that day down in Atlanta. The -- was -- to defend the pick of Matt Ryan heavily. And a local sports anchor told mean and I almost verbatim. That no matter how good Matt Ryan ever is this town will never forgive the falcons for what they did in turning their back -- Michael. So you know that's the kind of stuff he was dealing -- and that was only seventeen months ago could take. And now and they go in and and the first year. They obviously have a real good here -- play off. And if you're in the off season he's got to take five trusted defensive guys. Okay from Dominic Foxworth a solid quarter the lawyer Malloy who was the leader that secondary to Grady Jackson. There they're huge. Run stuffer in the middle of their defensive line and yet that basically get rid of all of for various reasons these are bigger hurt to monitor. You know they they they didn't fit their defensive anymore in the case to Dominic fox were they didn't want -- six or seven million air. So everybody in Atlanta was up in arms about what comes amid profit chosen to do we are. I don't maybe about two weeks ago right before the season's start started and one of the things that Timmy was in this job. Sometimes you have to make unpopular decisions but they're decisions that you know deep down -- right in the -- have to make. And he did that and so what that the falcons right now I mean they've they've allowed 27 points in the first two games in. You know who -- I can't tell you whether their offense. Or whether they're the -- And it is gonna be really good based on. A couple of games over you know a couple of shaky offenses in Miami in Carolina. -- good test for them this weekend but. I just know that you have to have the urge your conviction. And that's what the -- at.
