I feel sorry for Richard Seymour you talk about -- from the penthouse to the out house would you be depressed if you found yourself in his situation. You know on nice new house -- going to school winning organization a chance to win every single game a chance to go to the simple Super Bowl every single season. And now you're going to Oakland where it got no shot.

that aren't sure about guys don't feel they have no. You know thing things change very fat and they change. -- for all of us and whether they came from me quite a bit last year at the first regular seat in the Richard Richard. They change for died this past weekend. And and the reality you gotta learn to adjust and and that's just the way businesses. This spoke well it is is unconditional love you know it is in Syria. It's it's tough for a lot of weight could develop the relationships between teammates. And and your friends and families and they spend more on what these guys and then with -- And you know -- like Richard -- And so much the organization -- have been here for. Court on this night these and increased three championships and yeah it -- captive and he is wonderful person though. You know he's he's he's a professional and knows that and he works. He worked very hard he's gonna bring a lot that organizations so much it won't miss that they're getting -- did a great player.

And you have a locker room full professionals there are so -- nobody in a vacuum and in a perfect world. But this won't have an effect on how guys go about their job. But in the real world -- in the real world that locker room. New personnel moves like this that hit at the heart. A lot of relationships in captaincy and leadership and all those kinds of things affect the way players play and feel about an organization.

Well everybody in a different situation. In the locker room and and I think when you subscribe -- it being a part of the scene you'd subscribe to what's in the best interest of and my role -- as a quarterback is not to make personnel move that's not. You know determine whether personal mover right for the team or not -- my -- which opened the best I can. I think it. That's that's really stressed that a and and that's how it report that's -- ever but he job. And that's a question -- one write the check -- you rather have a lot of they have much. And and it's it's a different reality I think for -- athletes because. You know aren't our life we've been the ones that. Yeah athletes on the team but you know when you get the professionals. Like in the college. To a degree but still we -- the best players are -- and also that. It's it's just that very different. Environment it's that that the professional.

We're all were all concerned. That's our goal for the team goals and and at the same time you've got to understand what's best for the team isn't always what's best -- You're as a player. And it's it's it's it's the real fine line because you want -- feel that commitment in the loyalty to the team. But you better understand it doesn't go both ways and that's okay because you know -- a lot of it is well and I think having the opportunity to -- opportunities to play.

And improve as a player. Little things that. Have been in this situation that we are with the patriot it's. -- it's -- more accurately four.

You know I was stunned when -- when I heard the news of the from the computer I couldn't believe it most patriots fans were stunned and wonder and Tom how did you react how -- for -- how'd you find out. And what was your initial reaction when you heard the news.

Well I I got I got a call from from -- Copeland was that the stadium I was I was driving down he. He told me so you know we we as players we. You know we -- just too so.

It's it's. I guess they don't surprise me anymore because -- here for for so long. It's. It's kind of like -- you know that that wasn't it it was really unexpected and I think. It would probably unexpected for all of us because you know Richard spit out they're debating -- start beginning in. You know but like -- said that's. That's that's not -- that we folk art we're not worried about the 53 man roster we're worried about you know it would look I'd do. To be prepared to help team to win and -- those of the -- decision that every coach has. 32 coaches across the league that has really tough decision to end this that this thing in the order of the code that.

I said this earlier Tom I don't think of those 32 coaches. I don't think there's another one that would make this move I mean they are as coaches there are only concerned about the next game. And you're trading a player starter a Pro Bowl for a future pick you up and down the road and it just seems like something. That most coaches would need to consider and you always speak highly. Of well check is this one of the reasons the fact that he has the guts and the foresight to make a move like this.

Yeah and I think coach coach Belichick there's. He's he's he's he's an incredible -- and he's an incredible motivated and he's able to get everybody to buy and so what what is desperate and I think over the years. I'd gained so much confidence in what he does because they turn out right you know that. The decision to turn out right what he says usually happens when they're on the field or off the when it's an off these government. It's you know in -- and we have we have -- river from the Celtics committed talk thirteen net today which was really fascinating. And and I think they coach Belichick. You know it is different type of coach and -- but they both by way to motivate. The players and and in order to buy into. You know that that incompetent and and that's. I think every player that comes to working they'd they'd buy in pretty quickly is because it works and and it's there's things that are frustrating at times of Albion apart a bit but in the end of the day. When I've seen a lot of players leave the organization and not be productive that they were -- here and I think -- couple other organizations that become. Much more productive than they've ever been so that tells me that. Even though I haven't had the chance to be another organization and know how coach Belichick -- team and how mr. crown prince of franchise. You know they've they've figured they figure they got the track record they got it right.

And yet you still have to overcome what everybody believes to be true in fact I don't think anybody enough -- silly talk including coach Belichick. Thinks the team is better today getting ready for opening night Monday night than you were before Richard was traded but what you have to do I guess what you're saying. Is buying into the long term viability of what they're doing. You've already won three Super Bowls this is to keep you competitive and at the upper Echelon in the NFL for years and years to come -- I suppose that's sort of still when when when your in the moment trying to win a game and Richard Seymour is not going to war with you that's a little tough to swallow until you look at the big pictures out about it.

Yeah and that's that. That's that's every year I mean you lose a player like. It's that have been -- certain guys but they like and great effort. You know -- an incredible. Player -- and you know two Super Bowls without great blocker. You know good in the passing game and and you know but the reality is if you sign -- back then you can't afford another. And and I. So yes you are losing. You know. All of a great player on offense probably. You're gaining some other great players on defects but so they're that the reality is we're try to win every you know we're trying to win game you know and not have that. Most prolific offense -- not not have. The that they do is that the least amount -- You know because you've got -- exactly got to make trades in every year you're. Some of the strength of your team become not as strong and the weaknesses become stronger self. You can that's why we always say you know you can't compare year to year because every year there's different strengths weaknesses. And how our offense will compare this year as composed as the compared with last year there's going to be differences I mean we may not be as productive. As we were last year. Offense but maybe what a better defense and win just as many games hopefully more games or vice Versa so. The goal to win a game and that's not and that's why you know the stats and all that you know that. It's it's fun to talk about but you know -- you you've got to win the game.

Because they don't have the experiences and I did it's well it's certainly you know it's it's very you can replace Tedy Bruschi right here Larry is I -- can't I mean it. But like -- there's there's got to be what what we -- and leadership maybe we have to make up for another place. While on the way you have to allow other people. Improve their leadership abilities like. -- billion. -- I I I I was the -- Leadership it is extremely important. Because he's set the example especially for younger players because -- got a player you know. The reality is they don't have the experiences so it's hard for them always make good decisions. Whether it's on the field or off the field because everything's so new to them where. We you know we hear an older player and earn a -- you know you don't and then make very many bad decision. And hopefully you can pose. You know some some wisdom and leadership on. Those players that haven't had the experiences that won't baby look if you identify with some things you went through it. Keep them from. Making some of the things that although that's pretty where.

What did that what did Doc Rivers had to say you guys come.

He was great he was great I could spell it's Erica. Code that coach rivers that could go to brought him indicating that you know guys goat herders who has played. At the top of the perfection. They have like 14000 people show up -- they're going to -- the -- If they want -- you know here we didn't. You know so it's it's sold out for you know being in the every night so. It's. That's why it's great place and that's where voter that's a great source of motivation for our team and for the Celtics the Red -- and the support they get. So. If it's it's a special place that we plan and I know we don't take it for granted. That's pretty off.

It comes a practical matter how do Doc Rivers words translate into something of value for the knowing the patriots as you get ready to open the season.

Well he's although kind experiences. So that that's what they're younger player and work from older player or from the coaches are from. You know things that he says that now that he's -- coach he wishes. He would've known as the player. You know and and I think a big thing thought that was just missed that a coach you know if they say it because. You know that's what they see and that's what they want and.

It I think if a player you'd think sometimes the coaches -- in -- really insightful but that the coaches are on your side. You know what you realize. The coaches and the players were on the same -- You know it's he created different experience and -- and for the guys. And you aren't they know that but you know -- it's. The coaches and player pit stop the coaches that are not playing you're. You don't like to roll on the scene but when you understand that this is what they're looking. For you do get the best out of the entire group that you buy into that and your world to do whatever it.

On the subject of environment is that a coincidence or just good fortune or something more designed. That we don't see the police blotter.
