Actually at age two right after her second birthday -- shot had been having. -- change symptoms she is vomiting every sell off then and down nobody else in the house is getting sick and I kept bringing hairy and in saying -- keeps throwing up and and I said she's fine and I started noticing that when I took pictures of her her up one of our eyes -- being. And it wasn't all the time and but I couldn't get a good picture of her cell again I kept bringing parents -- pediatricians office and everybody thought everything was fine. Until one day she just started -- happened she couldn't stop and I brought to Children's Hospital. Having really no idea what was going on. And they are getting ads he had and they found that she had a very large malignant brain tumor called AT RT. So that was -- ten years in it was an aggressive form very aggressive -- very aggressive cancer that affects really young kids. It typically has about a 5% chance of survival. It's not accurate diagnostic yet. And so what happened here. Well we we can leave the hospital for awhile we had stayed and she had surgery and we were there for about a week and at the end of the week you know it was confirmed that it is malignant and we are brought over to the Jimmy signs. And you know that's sort of where the story. Began with the Jimmy -- you know we took a tour of -- there are we talked to the doctors we met Chris stand. And you know we it was a very scary time on the name that was the place we stayed for our. For two full years we were there constantly so Kristen is a very close friend advised she design errors that. She's. He's a very close friend DOJ family.

Failure -- it is just they -- hearing this from a lot of families who talk about. How they have gained a new friends through all of this in the treatment and it's always the -- for the for the doctor and obviously. I guess if they're really she's in there for regular treatment you've got to establish some type of relationship and obviously you. It is you you you lift their story.

I mean I think probably one in that they yes. The question I get the most people find out what I do is you know how can you do that you know it must be sad and you know I -- have to say it's not it's just it's not. I mean I couldn't do it I do without the families and establishing the connection I do with them. You know it's it's really important and I think that us and makes for the good success stories -- me.

Yeah ask a question about that because the the the camaraderie that we've been cynical and -- few minutes ago we've been doing this three years now. And we see we see parents we see kids we seek caregivers we see friends and caregivers we've seen is these these groups of people command. Now we just getting the best of the best in patients or. Does the Jimmy Fund Dana -- have a way of making this all or how is it that it all worked so seamlessly -- reckoning.

Well the staff Jimmy signed is. Above and beyond me a thing. They are amazing they really are and every you know every nurse I -- and -- is our nurse she dealt with mostly brain tumor patients this issue -- some. Salads prime -- so we don't wanna leave about Christine these -- nurse practitioner who we love -- is much Christine. And Donna and her doctor mark hearing and you know you're with these people. All the time. -- treatment with extremely aggressive she is very young and she is very sick while she was going through it and done. A lot of times people have a clinic day coming in nineteen states that you clinic day and child is implement every day so. I mean I spent two years with these people and it's very different than. What I use my doctor's office because. -- you can call them the -- time you can email them they're there for you they call you back. I ran the marathon Kristin is that the finish line I've been found Rudd read several times Kristen is at the finish line -- she would be members shallots birthday -- I have this investor day who sell. You know they're just special people and they really do everything they can't for the kids. And just very different.

you get three other youngsters here I as -- how. How I was along with debt and how tough was all of this with her going through the treatment. -- Dealing with. You can do whatever you want. Oh yeah yeah do whatever you want. If I had little idea how do you deal with the other trick is they have lives. And the family structure continues on during -- how difficult this.

Is very very difficult and and it is crazy and where your activity by not timing I think. We're pretty well -- here -- Very snowy gains when he still had to be -- clinic at 8:30 in the morning and it was a snow day sometimes that is going in there with four kids me and done.

It was crazy. But you know that's the thing about the Jimmy -- it's again not like going to doctor's office manipulate my god she brought in the -- kids you know but -- go in there and -- server is you know I'll let me get some craft projects and she's got the paint out -- the -- that and -- giving it happened jobs to do in James and and will is you know doing his thing in and they keep everybody busy. And UCLA it was nothing we lots we we lose will likely in the hallway into the nurses and bring him back dead. You know hey we just got through it that they've really test.

Taking over some doctor's office or whatever. Now does it back live right. How social -- Tossing and fabulous she -- She did I think that people are a lot of chemotherapy. A lot of radiation and we had a relapse. In the middle of all this week. Did clinical trial and then we didn't stem cell transplant who. Since then she's being very silly. She. Has been cancer free and it's hard Dawson yeah about it a year and a half out of her transplant she's five now she's five and this is her twin brother well and -- gonna -- though he looked like -- to -- yeah we're gonna -- like those stills and they're going to kindergarten. Is that Obama has -- in in one week the -- see happening a -- since coming up and I have -- 990 I know picks.

Parents today I started tuning our -- that was a very happy day for her South Africa had a couple of you know I I think I think you wrote that right now based -- everything you prove that you've gone through what she looks great. And again a testament to the wonderful job with -- the doctors and nurses Kristen and others. Do over there -- it's amazing work -- with amazing seeing more and more with the C. I'm aggressive former brain cancer. What 23 years ago. That a few years ago would've taken her life and here she is at five and I can tell you she looks you if you could never tell that she's been through the well she looks great.

You know I think that that I think people need to understand is that on in other parts of the country. They wouldn't even treat H yard T they would just say go home in -- hot bed and that would BA. And I I think that's the difference with the Jimmy -- down. Doctor -- charity doctors using -- who are. -- part of the pediatric brain tumor clinic there. Are. -- that that you know head every other country that is cancer are hardly anybody in the world is researching it and they are. And you'll be are constantly as a family raising money pretty down to increase their restarts and done. Yeah trying to help them on because. Basically with her cancer we we sift through everything is uniquely that it and we -- hoping today one day you know doctor Carey and doctor -- we'll find. -- more targeted store that's less toxic. And that sixteen candles and you'll find that they will find I think millions and Kristen -- said that that if anyone's gonna find that it's gonna be doctor -- they don't find it.
