While lord knows you come back to us at a time that is his perfect timing I mean a whole bunch sports stuff today in the manager of the Red Sox Terry Francona today. And then as John just said a few minutes ago the two most important days our calendar year tomorrow and Friday. It is something that. You know we just love doing it is it is from the heart. We have a very special guest oh we have lots of special sessions but we have one that counted comes from our heart. We're gonna talk to -- Dan's mom.
Yeah Gail Williams we we talked about her before you guys remember. We went Q -- dance funeral. Earlier this year and and she she she was Ali as always it was unbelievable and I saw her at a Celtic game. I shortly after the funeral her sister told her you have to come to the Celtics game you have to you have to go -- house yeah and -- October at that game. As -- you really should do some writing. It -- it will make you feel better it will it will. Helped projector thought more of your thoughts down because she wrote something she wrote attribute. One of the most beautiful poetic. Tributes I've ever heard anybody give an -- stand.
And have the the the courage and the daring greatly give it. We love -- we love Steve her husband of the whole famine that Gilles gonna join -- as our guest during the radio telethon. We have Torre's going to be -- again and shall bring that. 50000 megawatt smile into the studio to visit whether -- it all takes place tomorrow and Friday and I'll admit it I I'm nervous every year. You know we have lofty goals and and and -- and we wanna do so much good but I'm more nervous this year than I've.
Yeah a lot to goes to tough economy mean a lot of people are struggling lot of people. You wouldn't expect. To struggle are struggling -- of the the faces of this of this recession which would. Hopefully coming out of but the faces of this recession are not are not typical -- and in any send -- your people. But you probably thought you looked at them from afar -- was -- there. It you know great big house and get. -- 23 cars and kids are great -- does that got the best of light and some people. -- have art so yeah it is it is a tough time. To ask but we believe it's a great cause and and it is gonna happen somehow we'll find a way to to make it happen it will get it will rhetorical.
A lot of sports stuff today the manager of the Red Sox Terry Francona will join us as he does every Wednesday. It it's funny and and I was thinking about this is those dot. Com. We get calls all the time and we got someone you were gone too you know that Red Sox win despite Terry Francona not because of calls. The ones who say you know Francona -- time here is over and you're you know the tight. -- they never call and say she a couple of parties moved in last night. Pass health insurance for this guy and networks and paint -- but at guy and that works and you never get a call it -- you know like those moves that he made last night but it's against the way we do.
It's easier to rip with. So -- something today you know rip them I have -- I just as your back I handling I am I'm gonna think of something or to rip them about in Obama get a matter. I'm gonna get the manager upset that's a promise at noon tune in new. And a -- around twelve -- butter him up for a little bit that I around to blow bulls 72 probably counts outcome of that.
You know Michael the only thing I'd get like -- that is. I'm more comfortable talking to burial.
And I immediately knew I -- to back that. There's payback come nicely last night and Jason Bay has continued its late season. Reawakening here and that was that was a huge -- that huge so where's the needle today where's the where's that Jason Bay needle. Or remove and -- to the left where you don't reside Saturday -- not he strike would be better anyway or -- remote it's the right. You know the mastery Jason Bay if will be the biggest tragedy. If he doesn't do this got to -- where are you today if the neatly as zero. We don't want hearing more if the media and hundred is what you nuts of course bring him back I -- like sixty. 6570. You know it's it's it in now it's trending up. You know he's a little late season surge here and another big home run last I -- think about 28 home runs he's got 89 runs batted and I think.
which is pretty amazing that he has -- production when he disappeared he really did -- here for six weeks of the season Munich that the numbers and and Jason Bay hasn't had a home run and a longtime dissident has been driven -- many -- have a stretch. Over a month we drove in three runs.
The All-Star break you know when I forget what the numbers work but it seemed like that number that he had at the All-Star Chris Douglas and that's number number of Ron Brown weeks -- some open. And then you go back to Terry Francona -- old line about the back of the baseball card. David Ortiz is -- in this season. -- 52627. Home runs probably around a hundred runs batted in. His batting average is going to be far below what used to what is normal numbers are but his production numbers probably going to be. A lot better that you thought so.
In that case it won't be look at the back of the baseball card it is that of those the numbers -- David Ortiz will be look at the back to Tony Clark and I. Get more about okay at all that Britain today I don't think -- I got home -- I could lie did I make it okay. It'll add that packet tape recorders they're -- for the show lot of good of all what I have. -- are doing this epic apocalypse. Ought not to negative that it's not about. We're we're now is not about it how low blow -- yours sports knowledge is. It's about what you're willing to say I got rid of him for hours at a minimum case. But you know a look at this last night.
And I said you last night because I missed you so much at the top unit on Tuesday we get together and talk and we just talk which is not about. Some controversial things have gone on things you're about mean some things that things out and says about me I don't work out games you know cause your neighbors. And it yeah it it. All I've raised but I was sick about this -- that -- that -- one point retirement game of the worst case scenarios happen. -- Red Sox are -- exactly like the Red Sox were down 32 in the seventh and the Yankees were down at that point 85 in the fifth. And turning to a pretty close game and I. And look like tech and Texas can run. So. The worst case there were we're -- for the Yankees to beat Texas but I think about it. -- Nine don't -- about. Six games down. That a yankees not -- Not that drank too much -- property. Alcohol. You can vote. It doesn't matter I don't make it well. You might be close by if you don't have. Six. Let Rebecca. I'm not above revisionist history now back in January -- an -- you know nine. The Red Sox would have a significantly over the Yankees. Not gonna change you lie neither can I think I think to a brigades out and make the policy unless any they would make the postseason play that back. Good to wait two weeks admirably and so it division. Or -- that matter but I think would be more entertaining epic comeback in in the divisional.
They acquire Billy Wagner yesterday he he finally got way moment of -- Saturday and decided that. Pitching in meanings meaningless games in New York for the last 45 weeks is not as good as pitching in meaningful games in Boston. I like the -- this they have a hole in the bullpen when Masterson left. I think they felt they had -- for another left handed reliever Okajima is the only got they had. And you see is an instance like Monday when Aikman used them against home in the they've used the -- It just gives another option to Terry Francona the price was Chris Carter and a low level prospect I'm okay.
Well I -- our -- a little surprising given Cris Carter. I am surprised it was his I mean I mean there's a guy who whose 38 years old coming up Tommy John even though he's strong in the ninety's. In the in the mid to high nineties after Tommy John surgery. Somebody like Chris Carter. It's mildly surprising look Carter prize yet it is a DH that's what he's going to be so he had a party you have to close the Mets -- do with him because he can't really play. In the other that he can hit though. But -- Billy Wagner you're right. You look at that guy doesn't -- a lot of people. He throws in the ninety's he throws from the left side. He's had some success in his career in a six time all started only thing. That that makes you wonder. What two things one he spent his Thacker in the nationally now. Some guys are an issue -- really talented and it's in both -- not a -- but other guys. Religious struggle with that transit and pitchers talk about the thing is psychologically. Does he go through the closer.
Where he's Bartlett about with god at and I don't mean as bad as Gagne pitched I mean YouTube and the clothes are now you're set -- guy at all.
Those guys go through. Guys who want to close who worked -- born closes I think Papelbon is like that and and in Gagne was like that where you're doing once we have a certain mentality. When you know there's nobody behind you but setting up. I know it doesn't make sense but a lot of these guys really struggling and unsafe situations we'll Billy Wagner music it.
We -- nine seconds away from telling you what we think Tom Brady thanks. Because he never does anything just off the top of his head in our opinion we'll talk about that we'll get to your calls as well Terry Francona joins us at 1202. And -- back together again Sports Radio WB yeah.
