Yesterday we got word that -- Julianne was named coach of the year in the NHL by the sporting news. Today we find out that general manager Peter surely has been named NHL executive of the year. And feel like congratulations but three days after your season and it does that.

Not really it if they hit the main distinction but. No we're still we're still pick up the pieces to a certain degree in and looking to see how we're -- who. Faced next year but. But regret it was a bit of the summer to work with the flow of -- ago.

Peter we get to hear all of the various stages of denial that fans go through after their team has been defeated. How about you what stage are UN right now and how are you how are you moving forward from that game seven defeat.

I'm satisfied that the players will continue to grow and improve.

Knowing that you were not able nor inclined to deal in specific names. In generalities. What are the areas you'd like to improve on your hockey team for the upcoming season.

I'd like to get a little more side the product try to do that the -- we got we got certain elements evident in mark. We agree or not but just the way that he played. I still like to do that I believe so called. -- thirteen. You know in if from the defensive perspective if -- actually be careful because move into. Of the types of players. Like that really accurate that the court. So. So I don't. You know you'd -- you'd like -- and stimulate that the state forward along the way actually. I'll say this even if you don't Manny Fernandez will likely not be back to Rask will be one of your two goaltenders here. And trying to figure out how contracts work. You know his base salary is certainly up and affordable contract for a second goaltender. But with the bonuses that he can reach I'm not sure how how affordable that contract is how does that work with with contracts in the NHL and and accessible bonuses and things like that.

Well that's that's something that's a good point because that's something that when people pocket border capped Gretchen when I you have to take better account. This year those bonuses. Work became hard money for a couple of reasons I won't get -- do what hard money and fill in -- like too good number cap number what street point here. And and you couldn't get her out of your defeat him in whatever way you could. Any -- year including lecture. It's cap number is still that. But all the bonuses to make me total up about 22 point seven at the -- went something like that -- soft money you can go beyond the capital so. But that that the general premise behind both from those entry level performance bonuses Russell's first contract. If it it -- has cushion and maybe you can exceed the cap by the amount of the of the -- There are soft so that gives you get with a little more flexibility.

And national smart so I like to -- and they're smart experienced Seaman and I really enjoy -- watch them play -- no other team. I think they're able to do it consistently amazed that a scouting thing or is it just that the because they've had such success. You know players want to go there. Because they thought they can they can win a championship in Detroit.

I I think it's obviously there's a lot of reasons why coatings one mentality I think is the biggest treason and Matt passed. Player player over time of I think starting what. And in the eyes minera. And it -- you're expected to play that way whatever value and it's -- There's a mentality. Message. -- that is ingrained in everybody and -- we're we're trying to get -- you know we're trying to get that and the -- not -- you have to. Do like -- it. It's hard to get good players but people do it but I think we get over the -- to have this sake -- and always have met with Detroit has.

In my moment of true confession I've been most critical of two acquisitions you've made one was Manny Fernandez and I continue to not like that acquisition. The other is Michael Ryder and I couldn't have been more wrong about about one. Michael Ryder proved to be a key contributor -- contributor to your team all season long.

Yeah yeah you really -- He you know and I started well but I really I liked the way that he plays it knocked -- but Detroit. Strong on the -- Michael played that way. I believe he can be affordable scorer like it if he -- his game of the bank. A lot of good contract and in the play out what is it Montreal he he had to he had an average series against. Against Carolina but. It is their job to get more out of them but he is in a good acquisition. You know there's development to his game that that are very compatible -- the trend in the -- expect that it will try to achieve.

What's your first order of business. Our moral. Yeah I mean -- I I listen to -- and today tomorrow.
