Julius Peppers will not be an -- Patriots -- And it will happen for all the reasons that you mentioned. Partly because of the pending contract situations of those other Patriot players partly because. New England would have to invest enormous sum of money in Julius Peppers . Part because it would take like habitation because of that I know the word on the street is let him go this second round pick that. Think that they got from Matt Cassel the 34 overall selection in -- that would seem to make sense but. There a couple of technicalities to point out first and foremost. The Carolina Panthers. Right now are not allowed. To trade Julius Peppers because he hit -- this franchise tender. When Matt Cassell signed his franchise tender. That gave the Patriots the right. To trade
enormous sum of money that you're going to have to invest in Julius Peppers for starters you're going to talk about a deal that. Basically changes the dynamics of the salary short short in the locker room. When you've got pending deals coming up with Richard Seymour and Vince Wilfork. You're talking about a deal that. Our number three Dennis without Callahan Michael Felger and for Jerry this of the bittersweet Thursday for us. As our good friend and NFL network Adam show after joins -- on the AT&T hotline AT&T your world delivered for the last time. This season all at a -- going to tear in my hi how are -- my. And good morning Davis -- -- -- felt of -- sort of rich that it worked out good morning get into doubt Callahan plus so there. That's very emotional day I continually break and -- Not easy not easy I honestly will miss you guys and Thursday. The -- will -- it will be nice to have some Thursday morning time back. There ago I I I remain amazed when I geared at least once today maybe twice or three times a day I'm sure this will wane as we get past the Super Bowl. That that last Sunday's game with the greatest bowl ever played and by the way that was the greatest Super Bowl catch ever. I would suggest you only have to go back one year to find a game that was better at a tests it was better you say what Adam. I'd say you're 100% correct and I think we. -- -- is a generation of now and people who have short memories who don't like to. Think that two other years took me. Is it won't be hard pressed to rank this Super Bowl in the top five. Okay I think it might be about fourth spot but to me Super Bowls that were better then no one on Sunday. What are last year's. The Cowboys steelers' 3531. Super Bowl. The Giants built according in 19 ball. The Broncos Packers from start to finish in 1998. Yeah -- from start to finish is a great game. But the rest Titans about the Patriots Rams into it doesn't want a. Out of the Patriots Carolina dad to me Adam the Patriots Carolina game was the best Super Bowl game mean to finish in 1 with Saint Louis will never forget it but from. Starts and Carolina. Had everything they hit the snot out of each other for a time it was defensive for a time it blew open at the end of the second quarter to open in the fourth -- coupled lead changes in the fourth that was a last second field combined for 37 points I believe in the fourth quarter to be. Okay -- why does this is the point -- it is is that you can't tell me. That's how they support Clinton Georgia curriculum I think we are physically. -- position but you can't tell me if that's so -- so they. -- is better than seven assume totally distraught it off. I agree with you ought to percent all right handicap the field. For Matt Cassel gimme that three teams most likely to send draft picks to the Patriots for Matt -- in order. Vikings -- alliance. Okay I don't hear separate sisco on there I don't hear. I Kansas City is on they're -- vikings' number one why. Well Minnesota's going to make -- over quarterback I expected to make -- bowl quarterback I can't say unequivocally. That Kansas City. Is going to be the market for a quarterback just because. They might draft one in -- first draft okay. And it sort of ticket out of market -- I -- trading for what I don't see them I don't know that they I see them trading floor. Matt Cassel or Derek Anderson I don't know that Detroit does that either Minnesota. -- entertain. Offers to make most like that because. They're -- -- -- where they -- is a veteran presence to step into their lineup right now and if they draft a rookie the first round. Yeah this could be years before the outcome is built so they can actually -- and to me that makes them the leading candidates although I think Derek Anderson. Is. More attractive -- trade commodity. Then then Matt Cassel because. The compensation on him. From Cleveland I don't think will be steep. And this contract. Already has done for the next three years. Yeah but the one position you shouldn't scrimp on is it not Adam. Well let it go question what you get to decide at what cost okay brown and we don't know what else. The Patriots are trying to extract another team or even if they're going to try to extract a price for another team. To trade castaway if we think that the look to trade him we do not know that they look to trade him correct. Yeah and that's a great point on Derek Anderson you know what's the value due to chance of getting better value lot of Derek Anderson let's face it Matt Cassel is going to command. Corey shots contract. That's just god contract the last big box. That are out there right now that -- contract will card main. -- -- Of the deal that Aaron Rodgers out of the Packers for six years 65 million. The twenty million guaranteed money okay. Derek -- his contract we've done well associated I was actually three year deal worth about 24 million. Okay okay which you get two years left. So. You get -- -- sit at a considerably cheaper price in today's economics. And you have to pay him forty million guarantee like you look at -- -- -- guaranteed. You have to famous signing bonus Estes is base salaries on a trade. That's right cheek and forget about that. The price for Derek Anderson -- -- but it Derek Anderson tomorrow. Let's start you won't let -- think that if they don't just get a tournament -- A third -- up like death. Okay -- also bigger -- warm we -- remarkable pick it. Price is going to be high -- Cassel finished granderson. And every since an award. All right Adam how about what is Matt Stafford going to get. In a bonus now when you put -- next to may get top five cornerback Sanchez or Stafford he's cheaper. But again. Easy step for what percentage is good or whoever it quarterback want okay cornerback want assuming it goes that top three pick. An alliance septic number one and the Chiefs at pick number three ample lead quarterback but. What's your quarterback number one there's no later. Than that third overall pick. You're going to give him between 40030 relating guaranteed money. So but it. You have to decide what's your best decision seat belt I think a light -- those decision. With the first and twentieth overall selection at least what they're scheduled to pick right -- Do you. Can be taken a left tackle at number one and then take the step for Sanchez player that's what steps toward it. And -- rule could if they get best -- nineteenth. What. Do you go quarterback -- with the -- question that quarterback's a step addressed those brought. And then follow up -- -- a lesser left tackle -- that point. Or the left tackle with the first pick in the first round and trade the -- of the twentieth he said the alliance the twentieth of the Patriots for Cassel. Not that it that Ed Ed Ed Ed it would help and that's that's. To me that's beatable don't you think you. Yeah yes I did I would I. Would macapagal Matt Cassel about that. While. We'll have to see on that you have any indication Adam at. -- going to play ball and that could mean a lot of things right. That he's not going to bring in the PA to like the franchise tag because of pages are using in good faith that he's going to be negotiating good faith with whatever trade partner the Patriots can. I've garnered do you get any sense. That at a David -- excuse me as his agent or -- Cassel. Are going to be a pain in the ass about this thing. You know listen I think bigots and say there's no question because Matt Cassel can have some borders and who he can decide for like if let's -- -- adamantly opposed to playing in Detroit. He could say -- -- up and signed their and that it and Antonio but I cut the activist. Matt Cassel it is a great case number what. -- -- We're going to assume I assume that you want to start right. It would start so. He wants to start he's a great kid and this -- McCain is too -- trade for and that's what they have. So if there's a team that has always -- reached even if that is the Detroit Lions will pick your worst case scenario. Catch -- -- know anybody. In each -- Dudek. So so we're gonna pinpoint leveling -- money they get 6570 million dollars okay they're going to make the starting quarterback being right. Why he's -- now. MO of the have a -- -- -- as many as a dozen teams need quarterbacks if your Matt Cassel where do you think you would be most successful where would you like to go. Into. -- there's there's a New York Minnesota pleasure windup and up the ball that you beat yeah that's true. -- that that that despite for a quarterback right now. -- did the general manager you talked to back to the college kids think that Stafford and Sanchez are NFL already or that maybe another year could help both of them early Sanchez played. I think fifteen or sixteen games in college. That's exactly what I was Jamaica its edges he he is not had -- number -- throws that you ordinarily would like a quarterback that has as he enters the NFL and that usually. Suggests. That a quarterback is no little ways away further along further away away from being ready and I think that's one reason that Ito was so upset with him when he left because. He certainly could use this evening but he also recognized that was Sam Bradford going back -- addressed that -- dubious first round pick. Andy there's somebody there are so solid that was right to do that now -- so he decided to go pro. -- -- -- If you're the Arizona Cardinals you'd take a chance and roll the dice that Kurt Warner I think 36 for 37 years old. Can stay healthy for another two or three years or you cut ties and hope the met liner -- guy in the future. You have no decision is -- in a question. You. Signed. Kurt Warner there what. What I I think it is not a hard you have to do I can get -- deal with Arizona. In order to have sport it is deal. For Arizona it in in literally. An -- the sport okay it's a two year eighteen million dollar contract. Ten to twelve guaranteed. Nine million a year done deal. I don't think his worth -- Caught crazy. Yeah it is like. Usual case I would sit testified about -- good argument you. You're -- turnover that register Matt lot of right now activated at this season veco Warner just bad and -- pushing me. Is that even the -- he is -- Amanda. Now half. Please how many games in -- play outside how many real football games kept telling ultimately -- fiftieth. That night and seven quarterback that man if you -- bowl and mortar gets hurt as 37 year old quarterbacks -- want to do your worst case scenario is what you would allowed yourself to do anyway that would be -- would be your quarterback. You know that this and that Riders get tears -- the destruction actually took me you've got a wonderful one more year you what is -- And you want that accommodation for one more year before -- turn over Matt Light hurt the next year heading into the last year of his contract. We get this discussion on Tuesday we went back and forth for four -- with callers -- and Felger and I it was Tuesday and Tuesday. Her Warner all the they were not. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- But another dominant so it -- simple answer okay. Forget about the effect as Peter Keane pointed out that he has thrown for more yards in the Super Bowl. Three games did you want candidate for the job I would talk -- about that. Who cares what yards right you should forget about it. Okay so is good. Putting you name any quarterback ever. That if -- can. Ten franchise is definitely in the dumpster that will laughing stocks. And -- up to Super Bowl so what -- what she wore it. Another -- which. Basically he could -- so he took. Two teams what it used to be at Saint Louis another edition -- Saint Louis. And let into the Super Bowl and the story of fame. But that is something that. Kurt Warner's career record as a postseason starter eight and three correct yes so eleven games started as a policies they've made a good policy success. Tell me -- how many of those games have been played outside. Yes well like god. Yeah it's a reasonable. A reasonable about it any independents. Suited playing inside yeah -- that these are the and it is act like the record I'd be intimidated night. Yeah it doesn't mind there is in my world -- It's not real ball let me ask you all public -- good years yet. I think everybody figures. Maybe. And I don't care -- I let him play and your greatest if you like but the fact of the matter is is the third. Highest ranked quarterback in passer rating in the history of the NFL that is. Media personally to administer an album after it and he's got back -- the match and it. Three postseason record I don't know what people because -- high school field. -- -- -- against guys playing Colorado for playing in altitude we hold it against guys do pitch in the American League -- we we -- we are. I had to readjust everything based on where you play and all those things. Really we just doesn't support based a wave like I've never heard this. I just did it. It usually takes some of that and and -- feel pretty used that Adam and you won't even happens or it's me my. -- I -- I doubted that they I would not be using adds up at -- let me ask you would -- right now what. I come back to this it just means that okay because we had Tom code that outstanding journalists from heavy -- Dot com ought to Europe and I hate to have no reason the question about we have other reports company -- say that -- -- ahead of schedule controversy behind schedule. They should put my stance all along okay Tom Brady had a very serious knee injury. Tom Brady is going to rehab right now Tom Brady still has months of rehab last training camp starts in July the Patriots report to camp in July. Let's see how Tom Brady's knee heals from now through July. -- potential yeah right we can determine whether or not he's going to be ready for the season. That's -- -- -- should go to those earlier I spoke with a source close to Brady hypocrites not serious epidemic yes he said he is working out like a mad men on -- look like this we see pictures of his -- got a Little League opulent results -- the love of food on the beach he's -- out like a madman he's running his party always fine -- put maximum weight on he looks like Tom Brady did before he got injured he is right on schedule. And that's from somebody very close to again. That I didn't get I have no reason to question but he's not working hard I mean albeit not deliberate course properties working -- I have. No reason to doubt that he's not training is caught groups. I get. Serious injury talk to me Angel can't. Okay so that. Here's a question as it relates to Cassel and and I've felt the same way about this from the start that is. Even if there's questions about Brady right now Adam I mean it I take what John says at face value and. There's no question your don't think either of these are scheduled in the that is accurate number I guess now that's it's not. It being into schedule. Can you still say unequivocally. He's going to be ready initiated we know that. Okay you can't does that kind of Matt Cassel it's my opinion. That you trade Cassel right away about a lot because you sell high with an asset. Yet that old -- right sell high -- what you sell high with Cassel his -- you'll never be greater a want to army can't have two guys like that so you get the -- to build a deep -- -- matter what's up but Brady I still trade council what do you do. I don't disagree with that any kind of wait it'll probably always same ballot visitation with that would be is silly. No trade and it all that in and notion that with my portfolio but. I think that the biggest thing is -- is Matt Cassel is value going to go down this year Tom Brady please. It won't be any higher that's there's -- -- higher but wouldn't it be. It would have been nice to have that insurance policy buried it up very expensive -- how does care about that I don't care about excessive I really don't. You don't want to the last -- we talked about -- about the all -- at the salary cap these owners can't spend money in the -- spent all this money's about its thing. Okay. What is he doing a double what did two -- -- they're different situations in the you have teams can allocate their 123 million. Whatever way they walked all are saying is if you decide that. You want to keep their castles and ensure our candidates 1465 but -- -- I. I really don't mean that's the price did this for quarterbacks and you know what more more teams have more more cap space because more workings are financially and certainly not spend the cash that they want stick. And -- team. Matt Cassell you'd like -- -- back and I had no problem that brought saying what you're saying I think I would subscribe to your theory. I'm giving this -- I don't I think I would trade back -- I think I would get back -- Reich's different right now I would make it you know try to -- and did the -- that twentieth overall pick LB Mike call. And I would try to make that deal happen and that's what I would do but again it will not surprise me like to make an argument for the other way. Given Adam they're there they're not going to not do it because of just the price they're they're going to do it because not only do -- not going to spend that amount of money on a back up. Getting rid of the bad term trading an asset like Matt Cassel help them fix all the things on this football team that keeping Matt Cassel doesn't. Well -- this that. You wonder about title -- -- -- back cast a Little League year starts. Directly seven and I think the dead by the franchise players as February 19. So they're going to have to franchise and what they -- as of their carrying him. Are their books to 1465. Million dollars and then don't newly gears just over 27. One of the new salaries -- when you gotta make roster cuts and start signing of creation so. To me I would think that if you're going to deal Matt Cassel will we see ordinarily -- make trades were but somebody with some trade leading up to the draft. To meet the -- of the trade Matt Cassel. Would be the I thought I would see -- ever. Certainly didn't -- years of first and I think traits Mitchell. And appropriate she Cassell trade factor -- -- I would US I trade him first day you know I -- right now and it's not of the tampering you can talk to a team you don't. About a -- I mean I do it immediately detect -- right. Dead dead dead dead that's it is if that's the -- that they were employed throughout I would go. That you I would -- And a final question in the day after the Super Bowl the oddsmakers in Vegas put out next year's Super Bowl odds some more surprises many were not New England was the favorite I was surprised seed Dallas near the top of that deal Pittsburg the Giants San Diego Indianapolis Philadelphia and others. If we held your feet to the fire today who were playing in the Super Bowl in Miami on I think it's February 7 year. Well first and foremost have always seen that you can never predict who's gonna you will because. Arizona this year the Giants last year it these teams come out of nowhere. And surprise people and -- people. But if Obama -- teams for next year. I am not picking against Tom Brady or Peyton Manning cycle knowing what obviously. And I don't just say that because a quality guys in Boston derby yet I really believe that if Brady is back again no problems taking them. And in the NFC. I would go with somebody like the technical -- Eagles to -- 21 round picks 25 million dollars for the capital or be a good team. And -- to -- supposed -- be a better are both Philadelphia. Versus New England. They had a quarterback don't W think Don McNabb the hall of Famer to their credit -- Puke but at a seriously salt let's have a sucked ass all of -- with mediocre quarterbacks across the board. Mediocre quarterbacks have great numbers Bledsoe the Hall of Fame and he played outdoors and let's bring in Jim Everett has all the bleed and threw up good numbers. Not -- they have -- -- inevitable despite kick coverage championship games. Coach -- to throw the ball well to be a hall of Famer. They have it's so it just me in this championship game reps then I'll -- Donovan McNabb at quarterback Mike committee -- While at that all play the point -- back to any day -- -- -- you -- And speaking of offseason projects you working on a book the Summers after. Hi Julio probably in July likely. It's a whole same book and -- and -- sever that separates excitement. Where there was -- Michael was giving a speech but he gave two Summers ago beat those -- to integrate recession Punto you know. There have been overtimes 230 some players inducted into the profitable. You know the greatest of grip I'll bet they've also at some point. That was motivational inspirational philosophical that. You know young football players coaches business people whatever may be confused and so we'll come back every speech in 1963 and isolated. Is the strongest -- and divide in the chapters and -- should directions and still getting release forms coming in as as we speak at that. That's a great idea I think saying I think should go dissembled didn't about. What the best that Mike -- between it was outstanding. Mike singletary speech was tremendous team youngest is great. I think we have cut the Mike singletary -- Back there and we got it from his old guys who these eat those quickly enough can. I mean it's simply a matter it's forty -- victory speeches and to see help help football and the world has changed. And it's it's it's speech to social issues and our age Steven unbelievable speech on the -- in America Carl Eller did the same and it's -- because I personally speeches blob like Carlos. That. When I heard him at that it means much when you read -- ovaries it was so loud out I've it is out. With Beckett -- Balkans outlets Obama allowed talk about a little bit. After it's been as always an interesting and fun and more importantly in informative the year that's what we've gradual on. I can speak for Jerry in this instance that we into an avenue want to really appreciate you taking the time out senior -- Angeles every week in the book.
