We are just about a day away from football season while baseball rolls on. A little a patriots begin their pre season tomorrow in Philadelphia a joining us on the eighteenth the outline AT&T your world liver is the president. And chief operating officer of the -- patriots Jonathan -- good morning Jonathan how are -- After fifteen full -- practices intents by everybody's. A countdown in down into Gillette Stadium. The players clearly say they're ready to hit somebody else wearing some other kind of uniform are the front office what about the ownership what about the people who file he's always really the.
Okay you are just words choked Sarah Robert. Knock heads know okay you sure you're ready to watch real football game matched assured. And two cities especially this year we we have so many draft choices. The second and third round and to be able to go most federal watch all of a draft choices for watch the number of those picks we we have a strategy. Of trying to accumulate as many -- as we possibly could. In the second third and fourth round about a -- we'll go out and and watch those guys perform for the first time -- in real competition against another team battle declared. It's on the matter.
How much playing time Tom Brady gets or doesn't get tomorrow night or in game two -- game three. There will be an adjustment period by the fans as they watch him up their tickets first second third or fourth it gets will there be some sort of up bated breath -- ownership. While watching the star quarterback out there for the first time in almost a year.
Now. -- David -- but I am sure the all the analysts spoke to professional analysts and the ones on the couches in the living room will be dissecting every little movie city -- them. That's sort -- grade everyone has such interest and concern about you do you watch. Just you just watched from around the building has been accused completely confident now his body feels. And and and what's going that I think. There's. It's it's football so what should step out -- that killed any player that involvement I think everybody understands the risks. And and no matter who your quarterback it is -- big defensive -- I think it's French. But I think Tom's pretty pretty good at what it does -- is the best to work he does and will just enjoy and watch it seemed to back out on the.
do you expect him. And Randy Moss and Wes Welker and company to pick up where they left off because let's face it John last time. We saw them they were the best offense in NFL history.
It Gerri it's it's an excellent point and I I've been telling people this this pre season. That this thing there was most frustrating about last year to. Was dead in 2000 and certain people forget that com worship and Randy. We're actually never all on the field together during pre season and that that jets came the first game this is a bad infamous jets gave. In the meadowlands was actually the first time. That the three of the more on the field together and the whole lot Spence was on the field together to those three in particular renegade course were new to the team. And all that happened that year is that yacht since. Set records and was the most prolific offense and history. And the one thing that I don't think parliament and all the guys on the offense rests western -- the offensive line. David Benton retired air -- Lawrence Kevin -- the everybody that the men don't take credit for. It is very we play our games in the open ended the team whose record that we be. Played I believe nine or ten games and adult. In this -- and they did it and they had people who have been together a lot of times so last year. I think one of -- one of the frustrating things was not being able to see a continuation of that a year the word everybody actually.
We chose I think I know you senate this offense should be better than it was the second -- seven and.
I didn't I didn't say that what I said was. What I say it was a would have been interesting to see the offense last year with the year's worth of experience behind it because literally. That offense did not play -- still together. Throughout training camp than that first game that the meadowlands was -- and submissive. You'll you'll get those guys coming back they know each other now there's clearly unfinished business from last year. Yet Joey Galloway Greg Lewis to the marriage Fred Taylor the running back position coming in what. Warrants have been given the -- that we had good ties that bind with -- David and the guys we've added there. It's going to be fun to watch that sought spent some Tom Brady Tom Brady knows had a this field general to make decisions have to have bad data array of weapons around -- should be a lot of --
John with your ear to the ground at the stadium and I know it is and with your eyes open and watching practices and your ability to glean information from all the people know what they're doing down there. Pro football standpoint. Give us the name of somebody that at the end of this football season as the patriots approach the playoffs somebody not named Brady or not name -- or not -- Welker but you think we might be saying wow what a difference this guy made the the New England Patriots this year.
I think there's a lot of guys like that Kashmir assemble more now would you like task in particular favorite child. So I think all of I would defer our Matt but I do I reduce certain that there are going to be a lot of people. Who were not on this team last year and Edouard I just point out one guy who are always got a lot of attention in the press who I think there's -- practiced. As we bought -- who picked up from Detroit news quarterback and and and -- yeah I think he'd he had known it's been written about publicly news. Has really done a great job against a tough sell the defenders -- practice but that isn't meant -- not single out anybody else I think a lot of good. Guys we drafted a number of the other guys that we saw this reagents I think you -- see a lot of new faces.
We ask your father pop -- and what are we just -- Moore's favorite show he -- Danny definitely.
Well you know we keep my father I rule might argue repetitive even better some a dynamite.
And John earlier this in this conversation you said the Tom Brady is the best to what he does. A Lotta Lotta people outside of Indianapolis would disagree with that that's said. Eli Manning just signed a six year 97 million dollar deal how does that impact. Tom Brady going forward with this football team in your mind and we heard those numbers for Eli Manning would you think.
You Eli is our quarterback -- rookie do those values and of the last year of this contract. And he's won a Super Bowl one but I wish you hadn't won both one but he did. And M problem. It's as everybody that they're positioned him in the league win. He contract's role would -- do is deal. It was in the upper Echelon of of the quarterback feels and that's what happens is contract's role -- people come within a year to a common market. You look at what's going on in the market you read that person that did not rank them but you look at that person relative to the other people they're positioned. And and you figure out what makes cents both for the club under the salary cap in the player. And Eli Manning it is good quarterback in the primary his career with a Super Bowl win a big marketed and -- the space so that franchise. And and they did. I've not even -- alerted to -- the largest -- close -- the largest -- but I think that's probably what you'd expect people are having to make. And and Tom Tom when. We don't talk about the contracts publicly you know but obviously that helps to -- to markets quarterbacks in general I think that's an accurate.
What we we've been discussing Michael Vick for weeks and if you noticed this kind of a big topic around the country and and some guy is a respected guys in -- John Clayton was one prove the patriots in the mix and some people to shut it down immediately in the and the reason and and I I don't believe he's coming here because you got a quarterback he's gonna go somewhere where you can play. But one of the reasons people use when they suited down 60 Bob Kraft Myra Kraft they would never allow that. -- Is that why -- totally right I know you would take compel you know they -- trend in February but mom and -- and they really say no we're not gonna have this. This is the general on our team.
We're groups it's about a family discussion white mom and dad and the kids that's not the way it happened so let me first say this. And and I -- Roberts said it last week we had. Did the best quarterback in the leak. It unity so why would you want to have another quarterback Argentinian. Michael Vick has done this time relative to the criminal judicial system but I think the one thing people forget to point out about Michael -- There's Michael Vick went into the commissioner's office before all the stuff -- actually. Broke the law enforcement when he gets convicted so easy to whatever the commissioner's office and the rumors were swirling in the commissioner. Look committee. And certain Michael you know you are you involved in dog fighting it anyway have you -- And he looked the commissioner effectively his boss the man who governs his business in the eye and told them no. Is interviewed did something egregious were called in to true leader Jason's officer however that works and you did that. And you look them MEI it was a direct question and blatantly lied to them I don't know how much longer. You know you would be employed now -- that happened a few years ago. And and you start as time under the judicial system but I do think that big creates a cloud that people have to think about the patriots are not in the market. For the starting quarterback we've we have one we have to have only one that we liked to have right now so. If it is it's sort of a misnomer and I think that things -- out of control and we don't comment really. We don't comment ever about players were looking at -- think about because lots of things run through these officers and we don't wanna ever have to be in the position. Commenting about things publicly. Related to those situations because it can hurt you. From a competitive standpoint. That being -- You have bad didn't -- It never -- my mother I I know some good came up with Christian Peter but my mother would not being -- understand football talent and and she never does -- about those types of things.
The -- as far as you know if there are three or 45 and I'm sure you do or don't -- the number or not but teams that are inch convict. Is -- a scenario where you know team acts. Team why testicle all the commissioners say how do you want this to play out is -- perfect way that the league looks at integrating this guy. Back in the system to minimize as best as possible the Peta protest the public relations. -- nightmare that that will be does the commissioner have a plan for that and the people who -- it should Michael Vick the teams are rejected in Michael -- know what the commissioner expects them to do and how to handle this business.
They're back that's such an excellent question shot and I think the -- commissioner. Quickly tried to decide on Michael's. Penalty relative to the league so good teams could consider him. And understand the ramifications. And there's not a memo that goes out from these park avenue all the -- saying. To those -- you considering driving Michael Vick or any player that matter -- so we can help you. That being said I think when a team. Aside as a player any player where there may be some extraneous type of circumstances around it. I don't think it would be out of character for that team to coordinate with the week off it's not necessarily. On the financial. Terms of the deal. But on some of the other elements of a contract in the ultimate announcement so. It's David does side Michael Vick will only be in touch with the league office my guess is they very well might be. But I think that happens more more then. Then you would think.
But changing the subject to people who were here and are now gone -- them up players but I'm wondering how the relationship continues. With -- valued members of your organization of moved on and gone other places. What does the relationship continue to be you know front office ownership with say Scott Pioli and Kansas City or Josh McDaniel in Denver do you feel sorry for Josh all the trouble remembering how does that relations has changed since they left.
Well -- this cut back -- Josh. Boasts. They've both been amazing contributors to disorganization. During their time here. And they're both people that we think of Bob Brady from the top down and we consider them extended members of the family demoted. Other cities and I think part. The idea of leaving -- taking over your own show would you go to take over your own show would have different ways I think both Scott and job -- caught on to do that. The fact that bad job is open probably means there's a little more instability. In those situations. Then doing various here. I think both of them are very very capable football people. And and my guess is they've given given the time in the resources spoke both be very successful. And as wonders about playing the patriots in the blog is it doesn't have a negative impact on the patriots. I think everybody in this building to be rooted for.
Reach of the same applies for Eric Mangini right.
And what can -- its final question all of a -- they're valued member of the scrutiny the.
I'm gonna tell you do place Scott didn't just have to go to the blessed this year we've there's there's a very strong affinity for it. Guys like -- active Charlie it's -- a lot of -- definitive or Derek got another head coaching job obviously. People -- There's equality head coach and believe so. --
Are we when we wrap it up with the lottery in the patriot and I don't -- talked up while we're talking we're get a do over here on the Jonathan's pop Warner team shaping up I'm sure they've -- pads for the last you know twenty debuted his hit and your kids there at.
You know unfortunately. My son my son Harry will be playing at school this year so as you know Jerry you're not allowed. To slow down to football teams so you go -- and I am going to be Borough of queens. Practice started last week were. Barbara blood Jamaica Plain -- water and I am embarrassed to say and -- that I am gonna help out. And still coach Fisher he's annoyed auto disarmament program but. Have been traveling most of the last two weeks and haven't had the opportunity get to the field that. We wouldn't -- stool next week and it help.
It was so what happens to our team playing connect. -- at at the high definition bright and early in the -- the -- practice that's still intact.
Our. Good Trout all right though the lottery the patriots are are are teaming up on something to the New England Patriots lottery ticket tell you the lowdown on that Jonathan.
Well -- you know that there's been a plethora of sports games did you know what the lottery the last few years cents. When treasurer occasional I think first started considering -- called. He called a sub four years ago even five years ago and -- wanna do a patriots ticketed and you know I've -- aside don't wanna start to olympians and sports. I think it can really create a whole. New business -- for the lotteries bring in new players to the game a different type of situation. We told him that the week unfortunately didn't allow it and over that period of time the other sports leagues broke down and the state lottery did very successful games with them -- from that time treasurer -- Actually spent a fair amount of time talking to have FL officials he runs. The most successful lottery in the state vision gathered in the country this state lottery and I think he was able to help. Play a big role in convincing believe. A lottery gave. We're gonna have -- bell logo but having nothing to do with the outcome of game but the performances of individual players to makes sense. And could actually especially difficult economic times return an awful lot to the staple watery. I think in his tenure has returned something point six billion dollars over the last five years to the cities and -- so we created it gave. Distrust when the week finally did go out we wanted to create a game there was some like any other. Five dollar games so the lottery game which launched yesterday we have ten million dollar prizes in the primary Damon to one million dollars. In the secondary gay -- that's worth losing tickets can get sent him. And you get a chance to come down on the field here at one another million dollars but didn't we know people find it difficult to get our tickets and there are 8500 VIP tickets in in this mix given out over the next couple years. As well as the chance for five people -- season tickets for life for life -- there wasn't just about winning hats and T shirts. There was about word substantive prizes. And M but -- also say and this was important to us. It's the only licensing deal the patriots have ever done where. We didn't get a big up front the which has powered the sports teams heals all over the country have been done. In the past Ed what we wanted to do especially because the lottery has allowed budget anymore it's been cut. Even though they're generating so much money into the cities and towns. We should look will get out will promote the game and we only want colonel licensing the as the game is successful we sell tickets. And I think. The treasurer. And his staff of -- lottery staff. But that made sense and that was so we're put it together and you can do it actually would get cheerleaders today down a and ignore it himself station giving out the ticket so for the people commuting about maybe. We'll get lucky you dealt.
All right so as of yesterday the new in -- lottery tickets are available correct. -- all over the shape and really -- tenable in the next and before the show's over from the Dennis and Callahan program John. It's a time always a pleasure talking with we will talk -- down the road.
Good to talk to negotiate what happened to me they're all the sudden there's this produces no -- is dual --
Torment and -- I don't know and yeah -- I -- I predict should not great she looks better than she sounds how's that. I can't shoot out shortly you know I don't know got a lot better baker we're not sure we're not sure about -- where we would sent out an eight PB for -- we'll see we can find all right all right -- other -- patriots presidency -- joining Dennis and Callahan on AT&T hotline AT&T your world delivered --
