I actually tried that whole anchorman line here on Monday none of the -- people bought it would mean there's so.
Always a kind of do -- you gotta ask. You know you're answer. You don't ask people you know -- now now if you have to ask and -- they don't know how they don't and you know what even more importantly -- don't care at that point one -- Along here. A without the -- quiet law only the you know. 55 tractor trailer trucks parked outside on the bottle call you after you hung out with Tom Brady the other the other night he didn't seem -- lost my -- think FaceBook. I didn't eat -- to wait for a company and -- I mean you know -- New -- right. I don't know where they went from I can't -- I I I believe that. They went and murder where are now out of -- or Betsy Berger knows.
They displayed their second judge Giants Stadium. There you go right -- ago. The meadowlands of East Rutherford I hate it it it is a lot less hectic around here in that regard you know people like -- are going to be stopped at the door. When when are patriots Friday guys show up but it's a little -- around here without them. The giant. Spaceship in a hole and the end zone.
to lingo that I'm going to with that's five and haven't we have a good time. Have a good feeling about today show in before we start showed sales figure about it on the way now we can already start well but before we get an -- before we get into the -- Forward into the prime rib and potatoes. Of the show in I I think. Oh. There.
Toughness -- Julianne Nicholson got something you want to share with us sir now.
Now at all explosives in them -- unfortunately a lot of things I gotta find another partner. You're used to it I -- out of the product I would make a big deal about that if I was surprised you. That's just the natural order of things in the current view. -- about it discuss last week you know. And I think I have to apologize to you now what now. -- if you are big game games but what what now. Got to say. -- right spot number three this -- right now you're right about. The patriots. And the disdain. All that most people in the United States of America have but it's not you know it is a figured out. There's -- when you said they hate the patriots nose -- why would you hate you know Vince Wilfork went with it hey coach why would you hate Jerod Mayo. I can understand Belichick in and some of these -- people often on the radius capable but I yet he is light you know it is what is. Prettier than everybody else like it might -- but I figured it out you know artists. -- Is just it is a part of it -- resentment. By people this week at a pretty good for a while we had -- going. And in the Red Sox if your baseball fan. You resents the Red Sox and yankees yeah so all the tickets for the Yankees all by themselves enough -- the Red Sox have been going back and forth. And they were the people present the ESPN coverage of Red Sox yankees -- fox coverage yeah yeah -- Red Sox yankees they they resented the -- Celtics came back in a big way and now they're getting a lot of attention I think people would just tired of hearing about. Boston.
Web site and -- plus now that's good point I think that you make it is so you're right it's a more general sort of it's not just the patriots but they're part of it it's not just the Red Sox but they're part of it. Like there's -- disdain for the Bruins out there. -- I mean -- I don't -- away layers about the bro and -- today when it -- start -- in hand you know it if they follow in the same path that the Celtics have been on. The ceremonial hate them too. So -- Right I didn't. Now what I brought you this a -- and you know some sometimes they ought to definitely come -- at what happened. Who told -- something that some then down at a whole lot more sense to you that when I was saying a lot.
It made sense that I think about that Joe's gonna go back and I listened to shows and news about this Michael about it should think about is themselves scouting. And dale Barlow guy makes. Sometimes there is a national guy who loves the patriots Michael there's. Yet their problem.
I like the patriots in his came to and I just think that they're no good football teams don't lose two games in a row. And.
Man. You open -- of scouting till your endorsements got a big game -- has been all over NFL playbook. Getting some sterling Sharpe from new sterling Sharpe.
Tom Brady look different without Wes Welker so it looks like an offense that has to have all its parts to be able to click and also.
The now what makes me really afraid is that -- that athlete but I thought they were listed as -- at play and that just ally in me feel like with them. It makes me wanna reassess my career -- The guys that drastic I think my gut feeling is that Welker gonna play this weekend. He was limited practice yesterday but he was out there. I don't know what his participation will be at practice today my guess is it'll be listed as limited but I think he'll be out there. And I just I. This defense just didn't scare me anyway it it you know what if Welker didn't like. I might like how the patriots offense will perform this weekend what scares the hell out of me is whether -- the -- can hold the Atlanta offense in check. And we say which part of the offered scares you the most. Is it is at the running game that adult Michael is now it's it's Matt Ryan in and and more than anything else Tony Gonzales this time and now. It may be at -- Thomas whose. Given the unenviable task of try to hold Tony Gonzales down while physically he has the size to take on Gonzales. Does any linebacker in the NFL have the ability to hang with Gonzales on a regular basis. Know. That's why they won't they won't -- alarm Akron while not. They might occasionally depending on coverage or play but the other got as a regular dose title.
You know at this guy is this guy is he's big wide receiver yet a very vague idea it is not -- in column item if you wanna play that position. And I know we try to make that case. Long before Scott Pioli took over Kansas City. He can make that case to achieve -- management I'm really a receiver. Playing tight end yeah it can -- to get paid like receipt of like a receiver not like tied it. And achieved it by admits -- it's a tough argument to make when you say your position is tied -- but that the fact is he has. Yeah the big receiver kick block if you really want it to. In of the team really -- him do it the team doesn't want to do it and take advantage and a right right he's got great hands. He may have the best hands of any tight -- of football. He may have middle of the pack hands when you say anybody receiving the ball and it in football. Tight ends backs receivers he's in the middle of the pack. Probably toward that you probably in the top fifteen top twenty he's that good so he does present some challenges for the defense it's going to be pretty. Pretty scary deal with -- watching somebody try to do in the entire.
Jerious Norwood I think chances are wont be able to play this weekend. Wasn't able to practice again yesterday. Hasn't been able to practice yet this week he's the backup to Michael Turner but the guy who's gotta spell -- from time to time in and give them blow. You know with him being unavailable I guess Jason Snelling would move up on the depth chart but Michael -- the horse he's the big guy back there. And I think the patriots have shown me at least they showed me last week against. Two really good running backs they may be able to do the job against the running game Matt Ryan Ryan throwing the football scares me. Well.
They did the job against Thomas Jones and Leon Washington. Neither guy presents some challenges that Michael Turner -- us. I mean this is not you know Michael Turner's I want of these dancing backs and I always so quick I don't know how we can catch up with them he's just a big powerful guy. -- who's gonna they'll keep giving the ball but keep giving him the ball. Can he Guinea where the patriots down can they deal with him. It the one guy is probably not going to be able to bring them down. So. This is this is gonna be a good test for the linebackers. It's going to be good test for the defensive lines you've taken deal with the Atlanta off with a line that committed to. I think that the jets. The jets had a more of a and they ran the ball they ran thirty times. And then they would they'd throw some passes and their two. If if the if the patriots. If they like they've except now Michael Turner for half. It's like it's the the the falcons again just gonna start on a ball all over the place. Come back to the third quarter -- a -- to -- a fourth quarter unless it's clearly -- by 28 points. Can they deal with a back like this. For the entire game because they haven't face when all year. You know if Fred Jackson gives you problems and it happens. And and you -- you're concerned about Thomas Jones neither of those guys. Is on that level just in terms of physically as Michael Turner he's no load. And he gets better he can give the ball gets.
Better. I think the patriots offense is gonna performed fairly well this weekend the weather without Welker but I think Welker is going to be a part of it. As I mentioned yesterday I think the going to be able to run the football the Atlanta defense is giving up a 120 yards per game rushing in. Two wins against 20 in two teams. More importantly to me is that they're giving up an average of five yards per rush. I think that the patriots would have committed this game with a commitment -- a stronger commitment to the running game anyway. After getting away from -- my opinion prematurely last weekend. And I think you'll see some guys will talk to Fred Taylor about it you know what and he'll give us all the platitudes about -- good -- running the fences but. I think Fred Taylor could be a huge part of what happens here Sunday.
I just Fred Taylor about how about Laurence Maroney yeah. About Kevin Faulk who understand what's going on -- you know I picked up I don't own. I. I can't tell -- Hope you got he's not you know tweaked again or -- like that not a I don't think that's I don't think so either I don't I don't know I don't know what is what his role as. Another thing. As I was self scouting last night -- Of secure about our conversation. Regarding -- Toms yeah. And you said you're disappointed yes I said that might be my fault maybe my expectations were to grant I hears the word we're looking for. Disruptive. Not necessarily. I don't think anybody thought he was going to be a franchise linebacker. With the patriots but he's going to be one of the top five linebackers in the NFL.
But we did I know I did I expected him to be a disruptive linebacker -- And he hasn't -- that's what it is. It and that's why that's why you're disappointed. And I think I'm disappointed to overall just looking at what I thought he was going to be. You want a guy who is you know you have to account for at all masterly game plan for. And yet to change your whole operation because the details Thomas Hamas and that. But what he's on the field. He can just blow up a play he can totally destroy which are trying to do. If you like drawn to the -- and over the middle. You say we cannot do that consistently because this guy is there you know you like running up the middle. Or are running to the edge you say we can't do that consistently because this -- there he hasn't been. And so I think that's where the district disappointment comes from.
Well he could be a big part of the game plan this weekend and as we said the patriots even when they were really really good had issues covering you know. -- tight ends. You know we go back to them in the loss in the AFC championship. And -- just seems like tight ends have always given the patriots fits Thomas could be a big part of that because this might be the best tight end -- ever face.
Because the best tight end though bill face this year I'm sure he he will be. Between Gonzales and Tony not Tony Clark Tony Clark Dallas Clark. The Gonzales might be the best because he's that good. My prediction is that they want now I'm back from a.
You're you're asking an awful lot of a linebacker if you do it seems an awful lot to make it won't be. We will will mean what we got a lot of things were gonna do today it is patriots Friday were at Gillette that means we'll talk to our our normal patriots Friday guys. A Logan Mankins and -- opened usually kind of stopped by together and we kind of -- them and then later on I'd probably after practice Fred Taylor will join us here in the studio I love talking to him. And and will do a lot of football -- them but baseball is not off our radar screen in fact. Will touch on that ninety seconds from now we'll open up the lines will bring you guys in and just couple minutes. It's dale and -- Sports Radio WB the Atlanta Falcons coming with a.
running game young Matt Ryan -- around very well.
