D&H Preview Pats-Jets

Rex Ryan idea. Head coach of the NY jays and getting ready to host the New England Patriots this on it. Actually like what Rex Ryan is doing I love that I actually and I'm not talking about because I'm a talk show host any I am saying. Why the hell wouldn't you wanna instill -- your team's head that hate. Can beat these guys when this thing and why what widget -- all around and I don't know how we're gonna do this I don't know yet. --

Like the bravado I don't think it mean anything once the game starts but is this is just pure entertainment it's it's kind of like. You don't boxing and boxing used to have this and people used to pay attention to it now. There's lots of bravado on boxing and not as many eyes on the participants as it were in the past ever remember you'd have fighters to two of them stand in the air. They have a joint press conference and they just talk about each other on but I do this tomorrow knock them on the third round. I wanna make -- call my name on the make and do this this this in this and then there's a lot of excitement around it and then get the fight and nobody really cares. What by the third or fourth round nobody's thinking about what happened in the press conference I think with Rex Ryan he's just he's like if -- Don King is a fight promoter he's. He is generating a lot of talk and a lot of interest in this game. What do you think anybody's gonna be taken about in the first quarter. I'm midway through the second quarter is is -- Thomas going to be thinking about Rex Ryan's words.

No but I'll also say this if the patriots beat the jets on Sunday. You'll hear stuff post game from the patriots about Rex Ryan and the kissing of the rings the patriots are not gracious winners a lot of times they take this stuff. What they perceive to be slights and most of the time they're perceived -- not real ones and they store them up and they still want them and they chew on them and and that after the game. They say stuff you know and and in that regard I can respect that they don't talk before the game they talk after if the patriots beat the jets Sunday. People say something about -- say. You know maybe should kiss the ring EIB it'll be some smart Aleck. Offhand comment.

But they'll say something and I I don't know I don't think so I mean who's gonna say it. Me this is what sort of things. Where is you know the this is not a leadership issue but just veterans that. There there are certain veterans you'd expect from you'd expect Rodney to say something after the game you'd expect -- the game Teddy Teddy would -- it's -- I always like had to come up but the rule where can't you can't plan the snow anymore remembrance -- that about. Who's gonna say it now. Brady's activists say anything. Ready bosses are gonna say anything after.

Brady probably won't and and it will. Will likely if if it happens at all -- right it'll likely be a player of the -- somebody will step button in space on the event's. You know maybe it'll be point like maybe it'll be Brandon meriwether you know maybe it James Sanders that much -- that probably won't be him of quarterbacks economic formulas. You know for Austin and and we like holidays that we like there -- swagger in their not always the the most gracious of winners like that. They make it up or they'd they'd find it they would unless it came here to kiss Bill Belichick that'll range narratives well. -- on one hand they say the media reports don't matter what you guys say it doesn't matter you never played the game and and -- talking about but then they would go out and look for those. Articles from people who don't know what they're talking about saying. Of the colts -- the best team in football the charges the most talented team football the patriots. Don't have a lot of ability it's all about the head coach the players are just Joe's. And then they would use that as motivation I'll update this I'm so excited though for this game. I'm excited for it for jets patriots I don't think it's gonna be a playoff game. By any stretch but I think the jets. Our are pretty good team not a great team pretty good. And is going to be a nice challenge for the patriots going there trying to trying to knock off this team. It has a new defensive scheme and do it and doing it in their house.

I will say this about Ryan and how he handles things than it is certainly the of the opposite end of the spectrum from from Bill Belichick. But I I like the swagger like he -- I like I like the fact that in his team he's trying to instill. Okay you can play what these guys. I think that Ryan at some point or another down the road will give goaded into doing something really down verbally. You know -- he'll get goaded up Belichick has been goaded in the past but he just doesn't he just doesn't rise to debate.

If you think got to get in the states company doesn't wanna say you're crazy now he will say something. If he wants to say something. So he wanted to get that out there but right now we don't wanna say anything to -- that in any.

And he's not going to be goaded I mean it it's like there it's amateur hour when they try they tried again yesterday during the conference call the New York media. I would love to know if it was the same guy who was asking about the Brady injury report. I'd I'd love to know it's the same guy who just keeps trying to CP get under Belichick's yen at some point or another. Rex Ryan will somebody will get under -- yeah. He can't help himself thinks -- telling he well I N and you know out in the same way you can get body don't want. I don't know rob like you do but my understanding is you get him go a little bit if you want to somebody will get Rex -- you'll say something that he'll regret at some point. And and he will be goaded into a place he doesn't wanna go Belichick will never be go to.

We'll see and I hope you're right because whatever if if Rex Ryan says company doesn't wanna say. To be something that we all wanna hear it it it fun to be really entertaining.

One quick football story before way open lines of -- you guys and you see this story out of Nashville. The late Steve McNair is two young sons and eleven year old Trenton and five year old Tyler. Are at school at a place called Saint Paul Christian academy. And at the beginning of every school year saint Paul's Christian academy has what what is called a dear dad's breakfast. At a local restaurant in and the young people of the school bring their dads to breakfast at the restaurant where you can imagine. The angst that this was causing. Eleven year old Trenton and five year old Tyler. The sons of the slain Steve McNair. Well they obviously couldn't have their data breakfast. They had Vince Young. Vince Young said. I'm like Big Brother to these kids. This guy was my friend he was my mentor. He went to the dear -- With Steve McNair is to sound as good and that's a good story and he did the stuff that their data unfortunately couldn't do for them. I I I really like what are very young did yesterday and good for him. And I guess from what I understand. You can't you show up if your you know Vince Young -- in Nashville when -- show opened an event like this. So he sat sign every autograph and brought T shirts and jerseys or whatever all the kids in. At least for a day he was able to help too young kids gonna get over the fact that.

Arts that's that's an incredible story a really good story for prevents young guy. Who has had is at least publicly has had some it appeared in outlook had some emotional issues some some maturity issues. That's a very mature of very thoughtful gesture on his part is very cool.
