Truthfully I've been -- a long time okay I mean you know. Long standing marriage same woman lots of kids relationship you know pretty strong. Seriously man. You you might mean. You might be a professional. Photographer burger. Who hasn't -- It's an incredible pictures. A little. It's a great great photos of these and you catch in right got an hour -- and I is that fair just or can't. -- for Sunday night can't carve out our other -- today and I eat it's what friends though. Natalie Soviet republic you know -- credit show me pictures. And as show pictures he played music for. Law and did -- eat that apple. The -- James -- about the game day of this frankly very broad. And I was more interested in you know doing things for the show than paying attention on line. Burger presentation with a great presentation -- I appreciated it. And if you -- charged -- I would have paid I'm glad you didn't charge me but. That's something 83 to five dollars that.

We see it on chronicle later this -- picture of all sound track in the slide show and all that stuff. I think last night's Red Sox game in Kansas City with interest thing for a couple reasons one. You know obviously you want Josh Beckett to be good he wasn't good last night but he was okay. And I and I love the fact that three had a tough inning he got his feet back under on. And and stop the bleeding unlike or hold shaped bar who you know breezed through five and then in the sixth the wheels fell -- But I think without sayings and stuff Terry Francona settle oddest off last. There were a lot of messages being sent there were as there was a lot of indications. But the future here. One and and I don't think this means that you won't see Jason Varitek catch in the playoffs. I think if you do you might only see him once.

make sense doesn't president makes little sense -- I think it's it's significant for our. Maybe maybe for Jason Varitek and -- among hardcore. Loyalists in the clubhouse. Who want him to play no matter what despite the numbers despite the overwhelming evidence. That the team is better when Victor Martinez is and there. And they can get Michael lol and there and Kevin Youkilis in there at the same -- that's that's the better team for the Red Sox. It's significant for those people who we're starting to realize. That if the Red Sox are playing well into October. They'll be doing it -- Victor Martinez. Catching primarily and Jason Varitek coming into. The cleanup not necessarily the pinch hit but.

Well that's what I -- replacements are times what I think might happen based on what I saw last night and the messages I'm getting from Terry Francona based on on last. I think that. Everybody says all you got one and one -- what difference does that make here is why it matters who starts game. Because in the short five game series he would also start game five. So you decide which guy do you want starting potentially two games for yet in the hailed the I think he's decided it's going to be back. I think Varitek will catch game one. You've got a deciding game five would back on the mound Jason Varitek not gonna be and why would -- that cat's game one and I'm just guessing I'm I'm only guessing. I think he'll catch you'll catch one. Make -- you know you figure you've got an offense I mean and there's number one unfortunately. We personally think back it's going to be good and and hope he's going to be good and you think Varitek gives him a better chance to be good. The comments from Terry today about Beckett you know he's a stubborn kid. You know some people now have a comfort level with a certain catcher and I think he's that way. I think he's gonna exceed -- to back its preferences in game one. What if there's a deciding game five Beckett doesn't get his pinkie. By the Victor Martinez would catch game five you would which are better lineup out there. And and I think that's what you saw last night I think gives an indication that -- it's gonna start games one and potentially five. And that Varitek will catch game one but not game five.

Let let let me ask you this did you ever have any doubt that. Jason Varitek wouldn't be the primary catcher in the playoffs gym rat that ever have any doubt that Victor Martinez is going to be the man.

Well I I I had questions about. I I think Terry has such a respect level for for Jason Varitek and and look he's earned it I'm not suggesting that he. He shouldn't have such -- respect level. I I think that this is a hard one form now Terry's okay with making these hard decisions you've seen him pinch hit for Varitek. You've seen bear attacked more and more relegated to the backup role. I think it makes an interesting offseason discussion says I'm not sure you bring Ameritech back to be to back up the Victor Martinez but that's.

I'll -- and another I don't advocate is to a and we talked about that before but the yes I agree with you Terry Francona has a lot of respect for his veteran players guys who have done things form. It if it were up to Terry Francona. You have a situation like he had with the patriots. Is that this is this is the difference. Between may be is baseball football maybe it's even more than a specific Bill Belichick and Terry Francona. If Terry Francona have a guy like Richard Seymour. Who has won him championships and has been a huge part of their success. It is time to say goodbye. It would not be done over the phone and it wouldn't be done and a 32 company that I felt right so that. But he's he's not that guy right that's not what he believes then -- that that's Bill Belichick decides to do it that way maybe that's how. Every team president football I'm not sure I don't agree with that I think it's the wrong way to do -- somebody. Was really taking you to the height of your career but. Yes Terry Francona does believe. The guy should be respected but he also. Believes in putting the best team on the field. And it's clear. I mean it's not even a really good debate. Between Victor Martinez and and Jason Varitek.

And and even if you make the argument and I am fine if you if you do. The Varitek calls better game he's a better defensive catcher I agree with both those things always -- out way. The overall gain you have with the lineup that you saw last night. You know when you get J. D. Drew hit may eighth. You're pretty thick to use Terry Francona Sturm Europe better team you grind teams better you -- batter. And the drop off defensively to Victor Martinez is not like is gulf. You know where he's got behind the plate you're gonna almighty god just don't throw it to me and it's not like that. It's just not as good defensively as Varitek in my opinion but they're so much better the team is so much better.

Martinez is catching now as far as the lineup is concerned I don't think any team in the playoffs don't care who you are. I don't think any team is good enough where that where they they can go to the playoffs and say well. We're good one through eight and -- obviously the American regatta went through eight. Outlook will give away at out at at nine but we're so good everywhere else and so strong that it won't hurt us. I mean how many times have we seen it over and over and over make the same mistakes will probably make the same mistakes again. We get the playoff previews right before game one will get a team. Semantic and on base percentage look at the the amount of -- they got they got four guys who hit twenty home runs they got this they got that. I think they're the best team and then that lineup as great as it is well not necessarily be shut down. But will be 20% of what it was in the regular season because you're you're facing out that the best of the best so I I I I I don't I don't think they can afford to do that.

And I think there's another part of this that's that that goes along with what you're saying I agree with you completely. The key to the Red Sox lineup is not affected J. D. Drew is batting eight. It's the fact that the guy who's hitting ninth this so much better than you expected offensively. I mean you're getting so much more you don't have this black hole at nine. Down there with Alex Gonzales he's performed better than anybody could have fought since he's come on board here the black hole -- today when Varitek was -- That's where the hole was and Gonzales was was coming be -- I mean the numbers are in the paper today you can see them since the All-Star break since August 1. I mean you look at the offensive numbers for Jason Varitek and they don't exist. I mean it it it is the same is if you had a picture hitting and that's spot in fact some pictures would be better.

Right in it was funny to hear Ken Rosenthal say the other day. That. Orlando Cabrera was one of the worst off with the players in all of baseball and you look at his numbers and numbers. If if you look at the man and 11 of our emailers who went with the OPS that OPF plus and saying his number one wasn't that high of probably you know ten from the bottom or something like that -- that's fine. Where does Jason Varitek rank compared to Orlando Cabrera. We looked it up could be lower or orbit or equal. Somewhere it somewhere and that somewhere in that neighborhood went across the advance that yeah you might be right I -- But I but I -- a question for you on the other side and in ninety seconds haven't. A question for -- ninety seconds that relates to. The Red Sox. In their weakness is going to the policies. To question boys and girls don't try this and don't try to -- for this man is a trained professional.
