It's the Red Sox -- from Saint Petersburg this is their Herb Chambers -- be Buick money at pregame show. And it's time for the clubhouse insider rob we spent the better part of our conversation last night talk it about Josh Beckett. And I guess we got a glimpse of both Burke versions of Beckett last night the one that's been giving up home runs in the one that suddenly found his control and started. Executing that control the bottom and the strike zone.

The really we really -- through different pitches out there last night in. I talked to Josh poll earlier today and this talk a little bit about his outing and he said. -- in the bottom line is that if you pitched zone and you hit the spots. Then you're going to be successful and he was certainly in the last couple innings. In fact he told -- good stories said basically. The only time I can ever remember where I actually hit my spot and someone get a hit was 2006 Vernon Wells so I think that. Pretty much tells the story. That if you hit great if you throw you want to throw and you do with a pitch you want to do what you're going to be successful. Again said I think he did that last couple innings if that's what you take that start.

Which leads us into a very interest in pitching matchup tonight too young pitchers Clay Buchholz who seemed to turn. A bit of a quarter in his last outing clearly his best stop the year against David Price we all know how talented but young left interests.

Yeah I agree with -- colds I find this fascinating his evolution especially with a two seam fastball. Talking to him yesterday about it it was interesting because if you look at him he's become a ground ball pitcher yet more ground balls than any pitcher on the Red Sox staff last year. But also because the through seam fastball he's become more much more economical. You've you've limited pitches that he said yeah he's getting one -- two pitch at bats instead of 56 pitches at bats and that's because he's been through contact and in the ground balls and he says that he wasn't able to throw the two seam fastball what you want in the minors because the ball was different. When he got back -- to the majors almost on the kind of clicked and became an effective pitch form. And that's really translated into last few starts although he did have.

Nine strikeouts last time out that's the by far the highest strikeout total he had. That was one of the things and that everybody was concerned about when he first came up as that he wasn't getting the swings and misses the last time out to get a whole bunch of swings in this.

CI well I think that. As a study's lead -- great that two seam fastball was not one trick pony here you know it's if he's got that vicious curve ball. And the changeup to go along with it and you have those type of pitches you're gonna get swings and misses yes you can pitch to contact you can -- at bats. But if you really need to swing and it's he has swing and miss try to stop especially with a changeup --

Ball is like the Red Sox and rays don't play game now that lasts less than 03 and a half hours or so. I guess on one hand we can blame Joe Maddon for using seven very pictures tonight but as well as we can blame Jonathan Papelbon to.

Yeah well -- that's -- Major League baseball's putting the finger at and so he said today that that Tuesday. Did it took too long for him become the mound in instances happened before in the eyes of Major League Baseball. And he paid the price in the form of -- 5000 dollar fine. He said that it was the seventh time that he's been fine this year for such infraction the first time with a thousand dollar fine he really doesn't. So what's going on but he did say that he's not contain anything about the way pitches if you really can't you can't worry about. Things like that -- try to enforce the new rules but the cast especially the way he's -- of -- yes attest that the way you feel comfortable doing.

From what I understand this is not the amount of time he's taking in between pitches this is the amount of time he's taking. Getting into the gaming getting ready either to begin the inning or or come under relief for the middle and an.

Yeah yeah it is if it's not them walking around the mound it's really. The coming into the game from the bullpen and what secrets you know he slows down a little bit once he gets of the infield grass. Maybe that's it maybe just hurry up little bit but it does seem a little nit picky but you what are you going to do is like you said the main thing for Jonathan Papelbon -- about pitching well. And as long as -- his team masses back he can do is focus on that not the fines and one of those golf carts like that he doesn't get the guys -- that we'll Basra they couldn't there was never -- Baghdad right absolutely. As of now the Red Sox are scheduled to start Junichi dissolve on Saturday at least in theory that is yet to be determined because Tim Wakefield once the ball back. He threw today howdy do. I hate it people John Farrell and Tim Wakefield were mildly optimistic about how he threw Tuesday threw 25 pitches with his normal bullpen session. It was pretty much the same as when he was coming back before. Wasn't perfect by any means running was still -- root problem. So I don't think it's one of these things -- it's going to all the sun because of the cortisone shot the everything's going to be stored. Was just a matter of can he function can he get on the mound it's like he did last time news out there. And so they're going to see how he feels -- tomorrow. And then make that judgment whether he's going to pitch Saturday night they said as a possibility of that happening. If he's not able to go on Saturday we could be lucky that the surgery that might knock him out until like the end of September beginning part of October. -- I absolutely -- I think give. Things go the way where uses can pitch he just can't function. And over the next few days and as he said yesterday unity he's going to have to get surgery sooner than later he can't wait around. And he knows also it's a race against time a little bit so. I think it's one of these things where he's hoping that tomorrow is a good day after awhile fairly decent day today and that he might be able to pitch on Saturday.
