Welcome to our network studios and welcome to the Herb Chambers -- Buick Pontiac pregame show my name is John Rich. The Red Sox grab the opener on Tuesday the rays bounce back for the win last night. Boston now leads Tampa Bay by five games with Texas two and a half out in the wild card standings by buckled gets the ball opposite lefthander David Rice this evening. You know so much talk about Josh Beckett and in some on the national -- saying well you know we still scuffling this and that. After the second inning didn't you feel like he pitched very very well.

As far as one in the game one last night you know we gave up runs early and then we gave up some light so it didn't end up being a good night as far as cycles. But as far as him gathering in getting back into the way he pitched but he did -- socialists or four innings. -- comfortable down was movement. You know good hitters don't need help holding the ball. And when he gets flat in the middle and you -- just want to play that's what happens. And he looked real little frustrated early on gives the first pitch fastball Carl Crawford -- it was -- here we go again. Left a breaking ball up -- gets hit. To two Berle then he settled down actually pitched pretty well which which is good in bold well for us in his remaining starts.

Nine strikeouts if you just look at his pitching line six innings nine case you might say. He dominated it wasn't that Josh Beckett but it was a whole lot better in the last few starts yeah.

And their their one of the better lineups in the league they -- a lot of things they they can run you hit the ball ballpark. You know we we fought back and clawed back and and admirals and about was professional. Syria during the game but you know runner on second he's a big power guy he lined the ball over second trying to move the runner and not only number creates a rally -- really hurt.

The eighth inning you were alluding to the rally by the Red Sox tied at five win that. Starts to develop and you not doing you it hits you know you're doing with patient at bats in a wild pitch are you feeling like well we may steal one tonight this is going to be our night.

You know -- that's the whole idea coming -- we knew our bullpen was thin. And we did some good things to get back in the ball hits the dirt and we -- gone yup who's been on on everything. And we didn't you know get a hit to put ourselves had. But still leave on the road will be in times like okay it's better real being down and we have guys that can do this it just currently owns. In the end they win that game in a game they desperately had it had to have and I know several other guys around -- cage last night we're talking about that. If not a must win then a very crucial win for them so we will look at how they game develop that's a big ballgame for them. You know what I think we've you'll lose every game we play as break. We try never to place more importance on one gamer and finally come on elimination game together this season that's a different story. But I think we view every game is important and we lose you know we've we've -- hard for a few minutes then we move on and when we win we enjoyed for humans that we move on. Yeah Clay Buchholz on the mound tonight against their left hander price. This is -- we could be seen for years to come on it's interesting match up again and again I'm sure they're very excited about their young lefthander as we are about -- They're rouse the big leagues there will be different right now. But this -- should be an interesting matchup we got two good offenses you got two really good young pitchers. With a lot at stake. In two teams that I'm not sure going to play game under three and half hours the rest of the season Seattle thing that's happened in matters especially -- rosters. Expanding in your -- Joe really wants to match and so again it it could take awhile do you enjoy these sort of mono a mono kind of managerial. A matchup two of the best managers in the game kinda go and told until their late in games as the strip the strategy -- very fun to watch and there's -- probably yield different philosophy coming again they match up very honorable and we know that and ever want to do it from early on. But then again some of we don't we like our lineup. Valuable will makes -- in the game but. And there's no reason -- have for a lot of our guys and they're good hitters regards of who's pitching most of our is moves are are more. Dictated by running you'll run for all things like that as opposed to sit for people. It seemed to make all the sense in the world when you allowed Gonzales to hit that situation last night. The numbers were kind of -- Mike you also favor but then again you gotta compliment on a Mike's a double play candidate exactly is and the other thing is we've hit for David on my QB in the DH spot. So we had things kind of slot about. I'm we have thought about him -- gone to and and a lot of situations we do. But I just thought he's been seeing the ball way too good last couple lights. And and again you put a gap there that's a potential double play guy I don't know that puts us in the best position. It is only 390 by the way in the last eight games and I agree it looks like he's actually got some line -- he can be no matter. You -- Rocco Baldelli in right field -- pretty much the same lineup as last night. We got victor catching. And won't have Rocco in right we'll keep David as a DH just -- we're heavily arrival tonight on turf forgive gee maybe six innings off political and pension later. Tito -- about moving ahead now -- Chicago and -- had a great win. Yesterday but the White Sox made some deals and had some people scratch and has it maybe they were giving up on the season. Yeah ideally yeah that that's their business. I don't we have to prepare and we go to play him and will be few different names. But I don't know that we care who mega read over. Why they're playing we know they're going to play is tough we know we have -- useful I don't think we ever pay much attention besides reading it. With interest like a lot of baseball fans do when it comes time to go and play we'll go. Finally last night you know pap available or Billy Wagner. Are either or both those guys available for tonight -- global them back which is good tonight Dallas we know Worrell -- last -- we -- slows them -- back out for the second inning. We need to have some guys pitch well and we ran to trouble. That's where you're on the problems to automatically up.
