You know cable TV got to be more specific -- can be like they can't get it couldn't beat 3:30 or 4 o'clock in the afternoon had to be about you know 10 o'clock 1030. Run around on throughout slot. To really make it happen. But you know it really watching -- fired up about baseball yesterday honestly we want to -- Both. But. I was fascinated watching Lester yesterday. I was not fast one I was not fascinated watching baseball yesterday obviously. You know -- we do that it got a -- in the baseball and football. That was more fired up about football yesterday's surprise surprise a week one of the football season verses. Winding down the regular season Red Sox rays and the rays. Have just given up. They they have they have quit on the C I know you're exactly right equipped and and now how about this they don't they don't show their use. At all last year and win close games. -- days they compete in July. Before the All-Star break after the All-Star break. Into August into September in the American League Championship Series they get the World Series and apparently. Philadelphia's sets and out of five games that you don't see any. Bouts of youth if I can -- and coined that phrase but. Now you can see the yield of the raised they have no opportunity of making the playoffs and that quit on the season. Carlos Penn is out for the here like the minute yet CC sabathia pitched it Carlos Pena is finger that's it we're gonna just set. So you know you watch and a team that is given up they've -- eleven consecutive games. Now. It's a -- they've underperformed. At 72 and 71. Odd thought they would take a step back this year and I didn't think it was going to be -- three team race in the American League east hasn't been. But. I I didn't think they step all the way back to 500. And it they're not careful that opens the season under apartment. I so.

To meet what was fascinating for me what I really wanted to say. And I'd love to be an. It took some courage on the part apparel and Francona to say you know what we're bringing him right back on Sunday. And he was a man on a mission I want to see how we perform under the circumstances. And he was just.

And believe you really think it's a -- that took courage to bring a -- to bring a guy back after 24 pitches in fort -- well it it's 24 pitchers in the game but -- you know. I mean hold warmup process yet you know what but I think there was something really interesting. And we should ask you -- about this to get some more inside they're so open interest thing you said. Last week when we're talking to him. And I get the sense that. Like tension is not the right word. Maybe a healthy difference of opinion when it comes to pitch -- US -- about pitch counts. If he gets a low rankled he gets a little Mike here we go though he's not a guy who likes. Talking about pitch counts a lot not -- understands. The needs of the modern pitcher and know what you have to do to preserve every pitch every possible -- and an arm. But I don't think he has a flat out pitch count guys so if if it's just a matter of getting Jon Lester ready for a start he throws 24 pitches in the game. I don't think Tito is one of those guys gonna say well that's 24 pitches plus what he threw for a warm ups. That's what we we can't bring about.

I think laughter thought when he went to the dugout Lester thought he had just lost to start. UP it was obvious by his reaction he thought major -- through -- his starts and he was steamed about. I don't thinking it was he went to the dugout there -- bring him back on Sunday. And I'm sure that conversation took place fairly soon after he got in that dugout in the clubhouse but. I was very curious to see how he was gonna respond and how we responded was like makes. You respondent like an eight.

Plus but but is not a surprise -- and here's the guy we've been talking about a for the last few weeks he's. He's pitched like the top pitcher on the Red Sox he's pitched like a guy. Who if the Red Sox hold onto this lead -- up by Ford now on the Rangers. In a wildcard race hold onto his lead. Jon Lester is a guy that you'd you wanna get the ball to for game one of the series.

You won't but you wouldn't mind you might I don't think so I think Terry Francona will start Josh Beckett in game one I think there is a certain. Decorum that has to be followed here and Lester I think would have no problem and if if they did that I think he understands. Value you've earned a certain. Certain respect level.

And the three guys you watched pitch over the weekend they are locked via. In whatever order Terry puts the men that's fine or is completely up in the air I think they're counting on it being Daisuke. Why do you think three is locked and I think buckles is locked in as the third starter here railing and I don't mean as I -- I don't know what order absolutely their. There three starters that they know going into the playoffs. No no questions asked Beckett Lester and buckle.

Well that the reason I guess I'm just not as like I think clay buckles has done a great job and we've talked about it before he's the guy who is pitching like someone you'd you'd trust in the post season. Competitive game and it wasn't. They show everything I thought I was I was shocked at how bad Houston looked. Almost say is three people -- yesterday I had told you I don't. Yesterday -- NFL Sunday we tried to -- well. That the jets the jets are not a bad team. Even though they got a rookie quarterback you're not a bad team they won nine games last year. I don't like them I didn't like him yesterday and I'd like the season. I think they're gonna take a big step backwards here. And I know that the Bill Parcells back -- you talked about yesterday and and I have the utmost respect for how he you know builds his team.
