Wow and and it really is stunning considering what we've seen over the course of the past two -- rain played havoc with both Friday and Saturday. They managed to get Saturday in so at least there's some semblance of ordering that they're pitching plans are intact for today. Indeed they were able to to dodge a bullet there hasn't been too much destruction based on all the rain in fact you know with yesterday's game having been shortened. They got -- in some ways a bit of a break because they didn't have to use anyone in their bullpen. It's -- have a full complement of arms available to them. For the two games tonight we only got five plus innings of a look at Josh Beckett but that was a pretty good luck and a guy who seem like he continues to trained in the right direction absolutely and the fastball command was terrific you could see the four seam fastball that he was executing blown away. -- host the two seam fastball that was -- in at left handers men back out over the plate. Not you know not inevitable position but instead you know freezing left handed batters. -- he threw he he threw a couple of nice curve balls and you know was very effective in and on balancing the race. It was it was a difficult it is difficult difficult conditions in which to be able to command like that to be able to execute pitches like that. Because it was kind of -- throughout but it -- he he did a terrific job and so. Even in and day in which the Red Sox explode for nine runs that was through the highlight for them. Quick thought on wade Davis before -- moved past last night he looked like young pitcher young pitcher with good stuff for the young pitcher whose second time through got tagged pretty good absolutely he was pitching to avoid contact in the early going in very effectively so to shutout innings to started. But he got an elevated pitch count well as blocking some guys. I think he was up what around what sixty pitches or something threw two innings. And then in the third inning all of a sudden. The wheels came off when he did pitch to contact a little bit in. You know it wasn't like he got hit all over the ballpark I mean these were a bunch of singles they've done it -- just found their way into into an eight run rally for the most part. But nevertheless you know you expect that with you. You mentioned -- a moment ago. Not only did they catch the break -- no need no need to the bullpen last night but the catch it again because there's an off day tomorrow it's their last off day but as far as timing goes. They really have everybody available today and don't even need to worry about saving something for a game on Monday yeah in some ways they need to get guys into the game from the bullpen today in order to keep them fresh coming out of that off day. That won't be too much of a concern by Wednesday or Thursday but. That they are there in terrific shape and that's that's a testament both to the way in which things developed with the rain out with them having. Everyone fresh and available for today. And it's also you know they also enjoy it just a really good position going into a double -- I mean. This is -- case and a double -- is more than anything else test the depth of -- of the bullpen and this is an instance in which the Red Sox can have a taxi squad available for the -- for the second game. And they have some really really good arms that are capable of of being in a position to close out games mean. You know you can use if they are in position to win both games Papelbon can close out one game and you can have. You know a Wagner or no Okajima or a bar -- Saito available. As the closer in the other game. I'm -- their compliments of arms is something that will help them over the course of the day you figure and you look the lead now in the wildcard standings to to three over the Texas Rangers it's uncanny that the weather situation in Arlington Texas almost exactly near the one in Boston Massachusetts but. They end up with a cancellation. Rain delays and a double -- today same exact schedule if ever there was such a thing as they just storm front store -- across the nation and this was it I mean this is. Remarkable in and absurd. -- never ranking that's in Texas. But -- but nevertheless there are there're issues of -- does that happen in Boston.
