I don't believe that my partners enemy making any announcements today but. As always you know we are standing by if you want to make some new messiah. I didn't expected it would be news coming from you know your your first words back. Let's not secret I mean. The issue with the votes are counted yet and it's a little misleading I wasn't just there to. Vote on the patriots -- at all apparently partly my fault 'cause I thought that's what you deal that was that was partly your fault it was all your ball well. It's. That's all too because I thought that's through their four I mean that's that's what we thought you were doing and by the way that's very worth anything to do as well every year. The patriots get a group of football media together. Com and and make kind of select the candidates for the patriots Hall of -- that ultimately the fans vote on. And of course only one person gets elected each year last year was then -- yep.
All media and former players the former players there yesterday Andre Tippett. Steve Nelson was there are backing -- yeah yeah yeah you got yet an outside -- inside guys sitting at the same table and yet Larry -- A good running back in the good return guy -- well. Lots of people. Ernie Adams was there. Tommy -- was there Paul Perillo Steve Burton.
Aren't just there Rhonda hobson as I thought -- its electoral candidates for the the this year for the patriots -- not.
Just there to select the candidates for this year's Hall of Fame but since this is the fiftieth anniversary. Of the of the patriots of a franchise. You've got your fiftieth. Anniversary team to put together -- so that's all time patriots team.
Discussion again. Could -- convoluted and you've got one not convoluted but very involved in very very animated very passionate and it did. And catcher all decade -- choose between -- and -- as field I'm out great discussion but it never came up. And out of it even if at all decade team. -- the get to the eighties quarterbacks. Your options are the Grogan and tell he's in. I was waiting I wanted I wanted Nellie and -- to say something that they've added an RS hit it all they love Grogan and they didn't say a word got obviously that's -- gave it. -- Akamai I thought I was thinking of disdain you know hey you know Tonys and did some good things here.
Did you try and I didn't I can't opt I have got to -- but you know I was I. -- The guy with 33 rings on his answer wins that when pretty easily.
Yeah I would think so but that those votes aren't about my vote. In some of these areas where I really struggle. And yeah it was good it was good for me because. Some of the patriots. Who played in the sixties and seventies. One was here to. It happened here -- wasn't old -- really appreciate. What these guys. You know what what they've brought the tables so it was great. -- there and duels and those there are low and -- have Carlo and Ernie Adams on folks who. Who who only not only saw them. Covered them and in -- case. Coats some of these players from the sixties and 70s70s. -- so. It was a very educational. Entertaining. Thought provoking day. So I was looking at all time team. And that their their positions. That really got people go I can't say about the conversation conversations not the record back -- today. At all -- wide receiver.
What you got some really. Really good candidates there -- I mean Stanley Morgan would probably carried out Koppel -- okay. I look at that average yards per catch and it's just that just blows me no debate. Out -- easy forming okay. And after that I mean I could see where Stanley probably got some consideration and some and some conversations or -- Troy Brown would have to be on your list Irving fryer a whole. Matt you know what I tight GOK that's a good conversation I had one would be easy but boy after that.
And another good conversation. Well a couple couple and and the linebacker one kept me up at night it. It's really get -- the body you break it down inside linebackers outside -- at a 340 cents as it on the all decade teams. We tried to be true to what was happening at the time so it's exciting play in 3470s. It was up reports -- team in the seventies and for the all time team we try to acknowledge how the game changed knows people back that much anymore ET three wide receivers. Three quarterbacks are on the field a whole lot. To match up with those three wide receivers so each attic he tried to factor that -- to the thing about this and it's not linebacker.
All time inside linebackers got.
This is where we had the argument on the -- this you've got Steve Nelson which for me isn't is a -- he's gotta be one of them from. OK. You've got Tedy Bruschi. And got -- Monica now that's where you tonight in an end if it. Was thought provoking as we were talking about it earlier today my first instinct to you with Nelly and Bruschi. You made such a good case not argument that wasn't what we were -- but you you you set the case fourth for want to Connie that.
just that well it was a patriot just as long as he was at dolphin. Surprise me when he's in the pro football Hall of Fame so. A dark and baker Hall of Fame. Saying this is one of the best inside linebackers to ever play the game of football party your franchise for. -- It's very typical not considered Tedy Bruschi. It's probable that many times. But there's been a five Super Bowl think about that end of 51. Degree. But yeah but yeah -- part of three Super Bowl winning. Five overall. That's been in major contributor. 23 Super Bowl winning teams. You're talking about a franchise team do you want Tedy Bruschi and your team what -- bruised -- if you take a Tedy Bruschi you'd be comfortable replacing him. Steve Nelson -- on these three guys ride which got picked. That's -- that's.
Tough crowd -- what swung it for me eventually was long Japanese and taking nothing away from want to Connie which you pointed out spend as much time here as he did Miami. But Nelly and Teddy. Began and ended their well that he scorers tunnel from it but you know began and and will probably end their careers ball in a patriots uniform. And and served valiantly and loyally for the entire length of their careers that would swing it for me but.
Well but you still have to. You have to look at it as eighteen. You're trying to. Try to win a game. -- I got and it's not necessarily.
You know good service or. Hey you know he he was a good guy or he he was good for this system here is trying to find yeah. The best guys trying to cap a come on guys you would put on the field and it's. It's a tough conversation I don't know how the vote is going to turn out. I know I really struggle with that and I'm still struggling with that as a matter of fact and then there's another debate and maybe it's not as controversial as I've I've made it out to be but you look at the quarterbacks. And we who you know we're quarterbacks of all time quarterback from doing patriots.
Well again you go back to hold you know is -- in the Hall of Fame argument there you go I want my canes in the Hall of Fame okay. So we -- you'd you'd almost based on what you said about nick Buoniconti almost have to go to -- for one album.
We -- Ty Law okay that's right now there's another guy. Who's missing from the conversation. He's not better to Mike Haynes. Is on the same level as Ty Law -- Claiborne.
Longtime -- it it's that it's a tough question I it is a very tough question. And -- one is not in sports simply. Being punched out well McDonough a -- no other way around. Yeah well -- other way around it was it was as it was explain to me yesterday -- said yesterday assets from the guys who -- covered that c'mon. Claiborne let McDonnell and not not not not that Madonna was the small guy he was solid and up and it a little crazy to. Had he. He wasn't going to back down from anybody. Willie can't really get sides of the people. If you never met will Madonna you think this Wendy's scrawny sports writers think again at -- yet from bronze to -- And he had a bit of an attitude. As well know he had a huge -- yet but and I loved them there was a -- as it was described him it was a it was a -- of that McGovern got -- at an awkward position. And then at that point win clay -- was retreating it was broken. Through it and necessary knock him out but he seldom pretty good at anyway to get much.
Puppies vet and putt leaving that aside. Claiborne in law I probably would go with law. But but I had but it's a it's hard delicate and I just speaking up top my head without looking -- stop.
I've studied this -- at it was really a privilege for me to be there it was a great conversation a great day of just talking about for law and and thinking about. Some of these some of these debates that we're going over right now. It was thought provoking. Extremely educational. It makes you appreciative. Of what this franchise. Has accomplished today it the past yeah some of the great players who have a lot of -- because the team wasn't always so great but I can tell you this. And I thought people were exaggerating -- talk about. The hall -- patriot place.
I haven't seen it yet but everybody has raved about we went I felt stupid going through going. To all the patriots Mondays we went to last year and not. Not an -- I don't call that place is off the charts at I think we're credible. I can't imagine another team. As a Hall of Fame. Similar to that there's -- in Green -- I have heard that -- that they went state of the art it's crazy it's crazy I agree -- Hall of -- yeah that's is like a little room. A second little room where people stand Iran put to coat down in okay fine this is. Incredible and I also thought. The people Ehrlich were exaggerated resentment CBS scene we had like deceit and I think it. That call -- food what he called for instrument -- and I've actually been there with the family and all the T heard them talking about a remembered. On the CBS game first game of the -- going on and on had that the studio guys talk about a blue boomer was talking about it standards are but I. Really they're gonna get to put out a little too -- How good -- this place Greg so was a great day mr. guys yesterday but. I'm glad I was able to take part and that discussion. So you'll be getting some news pretty soon about the all time teams to be getting some news about the all decade teams as well will figure out who that hall of famers going to be.
